Ervin Salmo helped me through the purchase process. He was helpful, but only until I clicked "order." He made promises and assurances that he did not live up to. He kept telling me, "see how nice the purchase process is when you have someone who genuinely cares about you." That genuine care apparently ended the moment the order was placed. I was assured that if the vehicle arrived early it could simply be held until I was able to take delivery. Based on those assurances, I paid the order fee, applied for financing, and arranged insurance. When the car was assigned early and I needed help addressing the situation, Ervin went completely radio silent. Multiple attempts to reach him were ignored, and I was left trying to sort everything out with the delivery center on my own. Now I will likely lose my $250 order fee, the promotional financing rate, and my credit score will take a hit -- all because I relied on assurances that turned out to be empty. If you are considering ordering a Tesla, do it yourself through the app or website. Do not rely on promises from a sales advisor. read more

I booked a 48-hour demo drive through Tesla's website and even got a text confirmation from a rep, so I figured everything was set. I even took a RoboTaxi over there from San Jose and was excited to finally test drive a Model 3. However when I showed up, it was already off to a bad start since no one even welcomed me and I had to find my own help. Then they told me they didn't have any cars available for a 48-hour test drive, even though I had a confirmed appointment. No apology, no offer to help, nothing -- just "we don't have any." Honestly, I'm a huge Tesla fan and really wanted this to be a good experience, but this felt super unorganized and dismissive. Timothy was phenomenal help when we got there as he walked us through the options that we could pursue in terms of different models that were available. Answered all our questions with regards the different car models that we had and explained to us (very patiently) the entire process/paperwork that would be needed to accomplish the purchase. I had a good experience here. My Tesla Model 3 needed a new battery after only 20k miles. The service advisor let me know this was a result of supercharging at the Tesla super chargers and routinely charging my battery to the full capacity. It does concern me that the chargers that Tesla puts everywhere for convenient use are literally destroying our batteries. However that's not on the service center. I dropped my car off and they told me that it would be 3-5 days. My car was ready in less than a day! They also had a complimentary rental car for me that I had for the day. Thankfully I was under warranty otherwise it would have been over $20,000 (yes that many 0s) to replace the battery if I was not under warranty. read more

Wow, never thought we would have such a horrific experience with picking up Tesla. The date changed 3 times, one start because the date moved forward. We made an appointment and came earlier. Greeted and told we will be taken care off right away and you are never early at Tesla. In five minutes we were told we have to wait, for an hour and a half in the lounge. Only after the car is detailed we can sign all documents and drive Tesla home. Not sure why we couldn't take care of the paperwork right away. So we went to the lounge, no coffee, they ran out. Really, Tesla doesn't have a back up of coffee???? We went for a walk, came back and wow the car is ready. The person who was helping us told us where the car is parked and we are ready to go. Wait, we said, we have to sign the paperwork. No, he said, all is done, you are good to go. Well, once we got home, we realized we were right, we did need to sign the rest of the paperwork. Driving back to Tesla, sign the paperwork, we find out, all of the information is screwed up by them, we cannot connect the applications. Even people working at Tesla couldn't help, we needed to connect with IT who is closed on Sunday. All I can say, disappointed. read more

He was referred by one of my friends - The white glove treatment which he gave to me and my family was something which I felt super special. He went above and beyond right from my booking till delivery and I didn't have a vibe of talking to a salesperson but more towards a friend. I know about the saying, the car salesman would make you feel that he is your best friend just to sell the car - I never felt that someone needs to do this to sell a Tesla nor help me till the delivery and walk me thru the car's setting way after their working hours for about an hour+. I would absolutely avoid the Sunnyvale service center. My experience there was absolutely terrible and even after requesting to speak to the manager got absolutely nowhere. I did have better experience in Santa Clara but I would tell you that avoid Sunnyvale at all costs. I came in to have my P85 plus inspected because there was no plus on the dash or shown on the main computer even though it had a plus on the rear badge. Apparently this is a fairly common issue for this particular model and it's super easy to verify that you have the suspension by just turning the wheel and looking for a one in the last digit of the sticker. I was able to verify this in about 30 seconds. Sunnyvale took over 3 hours and told me no that I did not have a plus that I only had plus seats which is an absolute lie. It even list plus in my stats under the vehicle. Sunnyvale service took several hours told me that it was not a plus, the manager told me he would look into it and never got back to me. I literally spent 3 hours in Sunnyvale and was told that my car was not a plus so not only was I lied to but I had to wait several hours. The person checking me in for service took well over 30 minutes just to get me checked into my appointment. I found the staff there both rude and incompetent. Santa Clara was able to verify that it was in fact a plus and was able to get the computer updated without too much issue. Thanks Tucker!! Sunnyvale not only lied to me by telling me that my car was not a plus but also wasted a bunch of my time and then told me that they would get back to me and never did. If this was my only service center nearby I would absolutely be selling this car immediately. read more

