    5 Spice Thai Style

One evening, I was settling for a quick dinner and tried this place, as it was near where I was at that time. I really wasn't expecting much for a hole-in-a-wall, Thai restaurant. But boy, oh boy... was I in for an unexpected experience. I found myself in almost a trance-like state, in every single spoonful of panang curry I put in my mouth. I quickly realized, that it was not any other ordinary curry, but it was like curry that I tasted in Bangkok. As I spoke to the chef, I learned that, the curry I was consuming, was cooked by none other than - THE Head and Executive Chef of SIAM Intercontinental Hotel - before they came in the USA. As I probed a little deeper, I was right. The chef won FIRST place, in the BEST curry of... not Thailand, but the whole GLOBE, at one point. Yes, you read that right. The best curry in the whole world-at one point in time. It's like traveling in time and place, it's Bangkok all over again - in every bite. I wish I could put into words, the authenticity of the taste. All I can say is, it was one of THE BEST tasting panang curry, I've ever tasted in my life! It was Thailand all over again. I don't get paid to do this, but I think, this deserve my humble review. I gladly did this on my own volition. If you try it, maybe you'd like it too. I suggest you try it for yourself, before word go out, and the line of people starts coming here. I went to Bangkok Thailand years ago. I never tasted a panang curry THAT good before. I never thought that the best panang curry would be in Mill Creek! Update: A week after my first review: (2nd visit) Today was another Authentic Thai food experience. I just found out that this restaurant does catering. And so they prepared a mouth-watering multiple course dinner dishes. * 3 day-marinated,BBQ Chicken. (Gai-yang) * Banana leaf-wrapped Thai chicken * Beef Larb-Gai Salad * Authentic Thai Salad * Chicken Tom yum soup * Thai spices special sauces These sauces, I only tasted in the heart of Bangkok. I just couldn't compare it anywhere else. Sweet, salt, sour and special spices, all in one tasting! * 3 day-marinated,BBQ Chicken. (Gai-yang) This dish is so hard to find here in Washington. Because it takes days to capture a genuine Thai cuisine, in this dish. 5 stars * Banana leaf-wrapped Thai chicken This reminds me of what I used to eat every single week in the Philippines. I don't mind eating it every week. * Beef Larb-Gai Salad THIS is THE best tasting dish in it's kind, It's a perfect balance of sweet, sour, spice, salt - that I've only tasted in Bangkok. * Authentic Thai Salad- It feels healthy when I consumed it. Filling but doesn't slow me down. Taste is as genuine as it gets. * Thai spices special sauces - You probably won't find it anywhere else in Washington. I still can't believe it's all here in Mill Creek.

     the outside of the restaurant

Thai food is one of my favorites. When I moved to Mill Creek area, this is the first place I noticed. Nearby my house and easily accessible. Picked up food from here a few times already. Ambience of this place is so cool. Gives that authentic feel when you walk it. Small but spacious with a few number of tables. I wants to dine it here, haven't done that yet. Mostly ordered Thai curries - Panang & Yellow, Fried Rice, Pad Thai and entrees. Food was always good, a little oily though. But the flavors are so good that I keep going back for more orders. Noticed that Basil dominates their food, in a good way. Some won't like that excessive flavor of basil, but for me, I love it. And I must say, the service is exceptional. The owner is very friendly. She always take the order and customize the food however we like. I always request for extra hot sauces - try it, their in house sauce is really good, she always a few with the food. It's always packed well and never seen any spilling. Located in Seattle Hill road. Parking is never an issue at all. Food and Service - very good. Recommend it.

Massaman curry with pork and white rice

Chuck and Keke (spelling?) are warm, welcoming owners. With both owners coming from restaurant and hotel backgrounds, they serve food a notch above other Thai restaurants I've been to. My first dish here was the massaman curry. The broth/sauce was rich, thick, and great tasting with peanuts mixed in. Once I complimented on how much I loved their recipe for curry, we ended up chatting about Thai food and culture. I will definitely be coming back to this place.

Great food and great customer service! It was our first time to try this restaurant tonight. We brought the food home and it was perfect. Tasty and good size. We'll be back!

All great. Chiang Mai anoodles, Pad Thai, Beef Waterfall and Yellow Fried Rice.

This was such a wonderful experience! We ordered several dishes (Yellow fried rice, Chiang Mai noodles, Beef Waterfall, Pad Thai) and 2 dessert (Mango stick rice and Fried Banana) and everything was delicious. The service was quick and the couple I picked the food up from was incredibly friendly. The Fried Banana Dessert was far the shining star and best Fried Banana Dessert we've had to date. The value for everything was also great, especially compared to many of the other places in the area. Excited to have discovered our new regular Thai restaurant to get food from.

