We were in the general area for a business appointment and were seeking a good steakhouse. We were not disappointed. Fortunately, it was a Tuesday and I had.reviewed the website to view the menu prior to selecting this restaurant. I noted that there was a Tuesday surf & turf special (8oz filet & 8 oz lobster tail for $56. It wasn't on either the regular menu or the specials list but it was offered. We ordered the oysters Rockafelller which were delicious and 2 surf and turf specials. Both lobster tails were good but my filet was ordered rare but came out medium rare. Our excellent waiter Steve said he would replace it and a new steak came out in about 3 minutes! I was very impressed with the speed of the replacement which was perfect. She not only helped me decide my steak choice, she brought out an uncooked Australian wagyo strip and an Australian wagyo ribeye uncooked, to show me how they differed. I chose the strip and it was as good as I've ever had. We went on a Tuesday and Shayna told us they offered the surf and turf special so my wife ordered the fillet and lobster tail. She loved it. Went for Father's Day, no reservation as it was last minute but they were able to seat us due to a cancellation. They were about to close so we had to order pretty quick. The drinks were ok, not the best strawberry lemon drop I've had but good enough to drink. We had buffalo shrimp as an appetizer which reminded me of hooters (very good). My friend had mushroom soup which was tasty. The oysters Rockefeller were ok, not the best I had but were good. Our party of THREE was not allowed to be seated until every member of our group had arrived, even though we were ready to order drinks and appetizers while waiting. The bigger issue was how rushed the entire experience felt. We placed our order around 8:45 PM, well before the kitchen's 10:00 PM closing time, yet we constantly felt pressured to hurry through our meal. Plates were cleared quickly, the check was brought out promptly, and it felt like the staff wanted us gone rather than allowing us to enjoy a relaxed dinner. What was most frustrating was the handling of the bill. An 18% gratuity was already included (reminder for a party of 3!), but because we were rushed and splitting the check between multiple cards, we didn't notice it. We then added an additional 20% tip on top of the included gratuity. While we take responsibility for not catching it, the rushed atmosphere absolutely contributed to the oversight. Had the service been exceptional, this might have been easier to overlook. Very un relaxing meal was told the meal would be rushed and had 2 hours to eat. Told this first thing when we sat down told I had till 4:15 then had to get out not happy Father's Day. Ambiance is wonderful and we were seated at one of their high tables. Jill was our server and she was just as wonderful! We typically order calamari for an appetizer, but decided to try something different and went with the (east) raw oysters. Hubby didn't care for them but my son and I finished them off. A group of friends and I went to Primal Cut on Sunday, and unfortunately, we were all disappointed with the experience. I ordered the $69 bone-in ribeye, and it was full of gristle -- so much so that it was nearly impossible to cut with the restaurant's serrated steak knives. Ironically, when I brought the leftovers home, my regular non-serrated steak knife cut through it much more easily while preparing it for the dog. I've honestly had much better steaks at Texas Roadhouse, where you also get two of six sides included at no extra charge. My friends were also frustrated because they weren't made aware that upgrading from the side, the change came with a significant additional charge. Overall, no one at our table was impressed with the food. I had been here years ago and remembered enjoying it, but the quality seems to have really gone downhill since then. I think that it is very overpriced and overrated. I did not have a drink, and my portion of the bill was $105 for a gristly steak. At least my dog was happy, he does not mind gristle.. SUCH A DISAPPOINTMENT ... my friend and I selected The Primal Cut for our monthly girls night out. Our radar started to go up when our waitress seemed to not have the most inviting personality. Very dry ... very robotic... almost like... just give me your order so we can all go on with our lives. Shortly after placing our orders, the table next to us was seated with new customers. Our waitress waited on them as well. Being so close we could hear everything. What was most noticeable was how our waitress came to life for them. Initially I justified our waitress as just having a bad day. But when she became bright eyed, bubbly and conversational with them ... I went to the next, more obvious reason... seeing as how they were a party of 4 and we were a party of 2. The only other difference was - that table was white and we were black. Now our reservation was at 5:30pm. We were seated by 5:45pm as I was told that since my reservation specifically requested the "furthest booth from the entrance", they were still waiting for that table to become available. That was fine! Remember this - I requested a booth furthest from the entrance. It wasn't their idea. You'll see how this comes up later. We placed