I've been going to the T Room longer than I can remember. The staff are fun, the clientele is unique, and the Westerns are my favorite burger of all time. All the way, double relish and a bowl with. Add a Hot all the way and a Dr. Pepper and you'll be set! The T Room is one of those places that brings people together. The diners range from young to old and across all social levels. One of my favorite things to see is a child's initial visit / Western / Bowl and happy parents filming the first bite! It's truly a rite of passage, and a legacy that passes from generation to generation. I prefer the OG location in Downtown Lynchburg for the nostalgia, but the other locations have imported the magic. read more

I had the flameburger and onion rings. The onion rings were on the counter almost before my butt hit the stool. The burger arrived quick and hit. The extremely friendly staff and quick service will keep me coming back when I'm in town. My first visit was during their soft-opening and the service was a bit haphazard. First this review is loooong overdue, since we first visited in May. My daughter went to college in Lynchburg and we became BIG fans of the T-Room! So happy they're in Richmond. The staff is always sweet- the food is yummy and you just can't find anything else like it. Recommendations: Cheesy Western (or homemade chicken salad on wheat if it's not "cheat day." Love the old-school diner vibe! I've been vegetarian for close to 30 years, so I have a lot of experience piecing together side dishes to make a meal. However, that was NOT the case here! The owner, Dave, took care to go through the menu and highlight each vegetarian-friendly item for me. I went with the Denver AKA a Cheesy Western without the hamburger AKA the vegetarian Cheesy Western, and a side of cheese fries. Tried breakfast for the first time here and it was mixed at best. The coffee was good and the biscuit was excellent but my over medium eggs were well done, the pitiful thin single sausage patty was average taste, the grits were lumpy and swimming in liquid yellow oil and the apples were okay but lacked any cinnamon flavor that is normally found in breakfast apples. The service was friendly and efficient! When I asked to taste the gravy to see if I wanted some for my biscuit I was told it is pre packed and I'd have to buy a 5.99 side dish with no tasting! read more

Good late night place to grab something "mid" to eat, relatively standard compared to other Southern places of this genre - no there isn't another time I'll come and it will change in quality (queue the owner responding to every review), the food is average and that's okay. Waitress was so overly friendly that she spent too much time talking about random stuff to other customers that she neglected the others, so our food was cold from sitting in the window a mere ten feet from us. I'd go again if I was drunk, a fratty dude with a backwards cap, or a marble-mouthed gumby talking about how stuff is "lit" or "gas" - but that probably won't happen. read more

Great spot! I got a lil' cheeseburger- amazing homemade relish, very unique. They sell it by the pint as well. My husband had the flame burger, he loved it. We split the chili cheese fries, (chili was a little greasy) When you ask for water, they refer to a cup of the James River and give you a very tiny child's cup of water. Smart marketing bc they want you to order a soda or float. The chef in the back is funny & eager to help. Overall great experience, we will go back for breakfast next time, which is served all day. read more

Since my family has a five generations of 5th Street Texas Inn patrons, what a joy it is to have our T-Room come to Richmond. The 9 year-old gave the RVA T-Room a 12 out of 10 rating. His Granddad (me) a solid 10, compared to the 5th Street 12 rating. Why? Hey, I am native of Lynchburg. Dave and the RVA crew are doing a magnificent job at the new location. It all started with deliveries to a parking lot on Cary Street from Lynchburg. Then the deal with Goldbelly. And now we can go down the street. Such a cool vibe!! Loved the atmosphere & even met the owner Dave who was super friendly and shared some of the history of Texas Inn. We ordered the Cheesy Western, one of their most popular sandwiches that I highly recommend. It comes with a homemade relish that is a mustard base and delicious and normally I'm not a big relish person. Also, tried a hot dog with their chili that was AMAZING. I recently visited the new Texas Inn location in Richmond and enjoyed two of their delicious signature items: A "bowl with" [chili with onions] and a "cheesy all the way". The staff was very friendly and the atmosphere was that of a fun diner serving an eclectic clientele from bygone years. As a Lynchburg native I've been to the original T-Room many times, and its great to see that this newest location maintains the original's Five Star Fast Food quality along with its personality, right down to copies of the funny signs decorating the walls. Was really looking forward to checking out this spot but truth be told, I could've waited. While the staff is very nice, the food is less than appealing. I ordered a lil cheeseburger and my first bite took me back to the hospital cafeteria.. so bland. Others in my party got the chicken salad sandwich. She said it was good. Hubby got cheesy western and says it was average. He also got a the famous hot dog.. all the way. He says he was surprised by the wiener. The fries were unsalted and not very appealing. Onion rings were cold, soggy, and smashed into a big lump. Hot dogs were cold and bread was stale. Burger was cold. Macaroni salad cost $7 but wasn't very good and was about a $3 portion. This place is an absolute gem - it exudes classic diner charm! 10/10 would recommend to anyone local or simply passing through!
