I would not go back, the Two stars are for the staff -the manager brought my order after it was re-made with a smile and great attitude our waiter was very nice and the hostess was also very nice. The food and atmosphere however are not on the same level. They left a a pen and signed receipt from the last customer on the table the table felt greasy the menus were dirty. The fried pickles were cold and soggy the cup of ranch had a crouton at the bottom which killed my appetite after finding it. There was someone COUGHING loudly with congestion at their booth the entire time we were there with the measures taken for Covid that should have been handled. My burger came out with a rock hard bun. They re-made it and boxed it for us when I cut into it later at home it was pink and bloody I had ordered it well done to top that off it wasn't the burger I originally ordered either. So all around it was not a good experience. 2 out of 4 of us felt sick to our stomachs later that night I'm not sure which one of the dishes caused it. read more

Everything on the menu is absolutely delicious & super flavorful, served well & they know how to make your steak exactly how you order it. This place was a major disappointment, a few days earlier I dined at the Texas Roadhouse in Austin Texas and I had a great experience. So when I came down to visit family and we had a craving for Chicken Fried Chicken or their Country Chicken we decided on this place. I had a great experience at one so why not. . At first I was happy with the nice host and but then they took us to a small section right behind the host stand. When we arrived at our table we were surprised to see a dirty table. We were then told to wait so a bus boy can come clean it while the table to the right was clean and not occupied. We then asked to sit there and were told no at first cause that sat 6 and we were only four. We then told the girl it was fine we will just sit at the 6 top. After that a server came by and seemed nice. She came by w/o bringing silverware or the dinner rolls. She took our drink order and left spoke to another table, she then went off for about 5 minutes then returned with the rolls. I asked her for silverware she said she would get some and left again about 5 minutes later she returned with our drinks and I once again asked for silverware so I can put butter on the rolls that were now getting cold cause they had been sitting for 10 minutes. She sighed or huffed and said okay she would get them and left the table. Again she left for 5 minutes in this time she visited a table near us and saw that we had three empty drinks at our table. She took their order and shortly brought our silverware. When she dropped the silverware she did not acknowledge the empty drink, she just dropped them off and walked away . By this point it had been 20 minutes since we were sat that we received silverware and still waiting on her to take our order. About 5 minutes after that I asked a host if she could take our order . The server then came acted all sweet like she was good at her job asking if she could take our order and still did not acknowledge the empty drinks. A few minutes later she brought one drink I repeat one of the three people's empty drinks and walked away. At this point I was extream frustrated and when I saw her standing and chatting with a coworker I got up took her my empty glass asked for a refill and get the manager. Shortly after doing this the manager came spoke with me and the rest of the evening was better. The food itself was mediocre and the country gravy tasted funny. I only tipped this girl 15% which is only because I am in the industry and would feel horrible leaving a bad tip. She did not earn that 15% that was a pity tip. She could have doubled that had she been a better server. I will not name her but she knows who she is. We were there Wednesday 10/28/2015 at around 7pm . I visit McAllen once a year and make it a point to spend at least 4 evenings there out of a two week stay. I love the the Bar staff, they are friendly, courteous, attentive and love what they do. Managers always introduce themselves. The Ribeye steak is my favorite dish. I have had this steak no less than 20 times over 5 years, the best ever. Veggie platter was delicious. However the service was not good at all. The salad plate was dirty and manager never came out to apologize. Everyone in the workforce is aware of the "lunch hour" and waiters shouldn't take a long time giving you the check. I had to stand up to get the waiters attention. When I stood up another employee came to clean the table when I hadn't even paid. I had to grab all my stuff since he had to sit to clean it off for the next customers. Okay I need to make this clear. Now I've been to some pretty good steak houses. Shulas Steak House in Miami, Knife, Salt Grass, various Argentinian steak houses, and Bar American (yes THAT Bar American. Bobby Flays restaurant) in NYC, but Texas Roadhouse is my #1. Okay okay, actually my #2. Balthazar in NYC is actually my #1, but I won't hold it against you Texas Roadhouse. On my first visit, the customer service was outstanding. Both