We happened upon this little store and when I saw they import their chocolates from Switzerland weekly, I made a beeline for the front door. I can still taste a Bailey's truffle I had in Zurich years ago and was hoping to rekindle that food porn moment. Hoping my husband wasn't paying attention to the $92 a pound signs they had discreetly placed around the small space (he didn't), I zeroed in on the case. Sure enough there was a Baileys truffle along with orange marzipan, pistachio cream (I don't remember the exact name post euphoria) and a lemoncello truffle. To say the chocolate is sublime is a huge understatement. Eating European chocolate puts the chocolate experience on a whole new level. Who knew that an Asian girl could ever find chocolate that she thinks is worth $16 for a tiny box of truffles? In comes Teuscher. The champagne truffles are absolute heaven! My only grief is the exterior coated in powdered sugar (makes it a bit overly sweet) but then you bite into the smooth, light, whipped, heavenly center that is the perfect balance of chocolatey goodness and airy champagne. I have eaten a LOT of chocolate in my life and never had anything quite like this champagne truffle. Will be back the next time I'm in NYC and feel like dropping $50 on chocolate! read more

Gorgeous floral interior which is a treat for the eyes located in the shopping alley leading to Rockefeller Center and when you get to the counter there are countless choices for a treat for your mouth, too! The chocolates are a blend of the expected...champagne truffles...and the delightfully unique...Sicilian blood oranges dried and dipped in dark chocolate. Pricing is what one would expect from a quality and location standpoint--about 150 a box, but these are not M&Ms you are popping in your mouth willy nilly. These are handcrafted, top quality candies to savor and enjoy and well worth each penny...or dollar as the case may be. Ok. Yes, they're Swiss chocolates, and yummy... BUT SO DARN OVERPRICED! It's a tradition for me to stop I'm every time I'm by Rockefeller Plaza in the fall, but for heaven's sake - the prices are now insane and the truffles are smaller. At nearly $120/lb, these better now contain some semi-precious jewels as truffle decor. The chocolate here is good, I mean really good. At $75 a pound it should be. This Teuscher is located in the heart of the lovely tourist trap known as Rockefeller Center, therefore expect "brisk" service. Godiva, Lindt, Cadbury etc. are mere mortals compared to the heavenly taste that these tiny brown morsels offer. If you don't feel like mortgaging your home to get a pound of chocolate, treat yourself to a single truffle and a couple of smaller pieces of chocolate for about $6. It is worth it! read more

People think I'm crazy for spending $100 on a little box of chocolates but these aren't regular chocolates ! The Champagne Truffle is my weakness and I never leave NYC without a few boxes of them. One bite and you'll understand why this isn't just a regular piece of chocolate. The rose truffles leave me yearning for more because of the smooth texture and creamy decadent coating of the finest cocoa that takes over my palette and whisks me to a land of happiness. The pistachio truffle had me feeling all sorts of right. The storefront has a beautiful display with bright colors and floral patterns showcasing all the divine chocolates they handcraft. Simply the best, very refined cocoa, leads to a soft and smooth chocolate taste. Fresh, and aroma of chocolate is very vivid. Tried the bars and bought 3 of the golden boxes as gifts. Received very good compliments. Very tasty, and classy, you can tell there's a lot of attention to details. This place is pretty awesome! I tried a number of their truffles, which were delicious and just melt in your mouth. Their pistachio marzipan are amazing. Their white chocolate truffles are the best I've ever had. They're not quite as sugary as all of the other truffles I had, which is nice. In fact, they're very well balanced. The flavor leaves you wanting more and is very fulfilling, not like others that leave a lot more to desire. The staff is very patient, extremely helpful and very knowledgeable on their different products with great recommendations and suggestions. The only reason for the 4 stars is due to the price... I can't say I've ever laid this much for truffles in my life. Needless to say, I've now been here twice in the last 2 weeks and will be back when I'm in the area again!!!! read more

Delightful staff matched only by the quality of their truffles. I was ordering a box of truffles for a friend as a get well gift. I had called several times for assistance to pick out the right sort of truffle. The staff, I believe her name was Dee and another gentleman were both patient, knowledgeable, and incredibly courteous. They really understand what it means to provide a customer centered experience. In terms of the product it self, it is probably the best truffle I had tried both here in the states and in Europe. It is crafted with care and is incredibly fresh. Yes, it's price point is way above reasonable but it's value is right where it belongs. I would rather buy from here every once in a while than more often from a place like Godiva. It's just that they are this good. It's worth it. Start with the chanpagne truffles. :) read more

