There's always 3-4 stations not working. I tried three duds before having to go to another charging station.

Decent Supercharger station at the side of Petsmart, in the Costco shopping center. Why only three stars? My friend (Tesla owner) and I stopped by here to charge up his car - it was in the evening on the weekend, so Costco was already closed - the overhead lights for this lot was off. Not sure if it was turned off or reliant on Costco time, or just burned out - but having the lights off in this lot that was already at a corner of the massive plaza gave it a bit of a sketchy feeling. There was also some sort of unofficial dump thing going on at the far end of this lot. Charge speed was relatively fast, I don't believe I've ever seen this station full - even during peak hours when I'm driving past here in my non-Tesla/EV. Anyway, fix the overhead light situation, and this supercharger station picks up a star! read more

First time coming to this location the other day, I got suckered into the "pull straight in" at the end parking. It was nice before the crowd came, then I quickly realized....umm, how the heck am I going to back out? Reverse all the way out? I guess that's the only way. Thank goodness there were a few open spots on the right hand side so I was able to back it in before making a turn out of the Tesla charger area. Again, those two beautiful VIP spots just suckered me in. Won't do that again the next time I come. Great place to charge. Nicely located in its own area so I didn't have to go through mail/shopping traffic. Will be back! read more

Pros: 1. Next to a Costco and Petsmart, so you can charge your car while you shop, or shop (or go to the restroom) while you charge. 2. The "dead end" layout means that the first person in line will get the next spot (vs. some where another person can cut in line from the other side) Cons: 1. Not the fast 250 charger but only 150kw 2. Had to wait for a spot 3. The "dead end" layout also means that if you go in and there isn't a spot, or you are facing the wrong way, then it's hard to turn around and go back out. read more

Blah! Santa Ana part 2? So far I absolutely love my Tesla. I think it would be hard to go back to any gasoline car. Like the old days of the ICE car I never wait in line at Costco gas so I'm not waiting for Tesla Superchargers. I used to go to Costco at 6-6:30 am to fill up. Now I go to Tesla Superchargers from 5-5:30 am (or earlier) to avoid the crowd. I heard other people write comments about the surge in 3s... Um how about the cheapo X and S owners that have free charging for life? Let the new 3s enjoy their temporary free charging bonus. The real cheapos need to charge at home. It's sad but for the most part Tesla owners are awesome. I got some nods and waves like I'm in the EV club changing the world and lowering emissions. However, when you go to a full Superchargers area it's like we are annoying baseball and hockey fans. I haven't seen a fight but I saw some stern talking between members. First visit. I pulled up to the station around 5:40 am and I'm about 15 minutes from work. It was perfect time to charge for an hour without bothering anyone or needing to stop at 80%. I was parked ready to Instagram the beauty of the Tesla chargers with 15 empty ones. That was short-lived as 5 minutes later a Tesla employee tells me the station is closed for the day... And asked if I saw the notice on the map. No I didn't. I literally drove there took about 20 minutes and there was not notified because you just closed it now. Went to Westminster in the opposite direction of work and closer to rush hour time on the return trip. I made it on time but my commute was much longer than Irvine to Irvine. Could have been fountain valley to Irvine. Grr 2 stars. Second visit. Yes, I pulled in with 2 chargers left. Another car took the remaining one. Then 2 cars left and 2 filled the spaces. Getting the last charger is so satisfying! It's like seeing a cute girl and she smile back at you and say hello. No creepiness factor for the guy and no princess disease for the girl. Or like getting top 3 in Tetris 99. The bad thing... The charger stopped charging part way. I don't know if the lady next to me tried to unplug but happened after she pulled in the next stall. She was cute so I partly forgive. I get a "cannot charge" error. I plug and unplug 3 times. It starts charging again at a fast rate but the error stayed on the screen. I scheduled a Tesla appointment just in case. Weird. The error went away later while driving. Not bad 3 stars. Third visit Around 4 pm on a Tuesday. 2 chargers left. I pull in the wrong entrance near Costco and see 2 empty chargers on the distance. I pull up to the stop sign. l silently say go to the other cars. Last spaces taken right before I make the turn towards Petco. Sucks and I see a one car line. I'm second but 4 more cars pull behind. I check my map Westminster SC (hell no! I'm not going 405N that's why I live south of there), Santa Ana SC (haha that was a good joke), and home. I will have 20% left I set my route home. That was a waste of time. Shame on me thinking I could get the last chargers and somehow get lucky. I'm about 80% done with never going back to this location. It's crap but during traffic times this is a convenient location by street from Costa Mesa or downtown Irvine. Roll the dice if you wish. If I get screwed one more time I'm removing this place. Irvine cut the destination charger crap and put in a 40 SC location. Irvine is #5 on the Tesla list in the country behind NorCal cities, LA, and SD. Hello! I've seen some NorCal cities with multiple TC in one city and Irvine is much smaller population wise than all the top cities about it. Meaning the Tesla per capita is a lot higher. There are 16 chargers here in a parking lot next to a Costco and busy shopping center. There is usually a wait and now it's one of the Superchargers that charges only to 80% max. The layout isn't easy to back in and out so be cooperative with fellow Tesla owners! If you're a local it's probably perfect to charge while you go shopping. For travelers, expect to wait for one to open up. Overall, a busy location but one worth going to when you need a charge. read more

