In from Brazil so I went there and I love it,the service is a little different than Texas de Brazil in Baton Rouge ,but quality is the same!

I affectionately call this place the "meat hut!" There is so much food available to you that you will not walk out of this place without a limp. We'll get to the meat of this review in a bit...;-)...ha...get it??? Anyway, there is much more here than meat and all of it was delicious. You have several salads, apps, and sides to choose from. A word of caution. Don't over do it here. You need to save room for all the meat. There are easily a dozen different types of meat dishes you can choose from. It's quite daunting. They are all outstanding! And if this place wasn't so expensive, I'd tell you to sample about half then come back later to get the other half. Unfortunately, you'll just have to eat through the pain. Plan on easily dropping a bill for two people. You can also plan on spending twice as long here as you would at any other restaurant. And finally, as I mentioned above, you can plan on not being on good terms with yourself as you drive home, trying not to slip into a food coma. Overall, I'd say that it is well worth it though! This was my husbands birthday, and I was asked if it was a special occasion, and I replied my husbands birthday. You know what they did? Wished him happy birthday 100 times. no offer of dessert or appetizer or anything. We were not impressed at all. For 120.00 I expected much more. With all the hype I hear about this place or was a little disappointing. I mean the meat was alright but for how expensive it was it wasn't really worth the money. All the meat was cooked the same way - medium rare. For those that might like their meat cooked rare or we'll done it was sad. But not a bad place don't get me wrong! This was my first visit here, and my husbands 2nd. We made reservations about 30 minutes prior to arriving. They have 52 items to choose from on the salad bar. They then bring different steaks, pork, and chicken around on skewers for you to eat, quite frequently. They refill your water a lot. The staff are good at their specific jobs and nice too. They serve mini round rolls plus bring you out fried bananas to cleanse your palate between the meats plus they bring out mashed potatoes. The food and service are good. One thing that they did above and beyond was call us within Five minutes of us leaving to let us know that I had left my sunglasses behind. That is a plus in my book. It cost about 47 dollars a person just for the meal, so it is not a place you want to go frequently. Your bill will be more if you order drinks and dessert. It is a place that everyone should experience at least once. read more

A pleasant change for Memphis. Great for meat lovers with continuous to the table offerings of various kinds on large skewers. The salad bar is huge with many types of relishes and sides. I enjoyed just a couple that I had never tasted. For the most part except for soups most everything had the same seasoning and taste. I would pass on the little rolls. Ours were doughy and not baked enough in the center. My suggestion is to have better prongs to lift choices on salad bar up to the plate. This posed a problem. Overall, it was a good experience and I appreciated being invited as a guest. I would call it high end. Unless I missed something I didn't see prices. Went last night for the first time. Made reservations yesterday afternoon. As soon as we arrived I became upset and it almost ruined it for me. I told the host who I was and about my reservations. I was told there is a wait of maybe 15 minutes. I asked what good are reservations are for and then I tuned out the response I was so upset. Then she said we have seating upstairs right now if you like. wth? Dont tell me there is a wait then tell me you have seating. I'm sure they are used to people wanting to sit on the main floor so she didn't even bother telling me at first she had seating upstairs. I became a little calmer but was still upset. So we sat down immeadiatly and it was fine. I actually preffered upsatirs. It was smaller and a lot less hussle and bussle of the main floor. The main floor was so busy it was insane. Lots of people walking around so I think if I went back I would choose upstairs for this reason. Plus there are huge glass windows to look down below. It was nice. No bathroom upstairs but it was worth it to not have as much noise and commotion as down stairs. There is a small table to the left as soon as you get upstairs. They tried to seat us here and I told them no. Anyone who comes up or down the stairs has to walk literally right by you. Other than these two instances it was great. I am willing to go ahead and give it a 4 star. Thanks to the 32oz I had before on Beale I was able to deal with it bettet. This is as upscale as you can get while still wearing jeans and casual clothing. Meat was a tad salty but it was awesome. Recommended for special occasions. It is expensive here. read more

