I've been to this restaurant more than any other restaurant. Probably 100 times and many different locations. The last 5 times I've been there, Bangor location, is a disappointment. Did they just change how they cook their food and temperature standards? I always order medium-rare. 1. Med rare prime rib but they give me an end piece. That means is not med rare throughout the steak 2. Med rare prime rib but end piece again 3. Ribeye, slightly overcooked 4. Hand picked Ribeye cooked perfect inside but burned both side. I was biting into charcoal to get to my med rare steak 5. Prime rib, order RARE at lunch this time and was told they only have med rare when I asked waitress what I ordered after they bought out the food. It was still slightly over cook. Not the med rare Texas Roadhouse always serve. My dad's porterhouse was well done when he ordered med rare. We stopped by this location today at 12:15. There was a wait so we left. After discussing our local options, we decided we wanted to eat here. (2 adults and 3 children). I decided to call to reserve a table. We had another hour to wait so we ran errands before going back to the restaurant. We texted as instructed when we were back in the parking lot. Only another couple of minutes wait and we were inside. The place was still packed but we we directed to a nice booth. Our server greeted us and had fresh rolls on the table within a minute. She recommended the blooming cactus so we ordered that. Kids ordered from the children's menu and my daughter and I ordered ribs. Our food was delicious and plentiful. We were quite full from the rolls and appetizer so we decided to take the majority of our meals home for later. Our server, Kahla, was so pleasant! She kept the table cleared and cups full. Went to Texas Roadhouse at opening time at 3:00 because I woke up a little late. I got the Blooming Cactus with some ranch dressing and the onions were very good, and are always good when I go. I than got a House Salad, which was a generic salad which is good! I finished it off with the pulled pork dinner and a loaded sweet potato. The loaded sweet potato was a 9/10 appetizer. The pulled pork is top tier but tastes different than other. The service was great, and we got our drinks pretty quickly after finished. Sadly didn't take any photos. Appetizers arrived with the meal rather than before. Silverware was filthy, they kept bringing new utensils, but each was as dirty as the previous ones. My husband and I ate there while on vacation. We both got filets. His was thick (about 3 inches high) charred nicely and he said delicious. Mine was no higher than one inch and flat with no charring at all. I was so disappointed. I asked the waitress why and she dismissed my question saying filets are different sometimes. I've never really liked Texas Roadhouse except for the rolls and this confirmed my dislike of this place. I asked for a medium cooked steak. Firstly, they usually ask for us to cut into our steak and the waiter didn't so I thought that was weird..and when I did cut into it was completely cooked. Also it felt like hamburg in my mouth. My friends got the wings and potato skins and they said the wings were hot but tasted nasty and the potato skins were rubbery and looked like they just came out of the microwave. I took my daughter there for her 9th birthday as she was excited for them to make a big deal out of her (she doesn't typically like attention brought to her in public but was excited for this)... when we arrived the hostess told us it would be about a 10 minute wait, and asked if we had any special events. I let her know that it was my daughters birthday, she said she made note of it but to let my server know as well. When we got seated I let him know and I even mentioned it 2 other times after that... appetizers came, the meal came (food was mediocre) and My Daughter mentioned that she saw a couple of servers looking and pointing to our table.. she got excited because surely, a song was coming soon.. we ate, the server stopped back by our table and asked if we would like any boxes.. we requested a few boxes.. he brought them back with the check... and we left. Came here on a Wednesday, when they have a $9.99 special of an 11 oz sirloin with two sides. The atmosphere is warm with country music, sports on tvs by the bar, and the staff occasionally line dancing. Service was attentive and patient. I got a Dallas Ribeye which was delicious, but it came with a good amount of seasoning on top, so if you're a steak purist you might want to tell them to go light on seasoning. The other thing is that the waitress asked us if we wanted extras without implying that they cost extra--trying to help her sales, I guess, but I was a little confused. I had an original margarita with a "kicker," that is a floating test tube holding tequila and triple sec...yum. It was a fun place, especially compared with Longhorn Steakhouse, where the mood is kind of...somber? Also, it was super crowded for a Wednesday. Definitely my pick for steak in Bangor. I've honestly never understood why restaurants don't take reservations. It is inconvenient for the whole party. I tried to make a reservation