It's not often I leave reviews, but the service was phenomenal today and made me feel like I should. The host was super welcoming and kind and had a smile on his face the whole time. Decided to give Ray Ray's another try last night with friends. Definitely enjoyed the addition of Granville Brewing! Gave the wings a try and will say those were surprisingly good. Would recommend. However, the main star was supposed to be the brisket. Very disappointed. Had the sandwich and while I realize it is a fatty meat, I'd say about 85% of my $18 sandwich was solid fat with little to no meat. Ray Ray's is a solid spot for Texas BBQ and I've enjoyed it many times at their food trucks so I was excited to try their Brick and Mortar in Granville! The statue of a pig at the entrance immediately signaled how serious they were about their meat. They had a spacious indoor seating area with lots of games you could play as well. I tried a sample platter so I could try a little bit of everything. Their brisket definitely sold the show. It was tender and seasoned well without being overly salty. Their pork ribs were also very tasty and the chicken had a nice jerk seasoning on it, with pickled onions for extra texture. The sausage was definitely on the more seasoned side and their burnt ends were a bit tough. The pickles that came with the BBQ helped provide freshness so I could enjoy more meat! I appreciated their assortment of BBQ sauces and there was a sauce for everyone, whether you like it spicy or sweet! As for sides, their Mac and cheese was creamy and hearty, and went well with the meat. Very disorganized. The kitchen crew had to come out and take the orders and that took forever. Took forever to get the food. They ran out of barbecue sauce and ketchup before we sat down, we let them know and by the time we were finished eating they still hadn't filled them up. Food was OK at best. I was a little bit disappointed with this experience. While the ambience and the staff were nice enough, the price and the food left something to be desired. I understand that brisket is the pricier cut of barbecue but $18 for a sandwich and one side seemed a bit steep although they do give you a good portion. The brisket, bean, tender and juicy was great, but it lacked any real flavor especially any smoky flavor. I was also disappointed with their barbecue sauces. It was basically candied apple juice. Way too sweet, no real bite or smokiness. I also tried their waffle fries, which were actually very good! To drink I got sweet tea. This was also disappointing as it was some bottled brand and not homemade. All in all for $27 after tax for a lunch "special" I was not overly pleased with the whole meal. My husband and I love good BBQ and Ray Rays didn't disappoint! Ordered their BBQ sandwich lunch special Pulled Pork, a side of Mac and got an additional side of fries....they season them in dill salt and OMG. The food and value for the money was incredible! I ate 1/4 of my food and took the rest to go for the 1.5 hour drive home. Spoke with the GM she was wonderful! I wanted to bring food home to my husband. She suggested the "Meat Sweats" sampler and it was a hit! Even after the long drive and being reheated everything was still so tender, not dry at all and not fatty all good meat. Loved their selection of sauces, the mustard and the Carolina were my favorite and the sriracha aioli for the fries as well. We will definitely be back next time we are in town. My family and I met up at Ray Ray's Meat + Three this afternoon. The atmosphere was really nice - quiet, aesthetically pleasing, and clean. The service was fantastic; you order at the counter and get your food before you sit down, but all of the employees we interacted with made it a memorable experience. The food was pretty good. The meats were all solid. I wasn't the biggest fan of the chicken, but I could eat the turkey every day. The cauliflower burnt ends were a surprising delight. I'd now like to exclusively eat my veggies as burnt ends, please. My husband raved about the collard greens and scotch egg. On a less positive note, the cornbread and mac and cheese left something to be desired. The cornbread had some kind of syrup drizzled over it liberally and I wasn't a fan. It tasted almost like butterscotch? Way too sweet. The mac and cheese was just meh. If you've had Ray Ray's, you know, partly, what to expect: great smoked meat, great sides, nothing fancy. Now add in sit-down dining, and a few more menu options, and, yum. I remember when Ray Ray had a sitdown restaurant before, in an old Bob Evans. The food was great; the weekend buffet was a BBQ lover's dream. But it was big, and no fun for him to run, so he scaled back. Now there are several truck/trailer locations, and this new place. Nothing fancy- sleek, simple wood and metal inside. There are a few tables outside, and a togo window alongside. Oh, and a pig in the parking lot. I got "whole hog" plus corn pudding, baked beans, and slaw. The meat was excellent, and I asked for sauce on the side, which it didn't even need but made a nice change occasionally. The corn pudding is even better than their regular, and they drizzle syrup on top. The baked beans are packed with brisket and great. The slaw is good. I also got a Scotch egg for later- a healthy snack of sausage and egg, with barbecue sauce on top. It was all great. Oh, and perfectly sweet tea. Baby K... was less enthusiastic. There's only one kid's meal: chicken tenders, mac, and Jello. She's not a meat-eater (Sweetie and I had them later, they're good.) The mac has paprika or something in it, making it more interesting for adults but not great for picky kids. The