I wanted to purchase some high-end chocolates to give as gifts, and champagne truffles came across my suggestions. Teuscher seemed to be an obvious choice in New York City. This was easy to find, as it's right in front of the Sak's Fifth Avenue light show and the Rockefeller Christmas tree. During the holidays, it was very difficult to get through the sea of people. On my first visit, I paid $4.25 for a single champagne truffle so that I could try it. Later, after doing some comparison shopping with other chocolate stores, I came back here to purchase boxes of mixed champagne truffles (classic and dark). The Teuscher staff are SO NICE! They ran out of the boxes for 4 champagne truffles, but they were so kind to custom-make me the truffles in cute boxes that they stuck "truffle" stickers onto, and also tied them with ribbons. They even gave me a sample of 3 jasmine truffles!!! That is SO NICE OF THEM. THREE??? I ate one, and it was divine, even though I don't even like chocolates anymore and lost my taste for chocolate over the years. I saved the rest of the samples and ate them at breakfast over the next two days. Yet, most people are not like me and love chocolates, so if you have the means, this is a great place to purchase elegant (and very pricey) chocolates as gifts! read more

UPS messed my last delivery for Father's Day and both Manage Alexis and Membership Angela made good on UPS's mistake. Arrived late for this special day but they threw in a bonus. It's good, don't get me wrong - but it's not as good as $6.42 for two very small pieces of chocolate would suggest. I've been on a chocolate kick since Valentine's Day. Since my beloved GK chocolate is taking it's sweet time opening a store front, I needed a quick fix during my shopping moment on fifth avenue. A former friend received chocolates from her boy friend from here and was raving about it so I thought why not. Another dear friend of mine only buys chocolates here so it was time to check it out. My family used to go to their Philly location every year around Christmas. We were so sad to see it was closed this year! Beautiful chocolate shop. Dropped by to try their Champagne Truffles. The employees are quick. The shop can get crowded. It is right in the middle of Rockefeller Center. I love the decor and festive colors throughout the store. After taking my first bite, I was quite impressed. The truffle has 3 layers. The outside is a thin layer of light milk chocolate. The 2nd layer is a smooth and creamy dark chocolate ganache. Finally, there is a Dom Perignon Champagne cream center. The champagne center is light. The truffles are then topped off with a light sprinkle of powdered sugar. I appreciate that the truffle was light, not too sweet and prepared with quality ingredients. At $8 for 2 pieces of truffles, I can't say that I'll be dropping by often. However, these chocolates would be a wonderful gift for that chocolate lover in your life. A definite treat. read more

I checked out this place while walking around Rockefeller Center with my family. I read on Yelp that this place had really tasty chocolate, so my sister and I walked into this chocolate place. I love chocolate, thus I loved this store! The chocolate is simply wonderful and smooth and sweet and bitter and everything you could want in a chocolate. Of course, all depending on which chocolate you get. I had the coffee truffle and dark chocolate variety. My brother had a milk chocolate bar and devoured it in minutes. This was crazy because he thinks Hershey's chocolate is yummy, and tends to be pickier about fancy chocolates. I was so proud of him, lol. The employees were friendly and very helpful. Walking down 5th to the subway, I noticed the sign chocolatier and the sweet tooth of my mine said go in. Tiny shop and expensive chocolates. Not usually my thing but I was already there so why not try. With the recommendation of the woman in the shop who was super friendly, I selected a baileys truffle and champagne truffle for $7.32. I said I hope they were worth the price and she said trust me they are. She offered me a complementary walnut truffle as well. I tried the walnut immediately and it was DELICIOUS. (My first time having a truffle). Later I tried the baileys which was literal heaven. I want another. The baileys ganache takes over everything. Prior to my trip to NYC my boss had raved about their chocolates and I knew that I had to go and give it a try. I went in with a mission to purchase their Milk Chocolate Champagne Truffles and low and behold I was not disappointed. I went on a Tuesday afternoon in the winter time and it was quiet, we were the only ones in the shop at that time but when we were leaving a few others were trickling in. Just for everyone's benefit: I called their phone line and found that their hours are Mon-Fri, 11 am - 4 pm. Not open weekends. In my humble opinion, it would have been better to open for part of the week (e.g. Tues-Fri), and open for one of the weekend days. Truffles don't do well when kept overnight in a fridge, and is we have a weekend event, due to the store hours, that's what we are going to have to do. This tiny shop is so whimsical; no detail is left unattended to. Even though I was having an awful day (hence why I found myself in a chocolate shop), I could not help but smile. Chocolate is not only packaged in colorful boxes and foil wrapping, but is included as part of floral gift sets and sets that feature all sorts of cute animals and insects (puppies, ladybugs, kittens, etc.). After browsing the many varieties of chocolate available, it was time to make a decision. Did I want a small bar of chili dark chocolate? Champagne truffles? Marzipan? Something in the case caught my eye - a solid dark chocolate owl. He was almost too cute to eat. It did not come cheap (at almost $5), but this little owl was rich and slightly bitter. For dark chocolate, this was a bit "creamier" than I would have expected. After indulging, I felt slightly calmer and at peace. Chocolate seems to have that effect on me. How was the chocolate? I didn't actually try it due to the service, which others have mentioned as being awful. So, it's the Saturday before Easter Sunday, 2018, and I'm in the city because it's our big day, we have tickets to see Hamilton tonight! My son doesn't get to NYC often so we go early to walk around and check out a few stores, when we see this one. The display in the window is intriguing, and again, Easter (yum, chocolate!!!) is tomorrow so I'm thinking I'll try something here and let my son choose something as this is a late birthday celebration for him, you know, because Hamilton tickets are sold months and months in advance and because the next day is Easter! When we first go in the tiny shop, there were a few customers inside, but it wasn't packed. We are looking around, checking out all the choices of candy bars that range from about $5 to $15 when my boyfriend asked what pink pepper tastes like. The kid seemed confused, so my boyfriend asked if it was hot and the young man said it depends on your taste and how spicy you like things. It wasn't helpful, at all, but then I was absolutely appalled by the young man behind the counter that advised my boyfriend to "google it." There were no other customers left at this point, and they are selling chocolate that's over $100/lb and this is the best response they can come up with? Really? There were 3-4 people working there with no customers and this is how they treat people in a shop this expensive for candy? They will never see a penny of my money. A more appropriate response could've been well it's the spiciest chocolate we make, or it's more/less spicy than our chili chocolate, I mean anything would've been more appropriate and this is what you say?
