Stopped by the one in Midlothian and the guy behind the counter seemed annoyed that I was there. Asked for the two meat combo, had to remind him to put the second meat on the plate, he didn't offer any bbq sauce, then asked for mashed potatoes and he put mac and cheese instead. When I pointed it out he said "whatever" and was going to scoop the mac and cheese out back into the serving dish and put mashed potatoes in. I told him not to do that and was again hit with a "whatever". Just told him never mind, I'd go somewhere else. Avoid unless you enjoy dealing with horrible service. read more

We wanted to find a good BBQ place to eat at so we looked for a place that had good reviews in the area. Once we arrived we were a little confused that it was connected to a Sonic and Gas Station and were a little skeptical, but still decided to give it a shot. Parking was vast since it was at a gas station and it was easy to find. Once inside we were quickly greeted and the aroma of BBQ was in the air which made your mouth water. The menu behind the counter was short and to the point and the selections were right in front of you so you could see what you were getting. I ordered the Cowboy plate, which comes with 2 meats and 2 sides. I ordered the Brisket, Ribs, Macaroni & Cheese, and Baked Beans. It also came with a choice of roll or cornbread. All together it was around $20. The cleanliness of the resturaunt was good and they even had a table shaped of Texas. Overall, it was great and the food was delicious! Visiting from Atlanta so I had to get some Texas bbq! Found this spot online and only a couple miles away. It was a Tuesday morning, 11:45 pm. It's located inside a convenience store gas station. That's fine. Plenty of tables for dining. Order and pay at the counter. All the sides are in a steam table so you can see everything. Nobody ahead of me so I ordered right away. Got the cowboy plate, choice of 2 meats and 2 sides. Got sliced brisket and pork ribs with Mac n cheese and bbq beans for takeout. Received everything hot and the portions were big.Brisket didn't disappoint. Tasted great, seasoned well nice smoky flavor. Ribs started out a bit tough. But ended up great tasting. Both sides were excellent. Quick ordering, great food. Cost was $22. Not bad. I've paid more for less in Atlanta! No complaints from me. read more

I had a craving for bbq one night and didn't want to drive all the way into Oak Cliff so I looked up this place on Yelp. The reviews were split but I wanted a loaded potato, kinda hard to screw that up. Good news- this location is right down the street from me. Bad news- all out of potatoes. Ok tried the chopped beef sandwich a little pricey but not bad, also got the peach cobbler. When I got home with my meal I REALLY got mad, I bit into my sandwich and it was mostly chopped fat! The flavor of the little bit of meat that I did have was pretty good. One reviewer called it....hit or miss. Mine was a definite MISS! I may give'em another try though. Ummm, this is good. Much better than expected. You see, the last time I went to a Texas Best was near Orange, and it was God awful. I felt like a rat trying to chew through wet rope. Not to mention the two Hispanic boys trying there best to impress the girl by seeing who could care less about the customer. Any way, I got the meatloaf special, mixed veggies, mashed potatoes, and cornbread, also some sausage for later. Meatloaf is a little bit spicy and a little bit sweet. Delicious. The potatoes are excellent with the garlic and butter. The squash and zucchini is seasoned well and the cornbread is light and fluffy. Definitely worth the stop. read more

