So this Saturday, prior to catching Bullet For My Valentine in Pittsburgh, Kay and I stopped into Texas Roadhouse. We had been meaning to stop in and kept putting it off, but at a loss for UnYelped businesses, we were left for a perfect excuse to try them. And I must say, everything was pretty fetchin', bitchin' even. These colossal buns, each as big as Kimbo Slice's fists, all of them as freshly baked as a Tim & Eric fan, are placed before us, that famous cinnamon butter waiting to be slathered on them, and slather it on we did, devour them we did. Christ, give me some of these and some soup, and I'd be satisfied. I mean, you know what freshly baked bread is like, right? If so, adopt a grandma. You don't ever get around to making sandwiches with it. You just bake it, and eat it, with butter. Elementary bliss. The same could be said for my salad and its honey mustard vinaigrette. Hey, I had to get off the ranch dressing habit, and the superfine sweet honey mustard helped me ease of out that rut. Grilled Shrimp came next, skewered like Bill O'Reilly was when he was a guest at a Late Show With David Letterman taping and laid across two garlic lemon pepper butter-soaked buns with more of that magic butter off to the side. The shrimp was al dente, excelente. The Fall Off The Bone Ribs were had by me in the form of a half-rack. Fall off the bone and fall apart in my mouth they did. The smoky meat was so tender, I ate the ribs with a knife and fork. The sauce was simply passable however. The Loaded Baked Potato, (topped with cheddar, bacon, and sour cream) I got as a side ranks highly among all the other "bakers" I've had at similar restaurants. What else to say about a baked potato? Thick hide, fluffy interior? It had it. We didn't partake in dessert, but based on the menu it appeared to be the same giant cookie/brownie sundae fare you'd find anywhere else. I'm tired of seeing them everywhere even if I'm a long-time fan of the concept. Crikey, aren't these steakhouses ALL the same? Aren't they all the grandchildren of Ponderosa and the children of Long Horn? It's strange how so many of them were founded in the high 80's/low-to-mid 90's, just like grunge. Heh. read more

Had Xmas Eve dinner here yesterday. The food was fine (except the onion blossom) and the service was really excellent. I have to take exception, though, to the amount of advertising plastered all over the restaurant. I guess I am kinda sick of this go-get-em corporate attitude that makes a manager come to our table during dinner and tell us his life story. I am sure he is under tremendous pressure to perform for the higher-ups, as are all of the other employees who are forced to wear stupid "I Love My Job" tee shirts...whew. I used to live by a texas roadhouse and always get excited about the warm dinner rolls. Now, I don't remember everything being super salty. Is it just this location? Whatever it is, did not leave a good taste in my mouth tonight. On top of that, our dinner rolls were burnt. Why did they even serve that? I ordered my usual pork chop with ceasar salad and steak fries. I was disappointed that they did not give me the peppercorn gravy, so my pork chop was dry. I went to TR a few days ago. I had the pulled pork entree, fries, and buttered corn. The fries were cold and burnt, and the pork was cold (but the corn was warm). The rolls and butter are always a treat, but they're like 200 calories each haha. We had Laya as our waitress. I've been to TR many times, and the service is usually pretty good. I don't know if Laya was having an off night, but it took 10-15 minutes each time to get drink or roll refills. When we asked for another minute to look at the menu, Laya came back about 15 minutes later. My friend and I debated walking out. Once the food came, I was going to send my entree back to have it reheated, but she took so long to check in on us that it would have all been cold when she got back. The restaurant wasn't even crowded considering it was 7 p.m. on a Sunday. The waitress next to us had all of her parties laughing. The restroom was also inexplicably filthy. Usually, it's decent. I can deal with the overcooked fries. The fact that nothing was hot is understandable in a setting like this (but not great). I would've given TR a solid 5/5 before this visit, but the service was so bad from Laya this visit that I'm dropping my rating down to 2/5. I'll come back, but I'm going to ask for Kayla or Kara when I go in. No manager asked us how our visit was, either. read more

So reading other reviews, i find out this is a chain restaurant. That doesn't bother me. A chain steakhouse is a steakhouse I guess. But i've just ate here with 5 people. We all had 1 appitiser which is the portion size of 1 full meal, and the total bill came to 35 dollars for all of us. It's pretty much your gressy grub, so dieters bewarned. But I didn't have anything from the dinner section, just appitisers. But really found the prices reasonable! read more

