I'm hooked. The rib tips are simply amazing. The sauce is light and doesn't overtake the taste of the meat. It was cooked perfectly. The fries r really good too. The owner didn't tell me all the sides (forgot onion rings and fries). Luckily his son took over the register. This is Texas Pit BBQ "Renovated". Everything is the same except for the people, the menu and the food. New ownership? I had given Texas Pit 4 stars. The current people don't make it the same as before. Meat is slightly mushy and has no seasoning. They used to use a rub at Texas Pit. The steamy smoking ovens of this type require judgment on the amount of steam. The chicken is too soft, dry, and yet pink next to the bone - how is all this possible at the same time for the same drumstick? The cornbread is different, has a great texture, but is way too suh-weet. I don't like potato salad that tastes like sour cream. Everyone is super friendly and the new menu is greatly expanded, so hopefully things will approach the former quality as they gain experience. read more

I purchased a Living Social BBQ meal for 2. Regular price 39.99 for 20.00. I was getting the meals to go but still was asked to pay 1.60 for tax purposes. No alcohol as indicated on Living Social. First of all I was asked by the server if I wanted to purchase additional sides and I had told her no that it said 4 sides of my choice plus corn bread and soda. She started arguing with me about what I would receive and stated that the Living Social wasn't written correctly. I had to show her that I would get the side AND cornbread not the cornbread as one of my sides. When I got home the portions were small-medium. Clearly this isn't a meal worth 39.99. The ribs were small, and one meal had a small chicken leg. The sauce was good and the cole slaw and potato salad were also good just very small portions. The corn bread was dry. I went there for my first time the other day and a young man named Omar was very nice and made me feel like I was at home. I liked the flavor of the brisket, but the meat is not what you're gonna get in Texas. The ribs were also tasty. *previously posted on Texas Pit Bar B Que - RENOVATED* I've had barbeque beef ribs from Lucille's, the Tulsa Rib Company, the Newport Rib Company, Smoking Ribs, the Brew Hawg BBQ & Brewing Company and Wood Ranch. Have not gone back to any of these places for their beef ribs. Had not found beef ribs prepared the way I like until I had the beef ribs from Texas Pit Bar-B-Que. Cooked low and slow (I'm pretty sure), tender, flavorful & good amount of smoke (enough so you know it's there but not so much it overpowers the taste of the beef). The barbeque sauce is tomato-based (pretty sure); nice balance of sweet and tang (vinegar) and tiniest amount of heat. It's the sauce that comes with beef ribs when I place an order. Had always asked to get the ribs dry with the sauce on the side. Think it's their "mild" sauce. Haven't tried their spicy or hot ones. Today Vikings lost to the Bills . . . Minnesota got their butts handed to them by Buffalo. Wanted to end the day on a good note and what better way to do that than to have a dinner of my favorite comfort food. By now it was going on 5 pm and I headed over to Texas Pit Bar-B-Que. Was kinda sad to hear when I placed my take out order that there weren't any beef ribs (stupid me for not calling to place an order after the end of the 1st quarter, hours earlier . . . stupid, Stupid, STUPID!). Erin who was working the floor and taking orders at the register was friendly and attentive as she was the couple times before I'd been there (within last 18 months). Was touched by her genuine sympathy on seeing my disappointment and when she suggested I try the St. Louis Ribs, I reluctantly mumbled, "Yeah, ok." Second choice was better than no choice at all, right? Doubled up on the side order of corn bread (REALLY good memories of it) and got an order of buffalo wings; thought was at least I'll have those to fall back on when things don't work out with the ribs. I mean, HOW can pork possibly take the place of beef in a situation like this? Got home and part way through the third St. Louis rib I had forgotten about the corn bread and wings. Meat on the ribs was flavorful, moist and tender but not so tender it all slips off the bone all by itself. Could take a nice big bite out of the meat without a struggle and the rest of the meat stayed in place on the rib. I now know EXACTLY what Myron Mixon, Tuffy Stone and Aaron Franklin mean when they talk about pork ribs that have the correct level of doneness. The mashed potatoes with gravy were home-style and the way I'd want them to turn out if I had the time and inclination to cook more at home. Had steamed vegetables too to make my doctor happy. St. Louis Ribs instead of beef ribs for dinner? It's like getting a handshake at the end of a really good first date instead of a kiss - not exactly what you wanted, but hearing "We need to do this again sometime . . soon" while getting the handshake still makes the handshake a REALLY good thing, right? Food I've had so far I've liked it all enough to keep going back and won't limit myself to just the beef ribs. Beef ribs available? I'll get those. If not, GONNA try something different each time they aren't. What's life without new experience? Whole place is clean and well lit. Hope you like country music. It's in the background coming over the house speakers-enough so you can hear the song being played and start to sing along if you know the words, but not so noticeable it gets in the way of normal dinner conversation. Atmosphere is friendly, relaxed and casual mostly because of Erin. Previous visit I had gotten a full-rack beef rib dinner and a couple extra sides in addition to the ones that come with the dinner. Had a lot to take out to my car that was parked just outside (LOTS of convenient parking). Picked up what I could and planned to make a second trip for the rest. Without being asked Erin picked up what I couldn't and said, "Here, let me help you with that." She followed me out to my car and waited while I opened the door to put away what I had. Said she could put down what she was carrying on the roof of my car. She said, "Nice car like this? Don't be silly." Maybe she knew or sensed that my car is the current love of my life. Full marks for great customer service regardless. So if your team looses next Sunday, make yourself feel better and get over to Texas Pit Bar-B-Que for some good comfort food. Chit chat a little with Erin. That alone should be enough to make you feel better. If your team wins, celebrate by doing the same thing. All I can say is "wtf!" We love some good BBQ and we are always looking to try new BBQ places. Our first time here and we ordered pulled pork, brisket, Mac & cheese, bbq beans, mashed potato's & gravy, macaroni and potato salad. Pulled pork was cold had a fishy taste and almost as if it was canned. When pork is bad it starts tasting fishy. We didn't even get our brisket. Mac & cheese is seriously like knock off Kraft deluxe Mac & cheese but they water down the cheese liquid from the packet to make it spread out through more noodles. BBQ beans were hard. Macaroni salad was all mayonnaise. Potato salad was actually pretty good. Mashed potato's weren't too bad but they were pasty like and we didn't get any gravy. My kiddos were hungry so we all tried a little bit of everything and we just couldn't eat it. Shortly after taking a bite of the pulled pork we all got the worst stomach aches. I'd say save your money and go to famous Dave's, Hambone's, or Lucille's. This Texas pit bbq is terrible and they really shouldn't use "Texas" in their name. The staff was very friendly. The food however was mediocre at best. I purchased a Groupon which came wit 5 pounds of meat and sides. I was very disappointed in the potato salad and coleslaw. Both were devoid of flavor. The beans were very good though. The pulled chicken and pulled pork were not as good as expected, I ordered a pint of macaroni and cheese which was not up to par at all. Awful and unacceptable... Had to wait almost 2 hours for a catering order that I placed the day before and paid for. I would've asked for my money back and went elsewhere but it was Super Bowl Sunday and I had friends coming over soon and most other places weren't taking orders anymore. I've placed catering orders from this restaurant in the past and never had a problem.. I usually arrive on time like I did this Sunday and pick up my order but not this time. When I arrived, they said it would be a couple minutes to get my order because it's Super Bowl Sunday. As I was waiting, I could hear other customers getting frustrated because they have been waiting a long time for their orders they have placed days before. When I would check on my order all they could tell me was that they were working on it... They seemed unorganized and could hear the girls at the front counter being yelled at by the two guys supposedly cooking the food in the back. After an hour they told me they had run out of ribs I found this hard to believe and frustrating because I previously placed my order and already paid for it...so with friends coming over soon I switched to something else that was already cooked and then another hour my order was ready. We told her we were auditioning them for an upcoming family event and she quick to recommend the sampler platter. Excellent choice! Wanted to try this place because of the good reviews. I guess Yelp is broken because $50 later my boyfriend and I ate, what I suspect to be, the same quality Texas serves in their prisons. The cashier luckily got some texts done before looking up to serve me and didn't let me know there was only Coke left in drink machine until AFTER I paid. I went there with my three kids. Wanted to try this place for awhile. I go in, place is empty, sit down with the menu, and waitress comes over. I tell her that's it's my first time here, and to give me a few minutes to look over the menu. Instead of saying ok and returning a few minutes later, she tells me to order the ribs and chicken. I tell her my kids don't like chicken and ribs. I told her we like brisket. She points to one part of the menu telling me what to order. So I said ok. And I told her kids also like sausage, so we ordered it a la carte. When we get the brisket, I thought they made a mistake because it looked like pulled pork. I tell the waitress, I'm sorry but we ordered brisket, not pulled pork. She says, no, that's brisket. And walks away. So I go grab the menu, and I saw that it's chopped brisket. Sure, it's my fault for not reading the menu carefully, but the waitress never gave me a chance to read the menu. I didn't even know there was such a thing as chopped brisket. The only brisket I've ever had was sliced. The owner happened to see me looking at the menu, and asked me if I needed anything. I told him I didn't know that the brisket was "chopped", I told him it's my fault, and no worries. He was still nice enough to give me some sliced brisket for free. As for the sausage, it was super spicy. I didn't know about that, so the kids couldn't eat it. And the bread they give are sandwich buns, like the ones they use for sloppy joes. Sigh. They'd be better off using sliced bread or rolls. The food itself was below average. Ironically the chopped brisket was the best thing we had, although it tasted suspiciously like something we had from Costco. Same for the sausage. It's the type of place you want to be good because we need more places like this to be good. But it's just not very good, and although the owner is nice, service and food could be much better. read more

