Since they finally replied and took action, I'm upgrading to 3 stars. I would have removed my review entirely had they addressed it promptly rather than taking four years. ------------ ORIGINAL REVIEW: SUMMARY: Their website brags about their doing solar water heaters, but actually, they don't. DETAILS: Since their website advertises their solar water heater work, I wrote to ask about their availability. They replied that they don't do solar any more. I replied that they might want to remove that page from their website that says they do, then. They didn't respond, and over three months later that page is still on their site, advertising a service they don't actually provide, wasting potential customers' time. (It's one of the first pages in Google when you search for "austin solar water heater".) Advertising a service they don't actually offer any more, even after being informed that they're still advertising it? Not taking 5 minutes to fix the problem? Really bad attitude. read more

They wanted $1800 for labor to replace a heater they installed that failed within the manufacturers warranty. A new replacement of the same make and model from a highly rated competitor was only $300 more with a full 6 year parts and labor warranty. There are other options. read more

Had a water valve broke off while flushing tankless water heater. Called Texas Water Heaters and they were able to come on the same day and got the valves replaced in under an hour. They were also careful to use shoe covers indoors. I would highly recommend them for any plumbing repairs or water heater installation. read more

We just bought our house in Round Rock this summer. After getting settled, we could not believe how long it took for the hot water to get to our kitchen sink. All that water wasted waiting and waiting. Anyway, the good folks at Texas Water Heaters knew the perfect solution, a Grundfos Pump! A what? The fellas were in and out in no time, charged a fair rate and now, we have almost instant hot water not just in our kitchen but in all our faucets! They were knowledgeable and professional. To be fair, I did ask them to send out at least one senior person and they did! We had a very good experience. They also checked our hot water heater to see its condition and gave recommendations for when it's to be replaced (4 years from now). read more

I called these guys based on the positive reviews I saw here. I wanted to get rid of the POS Whirlpool that had been long overdue for replacement. They came out two days after we spoke, hauled the old one off, ran a new gas line and installed a new thankless water heater before the day was over. Stay away. These people are trying to take advantage of the current conditions in Texas. They claimed that the tankless water heater we have on our new home was no longer in production, even though I can find it from multiple suppliers online. Saying that the only thing available was from Rinnai's LUXURY SERIES. Then they tried to say we needed a unit that was 30% bigger than our current unit. I talked them down to a smaller unit after saying that it made no sense to go to a bigger water heater when the one we had worked fine. After basically being insulted by the lady on the phone, she sent the quote to me. It was over $3,200 for the water heater and install. I looked up the water heater online and found it for just over $1,100. So they are trying to say that the cost to install is over $2,000! That is absolutely insane! Huge fan of these guys!! We called them last Thursday when one of our tankless started spewing water. They got it on order and committed to be at our house by the next Wednesday, and they did not only a new install but fixed a leak in our surviving tankless. Aaron & Patrick did an amazing job and were so professional and easy to work with - they finished at 9:30pm so that shows their dedication. We plan to get on their annual service plan as their service is so great and we want to keep these tankless water heaters healthy. Because of 2021 "Snowvid," they are working 14-16 hour days, so be kind if you have to wait to get on their list, but they are worth the wait!!!! read more

Hard to believe there were no reviews for these guys as they appear to be the largest installers of tankless water heaters in the Austin area. They specialize in Rinnai heaters (like mine) and because of the shear volume, are able to get discounts that even builders can't get. At any rate, I had them come out to diagnose a loud rattling vibration in my tank - within 20 min of arriving, they had solved it. I had a lizard, a family of insects, and some other debris that had made it into the intake vent. After cleaning out, they did a system flush to remove any calcium deposits and were on their way. The system works great now and purrs like a kitten- highly recommended! read more