Not many places have as much character as the Roadhouse. It is by far the busiest restaurant in the area, and there is usually a wait EVERY night. Call ahead seating is a wonderful thing, and I suggest you take advantage. The interior is LOUD. The music is loud, the people are loud, the kitchen is loud. The booths are small, but the tables are average-sized. If you have a party of 3-5, I hope you like the people you're dining with, because you'll be sitting pretty close. After working in the kitchen here for a year, I can testify to the friendliness of pretty much all the waiters/waitresses. Things do slow down during the rushes, but not as much as some other restaurants I've seen. They do their best to keep things moving. I can also testify to the quality of the food. EVERYONE wears gloves and hat/hairnet. Everything is fresh and homemade. Actually, the lowfat dressings, hot dogs, and mac n cheese are the only items that AREN'T homemade. It's good food, and you're served generous portions. The rolls and cinnamon butter are unnaturally delicious. Seriously, they're not of this world. There are early bird and other deals every day/night, and prices are fairly reasonable anyway. Though, it's also not the cheapest place in town, either. All in all, it's a great place. The staff is friendly, The place is fun, the food is great, the prices are nothing to complain about. Did I mention James Harrison (Linebacker for the Pittsburgh Steelers) eats here fairly regularly? We stopped in here on a busy Sunday evening and were very disappointed with the service here. I had been here one time before and didn't have any issues. The wait was extremely long but we found two open seats at the bar area and took them. It took us a very long time to even get noticed by any of the people behind the bar. I had to ask one of them if she could take our order. She served us our drinks with other people's debris and leftovers still in front of us. My appetizers were served with my main course and the overall attitude of the two female bartenders really sucked. The male bar back was extremely nice and saw that there were issues and did his best to try and accommodate us. At the end of all of that we were given the wrong bill. I understand that the place was busy but they didn't seem to know how to handle a high volume of customers. The food was really great and affordable but the employees were rude and miserable to deal with other than the bar back. I would recommend that they promote him to bartender and demote the other two bartenders. read more

My fiancé and I went there for dinner last night. The hostess said it would be 20/25 minutes. After 45 minutes I walked up to return my pager. It went off. We decided to stay. We both ordered our steaks medium. Mine was medium rare and his we just about well done. We were already going to be late our movie so we just ate it. We have been here several times before. We came tonight for my sons birthday. Three of four steaks had to be sent back.....undercooked and overcooked. The time this took was way too long. Rolls were undercooked. From the time we walked in, service was poor....when our table was ready we went to hostess stand, we had to stand and wait. Usually, we enjoy this resturant. Not so much tonight. Noticed that 4 other tables sent back their steaks....not cooked right. Until management improves service and cooks, I recommend trying another steakhouse. read more

