Tonight was the first night I have ever been to any Texas Roadhouse. Just so happens that the one I went to is the one newly opened by the mall. When we arrived there wasn't a wait (though, when there is a wait there's a call ahead system that helps you keep ahead in the queue). My fiance had a slight headache and wasn't sure about staying because there was some serious noise going on (from music and people)... but we ended up staying. We had decided to check it out after my mother told me that she and my step-dad had been there twice and loved it. My fiance and I felt much the same way... even with the noise. (Of course, I noticed there's also carryout available.) We had a baby onion blossom for an appetizer. It says it's enough for two... but I think those two have to be very hungry, because we only finished half. We both had the half order of ribs with two sides. I had a salad with french dressing and loaded steak fries, he had loaded steak fries and loaded mashed potatoes. True to their words the meat came easily off the bones... and everything arrives at the table in a timely manner and hot! Oh! There were also yummy tiny rolls and honey cinnamon butter to start our meal with. I think we'll definitely get food from there again... though, I think we'll get it to go. read more

Seat at booth was dirty when we arrived. We had to wait 10 minutes to get silverware after arriving. There were multiple flies around. Salmon was overcooked and did not have the butter sauce that it usually does. Server said they were out of it and brought something that was not the same. Server forgot to bring another drink and had to remind her. Server did not bring a spoon for the applesauce. Service was very slow. Server's bill cover was falling apart and in bad shape. They did comp half of the meal, but it was a terrible experience. Never had a problem at any other Texas Roadhouse location. read more

We had a tremendous experience this Sunday. Our waitress was named Elizabeth. She was extremely knowledgeable, very well informed about menu options, and very prompt in meeting all our needs. Texas Roadhouse has never failed me nation wide. Last night I had the pulled pork dinner and it was a lot of food. Great baked potato and BBQ sauce. Green beans on the other hand are horrible! Steaks, potatoes, salads were awesome as always. One of the best sirloins around, 30 minute wait, pretty normal. Great service as always. Only complaint tonight was the ribs were charred. I've heard several complaints about the ribs in the last 6 months or so. May want to reassess the cooking procedure on them. read more

The 3 of us arrived at texas roadhouse tonight and we were sat down and we had no silverware when we were sat down.....then 2 of the salads came and we still had no silverware....their was a bus boy at a table across from us busing tables we asked him if we could get some silverware and he said im little fucking busy right now.......so no big deal I got up and went to 2 different tables to get us three silverwares and when i returned to the table....he then chimed in with a smart ass comment and said its not like im trying to bus tables or anything....you talk about disrespectful I hope he looses his job his name is Jordan! I've never had a bad meal here. Steaks are always as promised and of course the fresh rolls with cinnamon butter are amazing. Side salad was generous and the baked sweet potato was HUGE. We go early because we don't like the crush of patrons later on, and we're in and out in an hour. Friendly servers (sometimes maybe a little too much so) and management checking to see if you are happy with everything. Definitely one of few places we return to in Springfield. read more

This is not a place where you want to go to get a quality steak, however the rest of the food is about average. Good place to take small children since it seems generally loud and you can throw peanut shells on the ground. It is busy at times, and the style is, well, Texan. But, the steak is great - I've been there a handful of times and always liked what I ordered. Despite the fact that most employees are very young, the service is very good and professional. Go here for the excellent food and service, you will like it. And, you will also get for free all the roasted peanuts you want. You can sit at their bar while waiting for a table. As far as I know, they have specials on Wednesday - maybe on other days as well. read more

Good bright open atmosphere which allows not only be able to easily listen to parents but to also tone them out with the interesting western regalia on the wall if needed. Foodwise, it's a standard run of the mill steakhouse with the similar selection of a longhorn or outback. My favorite things that differentiate Texas Roadhouse from the competition are the cinnamon butter rolls and the steaks ding displayed at the entrance. Never had a problem with waitstaff. Me and my boyfriend went to this place last night (06/24/17) after 9:00p.m. We ordered the same thing 2-12oz steaks well-done. 1 side looked normal we ate a piece turned it over and it was burnt. Showed the manager our food. He said they would cook a couple of steaks for us. We said are you kidding. Everyone knows you don't send back food. He should have comped our bill instead he charged us for 1 meal but both steaks were burnt. Don't go to this place after after 9:00p.m. The workers are trying to get out of there by 11:00 so they don't care what your food looks like they just want to get out of there. Don't Go! read more