First timer, went for lunch. The vegetables and salad bar were quite yummy, fresh and creative. As for the large skewers of meat..... Fun, but not super high quality meats. I got the feeling that attention each item is a bit lacking as it is a bit of a meat fest. The lamb was over-seasoned, and the Parmesan chicken a bit under cooked. Awesome food -- Sub-par service. We had an 8 o'clock reservation. Was told they were running 5 minutes behind. Not surprising because it was a Saturday. We were not seated until 8:45. They seated us at a table near the bathroom (News Alert: Nobody wants to be seated at this table....ever). Our table was bumped 3 times during the first 5 minutes so we requested to be moved. They moved us into a section with a server who obviously was not having a good night. After that the rest of the evening there was hreat. I am finally getting around to posting this review. My wife & I decided to go for Sunday Brunch at the Memphis Location. The place was not that crowded so we were seated promptly. Our server Jerome, we thought did a good job. Not being that hungry, we opted to just get the Salad Bar. My wife & I both agreed the food on the salad bar was not what it has been in the past. Simply put, there were empty hot trays where food was eaten but not replenished, dirty plates in the stack of "clean" plates, the quality of food we both felt was very poor compared to past visits. The Salad Bar seemed very unattended by the staff and the food did not seem very fresh. In our opinion, for $29.95, each, this was a very poor visit and a terrible value for our money for what we would consider a "Fine Dining" restaurant. We have had better salad bars at Ruby Tuesdays and a Casino, and better salads @ Chilis for way less money. I am certainly not opposed to paying top dollar for a dining visit, but I do expect value for my money.We have dined at this location many times for birthdays & anniversaries and have been pleased on most visits, this time was not so tho. And since then corporate did respond to a private email. Their response was basically an Apology and ask for the mgr next time we visit so they could assist in our service. LoL...I mean that basically means he wants to make sure it does not happen again to us. Sorry...but I'm taking a gamble to return with the money it cost to eat at this place! #fail read more

The first time we have ever been salt shamed. We had lunch at Texas De Brazil Memphis Friday Oct 11, 2019. When the hostess greeted us she told us how the restaurant worked. She told us that everything is medium rare and cooked in rock salt. If we wanted medium or no salt, just ask. My wife usually prefers medium rare... I know... but was all about trying this out. after several cuts of meat that were actually pretty chewy and not that appetizing, they brought around the flank steak, my favorite. It was quite salty and rather tough. the next carver brought medallions and she asked if she could get it medium with no salt. She would have never asked, had she not been convinced that it was fine to request. The carver looked at her, "You don't want salt on your meat?" He said with a stern South American accent. Another carver walked up with parmesian drummies "She doesn't want salt on her meat" "Why don't you want salt on your meat?" She finnaly said, "Fine, the salt is OK can I get medium?" and they walked away. The next carver to walk up had bacon wrapped chicken breast. He wasn't even at the table or near the conversation. "Chicken breast in bacon?" "Yes please." "It does have salt, is that OK?" All we could do is laugh. This restaurant came highly recommended from a couple of different sources, so I hate to complain about the food, but all of the meat was very fatty and vary chewy. For the prices that they charge we were not impressed. The pallet cleanser (bananas in cinnamon) were the best thing we ate there. Also the website said that they validate for the Peabody Towers Parking Garage. Be careful, the closest parking garage is Peabody, but not the right one $15.60 for one hour. read more

I am a fan of this place and it's especially nice for big groups for work events or parties. The salad bar is unbelievable! It features a pretty decent lobster bisque and some delicious sauteed mushrooms. I also plie on the imported cheeses and italian cold cuts ( like I'm not going to get enough meat later, right?). By far the best of the meats are the parmasean crusted pork and the garlic sirloin. I would skip the sausage and chicken options in an effort to save room. The reason for the mediocre rating is that the meats are heavily marinated and although to me they dont taste too salty, you will wake up in the middle of the night coughing up dust and need an I.V. in order to get rehydrated. I'm not kidding, you could have sold me a Gatorade for $100 when I woke up around midnight. Also, remember to sign up online and give them your info. Oh my. Don't eat all day before you go there for dinner. The salad was extensive--you name it , it is on it. From delicious salmon ,sun--dried tomatoes, asparagus, shrimp and On and on. After emerging ourselves in the salad bar, we were unable to eat the skewered meats. Remember it is all you can eat. Only complaint you have to serve yourself the salad. Our server was professional and good. DO make reservations as this is a very popular dinning experience in Memphis. Noise level is quite high, but it adds an energy to the atmosphere. I have been to several Brazilian restaurants and I must say I was a little disappointed with this one. The restaurant itself is very elegant and clean, the wait staff were very pleasant. Ok so I took my daughter her for some much needed daddy daughter time, her first time here. We showed up for our 745 reservation 10 minutes early and were told we would be seated soon. 25 minutes later a hostess came to us and asked us if we needed help, they forgot about us and had been seating other walkins. Once seated our server took forever and didn't pay us much attention throughout. The food was good but your only option for meat was medium rare unlike every other place I've been were you have a choice from medium rare to medium well. One of the goucho's was more interested in the game on the bar tv then serving his sirloin by the time he sat there and watched and then came around the skewer was luke warm. We went on a Saturday night around Valentine's Day. There was a line to get into the restaurant. It was very crowded. Evidently they didn't stress a dress code, some people had shorts on. There wasn't much organization in the restaurant. The line to the salad bar went all over the restaurant. It was ok but not worth $98 for 2 people. read more