I'm on the residential side of mountain creek and never knew this gem was tucked away within my view of exiting the area. The establishment was very clean ( I'm ocd lol) and the customer service was outstanding. I read the reviews but still didn't know what to expect coming out of a gas station so I went in with high expectations but still iffy. The reviewers are absolutely correct with their reviews. The food is absolutely amazing and I'm instantly hooked. I ordered brisket, ribs with mushrooms ( I know you're thinking mushrooms with bbq ) and mac-n-cheese. The ribs were excellent as well as the brisket.You can tell he uses come kind of flavorful wood and not charcoal. My only complaint was the mac-n-cheese and I'm a hard win over with it due to me being a mac-n-cheese junkie. It was ok and will do but I've had worse. The portions match the pricing. Overall I would with give this establishment a strong 9 and would recommend it. The food was fresh and didn't look dried out and it's set up like a subway assembly. I'm not saying this is incredible, innovative or super delicious BBQ being smoked by an artisan but I am going to say... if you stop for gas, grab some bbq. It's pretty tasty and way better than most gas station places to eat. On Tuesday and Thursday's they have turkey legs and they are wicked good. Their sayce is pretty sweet but it grows on you. So, this place is inside of the new mega convenience store on Mountain Creek Parkway. It also houses a Sonic. If you are looking to check this place out, make a right immediately when you walk in the door. From there, the counter to order is on the left side. As you approach, you are greeted by the slicer. The menu is only available on the marquee, and they have some great variety. Pretty standard variety for a BBQ place. It certainly doesn't feel as though it is in a gas station. There are ample tables for seating, plastic ware and "the fixin's" as well. The area is shared with the Sonic, so you have options. The staff is very friendly. They offer you 2 oz portion cups if you would like to sample sides, and will pass you a rib or slice of brisket if you are not sure what you want. As I don't eat meat or dairy, I snagged a potato without the toppings, a side of BBQ sauce and chives. My coworker got a rib plate. She can be pretty difficult to please, but she absolutely loved the ribs. She was also really impressed with the mac and cheese. My potato was great. It was huge, and cooked just right. I really enjoyed the BBQ sauce, and the onions from the fixins area were super fresh. I almost always finish my plate, but I couldn't in this instance. I am so glad we stopped in here today. One more impressive thing - being a gas station, doors opening and closing, a fly got in. As it buzzed it eventually landed on the cutting board where a sizeable amount of brisket was. Without skipping a beat, the slicer Cedric tossed the brisket in the trash, excused himself with the cutting board, came back and placed a new cutting board and a new slab of meat. He apologized, stating that the presence of the fly was not common, and wanted to make sure we were still comfortable eating there. True customer care. Didn't know what to expect as the joint shares space with a Sonic and a Tigermart (Exxon 7-11). Prices where higher than I expected. But the cheapest thing I could find (pulled pork sandwich, $7) was delicious and side of beans, with bits of meat ($3.50) was delicious too. I chose spicy bbq sauce over regular. The loaded baked potato looked great too, but $16 was too much for a late lunch. Great quality, clean place, pleasing decor. All at a gas station! This Texas Best and the one in Tyler are my favorites! Was in the mood for some BBQ but saw that they have street tacos on the menu so hubby and I opted for some of those! Boy were they delicious! I got 2 brisket and 1 chicken, and he got 2 chicken and 1 brisket. They loaded them with meat and all of the fixings that we like. I always have to get extra cilantro, onions, and lime with mine because well, it's just delicious that way. I come here often because it is close to work. I went to get a loaded barrel. The meat wasn't weighed like it normally is and she barely put any brisket on it. She then started adding condiments I asked for extra butter and sour cream. She wanted to charge me $1 for a small spoonful of margarine and $1 for a little squirt of sour cream. I could see paying $1 for extra condiments (plural). But the sign doesn't say you will pay $1 for each condiment. A teaspoon of cheap margarine shouldn't be $1. That is absolutely ridiculous. The lady was so adamant that each one is separate. Her attitude alone made me leave the food there. There was no way I was paying $20 for a baked potato at a gas station that barely had anything on it. I usually eat at least once a week here but I will not be patronizing this location again. I would gladly pay that much had it been worth it but it wasn't add in the terrible customer service and it's a no for me. read more

Texas Best Smokehouse is located inside ​a convenience​ store. At first,​ I didn't know what to think but as soon as I opened the door, the alluring smell of bbq hit me. It was a spontaneous decision to eat here and I'm glad my friends convinced me to try it. All the employees are friendly and made me feel like I was a regular. They were knowledgeable about their foods and helped me pick the best sides for my plate. The place was clean and well kept. When I went up to request napkins, they were nice about it. The sausage and the pulled brisket were delicious. They have spicy and non-spicy options for some of the meats and bbq sauce. They have a nice selection of sides including apple pie. Oh, they also have baked potatoes with different toppings to choose from. A good selection of sodas and a nice sweet tea to pick from. Definitely worth visiting I really enjoyed my (3) visits here and I look forward to being in the neighborhood and stopping by for good food. When I walked into the gas station, there were a total of 3 people there browsing...no Biggy, but I couldn't help but notice that all the front attendants were all staring at me as if I were Ms. Sticky fingers. I love that this place is right down the road from me! I've been a few times and I always get the pulled pork sandwich. Deliciously seasoned and well smoked. Not going back here for bbq. I bought cowbows combo , I chose chopped beef and ribs . Sadly both meats are extra dry , some pieces are as chewy as jerky. portion is small compared to other bbq place, i got only about two ounces of chopped beef and 3 small pieces of ribs ( they gave me burnt end too. Bbq taste bland without the sauce. Bbq sauce is tangy, you may or may not like it. They are not generous with their sides either, they give smaller potions of that too . I just got half as much as what I can get from boston market or kfc. It is pricey here and Combo meals does not include drinks. Their food sucks, even servers are not cheerful about it. They all just got a straight face like their manager. Not a good place to spend $15 dinner plate for 1 person. On a good note , the place is brand new so it is still pretty clean compared to spring creek. read more

This place is a hidden gem with good food and an amazing Texas shaped sized table. I was a bit skeptical about the BBQ turkey but it was amazing.
