I'd even argue the best Asian food in the city. We moved here from Seattle a year and a half ago and couldn't find a good Thai restaurant... until today We got the vegetable dumplings (amazing!), the Tom Kah soup with tofu (perfection), pad Thai , pad broccoli and green curry. This place was SO good! We stumbled upon this place trying to find something open on a Monday night and figured we'd give it a try. I love Thai food and have been craving some good Thai food since I moved away from downtown. I got my favorite dish, Pad See Ew and it was delicious!! When I landed, St. Louis was hit with a winter storm - Thai 202 was open and made the visit into the snow and ice worth it. Great service and community driven. I really wanted to like this place. The reviews seemed promising. I love yellow curry, and it's my go to at Thai restaurants. I also love Pad Thai but I do not like fish sauce and most places won't make it without it so I withheld ordering that from here. I added some comments in the order, it's possible they didn't get them but I requested extra potatoes and less carrots. The description for the vegetables stated onions potato and carrot. When I got it, there were bell peppers in it as well. Needless to say most of it was onion and peppers and some carrots and very little potato. The sauce was more watery than I am used to and the flavor a bit watered down. The potatoes seemed to be either canned or boiled previously and old. We all know what new fresh boiled potatoes taste like and these totally tasted like canned and they were round so I'm assuming it was canned cause that's how they come. I definitely wanted just potato and carrot but I got neither that were worth the taste. The peppers weren't a good addition in my opinion. Go back to using fresh potatoes and don't skimp on it, it makes a huge difference!! The mango bubble tea was good. Not used to ice in it, the place I usually get it from omits the ice. Yes! This place is a definitely must try. We have been there a few times and from what I remember, we have always enjoyed our experience and the food! I love the small size and atmosphere. In front of the store, there is a display of food art, featuring the items on the menu. This is great and reminds me of the food art that we saw overseas, especially when traveling to Japan. Thai Basil has always been one of my favorite dishes and a classic to try. Thai 202 makes this dish really well! The curry is also really good! On one of our repeat trips, we tried the Pineapple Fried rice, Pad See Ew, Ginger Chicken and Veggie dumplings. The Ginger Chicken and the Veggie dumplings were our least favorite. The Ginger Chicken meat was a little dry, and the Dumplings had no flavor. The top items were Pineapple Fried Rice which was delicious, and the best Pad See Ew dishes we have had around St .Louis. First time trying Thai 202. I got the pineapple fried rice with tofu. It was really good, I added some of my own rooster sauce and it made it even better. It has the perfect amount of pineapple, raisins, cashews, and eggs. It would have been to have more of a variety of veggies in it, but otherwise, I would definitely get it again. read more

We found this little Thai restaurant while we were exploring the area near Euclid ave. We ordered pad Thai, pineapple fried rice and red curry. The food was good, but definitely adapted to the local taste so I felt it was not so authentic. The pad Thai dish is a bit sweet and also saucey. The noodles were covered with the sauce and was quite chewy. The pineapple rice is more on the salty side, and the pineapple is sweet, so kind of balance out the flavors and tasted great. The curry is okay, with thick sauce and curry flavors. Overall I would think it as a good spot to go if you want some Thai food. read more

My favorite Thai takeout place in STL! The prices are great, the portions are large, and the food is tasty. Orders are cooked quickly. The only downsides are that nearby street parking can be difficult to find and the quality can be inconsistent. It's a small store, so I wouldn't come here with a large party. I usually get the pad thai, and it's usually delicious! However sometimes the sauce is too sweet or there's not enough sauce, and the noodles are a bit too broken up for my liking. When I'm more in the mood for flat noodles, I get the pad see ew or pad kee mao. If you're in a rice mood, the pineapple fried rice and pad basil chicken are also both good choices! read more