My friend and I walked into the store to purchase a few loose pieces of chocolate. I have never heard of the store before, but my friend had and bought a few pieces of chocolate in the past. The store front was very decorative for the holidays so it drew a lot of people in to look around and purchase. Once inside, there were more decorative items for sale on one side and the chocolates/ packaged truffles on the other side. In the middle, was the counter which displayed rows of truffles. There was a short line waiting to purchase the truffles but it moved fast. We decided to purchase three different ones to try; dark chocolate salted caramel, classical champagne, and pistachio flavored truffles. The chocolates were flown in from Switzerland daily and cost $112 per pound. First I tired the classical champagne flavor which had a thin layer powder over it and it was was incredibly smooth & creamy with a light taste of champagne coming through with each bite (I usually take small bites when I eat even though the truffle was small). Then I tried the pistachio flavor; the out shell of the truffle had a nice bite/ crunch to it and the inside was creamy and had hints of pistachio. It was not very strong like other pistachio flavored foods which may be artificially flavored. My friend tried the salted caramel and said it tasted good as well (unfortunately not much of a description, but I trust her taste). Overall, even though it is quite pricey I think that it is definitely worth a try. They are the best chocolates that I have even tried. Also since it's near the holidays you can take great pictures with the Christmas tree nearby or go iceskating. read more

I actually bought several delights at this Teuscher Chocolates in New York while visiting during one of the hottest summers on record. Add to that a garbage worker's strike and you've got yourself a petite San Franciscan Asian chippie with a major case of heat rash. I was beyond sweaty, impatient, and not in the mood to chit-chat. I think I would have run over a grandmother to see a cable car at that point. But then, walking into Teuscher, I saw my plump, perky little mounds of champagne truffles, all perfectly lined up in a row waiting for me in their cool window case. "I'll take two million dozen." I said. I took the adorable colored bag and ate them all after plopping myself down on a bench in the park...where I also had to sleep that night. Thems truffles are ex-PEN-sive, y'all. read more

The champagne truffle at Teuscher is a work of art. A thing of beauty. It makes my heart flutter. It grows me wings. Smooth chocolate enrobing a champagne center (and an ever-so-thin crunchy layer between the two), and a fluffy pea sized white foamy buttercream inside. Sigh! If I could ever make this at home, I would be ............. very fat. Okay, enough raving about the truffle. The shop itself is busy and colourful and looks like a giant Christmas present. I'll be your friend if you buy me the store. The staff at Teuscher are so friendly! They're always patient with me no matter how much time I take to decide what I want, and are very cheerful as they charge my card an exorbitant amount while I look on like a doofus. Almost all the chocolates are well-made, the truffles are unique and everything has this wonderful handmade quality. While I am a long time chocolholic , I must say that this is not my favorite chocolate. It is light and sweet and very pure tasting but it is too light and not enough rich for my taste. I am amazed a the price but knew before I bought it that is was pricey. Must say my daughter loved her solid pieces , but at 75 bucks a pound thats not a regular treat she will be getting. Strangely I love the over the top kitschy bright flowers and colors in the display , it seemed over done just like the chocolate but it works for me. Amazing chocolate store. They had pieces that I've not seen in Chicago or Beverly Hills, and their customer service is exceptional. My g/f and I stopped by to pick up a gift for a friend of hers. I knew of Teuscher only by reputation. They had a very nice selection of chocolates. It ended up being a little overwhelming, so we got a nice sampler for her friend. I got a milk chocolate hazelnut candy as well as a triple layer confection that had some peanut butter in it. The triple layer confection was good, but the hazelnut candy was truly great. Every bite had an explosion of flavor. Great googaly moogaly! The people there were really nice and worked with us to get us exactly what we wanted. They really looked like they enjoyed their jobs, which is a rarity these days, especially in retail. Kudos to them. If you've never had Teuscher, if you like chocolate you need to try it. I don't know if its THE best. But it's the best chocolate I've had so far. read more

This is a relatively tiny outpost for Teuscher - there is another (nicer) shop on 61st Street. I like Leonidas and Neuhaus as well. Teuscher has a good assortment of filled dark & milk chocolates. The truffles at Leonidas are somehow better - in my opinion. And for packaging and presentation - I'm all about Neuhaus. But for top-quality chocolates, Teuscher is a safe bet for corporate or special occasion gift giving. read more

