I sent a message on Yelp to a business, and it went to a few providers, Diego from Texas Dry Out & Restoration was the first to reply, he asked for a photo and shortly after we had agreed on a time for them to come see my home the next day (I got lucky with their availability). Diego and Francois did a thorough inspection at my home. They walked me through the whole thing and explained what they saw and addressed all my concerns and gave me a lot of advice and suggestions on next steps, from the exterior to the attic. They made sure I had all my questions answered and assessed the entire situation. I'm thankful for their service and will call them again if I have another water leak situation. Upon finding mold in a downstairs closet, we looked to Yelp to find a reputable company to do the work. That was about 5 days ago, and the work has been completed by Texas Dry Out & Restoration. Francois came with Diego and checked the entire home, described the steps to remediate, got started the next day and left today after cleaning up. Francois and his team are responsive, informative, patient and a true wealth of knowledge. I, unfortunately, had a toilet seal leak and had to have water mitigation performed. I called a couple of companies, but Francois was the first to really provide, what I felt, was an honest assessment of the situation. He quickly created a plan, educated me on how the process for mitigation would work, and was communicative and professional every step of the way. Texas Dry Out started the work the same day and quickly completed the prep, demo, treatment and dry out. The house was prepped for build back and the contractors that came to quote the build back even completed the work done by Francois and his team. I have now had Texas Dry Out and Restoration at my house twice, for two unrelated reasons - once in September 2014, and now in May 2020. While I hope that you never have to deal with water damage in your home once, much less multiple times, stuff happens - and if it does, you're in good hands with Francois and his team. The first time, I was given Francois' information by another contractor. He was super responsive and came out same-day, diagnosed the issue, and started drying us out immediately. We had to have fans going for 5 days, and then they built it back flawlessly. We were impressed at the time with their speed and quality of work. As a bonus, Francois literally walked me through the house and gave me a treasure trove of home improvement tips that as a first-time homeowner, I'd never even considered. I even texted him a few times after the job ended about unrelated home related issues, and each time he gave his honest opinion. This time, when a toilet on our second floor leaked and caused damage to our first floor ceiling, Francois was literally the first person I thought to call. I called him at 7:30am on a Sunday morning, and he was out within an hour. Same excellent experience and unbelievable responsiveness - we had dry out fans going later that morning. By the following Thursday, everyone was back to normal, and you wouldn't have guessed that we'd had a gaping hole in our ceiling due to water damage earlier that week. They even helped fix up a couple of DIY projects that we never finished. Both times, Francois and his crew were respectful, prompt, professional, and responsible. Francois kept in frequent contact throughout the week by phone and text with updates. We also appreciated the crew cleaning up after themselves when they left the house, as we have two dogs and a toddler. Francois, Diego, Nicholas & their crew responded quickly to deal w/a major leak from a frozen pipe that flooded the master bath and two downstairs bedrooms. They tore out sheetrock, carpet, & tile and installed fans & dehumidifiers to dry things out. The work was very thorough & complete. We received numerous comments from contractors who bid on the reconstruction work about the quality & thoroughness of their work. Our insurance company reimbursed us in full for their job w/o question. I hope I never need their services again :-), but if I did I would use them w/o hesitation. They're great to work with. Francois was quick to respond to my request to inspect a home I was under contract on and wanted to have inspected for any possible signs of mold before purchasing. He made himself available for the inspection with less than 24 hours notice and was extremely knowledgeable and responsive to all of my questions. Short version: Water and mold damage caused by Hurricane Harvey had rendered our north-facing master bedroom wall a total loss. Francois came out and inspected the property, did exploratory demolition on the wall, cleanup and mold removal, and eventually reconstruction of the inner wall. He also helped us deal with the builder so that we could file for reimbursement for the work preformed (a process that took a very long time), and even checked back with us many months after completing work to see how we were doing in negotiations with the builder. Long Version: During Hurricane Harvey, my wife and I happened to be away from the house. With neighbors posting pictures and videos of water coming in from the gaps under doors and around the edges of closed windows, we were a bit concerned -- it seemed clear that most houses in our area were not made to withstand such intense rainfall for such an extended period of time. Upon returning to our house, we checked the attic and all the doors and windows and could not find any