the hostess and server were very polite and just exuded a happiness that we were there. Whether it was fake or not, they made us feel welcome and comfortable. My fiance and I ordered their fried chicken critters. They were delicious and very satisfying, especially since we had a hankering for good fried chicken. The breading was very very crispy. Just how I like it. The breading also did not slide off the chicken. I hate it when a restaurant doesn't use a proper frying method when frying chicken. One mistake in the coating or frying process and the fried chicken is almost ruined. You never have to worry about the coating sliding off here. They got their frying game down packed. On our second visit, the service was slower, but they were packed and all the servers were very much in the weeds. Having worked in 3 different restaurants myself, I could empathize and did not become irritated. I decided to order The 12oz NY Strip, medium, smothered with caramelized onions and brown gravy. When my steak came it was cooked a little below medium but not fully medium rare. Actually I wouldn't have minded medium rare anyways. The cook on the steak was absolute PERFECTION! I mean it was textbook perfect. The look of the reddish pink center was like something you'd see on Master Chef. My steak was "eyes rolling to the back of your head" delicious. Oh and the brown gravy just made it positively orgasmic. One of the best steaks I've had. Considering this is a chain restaurant, I have been pleasantly surprised each time I go. I came to have dinner here for a birthday and I was not happy with my experience. We got our food but we have no silverware, we asked for it multiple times even before the food got here and we still never got our silverware. I believe that is one of the first things we are supposed to get when being seated, definitely not after the food has already arrived for several minutes. As I was about to eat my food, I start mixing up my loaded baked potato and notice there was a long piece of hair between it all. I politely told my waitress to retrieve my plate and that I did not want anything anymore. Visited last night as an alternative to pho because our favorite pho restaurant was closed before we could get there. When we arrived, they had an hour before they would be scheduled to close. No waiting at all and our server, Bianca, was absolutely amazing! We loved her genuine attitude of enjoying her job. Her smile is contagious. Hubby and I ordered sirloin steaks that came out delicious. The food, the atmosphere, and the service was absolutely unforgettable. Worst experience at a Texas Roadhouse.I've eaten at The Texas Roadhouse around the country, so when wife and I saw one when we were in McAllen. We went in. The music was so loud we could hardly here each other. When my steak showed up it was burnt on the under side. Someone forgot it on the flat top. I did even try it. I could see how chard it was from the first cut. I had to return it. Waited 30 minutes. My wife had finish and my 2yr old just could handle the loud music. I told the waitress to cancel the steak. She apologized and got out bill. As I was leaving I saw the manager and told him how the loud music had ruin our experience. He said that it gets louder after 6pm. I told him they must not want families to patronage the restaurant. All he said is they like to keep the atmosphere peppy. I told him it was not peppy, it is loud. He did seem to care. read more

Came here with the fam to celebrate an occasion. Full house, but got seating for four within 15-20 minutes. Extremely well staffed, made for great customer service experience. Waitress and hostess were extremely friendly, but genuine. Manager made rounds to be sure we were pleased with how our meal turned out. Busboy came around to retrieve piled dishes. A man, not our waiter, offered to bring refills. My only complaint pertains to the offer to get a free app on completing profile on their app. They do not offer free public WiFi, and so I was unable to download the app the entire time we were there. I know, it's a chain. But when one has steak on the mind and one does not have a fortune to spend on it, this is a nice place to go. Good choice of sides. Tasty meat. And rolls. And the peanuts are just plain fun. This location is rather close to our home, so that is a plus for us. My main complaint is that it is often quite noisy. Really noisy. There was basically no wait to be seated (3 ppl) and the restaurant was packed. Three birthday groups were there +the regular crowd. Our server Michelle got our drinks quickly and recommended the first appetizer, the jalapeño shooters. They're great, not to hot but has kick. Michelle kept those sweet tea glasses coming as quickly as I was finishing one. She's awesome! She helped me make a choice of steak and I went with her recommendation of the Medallion steaks in peppercorn dressing (med rare) with broccoli. I was amazed at how tender the meat was. It was like a pillow of soft tender meat. I got the Peppercorn on the side bc the steak's flavor was exceptional and didn't need it. the cook seared the meat perfectly med rare!