Don't shoot me, but I am not a chocoholic...well except for maybe once a month. This is the most amazing chocolate I've had in my entire life. My husband introduced me to it years ago, and my wallet has hated me ever since. The truffles are amazing. Champagne truffles are their specialty but I prefer the White Chocolate truffles. They melt in your mouth like butter. Mmmm Mmmm. The dried apricots dipped in milk or dark chocolate are so great. Literally everything we've tried has been heavenly. I prefer the UES location since it is much quieter, even though we always end up at Rock Center. It can be annoying when there are a million people packed in the place like sardines but if the wait is not too bad then it's totally worth it. read more

The store is adorable, except when packed with shoppers (which is easy -- the place is not large). Have yourself a real chocolate feast -- Leonidas is just a few blocks away. This is my friends favorite chocolate shop. It looks like a garden of PINK exploded in their window display. You go inside and find perfectly neat organized piles of chocolate. NY has many specialty choclate makers. I did think they were good, and very expessive. $75 for a pound or something. We had a variety of pieces and although I did think they were good, they arent to die for exactly. It also would help if the staff could smile a little and Oh, being from California I didnt know that the champagne truffle was so famous. She could have suggested it. I thought the chocolate was good here but the customer service was not. We walked in excited to get some chocolate and the woman behind the counter immediately greeted us. We were looking at the chocolates and she was irritated that we didn't know what we wanted right away. She told us to get her when we were ready so after a few minutes we called her. She then pointed to someone else to take care of us haha. We got an 8 piece and the chocolate was very good with a praline being our favorite followed by something pistachio. The man helping us then accidentally gave us the wrong price as it was being calculated. We almost got away with $8 chocolates. After being corrected, we left spending $22 on chocolate that was good. Due to the location and the customer service, sadly I don't think I will be back. There are too many other chocolatiers in the city that are good and have better service. read more

The Champagne Truffle at Teuscher is excellent. I stopped by Teuscher earlier in the month after stopping by La Maison du Chocolat nearby, also around Rockefeller Center. I can't resist chocolate and I'm always willing to try any types of chocolates that catches my eye. I was in the Rockefeller Center area and I couldn't resist this eye catching place especially since Switzerland is the King of Chocolates. This location is a rather tight spot and 10 people inside can make for some interesting maneuvering. Most of the chocolates on display are expensive but luckily there are box sets you can buy at a decent price. I saw some truffle boxes and thought, mmmm what a great way to start the new year with some champagne truffles. I bought a 9 piece box for $20 which I later shared with my friends after dinner. Most of the truffles I experienced were heavily dusted with powder however, this creation was lightly coated and didn't spill any on my sweater. The chocolate consistency was smooth and easily melted in my mouth and the center wasn't overpowering. You can taste the hint of champagne in it. The packaging comes in this bright green box and other assortments in bright pink or yellow which reminded me of a vibrant Easter colors. At the same time, it reminded me of a kitschy feel to it vs. the other chocolatiers in their elegant boxes of gold. If I had a little bit more money to burn, I'd definitely pick up the larger quantities but those 9 piece boxes are a delight that can last you a week. read more

When did I finally acknowledge that I am a chocolate snob? maybe when I realized that my excessive love of chocolate results in extra lbs....so I really try to eat only seriously good chocolate. Since Sprungli in Switzerland does not have a US store (they are my favorite of ALL time), Teuscher is definitely #2. climate controlled store, spotless, displays of amazing chocolates (cue Pavlov's reaction here). A puddle, that's me, when it comes to dark chocolate, hazelnuts, and caramel. The staff is so helpful & friendly. Never mind my tiny little bag of candy (five pieces!) cost $17; it was worth it. As much as I wish they had an outpost in Washington DC, my thighs thank you. I know I said I'm a chocolate snob but you can pretty much always find a bowl of peanut M&Ms at my house..especially during the holidays when they get all fancy with the colors... Small shop in Rock center that is always beautifully decorated. I rarely go in since it's a bit out of my way and the chocolates are pricey. But since my birthday is in a few days, I figured I'd treat myself! Before this visit, I've only had the champagne truffles. Wanting to try other things, I chose the raspberry liquor, wine, and one other dark chocolate flavored truffle. They all tasted as advertised, but in no way rivaled the champagne truffle! At least I know that if I'm going to spend almost $3 per truffle, I will for sure just go for the champagne ones next time! P.S. Credit card minimum is $5... I thought the chocolate was very nice- had one piece of chocolate truffle and one chocolate with a hazelnut wafer with nuts covered (like the classic forerro rocher). I paid 5.50 or so for two pieces of chocolate. I think it was comparable to other chocolate I had without having to pay that much.
