The sales contact Jane is incredibly responsive and worked many different quotes with me with ease. There was an issue with the critter guard install but they came back out immediately to fix it. My system has been working flawlessly. I definitely think this is the best solar install company in Austin. Definitely get connected with Jane she is the best!

We did our installation in 2022 and have seen our energy bills lower than ever before! (We have some shade on our roof so we didn't do the full roof, ~20 panels or so, but it worked out well.) They did the rebate work with the city so our out-of-pocket cost wasn't exorbitant at all. Our household also recently purchased a second electric vehicle so we contacted 512 Solar again, this time for a level 2 charger installation. Once again, 512 Solar was excellent at getting our quote together, suggesting two hardwired chargers that the city does rebates on, and actually getting the work done as well. We have to do the final step with submitting the rebate paperwork to the city, I believe, but that's small beans compared to all the work that JP and Huiyun did for us at the outset. Really happy we went with these folks and will continue to recommend their business!

I'm not a low maintenance customer, and Jameson (our account manager) was there for me every step of the way. The install looks great and is producing at the levels I was told to expect. A big thanks to Jameson and Fhilecya for getting me set up with a solar system that makes really happy. I purchased my solar system from Longhorn Solar in April 2022. Unfortunately, my experience after…read morethe installation has been very disappointing. In August 2023, I needed a new roof and paid over $13,000 to have Longhorn Solar remove and reinstall my 37 solar panels. The panels were supposed to be cleaned before being reinstalled, but they were not. They were also reinstalled with the dirty side facing my front porch, which was very noticeable. On top of that, I had to wait approximately four weeks after my roof was completed before the panels were put back on. In May 2025, a connection issue caused my entire system to stop producing power. Because my system uses a single inverter, when one issue occurred, none of the panels worked. It took nearly two months to get the problem resolved, leaving me without solar production during that time. Now, in May 2026, the system has stopped working again. It has been almost three weeks, and I still do not have an appointment scheduled for repairs. It feels like customer service and system maintenance are not a priority once the sale is complete. I purchased 37 panels with the expectation that they would offset approximately 80% of my electric usage. That has never happened. Even when the system is operating, I consistently have electric bills between $180 and $200 per month.

Everything was cleaned up and ready for me to set up. He had to cut some drywall to run the cable, but did it low behind my softener so it's not even visible. I highly recommend Grayzer for charger installs. They've been focused on them for a while, and it shows.

I had one good experience with these guys when then installed a tesla charger at my old house and…read moreat terrible experience with them with they installed a tesla charger at my new house. The first time they did it they installed a 240 volt outlet in my garage and I plugged a tesla mobile connector into that, worked well. The next time they did it at the new house, I thought they would do the same thing but apparently they stopped installing the mobile connectors. Now they only install the wall connector which is a large sci-fi looking thing that is permanently affixed to the wall. It's also more expensive than the mobile connector. None of this was made clear to me when we started the project with Grayzer. They came to my house, got about 90% done with the job then saw the equipment I had and said "sorry we don't do those anymore". They explained the situation to me but since I didn't have the equipment they wanted they couldn't finish. They did however insist on being fully paid for the job. Stupidly, I agreed to pay them and they left saying "call us when you have the wall connector". That was a mistake. Never fully pay for the work until the job is fully done! So I bought one and scheduled a time to finish at which point they said they would need to charge another trip fee to come back out. I explained that it wasn't made clear to me that I didn't have the right equipment until the job was almost complete but they didn't care. They were insistent that I give them another trip fee before they would come back. Frankly they were pretty rude about it too. Like really rude. Whoever I was emailing was belligerent and completely unprofessional. It was extremely frustrating. I tried to explain that as the professionals in this situation they should be the ones checking that all the equipment is ready to go before the job starts. At the time I didn't know the difference between a mobile connector and a wall connector. I didn't even know that tesla had multiple options for wall chargers. I had what I used the first time so I figured it would work. It's not that the trip fee was so much money but after having to drag this out over two visits, spend another $150 to upgrade to a wall connector, a trip fee on top of all that was a bit much. In my opinion, a reasonable company would just accept responsibility and waive the second trip fee. Or at least offer to split it. But not these guys. They dug their trench and they weren't coming out. It was childish and stupid and I'm embarrassed for them. And to boot, the people they sent out to finish up the job were jerks. One of them was yelling and cussing at somebody on their phone like a crazy person in my garage. Honestly, these guys are like school on a Sunday -- no class. I guess this is what happens when you get to be a popular company. Customer service and basic decency goes out the window because what do you care, you have plenty of business. Right? Yeah right.

We went the DIY route, measuring and installing 6 solar screens ourselves. Ours is a new home with…read morealuminum-framed windows. The back of our home faces west, so the afternoon sun in the summer can be brutal. We bought the wider framed screens with a cross brace, since our windows are rather large (35" x 70"). We chose 90% screens because of the western exposure. Ordering the screens was easy, particularly since all of the windows we wanted to screen are the same size. But our windows have narrow recessed edges so we weren't sure at first about installation. We didn't want to void the window warranty by using screws. So we sized the screens to match the protruding portion of the windows and purchased heavy-duty outdoor Velcro strips (1" x 4") to attach the screens. Our process was to attach the fuzzy side of the Velcro in the same location on the frame of each solar screen. This made them all interchangeable. Then we put the matching half of the Velcro in place on the screen. Lastly, we removed the backing, lined up the screens, and carefully put each screen in place, pressing firmly to secure. We chose to attach Velcro only on the sides of the screen frames, for ease of removal when we want the sun's heat and light in the winter. The frame color we chose closely matches the original window frames and house trim, and the black screen matches our screen porch, so the solar screens look very much like they belong. I recommend you be choosy when selecting frame and screen colors, as they can change the overall look of your home. Picking up your DIY screen order is an efficient process: when the screens are ready (ours took about a week), an email arrives with directions to a small industrial park, a code to enter the stowage space, and the location within of your screens. Once inside, there are doors to compartments that contain orders. This is how 24-hour pickup is made possible. My only gripe, a minor one, is that one of the 6 screens has an obviously darker area, perhaps a crease in the fabric. But, all in all, this was a great experience. We expect our west-facing rooms will be more comfortable this summer than the last one.