Ok so I have come two separate times, one at about 9pm and then another at about 7:15pm it was busy for both but I don't normally charge in this area so If im close I'll come to top off. People are fine no one says anything. It's a super charger and the rates here are not too bad if you have to pay for charging (3 or Y) The stalls are fine and they are just a parking lot full of high priced cars. There hasn't been any arguing that I've seen, and I don't have a problem clapping back haha but it's a fine a fine charging area, if anything the peak times I would avoid but there are other super chargers I use during peak. If you need to use this specific one then get a feel for times and while there is a new influx of Tesla's out. They are in the process of building more and more super chargers in the area. It is a high use charging station that says to 80% but can adjust for longer charges. Idle times are here so as soon as you finish please move and let the next person charge same as a ICE vehicle. read more

Fountain Valley, Ca. My experience at this charger station was ok but there were a few issues. I was waiting for a stall to open when someone pulled out. Immediately another car pulled out of a stall only to back into the just vacated stall. When I hooked up in the stall the second car pulled out of, I discovered the charger would not boot up. Just then yet another car left so I did the same thing and bolted over to that stall before the lady in line could react. As she was backing into my previous stall I went over and told her it wasn't working. Just then yet another car left so she didn't have to wait. There are two chargers at this site not working. It is a very busy location so it would be helpful if these two stalls get repaired. As of this review if your app says two stalls available that really means no stalls available. I found that most people move their vehicles immediately after charging, as they should, so waiting times are not too long. read more

The problem here is the honor system... In San Juan there is a guy directing you to a spot. Here you have to hope that if your waiting and are next that someone doesn't jump in front of you. So far, no issues, but I can see it happening. 2 stars for the lack of more stations 2 stars for the location (by Costco) 3 stars for the single charging station (not shared) Instead of digging a tunnel to China, Musk should try charging his cars at various stations (like undercover boss) and get a feel for our frustrations. Came into town from NorCal to my daughters Fastpitch tournament and needed to charge up. This location had a spot of its own and multiple chargers. The unfortunate part of this is there were multiple chargers that were not working and limited space and the parking is tight. It is a high usage supercharger station and you are limited to 80%. There are a lot of supercharger stations to use in the area so choose mindfully when going to this charger or any that are tiny spots. Utilize the Tesla feature showing the supercharger stations when picking wh here you want to charge. What is great is even though there is not a sign for the line most people were respectful you were parked before supercharger waiting to charge next. Good luck and stay safe read more

possibly the best and fastest supercharge station around. that's why it's almost always full no matter what time of day you go. ALSO, don't trust what the supercharge says on your tesla navigation. when we got there, it says there were no charging stations available, but there were clearly two stations opened. HOW DECEIVING!! this location is ideally placed because you can go to costco or enjoy dinner at souplantation because it'll only take your car about an hour (if not less) to get a full charge - obviously depending on the model and battery type you have. just make sure you give yourself extra time in case there really aren't any charging stations available so you might have to wait a little. but i felt like as soon as someone got in line, one car was ready to go. so the wait isn't bad, if there is any. this is gonna be my go-to charging station from now on! read more

We were lured to this supercharger by the navigation system, which showed that here were 2 stalls available. Unfortunately upon arrival, at least 3 stalls were out of commission with the cords wrapped in a manner signaling "no go". There were many many other Teslas waiting for an open stall, but they were all randomly parked in the small lot. There was really no clear queue- too chaotic and crowded for me. Also too much uncertainty. We cut our losses and proceeded to the supercharger in San Clemente which worked out like a dream. read more