Texas water heaters was price gouging during the power grid failure Feb 2021 (charging double the cost) and they're up to it again. With this most recent polar vortex, I called them for repair of the tankless cold water valve (the cold water valve broke off so the tankless was pouring out water. I had to turn off the water at the water meter so I had no water). They said they'd get me in to repair but sent over install, not repair. Texas water heaters wanted $4800 to replace a water heater that costs around $1500 new. It takes about two hours to replace (longer if it's the first time installing). So basically they wanted $1500/hour to install a water heater. That's price gouging. In the meantime, I lost 24 hours waiting for the appointment that I could have been getting on the wait lists of REPUTABLE FAIR plumbers. The best part was getting a lecture on what I should have done to not lose my tankless. Awesome. I bought my water heater from you all. Woulda been nice if you had sent out those instructions before my water heater burst. read more

We are in the process if selling our home and replacing the water heater was part of our contract. Needless to say, I was rather reluctant since we have never had an issue with our hot water or water pressure. After calling around to a few different companies, I decided to go with Texas Water Heaters. Their prices were fair, where other companies seemed to overcharge. They gave me a quote over the phone, which larger, more commercially known companies refused to do as part of their more aggressive sales tactics. I wish I remembered their names, but the technicians were great. They explained their process, asked if I had any questions and were done in about an hour. My only complaint is that they mistakenly let my pup out of the house, which is more my fault than theirs. But they quickly found her and brought her back home. So if you have pets, maybe keep them in the garage or a kennel while they work. I will definitely be using this company for all my future plumbing needs once we are settled into our new home. read more

I had them install my tankless water heater. They have installed a lot of them and are very knowledgeable about them. Since my current water heater was leaking, they installed the next day and did not charge me extra. The guys that did the install were very professional and friendly. This is nice because it took almost an entire day. I needed to have a new AC outlet installed for the heater and they used their own subcontractor for that. He was very hard to reach and was about 4 days late. One last note about tankless water heaters - they recommend flushing them out once a year. Apparently water deposits can easily break them. They said they do this for $150 (ouch). You can do it yourself, but you need a submersible pump and it takes about an hour. I kind of wish they had told me that up front. Overall I was very happy with them and recommend them. read more

My water heater went out on Wednesday and Chris installed a new 40 gallon on Friday at a very competitive price. They even had to drop from a 50 to a 40 gallon unit when the larger water heater would not fit in the closet. The work was done professionally and Chris showed me how to flush the tank which should be done each year to prevent the build up of lime stone sediment. I would fully recommend this company if you need a water heater. Very pleased customer. read more

Outstanding service! My instant hot water heater was acting up and they diagnosed that it was not the heater but an exterior regulator. They were very knowledgeable, and upfront with pricing and timing. They called ahead so I didn't have to sit at home and wait all day. Since my gas had to be turned off for the work, they returned quickly to get the job done so Texas gas could turn it back on and I had my hot water back. Texas Water Heaters was my first bid and I thought they were high just based on what I thought a water heater install was worth. I was in no rush since the heater wasn't leaking so after 6 other bids from plumbing companies recommended on our neighborhood Facebook page I deduced that they were actually on the low end of the bids. That is until a representative named Lyn called my up on Saturday morning to see if I'd had a chance to check out the competition. I told him that I hadn't decided yet and we discussed the particulars of his bid which ended up including several items that the others charged extra for like pan with new drain to outside. He educated me on the different brands/quality of water heaters, told me a joke, and knocked $100 off of the price which I couldn't refuse. Honestly, he sold me with that follow-up call which none of the other companies even bothered. The tech Justin came out to do the install early instead of late in an hour and a half and only after he was complete informed me that the gas valve wouldn't shut off completely so he replaced it with a brand new valve and installed a drip leg on the gas pipe, all at no additional charge. Basically, the bid ended up being all-inclusive including tax so comparing bids was apples to oranges. Michelle with the front office was very efficient and made the entire transaction go smooth as silk. She even revised the bid to reflect the $100 discount and resent it by e-mail on Sunday morning so they could get on the install ASAP. I was very pleasantly surprised at the level of customer service I received, even after the entire transaction was complete. read more

