This is a frequent stop for my wife and myself. Always great service. Wait time that you get is usually not as long as you really will wait. Only two small complaints. This is always my dad's go to dinner meeting spot between Zanesville and Columbus. Pretty great food, great service, and if you arrive early enough not a bad wait. This location has gone from one of my favorites to a place where I have to worry if I'm going to have my wallet or phone when I leave. My daughter had her cell phone stolen while working here and I know other employees have had items and money come up missing recently. I doubt I will be returning for awhile so that my family doesn't have anything else stolen from them. The managers really need to get ahold of the theft problem and until they do I won't be returning. My daughters phone kept pinging on findmyiphone after it was taken for 5 hours and then started showing up around Newark. Obviously it was an employee and not a customer. The place is way to crowed & too loud. Unable to have a conversation with my family and friends. Even the waitress couldn't hear us to order. I try to come here a couple times a month. It is one of the more popular restaurants in Newark, so there's usually a wait, especially on the weekends. Definitely recommend calling ahead. I'm not sure what is going on here lately though. While the rolls are to die for (as always!) the rest has been pretty...meh. Steak either overcooked or undercooked. Fries have been cold more often than not. The mixed veggies are very crunchy, not soft and steamed. The wait for food to get to the table seems to be taking longer and longer each time. As usual, though, the service is far above average most of the other places around. I would caution anyone looking to drink alcoholic beverages there: They are clearly NOT a bar. The beer is fine, but if you order anything other than the house margarita the quality is pretty bad. Especially the Long Island Iced Tea - whether the house special or the top shelf. Seriously, the LIT is the MOST common drink to make, but they just can't seem to get it right. Way too much sour, way too much Coke. It just takes nasty. It seems to be limited so far to one bartender in particular - a blonde girl, I think her name is Haley. She can't make a drink to save her life so I hope she's not behind the bar full-time. Great steakhouse. Never had any issues with any meal I have had. The ribeye is always cooked to my liking & the mushrooms n onions give it just the right flavor. I never even use any steak sauce. My family and I decided to go to Texas Roadhouse in Newark, ohio for a nice dinner out. we were fine with waiting the 40 minutes for a table since we didn't make a reservation. once seated our waitress took out drink order rather quickly. the waitress brought our drinks and some rolls while we looked over the menu. The rolls had no butter and we were not given utensils so we asked for both. The waitress came back to get our order and forgot the butter and utensils. She took our orders then promised to bring utensils and butter for our now cold rolls. After 45 minutes she brought our food.. No butter and no utensils. we again asked for silverware. she came back and said they were out because there were none clean but would bring them when available. 25 minutes later (Steaks now cold) we asked another waitress for utensils. she brought 3 sets for the 5 of us and said that's all they had clean. when our waitress came back (no butter or utensil) I told her my prime rib was red and bloody and it was supposed to be medium. she argued with me and sent her manager over. The manager told me I was wrong and that medium prim rib should be red and bloody but that if I insisted she would put it on the grill. I told her it had been sitting cold for almost 40 minutes and wanted a fresh warm piece of prime rib to which she told me they were all out while she laughed in a high pitch voice as if it was funny. I was so annoyed I asked for another manager to which she told me she was THE manager on duty. I ended up with a cold rubbery piece of prime rib, cold sides and a table full of unhappy guests!!! We always do call ahead seating. Tonight was no different, so our actual wait was non existent. Once we were seated, the young lady came and took our drink order. It came back quickly and considering we had a couple drinks from the bar, I was impressed. We placed our order and all 3 of us ordered a salad to go with our meal. It took a LONG time to get them. As soon as I'd poured my dressing on it, the food came. I mean LITERALLY had not taken a bite of it. When they sat the food down, I just handed the salad back. I wanted to eat my food while it was still hot. Not a huge deal even though I love their salad. My wife cut her steak and it was almost raw. (It was ordered medium) We sent it back. Over 20 minutes later it finally came back. All they did was sear it. The top of the steak was almost burnt while the inside was still raw. The manger took the steak off the bill. I don't want a free meal, I just want food that's edible and I have ZERO issues paying. This is the 3rd time in a row that we've had either bad food, bad service or both. Being raised in Newark, I came to this place often! Still do sometimes when I'm in town with my family. I really have no complaints as far as the service or the food quality. I'm giving 5 stars because for a Texas Roadhouse, it's the best I've yet to see. The ribs are incredibly good! I had the salmon once and it was "okay." Kind've small for the price you're paying so I'll opt in for steak or ribs instead. They recently built on to the indoor waiting room at this location, which was much needed....as it seems ALL of Newark tries to cram inside this place all at once sometimes. I guess it must be the price point. I cannot make a steak dinner for the cost of one here! But for the real steak critics, you get what you pay for... a value meal is fair. I am only able to leave a review in regards to lunch experiences. We are eating here between six and eight times and nearly every time we have eaten there my steaks have been cooked incorrectly. Luckily, after the third or fourth time I've learned that if I want my steak cooked medium rare, I order it rare and it comes out perfectly. This is also been true when I have ordered hamburgers, which are also very good. Order it rare, get it medium rare. Stay away from the fries. They are always very dry and like eating a silicone packet. Also, the lunch chicken seems to be very dry and overcooked, like they use the previous nights chicken and it's been reheated. I also ordered the ribs once and they had been reheated/overcooked as well. The bread is always amazing, their side salads and veggies are always very good as well. We usually get Beau as a waiter and he is the reason we ya ent given up spending lots of money here. He is always great!! read more

This is my first and last meal at a Texas Roadhouse. I order a medium well 12 oz prime rib, and the waitress says they are out of 12s and gives me a 16 oz. When I get my meat it is about a medium and I could tell that 65% of it was fat, one part of it had the consistancy and taste of peppered beef jerky and the other part was dry the whole way through. The waitress sees my face of disappointment and offers a replacement meat and brings me a completely well done rib eye. The rib eye is what I call "meaty chewing gum". I was unable to finish either of them so my intent is to feed the prime rib to the dog on the street and donate the rib eye to a homeless person. First time here in awhile, and it really has gone downhill! Dirty floors that had food, dressing containers, used utensils and napkins on them, left even after the worker came by with a broom and swept. We were seated in an area that used to be a porch, and the window frames and mini blinds were filthy with dust and food. The bus staff loudly and forcefully slam the dirty dishes into the containers and do not respect the customers eating around them. Tables are so close together (to accommodate way too many people for such a small place) that you are physically touching people in other tables while eating or walking to/from your designated table. So many employees standing around, yet the customer service was slow. The check-out stations in the middle of the aisles had as many as 5 employees hovered around them at one time, further causing congested aisles. I'm surprised the Health Dept hasn't shut them down! No ketchup in the table container, no silverware, napkins or plates initially provided to eat our appetizers or rolls. Food took a long time for delivery, and it was somewhat cold. In summary... way too crowded and congested, dirty, poor service, too many employees standing around! We will not be back until things change! read more