I was very lucky and got the last spot out of 16 when I pulled in. Four more cars pulled in right after me and 2 were able to get in shortly after me. Looks like a very populist spot, but not much around so ended up sitting in the car. The highest mi/hr the charge got to was 227, then quickly went down to 211 and keeps trickling down while I'm typing this! A few more cars have pulled in so good luck getting a spot when you arrive. Horrible location to charge your car. They only have 18 stalls but alway have at least one or two stalls down. The charging amp is super slow too compare to Westminster. Super Slow on maintenance, if one stall is down I'm sure it won't go back up for at least 5-7 days later and they take turn to break down. Tesla need to step up with this location. This is the last charging station I would ever use to escape a zombie apocalypse. It's consistently full; at 3pm on a Monday, all eight bays were in use as four more drivers waited for their turn. Also, every had car had nicer rims and made me feel inadequate. Yes, it's free electricity and a testament to the continued awesomeness of Tesla. But just like the five star restaurants on Yelp that get dinged for random issues like parking and high demand, this charging station will now experience wrath. I give it three stars, and will keep using it - for free. read more

Stopped here for the first time around noon and it was full. After waited 2 mins a slot opened up and as I was pulling in to park there was a car behind me honking its horn nonstop. It was a white chick going off in her car rolling her eyes and head at me. I got that she was next in line but could you be nicer about it. Sheese! Then a lady with 4 dogs decided to walk behind me (instead of taking the side walk) as I was reversing and gave me the death stare. Will not charge here again. The vibe is so aggressive. Plus, the charging wasn't as fast as I had hoped. It would be nice if there's such thing as a VIP spot for model x drivers only bc most suv cars have kids in them and it would be more convenient for mothers! read more

This is a good charging station. It's fast, but it is also very crowded. Be prepared to wait a little bit unless you come here between the hours of 12AM and 7AM. The good news is that additional supercharging outlets are being installed as we speak. I took a picture of the crates being unloaded. Hopefully this will help alleviate the wait times. read more

This location has 16 charger stalls. When I arrived here to the charger stalls did not work and it seemed like everyone knew that those were the ones that are not able to charge. I recommend that Tessa fix this problem with these two chargers, their chargers 7B and 8A. read more

Several times I drive here (when it says there are ample stalls available) only to realize the stalls are taken or broken. Best to come before 7am or after 9:30pm. There's always drama with this supercharger, people waiting and cutting in. I much prefer Downey location when I head to LA because there's never a wait read more

Very Slow Now. No longer a good charging location since increase to 16 Stations. Some stalls 74 KW or 180 mph. Other stalls under 30kw. Perhaps they doubled stalls without any power increase. Tesla, please get this location fixed. read more

This Supercharger station is not too far from the 405 freeway at the Costco shopping center off of Euclid and Talbert. There's a Starbucks around the corner and Coffee Bean across the street! Yay! Also, if you've got some time to spare, there's a great Pho restaurant and the OC Donut Bar for some grub. read more

It's a very convenient location for a supercharger with a lot of food/drink/bathroom options nearby. That being said, its a very busy supercharging location so be prepared to wait. It seems like a lot of people plug in and then go to Costco to shop for an extended period of time, judging by the number of empty Costco shopping carts nearby. Judging from the layout of the side lot where the chargers are, Tesla could have easily added an additional six chargers or more at this location. It is puzzling as to why they chose not to considering Orange County has a such a high concentration of Tesla vehicles and the existing supercharging locations are all overwhelmed. read more

People who charges their car here are inconsiderate to people waiting patiently for the next available slot. It happened to me a few times, a car just drive up takes the available spot. In general, most Tesla owners are courteous and reluctant to confront the few rotten drivers. If Tesla doesn't fix the problem, there will be physical altercation. read more

This supercharger station is always busyand not fast enough. Today I had 6 cars ahead me on Sunday afternoon. After i got my station port for 20 mins, the apps showed my plug port got interruped and stopped charging. I ran back to my car immediately and talked to the Tesla staff. I can't believe it he told me to call Service Department for help. Come on!!! This is the station port issue not my car problem. I sat in the car and replug the car few times. The apps showed the same interruped signal again. So I gave up. read more