My service experience has locked in my decision to never own a Tesla again. First offense is my scheduling experience on the app. No possibility to call. Scheduled mobile and he didn't have the parts. He scheduled a follow up service and didn't tell me it was not mobile. Missed the appt. Rescheduled the appt. Then Tesla rescheduled the appt and didn't message me outside the app. Then they changed the tesla location without messaging me outside the app. Ugh. Next is a story so grab your coffee. I blew out a tire in a pot hole outside Stockton. They told me I needed to replace the wheel and the tire. I Approved nearly $1k in repair. Roll forward 10 months. Same wheel has a bulge in the tire. America's Tire says the wheel is bent. Same wheel. Hmmm. No pot hole incidence so I message service. Message - it's not warrantied. We have no idea what you've done since the repair. My response - you could have not repaired the wheel. Message (because you can't talk to a person w tesla service) - sorry. I schedule repair with plan to talk to a person at drop off. Spoke to Asst. manager - same talk track. No sympathy. I suggest he found discount it. No response or acknowledgment. No "sorry you've had a bad service experience." We're done with tesla for many reasons. Bringing the repair to America's Tire who have been nothing but transparent with us in all of my dealings with them. read more

This review is for the mobile Tesla service that will come to your home or work to service your Tesla. You contact them and schedule the appointment through the Tesla app on your phone. I needed to replace my cabin air filters and didn't want to hassle with buying the 2 required tools or following the procedure to change the filters. Louis showed up on time, showed me how to remove the plastic covers covering the cabin filters, and then finished the job in about 20 min. He also performed a service bulletin concerning my control arm bolts that needed some type of sealant put on them so they won't rust in the future. Pretty quick and I'm still so impressed with this car after 4 years and 37,000 miles. The maintenance required is so trivial: air in the tires, rotate the tires, windshield wiper fluid, windshield wiper replacement, all of which I can do myself. I will take the car in for the brake fluid flush, suspension bolt torque check and inspection. The cabin filter replacement was $29 for labor. I bought the Spear Head Breath Easy Cabin Filters on Amazon for $19. Tesla recommends changing every year, but I waited 4 years and mine weren't that dirty. If you use AC a lot, the filters get wet from condensation and start to smell, so that's a sure sign they need replacing. read more

I received my car back with multiple scratches (5 of them) on the clear coat of my driver side front door. I clean and take care of my car often and these were not present before I brought my car to be serviced. I had sent an email regarding the situation and Eric Estes sent a reply showing old scratches on my passenger side door (not my driver side front door as originally stated in my email to him). This occurred during my second appointment for a tire change (it should have only taken one appointment but took two appointments because they only had 2 tires available and notified me last minute when I was physically at the service center) and now I'm forced to bring the car in again and spend more of my time to fix a problem that they had caused and it's not even clear if they will reimburse me when I bring the car in. Overall, the service at Tesla Sunnyvale is disorderly and sloppy at best. I will not be taking my Tesla to be serviced there again. read more