This place is expensive, but you gotta try it at least once. Every meal starts out with as many trips as you'd like to make to the gigantic salad bar which is enough great food to make a massive meal on its own. You can choose from numerous soups, veggies, meats, quality imported cheeses, etc. Once you're done with the salad bar, flip over your disc to green and the meats will keep coming until you flip it over to the red side. Some of the meats I could do without such as the sausage and the ribs that come nowhere close to standing up to the Memphis standard, but what can you expect, this is a chain that originated in Texas. Some of the other meats were wonderful such as the tri-tip, bacon wrapped fillet mignon and leg of lamb. You better be hungry when you visit this place, you'll definitely be hurtin' from eating too much food by the time you leave this place. The food is worthy of 4 stars but with the price easily exceeding $50 per person I can't give it more than 3. read more

We were treated as if we were not even there and she got mad when we asked her to remove some of our plates from the table. The meat selection was small; not sure if it varies by night. This was our second time to visit a Texas de Brazil but first time in the Memphis TN location. Our party was in town for the St. Jude Marathon and we ate dinner here directly after watching the Peabody duck parade. We were pretty early for the dinner crowd (5:20) and we did not have reservations but were seated immediately. Our servers were prompt as soon as we sat down. Two others in our party had never visited and our servers took the time to explain how things work and answered any questions they had. The salad bar is like no other. There were 50-60 items on the bar it was spectacular indeed. You do have to save room for the main course the meat! If you want to try different cuts of meat this is a great place. You eat until you get full. If you leave hungry it is your own fault. Each and everything I had was very good. Price wise a dinner for two with 1 soft drink and 1 water and no dessert was just under $50 with tax and all. I did visit the restroom and it was very clean and stocked. Wife and I came here for our anniversary. Yes it's a chain. And it's expensive. But the meats were nearly all cooked to perfection (only one exception: flank steak was very very rare, even for someone who likes rare). The"salad" bar is huge and has lots of delicious offerings, like shrimp salad, prosciutto, and a very good lobster bisque. Its a carnivore's wet dream. While the food was for the most part wonderful, the manager was the rudest slob I've ever met. Their website says they will "validate" parking, but we discovered that the manager thinks "validate" means discount it mildly, not make it free. Even after showing him the dictionary definition of "validation of parking" he proceeded to claim that he knows what he means and "let's agree to disagree" in a snotty manner. 20$ for an hour of parking is ridiculous. I've always thought of Texas de Brazil as a special occasion kind of restaurant, but last Sunday afternoon, I changed my mind! My boyfriend and I were playing around downtown Memphis and worked up quite an appetite! He suggested we eat at Texas de Brazil as it was so close to the Peabody Hotel. I figured it was perfect as we were both hungry and needed food fast! I was right, it was perfect!! We arrived about 2:00 and had brunch, which I didn't even know they served. Our brunch price not only included the salad area and meats but it included our coffee and desserts too! (How I had room to eat my entire dessert, the key lime pie, I have no idea!) It was a totally different feel from the dinner hour where I love wearing my favorite little black dress! I felt perfectly comfortable in my shorts and sandals! The staff as always was knowledgeable about the salad area items and were warm and friendly (a rare find in Memphis on a Sunday!) I recommend not only Texas de Brazil but the Brunch hour if you have never tried it before! read more