our order around 6pm. Could have been a little later. But I know for sure our main course didn't come out until 7pm. No complaints about the food on my end. But I do have a problem with being told when the bill comes that 1) there is a mandatory 18% gratuity added for parties of 2 and 2) there is a 3.5% fee for using your credit card. Neither of these stipulations were disclosed at the time the reservation was made. In fact, within the reservation confirmation email, there is a section that says "What to know before you go"... You know what it says? It says: " YOU ARE CONFIRMED. Thank you for choosing Primal Cut Steakhouse. Should your plans change, please let us know. We look forward to serving you." Nothing about the mandatory gratuity. Nothing about the 3.5% fee for using your credit card. After arriving home later that evening, I scoured through their website only to find these details were deeply embedded within their website. You have to click on "Menu" and then scroll ALL THE WAY DOWN to the end of the menu in order to find these details. This seems very deceptive. Something as important as this should be on the main page of their website. Especially within the Reservation Confirmation!! Customers should not be expected to read through the entire menu to find this out, or like us, find out once the final bill arrives. Something else I did not find on their website and wasn't included within our reservation confirmation was that you are only allowed 90 minutes to occupy your table/booth. Here's how we found out... By 8pm, who I believe to be the manager approached our table and asked how we enjoyed our meal. She then goes on to say "I know you ladies were chatting away, and that's why we gave you this booth so far away" ...(did you catch that... not that I requested it in my reservation)... She goes on to say "But each reservation is only valid for 90 minutes and we are getting backed up, and need to give this table to other customers... so if you wouldn't mind..." As mentioned earlier, the 90-minute seating time for our reservation was NOT disclosed beforehand. Not on their website (not that I can find), and not on the reservation confirmation. Keep in mind - even if that is their rule, it took an hour to get our main entrée. It was 7pm by then. By 8pm they were giving us the boot. Additionally, there were only 2 people waiting to be seated when we arrived. I didn't see a line, or a "back-up" as the Manager claimed. Needless to say, I believe this was very deceptive by not CLEARLY & OPENLY disclosing that 1) there is a mandatory 18% gratuity added for parties of 2, #2) there is a 3.5% fee for using your credit card and 3) Each reservation is only for 90 minutes. Regardless of the time your main entrée is served. If Financial Institutions and other establishments are required to be fully transparent and disclose their fees and stipulations around services rendered why wouldn't The Primal Cut?? After getting home and looking at other reviews, it seems other Brown and Black people have also experienced questionable treatment here as well... so this is nothing new... just not addressed. We all work hard for our money. For me, I'd rather spend it at an establishment that makes me feel like the prize and works hard to earn the money I've worked hard for and leaves me in eager anticipation of my next visit. One of the worst dining experience I've ever had-especially from Management I made a reservation for three, specifically requesting to be seated in the main dining area--not in the bar--because one of our party had just undergone surgery. Despite this, when we arrived, Manager Shanna and the hostess (who was clearly shadowing her) proceeded to seat us in the bar area at a high table without any prior notice that our requested seating was unavailable. When I asked why we weren't being seated in the dining room, I was met with rude and dismissive responses. Shanna bluntly told me that there were no tables available because "people were taking their time eating." There was no attempt to offer alternatives, no apology for the inconvenience, and no regard for the reason I made the reservation in the first place. We stayed only because we had driven 48 minutes to get there and my parents were hungry--not because we wanted to. What was supposed to be a fine dining experience turned into a $400 meal in a noisy bar area, completely defeating the purpose of our reservation. What made this worse is that Shanna never once came to our table to address the situation or offer a simple apology. As a manager, she failed to show even basic courtesy and professionalism. Watching her "train" a new hostess with such poor behavior was disappointing. She's setting that young employee up for failure. I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience deserved it. I'm really excited to share my recent experience! I planned a surprise birthday dinner for my fiancé, and it was amazing! We started the night with Rockefeller oysters as appetizers, which were delicious. The sweet honey butter with the dinner bread added a nice touch to the meal. Every dish was impressive. For our main course, we enjoyed a tomahawk steak and lobster tails for two. The tomahawk was cooked perfectly to medium rare, just how we like it. We also added mushrooms