We had a reservation but told when we arrived that they would not seat us unless we were all there and that sucked for not knowing. If you do not make a reservation then get here early or be prepared to wait. The place was dark and at first felt like they had something to hide or yay wanted it that way. There are peanuts all over the floor due to free nuts. The show off the many steaks they sell in the meat case. There country music played all over the restaurant and it was at the right level not to crowed out conversations. Their blossom onion was great and not spicy. The dinner rolls were buttery and warm. First time ever my son and his wife took me there for dinner and it was terrible... I mean terrible...the service was great the food was absolutely well to put it mildly unedible for me...the 8oz well their version of an 8oz strip was filled with grizzle and fat and never have I ordered or bought a 8oz steak and it is actually a larger steak cut in half...omg...and the rib's were dry and whatever that smoky flavor they use doesn't taste very good... I didn't complain because what's the use... I wouldn't eat anything else... they were busy and I just wanted to get out of there! My son and his wife patronize Texas Roadhouse often and they too were extremely disappointed... now they may return but I assure you that I won't return... You know that old saying first impressions are lasting well that's how I feel... I don't care that it was a holiday no business should let food be served that was so terrible! Port house came RARE 2 MED_RARE ordered medium. Onions and mushrooms had some much salt and coarse black pepper made my stomach upset. Now the sweet potato..again way to much cinnamon and sugar on it one would think it was dessert. I wont be back. Bottom line bad kitchen edict and lack of qualified help. This is by far the worst Texas Roadhouse I've ever been to. All of the others would have been in the 4 or 5 star category, but not this one. We used to go about once a week because I absolutely love the food, but the service at this one is terrible! We used to assume that it was because it was new, but we eventually had to give up on it. There were two particularly bad experiences that convinced us not to return. One time the waitress added $5 to her tip. Normally I wouldn't notice, but we always get the same thing so the bill is always the same, so it stood out to me on banking statement. When I called the manager he did agree to refund the $5 after locating the receipt and confirming the addition, and he did send us a $30 "Be our Guest" coupon. However, the next time we went to the restaurant she was still working there. I was shocked... hello, this gal already stole from us once... isn't that kind of a deal breaker? The other problem we ran into involved their call ahead seating. It was typically my husband, my 15 month old daughter, and me. The restaurant has some 2 person booths and some elevated seating, neither of which work with a highchair, yet the 16 year old hostesses would always try and seat us at one. The last time we went to the restaurant I actually noted when I called ahead that those tables wouldn't work for us. When we got there, they tried to sit us at one, and when I said it wouldn't work, they told us we'd have to go to the end of the wait list if we wanted a different table. No thanks. Anyway, they definitely have above average food (good bang for your buck), but it's very below average service. read more

Very disappointed in the declining quality of this restaurant. We used to LOVE coming here. After tonight, I doubt we will go back. We placed a call for call-ahead seating and set our arrival time at the current waiting time. We arrive just before our scheduled arrival time to be told it would be another 20 minutes. It was 30. The entire front entryway, lobby, waiting and hallway areas were completely filthy. My daughter and I used the ladies room. The floor was so slick and grease covered that I nearly fell. The toilet paper holders had been taken apart and the new tissue was just barely sitting on the hooks remaining on the wall. My door wouldn't shut or latch properly. There was no warm water. There was no soap and only one dryer worked. Once we were allowed to go to our table we noticed the extremely hot temperature in the dining are. Our waitress even complained about it. The seats on our booth were completely torn through. The menus were slick with grease like they hadn't been wiped down in a month. The wait staff was wonderful! And the food was actually served quickly, cooked perfectly and tasted wonderful. Sure wish management would put a little time and effort into the upkeep of the restaurant. read more

I went to Texas Roadhouse Tuesday and got a country fried sirloin and it was so tough I could hardly chew it! I told my waiter and he took my steak back brought us new glasses of soda apologized for the problem with my steak again and said he would bring back my steak as soon as it was done. The manager came over asked if everything was alright and I told her about my steak and she apologized and asked if it was being took care of I told her yes. A few minutes later my new steak arrived with new sides. It was delicious!! Our waiter came back and asked me if everything was alright now and I thanked him several times and then the manager came back to our table and checked on the situation. I told her much better very delicious and thanked her to. I told our waiter he didn't have to do that though and he said he did. That he wanted me to have what I was paying for!!!! To start off the steaks are pretty good not great but well worth the price. The sides were pretty mediocre canned veggies and okay mashed potatoes(not a big deal I came for steak if they are saving costs on sides to provide a better meat item fine by me). The service was good despite being very busy at the time. Free peanuts so definitely avoid if you have peanut allergies. Some other reviewers mentioned not getting their steak cooked to their specified temperature, well this isn't a five star restaurant and the "chef" back there probably makes just above minimum wage. My steak was slightly under cooked closer to rare than medium rare but I was okay with that. Had it been overdone I would sent it back no big deal. If I spend less then $20 on a steak I'm not expecting perfection. Now my biggest issue however was the accommodations for plus sized people. The table is fixed to the floor and there are only booths no tables and chairs. This didn't affect me but 2 of the people I have gone with could not fit into the booths and sitting at the bar or going somewhere else is the only option. Many of my friends and family in town will not go there due to booth size so I haven't been in a long time. If you serve plus size people food you need seating to fit plus sized people lol. Would have gotten 5 stars if my family and friends could come with me on Wednesday nights for the $10 11 Oz sirloin. read more