Having driven by this new restaurant a couple times since they opened up 3-weeks ago, I decided why not. By now they would have figured out any kinks. This is in the previous Chick-5 spaces in the Espalande shopping center. Plenty of parking in the parking lot. They are not doing dine in and only togo at this point. I was promptly greeted by the Owner and away i went to order (its a bit weird to me to have the menu on the TV screens and then a giant menu billboard right next to it...I was trying to compare to see what the difference was, but it was the same). Onto my order. 1) Phad thai (chicken) | this was very meh. Very sweet and came out slightly pink which I wonder is it from use of ketchup? This made me think of food court type of food. I would pass on this next time. 2) Phad see ewe (chicken) | this was pretty good. Made well and seasoned right. I would order this again. 3) Popular chicken | think orange chicken. I am torn on this. The fresh orange segments adds a nice refreshing touch, but it tended to be a bit saucy which made what should have been crispy chicken seem a bit soggy. Perhaps this tastes better in person. 4) Yellow curry (chicken) | this was pretty good. I was skeptical at first due to how "soupy" it seemed, but flavor wise it was good. 5) Beef waterfall salad | this was pretty good. Citrus marinated steak. Needs a touch bit more lime. Oddly there was no thai basil which i am use to having in the salad. Oddly this is the only menu item that does not have a price next to it. Reverse pricing the receipt it breaks down top approximately $12. It is conveniently close to home. Way closer to home than our usual place, Isarn. I will come back again to give some of the other items a try or if I was pinched on time. It is no Isarn or Bai Tong, but better than the alternatives.

Subpar Thai food with ketchupy taste and no other flavor. I ordered the chicken pad thai, the chicken was stale. Please avoid at all costs.

We started with the pumpkin tempura. It was crispy on the outside, with a naturally sweet pumpkin inside. It was really delicious. It came with a dipping sauce, though the portion felt quite small. The side of lettuce and a chunk of purple cabbage felt a bit odd presentation wise, but once we wrapped everything together and dipped it, it tasted great. For my main, I ordered the vegan herb tofu salad with medium spice. It was mostly fried tofu tossed in a herb dressing with mint, tamarind, and cilantro. The flavor was a mix of sweet, spicy, and tangy. It honestly reminded me a bit of pani puri. That said, the sweetness was a bit overpowering and made the dish slightly sticky. If they toned that down, it would be perfect. We also tried the vegan 17th curry fried rice, which was good. The curry flavor was subtle. My toddler absolutely loved it. Overall, I would recommend this place, especially for vegans. The food was good, with the only downside being that some dishes leaned a bit too sweet for my taste. The service was okay, not exceptional, but not bad either. I had visited this place about three years ago on a busy Friday night and had a pretty poor service experience, so I wanted to give it another shot on a weekday. The food has improved, and the service was decent this time around.

On a weekend lunchtime, the place was super empty. Servers were friendly and attentive too. For food, we ordered the Thai iced tea, papaya salad, the Lao sausage, Khao poon, and nam Khao. Thai iced tea was sweet, but I could very much taste the tea flavor, it was refreshing. The Lao style papaya salad is extremely fishy and shrimpy but super umami and tasty. The little baby crab legs are a fun surprise too haha. Lao sausage had a satisfyingly crunchy skin, and the sausage inside was flavorful. Khao poon big flavor and yum too. The pork rib pieces did smell a bit though which I wasn't a huge fan of, but didn't deter me that much. Nam Khao was definitely the standout dish for me. I love fried rice with ginger, so this really hit the spot. Add in the crunch of the charred bits of rice, the slight chew from the rice itself, and the umami from the fish sauce. Omg. Wrapping it in lettuce can get a bit messy but it's so good in lettuce too Overall wowow. Portions are really big too, so we had a ton of leftovers to bring home. And I'll be dreaming about the food here for awhile haha

Crab Delight: The rangoons came out a smidge oily and on the warm side, but the filling was *delightful*--cream cheese has that bit of sweetness. In terms of crab-to-cream-cheese ratio, I couldn't make out any meat. The wrapper is airy and crispy which made each bite satisfactory. The sweet chili they use is the runny kind--not a complaint, just an observation. Pad Thai: Has that bold sweet & sour flavor but not too much where it's kicking your throat when you inhale it. I went with a 4/5 spice and it was indeed spicy. Sai Ooua: Don't know how to pronounce that, but I do know this sausage was hearty. I wonder if I could ask them to not cut it because the skin had a nice snap. Thai Tea: Very pleasant. Since it was an hour after opening, service was prompt.