for a party of 20 five days in advance and was told I would need to call back the day of and would most likely be sat at 3 or 4 different tables. It was a day, in November, our waiter Micheal came to our table with such swiftness your head would spin. I ordered a Man's size steak, because a woman's sized steak just wasn't going to cut it. I declined choosing my cut of pure beefy goodness and elected to leave my fate to Micheal and his trusting eyes. His choice left me all but breathless as this cut of meaty godliness presented to me cooked to pure perfection. The marbling of this steak god was only rivaled by the swiftness of Michael's actions, as my chili bowl was retrieved at such speed not even the essence of chili remained. Worst place ever. Cannot help with allergies or restrictions. They are so ignorant and would rather poison you than be honest or go out of their way. Even without allergies you may not do well with all the chemicals in their "food." You'd think that they would at least have good customer service, but think again! @ 5:30pm on a Wednesday this location is already out of Prime Rib. This will be our last visit. 4 out 5 visits in the last 90 days. It has been the same. We arrive earlier each visit yet the result is the same. This represents poor planning and shoddy management. I would not only not recommend this Texas roadhouse but encourage anyone else to go out of they're way to eat anywhere but here. $78.00 and not to receive what we wanted. Go elsewhere. read more

I have never been to the Roadhouse so I took my mom there for dinner the other night and we decided to sit at the bar since there was about an hour wait. The bartender was a woman and since there were a few men at the bar, it was about 15 minutes before she even looked our way. I used to work in the restaurant business and people will exaggerate about their waiting time. Mine however, was not. I finally got her attention and when I did she said she would be right with us and then proceeded to take the drink orders of the people next to us who had just literally sat down! Who by the way were men! At that moment we decided to leave so if you are a woman, and there is a female bartender, don't sit at the bar. We came here this past Friday night for my birthday. We did the call ahead seating and, amazingly, we got right in within less than 5 minutes of arriving. We expected a significantly longer wait being a Friday evening. This was actually only our third time coming here since they opened about 10 or 11 years ago, solely because of the fact that they are usually completely jammed with an extremely long wait, which we are usually too impatient for. I guess we lucked out this time. Once we were seated, we were immediately given fresh, hot rolls with cinnamon butter, which was great since we were starving. Our waiter arrived at our table just a couple of minutes after we were seated. He took our drink and appetizer orders and was very quick to return with our drinks and our appetizer came out very shortly after. All of the food was delicious. They definitely have some of the best steak in the area. They did embarrass me slightly by coming over to our table and having me sit in a saddle while they belted out an announcement regarding my birthday to the entire restaurant. It was a nice gesture, but I really could have done without it! One thing that did surprise me was that they didn't offer a complimentary desert or appetizer for my birthday like most other restaurants do. Oh well. It's not a huge deal, but it just kind of surprised me that they didn't offer anything like that. The only real complaint that I have about this place is that it tends to be quite loud a majority of the time, making it difficult to carry on a conversation, but it was bearable. Just don't come here if you're looking for a quiet night out. This definitely isn't the place for that. Overall, it was a good experience. Both the food and service were top notch. I don't usually give a five to chain restaurants, but this place deserves them. Situated in the entirely unprepossessing Bangor Mall, there is a warmth when you walk in that says "welcome." It's all very "southern", but not tacky. There's a goodly sized three-sided bar, booths, tables of various sizes and a high roof to give the illusion of space. It's a barn! We were quickly seated, not far from the bar and our waitress was in attendance shortly thereafter. We ordered Margaritas and having confirmed that this was our first visit, were presented with a sample tray of the restaurant's sides and a goodly chunk of bread cooked on the premises. If we'd been bad people, we could have paid for the drinks, eaten the freebies and walked. But we stuck in there and had a burger and a half rack of ribs. Both well presented, tasty and filling. Service was bang on, for this sort of place. Attended to quickly, drinks in. Food order taken as the booze arrived. Food within 10 minutes. Checked on as we were about a quarter of the way in. Bill presented promptly (we were heading to the cinema) and dealt with in a timely fashion. All in all, precisely what we wanted, for a good price and with delightful service. read more