The short story is my temporary license plates blew off during the California January storms (first one, then the other. Just my luck). So I went in to get replacements. I knew it was sort of a weird request but Tyrah helped me and she was super awesome. Not only did she get me the plates, but she ALSO got me new screws to attach them AND gave me a screwdriver to do it. (Which she just made appear out of thin air like a magician). Poor (or no) communication, and there are basically no loaners available. You'll get $100 Uber credit/day, but it can be pretty inconvenient -- also the credit doesn't cover any tips. Which isn't surprising since you're normally tipping for service, and Tesla doesn't know what service is. I took my car in since the Autopilot had an issue -- it was fixed, then the problem came back a week later. I took it in again, and they're not able to tell me what went wrong or when it will be completed. I told them I need a car for the weekend but it's *crickets*. Appointment was scheduled and 8 days later my 2018 X model has NOT been repaired. No loaner cars available! Communication is POOR between tech and customer and tech and mechanics. This is the 2nd time water has poured into the center of the car when the falcon wings doors open. The first time occurred while my car was under warranty. Tech stated this is a Tesla design flaw so they covered it. However, this time, leaks are ALSO taking place around the entire perimeter of the falcon wing doors when they are closed. But, my Tesla warranty expired and they are not repairing it due to the Tesla design flaw. So, falcon wing doors leak when they are open or closed. Poor service only adds to the lack of customer goodwill to cover the design flaw. Sadly, Palo Alto Tesla Service no longer takes on this issue. Pictures and videos were provided in advance so they knew what to expect. I was told this was a one day service. Only grateful for the lifetime charging on my car! read more

This is more of a general concern with the overall company / implementation and my hope is that corporate will look hard at current systems. As my experience has been bonkers. Decided to buy the car, and from the get go - issues. Was told that the car would be ready in 2~6 weeks, decided - ok, in no rush. Got a text that same day ( Friday - long weekend mind you ) that they were dropping off the car the next day... And it was a chore to correct this, as we needed to go to the bank for the check in order to...like pay for the car. Received the car, and noticed a paint issue during the drop off. Nothing big, basically a touch up and thought that it would be an easy fix. I realize that it would be a 'touch up' job - and fine with this tbh. The complexity of trying to get this corrective action though, was beyond a chore. Scheduling, pushing dates back, going to the 'wrong' address at the 'wrong' time, etc. One set of folks telling me one thing, and another group saying something different, and so on and so on. It just seems like there's not a great level of communication between internal systems / parties and trying to get tasks performed are needlessly complex. In the end, I'm going to live with my paint issue - just not worth more of my time. I do worry, should there be a real need though in the future (i.e. service) - what that might look like. The company prides itself on using cutting edge communication tools; however, I think this is more of a business systems problem. read more

I was super excited to pick up my Tesla especially because it was my first time buying a car. I did a lot of research before deciding on this car. However, this car has a big learning curve and when I checked in, the lady said my car was outside around the corner and she just pointed at my car from the inside. I had to ask her to go with me because I wasn't sure which one she was pointing at. When we got to my car she said she'll be waiting inside so I had to explore the car by myself and I had some questions so I went back inside to ask her and she said "did you do your research on teslas" as if my questions were not valid. The person handling transaction was nice but didn't know anything about the car - in other words, didn't give a quick demo before taking off with the new car. I'm in the market for a new car, and Cindy will probably be the reason why I decide to get a Tesla. Not only was she thorough and knowledgeable about all the cars, she was extremely thoughtful in how she offered me options. She never tries to oversell you, and she tries to understand what you need in order to help you decide what trim works best for you. She was extremely courteous the entire time. And when it came to doing the test drive, she was extremely efficient. I was in the car in a matter of minutes, and the car was returned smoothly. I knew she was extremely busy as there were so many people huddled around her. But she made me feel I was taken care of. If you're debating on getting a Tesla or any car, go see her. She didn't pressure me at any point during the discussions. In fact, she wanted to make sure that I was happy leaving the dealership, regardless of my choice. I brought by car in on a Thursday and it was not done until the following Wednesday. There was very little communication, no number to reach someone at service, and no response to messages sent via the app. It turns out they had to order a tire, which may have contributed for some of the time, but I was not told this until Tuesday! I went through the whole weekend without a car. Please update your system so that there is better (a) turn-around-time (b) response to messages, and (c) a phone number to talk to a person. read more