for a topping. My fiancé had rich French onion soup, and I had a fresh garden salad with balsamic vinaigrette. We also added cheesy Au gratin potatoes and crispy brussels sprouts to our meal. We ordered a couple Old Fashions for cocktails and they did not disappoint! (strong and satisfying) Just when we thought we were full, our waiter told us about their dessert! We picked the carrot cake, which was by far the largest slice of cake I'd ever seen!! It was moist and just the right amount of sweet. The whole evening was filled with wonderful food, great service, and special memories. My son had fried chicken tenders with French fries, and he also tried some of our dishes. I recently dined at Primal Cut with a party of four. While everyone else enjoyed their meals, I was extremely disappointed with my steak. I ordered a medium-rare ribeye, but one side was so heavily charred it was inedible. The waiter never mentioned charring was their standard preparation method, nor was it stated anywhere on the menu. I would strongly suggest informing customers how your steaks are typically prepared and offering them the option to request a different level of char or cooking style. At the end of our meal, our waiter informed us that a 3.25% fee is added for credit or debit card payments. Additionally, an 18% gratuity is automatically included for all tables. While our service was good--and I typically tip at least 20%--these added charges should be communicated clearly. Primal Cut management, transparency matters. Please consider informing your guests upfront about your steak preparation methods and any additional fees. Our experience would have been acceptable to say the least if we had not had the grand misfortune of an extremely rude and obnoxious experience with the manager on duty on 3/14/2026, a Saturday. This was one of the most appalling displays of ridicule I've ever experienced in my life, and I never imagined walking through something so traumatizing at a restaurant as seemingly esteemed as this establishment. After having my 2-month-old infant unknowingly counted as a person for our reservation, my friend's husband was forced to leave the table as he was the 8th person at a table set 9. Not only was he NOT allowed to dine with us with 2 empty seats available, but the manager also accused us of "using" an "extra body" as a "proxy" in an attempt to hold a seat for him or something of this nature. This manager stood over our table and taunted us very loudly as we adjusted to prepare for our dining experience. How warm and inviting, right? Given the social climate, this was a very bold and insensitive action committed by someone trusted in leadership. Being the gentleman he is, he left quietly as he humbly accepted it as another case of poor treatment and discrimination, as he and his wife are an interracial couple. I'm declaring SHAME on her, who has also made a poor impression on the staff, who appeared to be mortified by her treatment of us. We stayed because the birthday celebrant insisted, but our party and NO other party deserves this type of tasteless experience. Whwn guven my name upon arrival at check in, we were greeted with "Is everyone here?" instead of a friendly greeting in return or "Hi welcome in/The Primal Cut. We were seated within 5 minutes. The waiter was very helpful, gave his recommendations & very friendly after we told him we were all 1st timers. Appetizers: we ordered Fried Green Tomatoes. The batter didn't stick and they were very bland. We also ordered shrimp. They were a nice size and probably was the best appetizer of the appetizers we ordered. Entrees: My daughter opted for scallops and she was impressed. She said they were cooked perfectly and had a great buttered sauce to compliment them. I had a Ribeye which was cooked as requested (Medium) however, it was missing flavor. No good marbling/fat ratio either. The steak contained no seasoning. I tried my best to enhance it & added garlic butter which only slightly improved it but, it still missed the mark. Another entree we ordered was the 1/2 Broasted chicken. It was nothing to write home about. You can't get baked chicken wrong! It was tender and covered in a gravy sauce. Not bad. My senior mother enjoyed it. The Brussel sprouts were meh... The Mashed potatoes were good only because they were loaded so, it helped the flavor. My husband's Filet Mignon also was not seasoned. He had to doctor it up the best he could with salt n pepper. Out of 10..they earned a solid 4. Manager woman, needs to softened her tone and be a lil more friendly to guests. If you want this or that you betta..., we don't allow this...etc." 1st impression says a lot. She was the same person at the entrance of the restaurant when we walked in. She came off as tensed and a bit high strung. No welcoming smile or exchange of a greeting. Relax Lady!!! Geesh..take the weekend off, hit a spa & go get a hug from someone. Will I return? A hard NO?!! 75% of my food disappointed my taste buds & the sides didn't tickle my pallette. It's a steakhouse, I went for a steak & they failed to deliver! 1 side dish out of 4 ...it's a thumb down! I've visited some of Chicago's top steakhouses downtown & thought I found a suburban gem. The Primal Cut Steakhouse - Steakhouses Near Me - Tinley Park, Illinois

