We hired Scott Roeder at Texan Fence in June to install a small fence, mistakenly thinking we were hiring another company with a similar name. While Scott was friendly and provided a fair estimate, the project turned into a disaster. After paying for materials, we waited far beyond the promised timeline. Excuses ranged from personal issues to delays caused by Hurricane Beryl, but communication was inconsistent at best. When Scott's "crew" finally arrived, they clearly lacked the skills needed for the job, using a tree branch for measurements and leaving posts improperly set. Scott promised to waive the labor portion of the bill due to the delays but never followed through. Months later, after more excuses and no progress, he said he could be out the following week to finish the job--if we paid the labor cost he had previously agreed to waive. By that point, we had already hired another contractor to tear out the poorly installed posts and complete the fence in a single day. Additionally, Scott failed to pay his workers, who later came to our home asking for payment. While Scott may be personable, his work is unprofessional, unreliable, and unacceptable. I cannot begin to tell you how disappointed I am that Scott Roeder will not finish my son's fencing project. My son hired him in January, 2024 to build a backyard fence. He got a couple of quotes. Scott was not the cheapest but the fences he built were beautiful. He did a nice job on the fence. In December, he hired him to stain the fence. He quoted him $5300. My son paid him on December 23, before he did the work, with the understanding that the work would be done in January or February when we had a few days of good weather. He had no doubt that Scott wouldn't do the work. It is now July and the fence is still unstained. We have reached out to him several times and at first he said he would come back and do the job but now he is ghosting us. The next step will be small claims court. But please, please be aware of Scott Roeder and Texan Fence Company. I do not trust him to stand by his word. And nothing is worse than a person who steals money. Hello Scott, I've been waiting for months for you to finish my fencing project. You have not responded to me since October 9th and you have been paid 100%. Scott did a new fence back in July 2023. He moved it in a good 2-3 feet without discussingit with me, essentially giving it to my back neighbor. One end is ugh, I can't even describe it and the other end from being move up 2-3 allowed my dogs to get out which is why I got a new fence. Scott said he could either move it back (like it should have been to start with or add a gate so I could mow. I have seen either or Scott. His crew also took a cattle panel that he said he would bring back. Haven't seen that either. read more

If I could give zero stars, I would. Please consider another company if you are in need of a new fence. The owner is unethical. He verbally told us all he uses is western red cedar but realized after he used Japanese cedar, which isn't horrible but not as quality or durable. We paid for the western red cedar price, though. The quote just says "cedar". Shame on us, right? He also told us he used stainless steel nails, but as it turns out they used galvanized nails. In addition to these lies, the owner, Scott, never finished our fence and stopped returning our phone calls. We had to get another company to finish it and they told us they have had to complete several jobs in the past because of this same scenario. It was extremely expensive and shame on us for not doing a bit more research before giving selecting our fence company. In addition to this we had to pay a second fence company to complete the stain and they also told us they've had to complete customer jobs who started with Scott's company. It's really pathetic. Please read reviews on other social platforms, you will see several other customers had the same problem we did. PLEASE bypass this company for any service they provide. I would give 0 stars if that was an option. The fence looks fine. The fencers finished in the dark. I provided them a light that they assumed was a "gift." It was Friday night so they were in a hurry. Used our old frame for the gate. In the morning I sent pictures of the gate to Texan Fence. It was crooked, had a gap, and was cut uneven on the bottom. I had the best experience with my 150 ft fence and dog run for my beach house. The work was completed within 24 hours of starting the project. Once the job was complete the site was cleaned up better than when the crew arrived. There we absolutely no nails to be found on the ground, perhaps more impressive was that the nails in the fence were done in a very precise manner that makes them almost hidden from sight. You have to walk up to the fence and strain you eyes to find the nails that hold the fence together. Scott assured me there would be no gaps below the fence, and he came through on that commitment. My dogs will enjoy the yard and my wife and I can rest easy knowing there are no escape routes for them, no gaps whatsoever. Upon completion of our fence Texan Fence Enterprises LLC conducted a full inspection and ensured my complete satisfaction with the work that was conducted. Scott responded to my request to build a fence between me and my neighbor. His crew showed up in a timely manner and was most courteous. Had some challenges with my neighbor's gate due to a concrete sidewalk. They resolved the problem professionally and with a fair price. Scott and his crew were fair, pleasant and competent. Don't believe the negative reviews, this was the best contractor experience that I have had. I am new to the area and did a basic google search for a fence company near Alvin, TX. Texan Fence popped up and the photos on their site were beautiful. I called to request a quote and Scott called me back the next day to schedule an appointment for later that week. When Scott arrived, I told him I wasn't quite sure what fence I wanted, but I knew there were HOA restrictions for my neighborhood. He took some measurements of my property and then took me on a "tour" of different fences and gates that he had installed in the neighborhood to make sure I knew exactly what I would be getting and to choose from the different options. Scott helped me with the HOA requirements and was very understanding while I was going through the HOA approval process (which is a nightmare, but that is a different story). Once we had approval, Scott sent his team out and I had a fence within a couple days. It is a beautiful fence and the wild hogs are no longer waking me up in the middle of the night. If you want to be treated well, and have a beautiful product that will last, I highly recommend you call Texan Fence. read more

I have never written a poor review, however, I feel compelled to share my experience so that others may not find themselves in the same situation. I took several bids, and chose Texan Fence although the quote was among the higher bids. I was in a hurry and needed the job quickly and efficiently, and thought paying a higher price would insure quality and efficiency. Looking back, the text messages from the first contacts should have been a red flag. It all began with him sending a quote. I called to discuss the price... yet multiple messages to him went unanswered. When contact was finally made on Friday afternoon before the proposed job start on Monday, I told him I chose someone else because I couldn't reach him in to discuss the quote. He became angry and went as far as saying "I ordered the materials and built the gate because I THOUGHT YOU WERE A GOOD PERSON." I didn't see at the time how manipulative that was. I felt bad, and agreed to cancel the other job I had accepted that morning. It only declined from there. In short, I paid in full on the day of the job without inspecting the work. After the two or three workers left, the following morning I noted the following on the approximate 160 feet of chain link fence: tie wires were spaced 3 to 4 feet apart, the fence material was very loose in areas, in some places there were as much as 6" between the ground and the bottom of the fence material, material scraps were left all along the fencing and I had to clean up, a 10" french drain was completely covered with 4" of dirt, and I could go on. It literally took MONTHS for the problems to be corrected. I could go on and on about how this played out, however there is simply not enough space to share all of the details. read more

Texan fence and construction, not to be confused with Texas fence company, will not follow through. We spoke with Scott the owner about putting in drains and a fence. The drains were to be put in first, then the fence. We wanted to get this done before our renters moved in. We were told not a problem. We paid half up front. The day they were to be there came and went with no word or response for a week and a half. They did not complete the job before the renters moved in. Suddenly the fence was put in but no drains. The drains were to go in first so the fence wouldn't have to be taken down. The old fence was left in the front yard. Three weeks later the old fence was still in the yard and no drains. I had to call the company four times with follow up texts to the owner to get the fence removed. Finally, after four weeks, the debris was removed after the HOA threatened fines. Still no drains. Three months later, multiple calls and texts and still no drains. We have requested the money back that was paid toward the drains. So far, Texan Fence and Construction has not returned the extra funds or responded. Please avoid this company. A bunch of hot air and no service. Update: We have been reimbursed for money paid toward the drains that were never put in five months after the fact. At least we were reimbursed and now need to find someone to put in drains. read more