Picked up a car a couple weeks ago, was greeted by people at the front where they asked me for my information and directed me complete my tasks to pick up my car. As I was doing them I begin to walk around the store as I wait for things to load etc. My family noticed the workers offer umbrellas to other customers because it was raining outside to look at the car. We ask for one and they are very hesitant and begin asking me for information and that they are for "buyers only" even after I had already checked in and started the pick up process. Most recent purchase at this location was very confusing and frustrating. Purchased a new 2024 Tesla Model Y. Was planning to pick it up from Sunnyvale. Tesla called to schedule home delivery. The next day Tesla called to cancel home delivery and went on to offer a Uber link. On the delivery day they texted me they would not provide any Uber link. Eventually I had to reschedule the pick up one more time. Those people don't know what they are doing and don't have the basic business ethics to honor their own words. Ervin was amazing from the moment we booked our appointment to test drive. He had sent us a confirmation the night before to ensure everything was good and ready to go. On the day of the test drive, he thoroughly explained all the features of the Model Y for us. He's incredibly professional, yet personable. He's also got a great sense of humor! We later drove another car and upon returning, we saw that he was occupied with another set of customers. We were waiting to thank him for helping us that day and Jingyi then walked over to see if we had any questions. We stated we didn't have anything to ask, but just wanted to thank Ervin for helping us. Then that's where it went downhill. As we were talking to Jingyi, we got a very negative vibe from her. She was almost talking down to us and giving us attitude while we were speaking to her. My husband and I realized there was a difference between the Model 3 and Model Y, so we needed some time to discuss which would be best for us. She wanted us to put down a deposit and then decide afterwards which vehicle was best for us. When we stated we weren't ready to commit, she seemed incredibly annoyed. I'm not sure if sales are commission-based, but our interactions made it seem like it was? Even if that were the case, I would have wanted to do business with Ervin because he was the original associate who assisted us AND he was incredibly nice. I docked one star for the interaction with her but otherwise, we had an absolutely fantastic experience here. We will be contacting Ervin once we make our decision. Service center failed to repair a broken dashcam in my car after one week of in-shop diagnostics (and several months of pre-appointment remote diagnostics). Agreed with the manager named Paul about next steps for resolving the issue (issuing a refund). He needed to check some details internally and promised to get back to me next week. Now three weeks later he has not done so. Service center does not respond to any of my emails and thus it has been impossible to even get in contact with the manager or anyone else with details on how to actually get the promised refund. Tesla App team says they will contact the service center management team, but no-one has gotten back to me. Tesla, if you read this, please get back to me or share way to get in contact with your team. read more

He made the whole process insightful and detail oriented. Full review: I knew what I wanted, and could have booked the car online, but I decided to go in person to Tesla Sunnyvale. I have been to other car dealerships and usually I have had a good experience. But this guy, Ervin Salmo, at a Tesla Sunnyvale, is one of a kind. I went in late around 5 (Tesla Sunnyvale closes at 6). I knew what I wanted, and I had done my own research before coming in. When I started talking to Ervin, he provided several interesting facts which I could use to make a good decision. Few discussion items were: what to do with FSD, what to do with alloys included in the standard package, should I get the 3rd row in model Y or not. It was never as if he was selling anything to me, it was a discussion. He asked about how we plan to use the vehicle, and provided good insights accordingly. Once you start a conversation with Ervin, it can go deep and very detail oriented. It was past 6, but he did not care, he continued to have the same level of engagement with us, and continued discussing with the same energy. At every step of the booking process, he made sure we understood each section, and gave us appropriate time to think if I wanted to change a feature. I think we wrapped the whole process by 630ish. I went to the showroom in June and I am writing the review in August. And I think I have given a pretty exhaustive review, in spite of us meeting him almost 2 months ago, all because I vividly recall the conversation as it was very good. He is a great guy, and extremely detail oriented and patient. He doesn't care what time of the day it is, or how tired he is, all he cares is did the customer get more than they expected or not. As an Employee of Tesla, after how i was treated by not honoring the Employee promotion & with a co-signer of 700 credit score, they wanted 9k down with the Employee promotion, zero down, zero due at delivery. Canceled my order & will be going with Rivian. Will never own or buy any tesla products. There was a lot of miscommunication. At one point they told me to add a co-signer to get the Employee promotional offer of 0 down payment & 0 due at delivery when my wife was already on the application with 700 credit score, how they not already know that boggles my mind. So i mentioned we will be taking our business else where & Canceled my Tesla order. I have a demo drive with Rivian next month on the 12th. They rather have Employees go else where I guess. I went for a test drive at Sunnyvale Tesla - was quickly greeted by Ervin. He is extremely kind and not pushy as a salesman. He gives you the space you need as a customer. He quickly put us into a performance model Y. After an initial test drive, we brought the car back and I mentioned that I do want to experience the lower performance model. Ervin, quickly updated the car to reduce power to match the standard edition and let us do a second test drive without any wait time.