This is my second time here and the food is great. This time the waitress was unable to get to us in time but we did not wait long at all because the manager, Ira, was on top of things. I have worked in a restaurant for a long time and I have to say he did a phenomenal job at taking care of us although the restaurant was quite busy. I have been to the Texas Roadhouse in Springfield, Illinois on several occasions. I plan to discuss the highlights of my many visits to this establishment. Luciano Pavarotti has been quoted as saying " One of the nicest things about life, is the way we must regularly stop whatever we are doing and devote our attention to eating." They live up to this statement quite well. The establishment boasts several hand cut steaks as well as other popular favorites including poultry, seafood, ribs and several house dishes. The restaurant is located on the far west side of Springfield at 2540 W. Isles, Springfield,Illinois. It is encouraged to use their call ahead seating, as the establishment is very busy most days,and with good reason. Their hours are 11 Am to 10 PM, seven days a week, more than ample time to enjoy the generous portions and great service. The menu touts a good variety of steaks, including; Porterhouse T bone, Bone in rib-eye, Sirloin, with precooked serving sizes of 23 oz, 20 oz for both in bone steaks. The Sirloin is available in much smaller portions if need be. Their steaks are sure to please any true steak lover, with a variety of different toppings for each. My personal favorite is the Porterhouse T bone, with the Sirloin a very close second. If this is your choice as well, be prepared for a large portion, and one of the best steaks you have ever experienced. The steaks alone will make you look forward to future visits. The menu items aren't just reserved for bovine aficionados, with poultry, seafood and ribs being a close second with the patrons. Dishes such as Portobello Mushroom Chicken, Country Fried Chicken, barbecue ribs, (so tender they can be eaten with just a fork). Their seafood also is very delicious with grilled shrimp, catfish, and salmon being a popular choice. For those that would like to try smaller portions of these dishes, there are combination dishes available upon request. While the steaks are the main offering on the menu, I must say the Portobello Mushroom Chicken is absolutely delicious. A generous portion of grilled chicken breast, smothered in sauteed Portabello mushrooms, served in a savory sauce. The sauce, I'm told is a closely guarded proprietary secret, and is a perfect marriage to the mushrooms. The grilled shrimp is offered alone, but I found the Sirloin and Grilled Shrimp meal to be a very nice change from the normal. It's like having the best of both worlds. Simply delicious. Yet another reason for a return visit! Whatever your appetite desires, Texas Roadhouse has you covered, tastefully. I found the staff to be very courteous, professional, and welcoming. They always have a smile, willing to spend the extra time and effort to ensure not only a great dining experience, but to also have fun while visiting. The staff performs a choreographed line dance when certain songs are played, always a customer favorite. The servers are also very adept at catering to your every want or need, continuing smiling the whole time you are there. When the time comes to go, every person on the staff wishes you well, thanking you for your patronage, as you exit the building. The interior decorating and motif for the restaurant is Country/Western, with many sports related objects hanging or painted on the walls. Local high school sports teams proudly display their memorabilia, while several NASCAR and celebrity photos, models and memorabilia are also present. The staff encourages customers to dispose of the free peanut shells on the floor. It adds to the overall atmosphere of the restaurant, which I feel is definitely one of many high points of a well spent evening. I would highly recommend Texas Roadhouse, the staff , the food, and the atmosphere makes this a fun and delicious evening for a simple dinner for two, or a group gathering. It definitely is definitely a unique twist to the steakhouse theme, lending itself to the enjoyment of it's patrons. Bring an appetite for good food and fun, you will not be disappointed. read more

I don't often eat at TR, but usually when I do, it's more than adequate. Not this time. I took my daughter and her fiancee out and ordered my regular 8 oz sirloin with steak fries and steamed broccoli. Our trio ordered potato skins as an appetizer - WAY big mistake. TR uses a "sheet" of cheese similar to a slice of American cheese, only double-length, draped over three skins and then the plate is microwaved to melt the cheese. The cheese doesn't melt and isn't very appetizing. We spoke to the waitress and then to the floor manager who advised that shredded cheese is available upon request. It would have been nice to be told that up front, but I doubt if that option would have been better. You can't just "nuke" cheese and expect it to melt evenly. Next, our steaks came. I ordered mine medium, and it came to me rare. I didn't say anything for two reasons: I can live with a rare steak when I'm in the mood for it and I don't want the staff thinking we complain about our meals all the time (I'd rather they not spit in my food. I know that's a cliche reaction to food service, but I've seen it happen too many times to ignore the possibility). I also thought the broccoli was over-cooked (another sign of microwave re-heating) and the plate was light on steak fries. My daughter had similar issues with her meal, but she actually ordered her steak rare. The service was adequate, but our server didn't really have to work very hard for us. We basically knew what we were ordering before we sat down. As I said, I don't often eat at TR - I don't eat steak often and there are other restaurants that serve the foods I prefer - but this experience makes me wonder if I'll ever go there again. I'm disappointed in most "steakhouses" in Springfield, IL and this time isn't helping me change my perception at all. read more