Pulled pork was not good. Buns are just bagged costco buns. Sides are below average in taste and freshness. Pork was not even as good as the costco boxed stuff that you microwave / bake. They charge you tax, which the groupon is supposed to cover. It's also laughable that its meant for 12 people, the meal's good for approximately 8 max. I can tell why their groupon is so cheap. They also tell you to call 24 hours in advance for their best of the west, yet their fine print specifies one hour. Overall a terrible experience. read more

I've been ordering from Texas BBQ non-stop ever since I discovered this place almost a year ago. I've tried all the BBQ spots in my area - Texas BBQ takes the cake on quality and consistency. I've tried everything on the a-la-carte menu. I order by the tray on the weekends via delivery. Every item has that backyard homemade BBQ taste and goodness. Portions are very generous. I don't know if there are new owners, management or if this place just stopped giving a damn, but I WON'T BE GOING BACK... my family and I used to really like this place: great food, good prices, WONDERFULLY FRIENDLY STAFF, with a nice, little charming feel to the 'hole in wall' joint that it is. However, today THAT CHANGED: prices were up - almost $60.00 for FOUR (4) sandwiches/fries/drinks, being told I COULDN'T get what I wanted because it 'was only for kids', being told only AFTER leaving a tip amount that 'they would call us to the counter when the order was ready' (they used to bring it to you), unsure if they even had TURKEY & CHEESE for sandwiches AFTER informing us the full menu was available, the tables were dusty and some didn't look clean AT ALL, and the changes to the charming, little 'hole in the wall' made it seem cold and distant- But HEY! Look, we put signs up and play country music, so you can feel like you're experiencing a 'real Texas BBQ'...