The curry was quite spicy for a massaman which is normally a bit more mild. The food is ok, and the place is pretty small. All of the food comes out relatively quickly and in take out containers so it's pretty easy to grab and go when in a rush. I ordered the pad thai and it came out with a lot of excess sauce that just pools at the bottom. One good thing about the pad thai is that the place gives you plenty of shrimp. I think the food is better taken home only because at one point the place got really smokey from a dish they started cooking. It features an extensive menu that covers just about anything that you would like to eat from vegetarian to vegan. They have a large selection of currys and noodle dishes as well. I've been here on several occasions in every time I've gone the food was very consistent and flavorful. The service is always quick with a walk up style counter. They also have food available for takeout of course. My favorite dishes are the pad Thai, pineapple fried rice and tofu cashew. I came here with a friend to satisfy my craving for pad thai. The portion size was big enough for two meals or for two people to share, but I ate it all at once because that's how hungry I was for pad thai. It was good. No stand-out flavors, necessarily, so the flavor profile stayed the exact same the whole way through. I've had my fair share of pad thai and I have a preference for a slightly sweet flavor, but this restaurant serves their pad thai more on a tangy side. For my drink I odered a Thai iced tea. It was so sweet--sickeningly sweet. I had to add water to it to make it more palatable. Even so, Thai iced tea offsets the saltiness of a lot of Thai food, and can complement any dish. Being too sweet is better than being too watery, I suppose. Just dilute it if you need to. I did try a bit of my friend's Panang curry and that had a very nice kick to it! I would come back here, but I would order a less "safe" option to see what unique flavors this restaurant has to offer. This venue is quite small, so I would only recommend it for a quick, casual bite to eat, not for large groups. The poor guy at the register seemed so overworked, but we got our food and drinks quite fast! My husband and I finally decided to try out Thai 202 after passing by it frequently and seeing the yummy-looking dishes in the window that caught my eye. We went tonight on a Friday night and were relieved that there wasn't a long wait for the food or for a table. I ordered beef pad thai and my husband got the red curry rice dish. I like that Thai 202 is a cafe-style restaurant and after ordering at the front counter, we got our own cups for water, our own utensils, napkins, etc before sitting down. It's a great place to people-watch and our food arrived within 10 minutes in fancy boat plates. My pad thai was delicious and tangy, although the sauce was a little too "sweet and sour" for me; I'm used to a more authentic taste. The beef, though, was really tough and chewy...I was sad that I was unable to find a single piece of beef that was tender. Still, I enjoyed the noodles a lot. My husband's red curry was spicy with lots of fresh red peppers, green beans, and chicken. My tongue was still burning 5 minutes later after drinking a whole glass of water and eating my pad thai in an effort to diffuse the spiciness on my tastebuds. If you like spice, you will love the red curry. It went well with the white rice that came with it and we had enough sauce left over to bring home afterwards (we plan to eat it with more rice tomorrow!). My wife and I came here last night while we explored CWE and wanted to grab a quick bite to eat. At first I noticed how small the place was and that there were not many people there eating at around 5pm, which I thought "oh no...this is not a good sign". But we decided to try the place out anyway. We ordered the fried spring rolls for an app and I had the cashew tofu and my wife had the chicken pad Thai; both with hot tea. I thought that the order would take awhile like most places but we received our order within 10 minutes which was amazing! Especially since I was so freaking hungry I was excited that we didn't have to wait very quick for our food. The spring rolls were served first and were nice and crispy on the outside but the inside was a little mushy, possibly because of the plum sauce and I was not exactly a fan of them. You could definitely taste the plum sauce in them but they did pair well with the sweet/sour sauce they gave us to dip them in. My cashew tofu (stir-fry) was very good and had a nice variety of peppers, onions, cashews, garlic, and tofu that was cooked well and absorbed the flavor of the sauce well. The white rice portion was perfect for the amount of food I was given too. The only downside was that the sauce in the dish was a little too salty for me. As a vegan, it is hard to eat dishes that do not have a lot of sodium all the time. But this is the only thing I did not really care for about my dish. The chicken pad Thai that my wife ordered was really good. I tried some of the noodles just to get a taste. The tamarind sauce was very overpowering though, so if you are not a huge fan of tamarind sauce then this would not be the pad Thai for you. They did give her a pretty hefty portion though and both our dishes were served in these cute white, little boats. I think this will be my go-to place for a quick and cheap Thai meal whenever I am in the CWE area. read more