I feel like this is the Tale of Two companies. Pre-sales were super helpful and knowledgeable. Techs got the job done (although a returning tech told me they messed up some stuff and weren't even at the company a few months later). I love the tankless but I cannot get them to resolve a code issue that I've been emailing and talking to their office people about for almost a year. Our gas line from the street is not as big as the city wants, Texas Water Heaters is aware of this and despite my many requests, they have yet to do the repair. If they ever resolve the issue, I will happily adjust this review. read more

While house sitting for a friend over the holiday I noticed that her hot water was not even warming up as it should be. I contacted said friend and she told me who to contact I tried several times but because no luck a few others stated that they could be out after the holiday. When I reached Texas Water Hester I was surprised not only to get someone on the phone but to have a worker show up with in the hour to even look at it was amazing. Well it wasn't just a quick fix but he didn't leave he stayed and had the tankless hot water heater working again and to top it off when it was time to pay he offered me the military discount without me even asking. It was a pleasure to have such wonderful staff to help, there team member to do the work and the respect they gave to a service member. If you value your plumbing, don't let these folks anywhere near it. They replaced our water heater with tankless unit, and in the process: - cut thru load-bearing wall studs (failed city inspection) - failed to rust coat exterior gas line (failed inspection) - failed to secure exterior gas line (failed inspection) - failed to properly insulate water lines (failed inspection) While I'm paying the hourly rate, they are calling into the office asking how to do things ! They may be 'nice' people but they are NOT master plumbers. Now I need to find a real plumber to fix the mess they left behind. Do not let them touch your plumbing! read more

Never use this company. We ordered a new water heater - initial estimate of $2000. They "found" more they had to do so we authorized an additional $1000. After they left, we had only a trickle of hot water to the bathtub in the master bedroom. Called them back and they said "it's right there on the invoice that this may happen. We can come back for an extra charge. Don't know when we can come". Terrible customer service. read more

I had a fantastic experience with Texas Water Heaters (in Austin) from start to finish for proactively replacing my tank water heater with a Rinnai RUR98iN tankless unit. First, just talking over the phone they were able to give me a firm quote for my attic-based installation, barring only any cost to fix pre-existing gas leaks -- no on-site visit or even photos of my current setup required. Apparently they do so many of these installs that they can usually just check your address on Google Earth to see where your gas meter is and where your attic water heater is (based on the roof vent location) to estimate how much pipe they'll need, etc. What they quoted sight unseen is what I paid. On installation day, Cody arrived on time, checked the current gas pipe size in the attic to determine whether a larger pipe would be required, and then before proceeding further sat down with me to explain how the process would go, start to finish, in case I had any questions. The whole process, including removing the current heater from the attic, took Cody and his colleague a total of 6 hours, including a small lunch break. Since I had already read the manual and become interested in tankless heaters in general, Cody spent time with me at various points explaining minutiae of how they worked, behaviors that I might encounter and how to address them, how to perform the required annual maintenance myself if I wanted to, and various other geek-out sorts of things. He was obviously very knowledgeable and very happy to discuss any aspect of the heater or the installation. And to top it all off, Cody was even able to install the water heater control panel right on the wall of my master bathroom where I wanted it. Sometimes if they can't run wiring to get the module where the customer would like (they're plumbers after all, not electricians), then they'll just install it near the heater and let the customer have it relocated if desired, but they took the time to make my perfect install happen, which I really appreciated since it means I can now easily change the water temperature and manage the recirculation schedule (e.g. disable it when we will be away to save energy) all from my bathroom rather than having to climb into the attic. At the end, they cleaned up everywhere they had been very neatly, once again asked if I had any final questions, and went on their way. It's too early to tell what I think of my new water heater, but I had a top notch experience with Texas Water Heaters for the installation! read more
