I have nothing bad to say about this gym. I began my jiu-jitsu journey with this gym and haven't regretted it since. All the instructors/staff and other students have been nothing but a pleasure to grow with. The instructors really take their time to get to know their students and just as important they take their time to ensure all students understand the technique. Some gyms don't have enough instructors or staff to ensure you're getting the basics and the techniques. At this gym there is always someone to help you understand what you're doing whether it be another student or an instructor. Shout outs to the great instructors that show up for us, and the higher level belts that are always great sparring partners! I've only attended classes instructed by Chris, Noah, Jake, and Junior but there is plenty of knowledge to go around in the gym. And a big plus for me is they're military friendly and there are plenty of other students that are veterans. read more

I was looking for a fun, yet useful class for a bachelorette party I was hosting and in the world of today - I wanted something everyone could take away some lessons with - guarding not just their heart - but both their mind & bodies. I looked at other self defense and Jiu Jitsu classes around the area and Chris @ Six Blades was the best package all around. They have both adult and children Jiu Jitsu with an emphasis on high quality instruction, clean facilities, and a mission to build a community of strong, confident, prepared individuals. With this mission in mind, I knew I wanted to inquiry about the event. I talked to Chris H., Black Belt Instructor and he was extremely professional, yet down to earth. He promised to cater a plan that would be best for my group fitness level and needs. I gave him a few ideas of what we were hoping to accomplish (which was a fun, professional, yet thorough class in which we could take learnings from) and he and Jason (another amazing instructor) did not disappoint. They both got COVID tested prior (negative , woo hoo) , our group did too. Chris and Jason came to our property on time on a weekend morning and we got down to business. We all wore masks for our safety, and they had no problems with that! Safety first and I love how they wanted to do anything to make us feel comfortable. In the span of 1.5 -2 hours- the class was more than just KICK-ass. The class was both informational in nature (which I realized was very needed for martial arts of this caliber) and also hands-on. We practiced scenarios and learned from a spectrum of "self-dense" (ask him why I quoted this!) exercises from learning self-awareness as women, understanding basics of how to choke, how to defend on the ground, how to get up and stay focused and balanced, kick, and more! The instructors were there to help guide us, showing us more in-depth if we were comfortable, and helping correct any form and answer any questions. Although one class does not begin to do Jiu JItsu justice, it gave us all an appreciation and respect for it and we took away some very lifelong lessons. I started my BJJ journey in Jan of this year with Six Blades in La Quinta. From day 1, all the coaches and practitioners have done such an amazing job in creating a fun and positive environment in pushing ourselves, both physically and mentally. I was looking to try something new and decided to give this studio a try. I was always curious about trying jiu jitsu to workout and feel like a bad ass. I also work at a homeless shelter so the self defense knowledge was also a huge factor on why I signed up. I was impressed and felt comfortable knowing that there are 2 women's only self defense classes. Once I signed up I started going twice a week. Unfortunately only about a month in I had to stop. I found out I was pregnant, which was the best news ever!!! But I was also a newbie so continuing the sport despite it being safe for pregnancy didn't feel like the right choice for me at the time. I really miss the classes and look forward to joining back up once I'm postpartum. I really enjoyed working with Coach Julie and Chris. I highly recommend this studio and jiu jitsu. Our 4 year old son has been enrolled here for the past two months & the experience has been nothing short of perfect! The highlight of this place is easily the staff & coaches. Not only are they well trained in their discipline but they appear to be quality people who genuinely care and enjoy the kids. The coaches are very good about identifying and relating the skills taught during each session to the child's home, school & personal lives. The studio is clean, comfortable, well kept and inviting. It certainly does not have that feeling of exclusion that I've come to expect in gyms & other similar environments. As a follow up to my original post I have been training at Ribeiro Jiu-Jitsu for nine months now. The experience has surpassed all my expectations. When I first came to the desert, I didn't expect there to be any quality martial arts training. When I found six blades, I ate my own words. Between the staff and the other students it feels like a family setting. From the first instruction to actual sparring, I didn't feel an ounce of pressure and I felt like everything was very well explained. I've had a little bit of training in the past, but Chris, Steve, and Jason were very attentive and very open to discussing concepts and movements I did not understand. Their understanding of the sport is equal to the highest level of competitors and I know that no matter what level I return out, I will always be both challenged and welcome as a member of the six glades family. Before starting this wonderful journey of Jiu Jitsu, I was between CrossFit and Jiu Jitsu. At first I was only checking out the academy, seeing what they had to offer. I stopped by this gym for the first time this morning, and got a private session of Jiu Jitsu training from Christopher Hargett. The gym facility is very impressive. It looks to be equal parts weight training gym, Jiu Jitsu gym, and perhaps physical training/massage therapy? It is a nice big, airy place. It's is clean and clearly well maintained. They even have some nice shirts and hoody's for sale, which I couldn't resist. Everyone there was very friendly, as I've come to expect Jiu Jitsu gyms. Just nice happy people. Training was very educational. Focused on some drills for movement, and some defensive techniques. Chris is a great instructor, with much to share. Open mat had about 6 of us, good attitudes, and a nice range of skills. Again, nice positive people. I highly recommend this gym, and will certainly be returning the next time I am in town. I was visiting from a gym in Orange County. This gym was awesome to train for a month. They are very accommodating and friendly. All different types of people came for different reason (health, fun, competition, etc.) I loved how family's would come and train all together.