Jello was fine. Kid's drinks are limited; the lemonade is good but tart, so go with Cheerwine. It's a lot of food, good food. We'll be back, to try other menu items. I love BBQ. I have had BBQ just about everywhere in this country. Brisket in Texas, Pork in NC, Ribs in Kansas City and Memphis - If i have been there, I have searched out and tried the BBQ. I tried 3 things at Rays: 1. Sausage link. It was ok. Not great, not bad, just ok. 2. Carolina Chopped Pork Sandwich. One of the best I have ever had. I like to make my own Pork and am very picky about pork being too dry, not enough sauce etc. This sandwich ruled. Definitely one of the best I have ever had outside of NC. 3. Brisket Sandwich. I have been to a lot of BBQ places are good but usually they suck when it comes to brisket. The best brisket I ever had was this place up north of Dallas, I think it was in Frisco. That place had a line out the door and the brisket was unbelievable. Rays Brisket is the best I have had since I was at that place in Frisco. Not dry at all, flavorful and the perfect balance of fat and meat. For me, when I want good BBQ I like pork and brisket. Rays excels at both. I did not eat sides just meats. Ordered the pulled pork, beef brisket, and whole hog. My favorite was definitely the beef brisket. I thought all the meats were very good. But with all of them I would prefer the barbecue sauce that was with the brisket. I tried almost all the sides here. My favorites were the baked beans and ham, cornbread, and Mac n cheese. I've never had a scotch egg before so this was my first time trying it. I liked it okay. If you haven't had it, the sausage around it is a bit spicy! I wasn't a fan of the mashed potatoes. Collards were a little boring though. BBQ: Jerk chicken was still juicy and had good flavor without being too spicy. Pulled pork was the most unremarkable thing in the platter and it was still very good. Brisket was fork tender, perfectly rendered and Delicious. I've been wanting to try this place for a couple months and finally did. All of the locals raved about it so I was excited to try it. When I arrived the restaurant was empty other than the family of 3 that was ordering in front of me. I ordered the brisket and sat at a table. I noticed after sitting down that the table had not been properly cleaned as there were crumbs on some areas of the table. My order came out within 5 minutes which was pretty quick. I asked about BBQ sauce because I did not see any sitting around anywhere. The young unenthusiastic employee said that he would have to fill some up and put them back out. I waited for at least 10 minutes for this kid to come out with the sauces. My food was now cold! When I went to the sauce station I spoke with the man from the family of 3 as he had also been waiting on the sauces. I mentioned to him that it was nice to have sauce now to put on my cold $17 brisket. I asked if this place was always this bad to which he told me that it's usually not and that it's actually one of their favorite places to eat, especially the brisket. SO.... I will assume that they were having an off day which was a terrible first time experience. The BBQ sauces were just okay and the brisket didn't really have much smokey flavor at all. Brisket is overpriced for the portion and quality that I received. This place wasn't any better than City Barbecue and maybe not even as good! I am an advocate for Texas BBQ and have been all around Texas for BBQ. I heard so many good reviews about this place. Maybe I went at the wrong time, but you never assume all fat is what the customer wants. It was really salty when we did have some meat. I literally had about 3/4 fat go to waste on my $32 pound I spent. If I hadn't left the place with my order I would have went back for sure. This is a supper club rating and like the young lady that rated the same dinner as we attended the same night I would agree with most of what she said, my extra star from 3 to 4 is simply due to effort and execution. This idea is fantastic and I'm excited because I live 15 min away and will attend many more of these events. We had reservations for two at 7p. They had the dinning room playing French music and the obvious theme was French wine with French inspired dishes. 7 courses w/ seven wines. We started on time and the dinning room was pretty full, we sat at a large table with others, the conversation was great, lots of foodies sharing favorite restaurants, cooking ideas and more. The chef would give a brief description before every course and another gentleman would explain the wine and the "why" they chose it. I would say out of 7 that 2 are great, 1 good and the others ok. Overall tho the experience was so fun, it is something different and as they fine tune it I think they are on to something BIG. read more