The service has definitely declined since my first encounter with this restaurant. Here's a list of my experience at the Primal Cut as recently as yesterday evening: 1. Hostess had name wrong on the reservation and advised me I didn't have a reservation. She then told me I was just seated - I asked how could that be if I'm standing in front of you? (Strange) It wasn't until she asked what my last name was, and I looked at the reservation that I was able to see what happened. 2. Once seated the wait staff was extremely nice and attentive. 3. There was a "weird" part of the evening when a waitress kept walking down the aisle between the tables and the booths back and forth as if she was looking for something. It was really distracting and went on for my entire meal at the restaurant. 4. I gathered the attention of the waitress who was walking up and down the aisle and requested a new "Fiji" water bottle. She returned with "tap" water and tried to fill my glass until I stopped her.... While she was apologetic it showed she needs help with her listening skills. 5. I ordered the Ribeye, and it was very bland. No seasoning, if I hadn't ordered the garlic butter it would've been worse. I had to ask for A1 sauce to give it some flavor. The steak was full of fat, and I had to cut a lot off it just to get to the meat. Very disappointing. 6. When the bill came, I paid the check (without looking at it) and kept talking to my friend. After, the waitress came over and explained I'd paid the wrong check. After reviewing the check, I discovered she was right. She wanted to: - Void out the check - When I explained she couldn't do this as I'd paid with my debit card and didn't want to wait 3-7 business days for my money to be returned, she seemed upset. - She then tried to take the receipt she originally gave me out of my hands. When I held on to the receipt, she said I need it and I'll bring you a new receipt. Whether you need it or not you shouldn't try to take it out of someone's hands. - She brought back a check that was a bit more expensive and had another gratuity on it. I stated I wasn't paying another 18% as I'd already paid this gratuity. She seemed nervous and it took me to figure out the difference in the payments. - The hostess came over to apologize but the manager never came over and never apologized or tried to see how she could make it right. I'm not a person who typically complains but this was ridiculous! For the service received and the cost of the dining experience I would've expected and have received better. I don't know when or what caused their service to decline but they should fix it and fix it soon. My friend was going to bring her family to the restaurant to eat, but after our dining experience, she opted not to go this route. To be honest, it will be a long time before I return. read more

Well, went to this place based on a recommendation from a coworker that it is fantastic. It was recommended to make an appointment. Well, I called and the person made it sound like she had to squeeze me in because they were "pretty full for the night." When we got there, however, place was primarily empty? When we left there was a large party in one of the rooms but in the normal areas, there couldn't have been more than 10 people inside? The waiter was fantastic, attentive, knowledgeable and quick. We ordered our stuff and everything came in a typical amount of time you'd expect. Big problem though, they screwed up the toppings on both steaks. I had mushrooms and garlic butter and the other was supposed to have garlic butter. Mine showed up plain and the other showed up with the mushrooms and butter. I pointed out the error and the person apologized. Within 3-4 minutes the person returned with the right toppings on the steaks. So basically you scraped the toppings off onto the other one and put new butter on one? What would've happened if she was allergic to the mushrooms you put on hers originally...? It clearly wasn't a new steak. The steaks were cooked correctly though and everything was delicious. The dessert was also fantastic. Then the bill came. I was not expecting two people to be over $300 nor was I expecting a forced 18% gratuity or a required 3.5% charge for credit cards.... There was zero compensation for screwing up the steak toppings but hey... you sure did automatically charge me for gratuity... I don't know if I'll be back. She seemed happy but for that type of price, I would expect zero errors, specially over something so silly like just reading what each steak's prep was... read more

*this is solely based on my experience with Laura, the hostess* I'm a frequent diner of the location in Tinley Park, IL. It was my favorite restaurant since moving to the suburbs however today was my last time stepping foot in that location. My husband and I went to the bar, was offered seats by a couple only for Laura to rush up to me saying she's there to hold seats for others waiting for a table. I repeated her and said I thought bae was first come first serve...she confirmed that while refusing my black husband and I to have time two seats. If guests wanted bar seating they should've been off to the side waiting like we were but I'm left feeling completely disrespected and disregarded. Happy Anniversary to us! read more