This is a very large chain restaurant, texas\southern themed. Reminds me of a 3-4x size Outback steakhouse but designed with a Texas theme. Ate on a business dinner, got a couple of really good apps (rattlesnake bites, ribs) followed by dinner, two excellent steaks and a good cut of prime rib. For a chain restaurant, I thought the steaks were great (I got the Ft.Worth Ribeye, btw), in fact all of the food including the huge honey-cinnamon buts, was really good. This review is about the takeout service only. I placed a takeout order that was to be ready at 7:55. I showed up around 7:45 and let them know that I was a little early, but I was there. So I'm waiting around, finally at 8:05 I ask if it's ready. 5 more min pass and my food comes out. I ask if it's cold because it was likely siting back there for a while. They acted like I didn't tell anyone I was there. She did offer to cook a new one, but I had already been there almost a half hour and didn't feel like waiting (kinda the whole point of ordering take out is to not wait). Texas Roadhouse is a simple chain for family fun. I find myself in the Monaca, PA franchise often cause my dad loves the rolls. Service is good. Mostly staffed by area high schoolers, service is prompt, and each different time courteous. I never get appetizers since they are normally the size of regular dishes, but the price of each appetizer is very reasonable. The first visit, I chose a full slab of ribs, loaded baked potato (marshmallow & cinnamon butter) and baked beans. The ribs were meaty. I requested more BBQ sauce cause the meat seemed dry. My plate was less than $15. Second visit, I ordered from the combo section. I got the half slab of ribs and 1/4 chicken. The meat is just dry. I don't know what the deal is. I suggest getting the baked beans. It looks like it is mixed with meat. Very good! I stopped in for lunch and my company ordered chicken fingers. Ahhh, it seemed to be over-fried. There was more fried skin than meat. I ordered a Swiss burger medium rare. Meat cooked longer than this is over kill. Very tasty. I didn't care for the steak fries tasted like roadkill. Speaking of roadkill... My most recent visit, I highly recommend ordering the the dish "Roadkill". Strips of steak grilled with onions draped with pepper-jack cheese. Maybe I was just hungry but believe me, I savored every last medium rare slice of the tasty steak. The staff seems to know my dad, along with the change and before he dared ask, they left him with a to-go box of rolls and cinnamon butter. This has to be one of the worst restaurants we have ever visited - if I could give it zero stars, I would We received a gift card from our daughter for Christmas and decided to visit the Monaca PA location to use it. We arrived around 5:30 and there was a 40 minute wait, which we expected given the day and time. We were seated much faster than expected, and that's the last good thing that happened. We placed our order for filet and prime rib (2 easy dinners) and the waitress brought some rolls and soup. We never saw her again for 1/2 hour when she came to our table and said she was going to check on our meal. 1/2 hour later as we were just about ready to get up and leave, our food arrived, delivered by the manager who said he'd "take something off our bill" and rushed off, never even asking if everything looked ok. I ordered my filet medium-rare and it came burnt around all the edges and very overcooked. My husband ordered his prime rib medium well and it arrived very pink in the middle - enough that there were bloody spots. My potato was stone cold. We grabbed a stopped a waitress that was going by (not ours) and asked to see the manager as our food was not right. 10 minutes later, we stopped another waitress and again said there was a problem with our food and asked for the manager. Some more time passed and we got up to leave. My husband left money on the table for the beer he had ordered and the soup. Neither one of us touched our dinner entrees. As we were leaving the table, our waitress finally showed up and we said we were leaving, that our food was unacceptable and that we had left some money on the table. Still no manager... Until we got out the front door and a man (I assume the manager??) came running out with a pad of paper and a pen in his hand yelling "are you planning to skip out on your bill" and wanting to write down our license plate when we got in our car. At that point, my husband lost his temper and told him everything that was wrong with our experience and the manager kept saying "so you're going to leave and not tell anyone and not pay" At that time, I turned to him and said that we had told 3 different people there was a problem and what more did he expect. My husband said he had left money for what little we ate. The man backed down and walked over to some other people who were standing in the parking lot. Needless to say, we were unhappy and also embarrassed that he accused us in front of other people like we were some common criminals. This manager and employees should receive some training on how to better serve people when there is a problem in the kitchen. read more

I ate here on the 4th of July I got the porterhouse with green beans and baked potato. My daughter got the rib basket with fries. The ribs are baby back and were so tender the meat was falling off the bone. My porterhouse was medium - well just the way I like it. It was juicy and tender, and the green beans were great too they have bacon in them. The steak was so big I couldn't finish it all so I took the rest home along with my green beans and had enough for another meal. Our server was nice and provided us with quick service. I think the price is reasonable for the quality of food you get and the service. read more

My wife wanted to go to the roadhouse for her birthday. Knowing we had a party of 7 we called ahead since we could not join the waitlist (party over 6). We were quoted 45 min. We arrived in 15 min and checked in as the employee told us. As we became impatient after sitting on the bench in the waiting area for an hour we began to ask multiple times how much longer, we were told they were waiting for the table for us to clear. We waited another half hour and they had let a party of 11 proceed in front of us that did not check in and the entire party was not present. We were sitting in clear site of the hostess's the entire time with kids that were holding up fine for the first hour but began to cry because they were hungry and it was "taking forever." It was at this point I asked the hostess's what the problem was. I was then told they paged us 3 times. My wife checked in and was in direct view of the hostess's and since the entire room was nearly empty you would think they would ask what party we were waiting for, but no. We were then fed what was likely another lie that the phone number was incorrectly entered. I've never wrote a negative review, nor am the type of person to do so, but as I sit here shaking for how disgusted I am with this experience I'm writing this review so maybe someone else doesn't have to experience such poor service. read more

Was there 2 nights ago and I ordered the salmon, the first time they brought it out it was raw in the middle. The waitress took it back and got a new one.