I want to start by saying that Ray Ray's is my favorite BBQ place in Columbus. I was very excited when I heard they were opening a restaurant in Granville. We went on a Saturday night at 6:00 and I was concerned it would be crowded. There was hardly anybody there which really surprised me. We got our favorite beef brisket. The brisket had a large amount of fat which really surprised me. It was very tender but did not have a much barbecue flavor as I am accustomed to having with their brisket. I was going to get corn pudding, but it was burnt on top! The mac and cheese looked soupy. I got the baked beans which had a lot of meat in it, yum, but also tasted like it was half sugar, yuck. The greens were good and also had a lot of meat in them. The German potato salad was different as there was no detectable onion in it and the vinegar/sugar ratio was too heavy on the vinegar. Husband and I stopped at Ray Ray's Hog Pit in Granville today for lunch. I had 1/2 lb of brisket (moist) and the hub had a hot link sandwich which he said was very good. I can honestly say it was the best brisket I've had in Ohio and I'd put my lunch up against any bbq joint in Austin, Texas. It was that smoked to perfection. Now let's talk about the waffle fries. I so desperately want to love Ray-Ray's because I love pretty much everything they are trying to do and we so need a decent barbecue place in the Granville-Newark area, but I gotta call it as I see it. If they're currently struggling because of some things they are doing, maybe a little truth bomb will help them right the ship and build a great business that will flourish here in the area for many years to come. First, the good. The food I think has a lot of great potential. I love that everything is pretty much locally sourced and the meat comes straight off of the owners' farm. Also, the portions are huge, usually enough for two meals, and all the sides I've tried so far have been amazing. Also, I think the meat itself is probably amazing, but more on that later. The environment is also pretty cool and welcoming. I love how they have fixed up the place. It is really clean and well-designed. The music might get a tad loud sometimes, though, but overall great ambience. The staff and service have always been top-notch, friendly, and very helpful, so absolutely no complaints there. Now, the bad. Like I said, I think the meat itself is probably great. The problem is, you can't really taste it. I think they try to do too much and get too fancy with their main entrees. Barbeque is about the meat and here there are just too many odd spices and flavors that distract from it. I've eaten here twice and both times left with this strange and unpleasant aftertaste that lasted for hours. This experience combined with the price points which are a bit high leave me reluctant to visit again, despite loving barbeque. My advice: dial it back on the spices and the frou-frou salts or whatever God-awful concoction that is you sprinkle on your meats. Let the meat and the smoke speak for themselves and you will probably have a lot more people willing to give it a second and third try. The name of the place (and cuisine) is "Meat and Three". Let the meat be the star and let the three provide the supporting chorus. No need to go overboard on the meat and try to make it more than it should be. I'm really hoping they get this right and knock it out of the park -- mainly because my apartment won't let me smoke my own meat (something about fire codes) and I NEED good barbeque. This rating and review may say otherwise but maybe there is something a little different at this establishment versus the food wagon that they have downtown Columbus. My wife and I came here while we were out taking pictures in various sunflower fields. Ray Ray's M+3 is exactly what an old-school bbq joint built in 2021 should be. If you're a fan of the trucks, the trek out to Granville will be worth it. The interior is really beautiful, but it doesn't feel brand new at all. It's a great mix of rustic finishes and clean lines. My only tiny bit of feedback is that the tables aren't quite centered between the booth benches, so some sides feel super spacious and others are tight. The food is everything I love about the trucks... but better. The brisket is definitely the best I've had in Ohio. All my friends loved their protein choices. My table especially adored the mac. My side choices were good (slaw, pickled veggies, and mashed potatoes), but I definitely had fomo for some of the ones I couldn't eat. I have a gluten allergy, and bbq spots are usually super easy for me to eat well. The menu here isn't marked, but the team figured out what I could eat and what I couldn't. I'm bummed that the baked beans and collard greens weren't gf -- those are so easy to make without gluten, so it feels a little like they went out of their way to make those unsafe for us gf-ers. =\ I'd also encourage the Ray Ray's team to add literally anything without sugar to their beverage menu. I wanted to be supportive and spend money on something to drink, but I ended up with tap water. We received a lot of meat on our respective sandwiches but they were VERY expensive. Such a shame. This could be a good place but the menu is so odd. Imagine most of the BBQ recipes you'd like to eat and this place adds odd spices and unappetizing additions to them. As a result, if your tastes just happen to match perfectly with the unusual tastes of the owner, you're in luck. If you're like the rest of us, you'll be turned away hungry. Want Pork? You better like it cooked with honey and mustard. Or else. Want turkey? You better like it cooked in mustard. (Yeah -- you heard that right -- MUSTARD flavor on TURKEY!) You want chicken? My husband and I finally checked this newly opened BBQ place out. We ordered a bunch of things to try. Beef brisket was a little dry but it was still good to eat with the bbq sauce. You can get three sides with the meat or you can just get the meat separately. The scotch egg was good and I liked the sauce a lot. The dry ribs were delicious and the staff recommended two different sauces to pair with it. The ribs were seasoned well and cooked perfectly. Hot honey glazed pork belly was not ready when we ordered the food. But by the time we were done with eating, the pork belly was ready as well. So we decided to order it separately. It was really good! The meat was so juicy and flavorful. I loved that layer of glaze. It was probably my favorite out of all the food we got.