evidence of water damage. However, within the next two weeks, we began to notice small mold blooms around the edges of the electrical outlet on the north-facing master bedroom wall (Harvey's rain came almost directly from the north). Within a few days after that there were giant mushroom shaped mold colonies growing along the edges of the window above the outlet. Because our house is a new construction, we immediately contacted the builder: The builder advised us to contact our HOA -- the HOA advised us to contact our insurance company -- the insurance company advised us to contact the builder... I could tell that a game of finger pointing was not going to work out in our favor. I then contacted Francois, who scheduled an inspection of the property and determined that the wall was likely a total loss on the inside, as he noticed that the z-flashing was missing on the outside of the wall, which he estimated could have let a huge amount of water inside -- especially since the rain from Harvey fell "sideways" due to the extremely high winds. His inspection was very thorough and he also pointed out a number of other issues with the property, including some shoddy duct-work and windows that he noticed were not aligned in their frames properly, preventing them from closing all the way, despite appearing closed from the inside. He then scheduled a time to come back out to the property and begin demolition work on the wall. He and his team did an excellent job isolating the area with plastic sheeting and ensuring that no mold escaped from the area during demolition. After removing the moldy drywall and moldy insulation from the area, he called us in to show us the extensive water damage that had been done to the plywood inside the wall -- the water had soaked the plywood so completely that it had turned "to paper" and it was actually possible to poke a hole in the material with a finger and minimal force. With the wall removed, I contacted the builder again, who (this time) immediately came out and inspected the now-revealed damage, and decided they would replace the entire outer wall of the structure, as the issue was due to errors made (and corners cut!) during original construction. Francois was incredibly helpful during this phase of the work as well, as he helped us deal with the builder and gave us many tips as to what we should expect from them, and the kinds of documentation we would need to keep to make sure the builder did not try any questionable tactics or cut anymore corners. Francois kept in consistent contact with me via phone and text message, and when the builder had finished fully replacing the outer wall of the structure, promptly returned to inspect the work and to complete rebuilding of the inside. After work was completed, and the room was back to normal, Francois continued to keep in contact with me as I pursued my options for reimbursement. Francois provided excellent financial documentation and invoices of the work performed, that I was able to submit to the builder for reimbursement. Although it took many months for the builder to process the paperwork, they eventually reimbursed me for the full amount. Francois was an incredible help during every phase of the process, and helped keep us informed from start to finish, and I was especially impressed that he kept in contact with me nearly six months after work was completed to make sure that the builder reimbursement process was still progressing. read more

Their crews were efficient and did great work, David was onsite frequently and provided solid oversight so we got exactly what we wanted; also important, they really try to keep costs down while making the impacted area safe. The way they track the remediation and costs also made it very easy to work with our insurance to take care of the damage, I've had issues before and this was smooth sailing. They came out, looked the situation over, and told me that I needed the carpet and part of the dry wall removed, then needed to have the floor plates and wall studs dried out before doing any repairs to prevent having any mold. Diego said they could do the work; I asked how long before they could start. Diego made a couple of phone calls and said they could start that evening. They came back out, removed the furniture and carpet. The next day they started removing the dry wall to expose the studs and floor plates. Then they placed fans and dehumidifiers to start the dry out process. They came out several times to check the floor plates and studs for moisture before starting to replace the drywall. I was amazed at how quickly they responded to my call and were able to start working. When they finished replacing the dry wall, they textured the walls and painted them. Today you cannot tell that the walls had been removed and replaced; they did a very professional job. Everyone was respectful and courteous. They cleaned up each day before leaving. Francois came by several times during the process to make sure we were satisfied with the workers and the work they were performing. I hope I don't need them again, but if I ever have a problem, I would not hesitate to call them. The company did a thorough damage assessment and the owner, Francois Newkirk, took several hours to take pictures and explain to us the issues he saw AND the ways to address the issues. He explained in detail what repairs were required to correct the problem. The repairs had to be done over time and all subcontractors arrived at the times we were given.
