While the staff I interacted with was super nice and friendly, the food is subpar. The price is good for mediocre Thai dishes. I ordered their pumpkin curry, chicken satay, and pad thai. These are the usual dishes I would order when trying out a new Thai restaurant to see how well they're cooked. Pumpkin curry was okay but definitely watered down. Chicken satay was good but a bit dry. Pad Thai was the worst version I've had...too sweet and too saucy. Unfortunately I don't think I would recommend or come back to this spot. read more

Delivery review In short: Don't hesitate over the punny name, like I did. Huge flavors, amazing spices, and if you mess with the spicy stars, they're legit. In long: For quite a while I assumed the silly name meant this was just some random chain or ghost kitchen. We've ordered from them a couple times this spring and the food is legit, and now I wonder why I was so quick to write them off. Spicy Gai Grob One of the better crispy fried chicken dishes around up here, and we have every kind of chicken imaginable, I think. Crunchy even through a generous pour of spicy, savory sauce. Lots of dark greens underneath. Steamed Vegetable Not much to yell about here--it's carrots, broc, cabbage, onions. But only $3.50, and plenty of it. You can easily turn a dish with no rice into a hearty portion by adding the veg. Spicy Basil Speaking of entrees with no rice, I appreciate the choices here. A couple bucks more for jasmine or brown, or you can just click No Rice and not have to worry about it. I ordered this with tofu at a full five stars. It had me coughing, sweating, and weeping. I love it so much. Flavors were great, kind of a dark caramelized mildly sweet sauce with tons of spicy notes. Crunchy veg. Very decorative carrot "flowers" in this and the Gai Grob. Marinate Grilled Beef Yes, it's slightly misspelled on the menu. I'm not commenting, just copying and pasting the name of the dish. This is basically When Tigers Cry with a little less fruity tang and a little less peppery heat. You can ratchet up the spice as much as you like, though--and get it back to the fiery level that usually comes with this dish under other names. Random bonus They ship food in sturdy plastic to-go bins instead of styrofoam clamshells or paper boxes. If you're an incurably cheap son of a gun like me, ya wash these and use 'em later when you send leftovers home with people. Big bonus These folks are consistently what seems like $5-per-entree cheaper than similar restaurants around here. One evening, I was settling for a quick dinner and tried this place, as it was near where I was at that time. I really wasn't expecting much for a hole-in-a-wall, Thai restaurant. But boy, oh boy... was I in for an unexpected experience. I found myself in almost a trance-like state, in every single spoonful of panang curry I put in my mouth. I quickly realized, that it was not any other ordinary curry, but it was like curry that I tasted in Bangkok. As I spoke to the chef, I learned that, the curry I was consuming, was cooked by none other than - THE Head and Executive Chef of SIAM Intercontinental Hotel - before they came in the USA. As I probed a little deeper, I was right. The chef won FIRST place, in the BEST curry of... not Thailand, but the whole GLOBE, at one point. Yes, you read that right. The best curry in the whole world-at one point in time. It's like traveling in time and place, it's Bangkok all over again - in every bite. Thai food is one of my favorites. When I moved to Mill Creek area, this is the first place I noticed. Nearby my house and easily accessible. Picked up food from here a few times already. Ambience of this place is so cool. Gives that authentic feel when you walk it. Small but spacious with a few number of tables. I wants to dine it here, haven't done that yet. Mostly ordered Thai curries - Panang & Yellow, Fried Rice, Pad Thai and entrees. Food was always good, a little oily though. But the flavors are so good that I keep going back for more orders. Noticed that Basil dominates their food, in a good way. Some won't like that excessive flavor of basil, but for me, I love it. And I must say, the service is exceptional. The owner is very friendly. She always take the order and customize the food however we like. I always request for extra hot sauces - try it, their in house sauce is really good, she always a few with the food. I feel bad writing this and giving one star because the following are all great: service, speed, presentation, and getting orders correct. I have ordered from here twice now and I just can't do it again. If you do not know what Thai food is supposed to taste like then you might be able to eat here no problem. The problem is the taste. It is pretty awful. I will eat some pretty average stuff no complaints but this is ... not good. I do like Noppakao although there is a place in Issaquah that really can't be beat for Phad Thai. The closest thing I can liken this to is if I tried to make Thai food from scratch in my kitchen myself. The spices, texture, etc all off. Tonight we ordered the garlic chicken fried rice and Phad Thai with chicken. The garlic chicken fried rice consistency and texture was off and the taste on both dishes was completely off. This was my experience last time too and I was hoping it had been an isolated incident. The reason we ordered from here tonight instead of Noppakao was because we wanted food fast and we wanted it delivered! This is close and it really was fast! We could not really enjoy it and really can't order again from here. It might be kind of like Thai fast food? It does seem fairly fresh, including fresh lime wedge, but the taste is very unappealing. Some may like it so if you're in a hurry and don't require authentic Thai spice you could still give it a try. It is in a great location and walking distance to many homes, condos, and apartments. We ordered several dishes (Yellow fried rice, Chiang Mai noodles, Beef Waterfall, Pad Thai) and 2 dessert (Mango stick rice and Fried Banana) and everything was delicious. The service was quick and the couple I picked the food up from was incredibly friendly. The Fried Banana Dessert was far the shining star and best Fried Banana Dessert we've had to date. Having driven by this new restaurant a couple times since they opened up 3-weeks ago, I decided why not. By now they would have figured out any kinks. This is in the previous Chick-5 spaces in the Espalande shopping center. Plenty of parking in the parking lot. They are not doing dine in and only togo at this point. I was promptly greeted by the Owner and away i went to order (its a bit weird to me to have the menu on the TV screens and then a giant menu billboard right next to it...I was trying to compare to see what the difference was, but it was the same). Onto my order. 1) Phad thai (chicken) | this was very meh. Very sweet and came out slightly pink which I wonder is it from use of ketchup? This made me think of food court type of food. I would pass on this next time. 2) Phad see ewe (chicken) | this was pretty good. Made well and seasoned right. I would order this again. 3) Popular chicken | think orange chicken. I am torn on this. The fresh orange segments adds a nice refreshing touch, but it tended to be a bit saucy which made what should have been crispy chicken seem a bit soggy. Perhaps this tastes better in person. 4) Yellow curry (chicken) | this was pretty good. I was skeptical at first due to how "soupy" it seemed, but flavor wise it was good. 5) Beef waterfall salad | this was pretty good. Citrus marinated steak. Needs a touch bit more lime. Oddly there was no thai basil which i am use to having in the salad. Oddly this is the only menu item that does not have a price next to it. Reverse pricing the receipt it breaks down top approximately $12. It is conveniently close to home. Way closer to home than our usual place, Isarn. I will come back again to give some of the other items a try or if I was pinched on time. It is no Isarn or Bai Tong, but better than the alternatives. read more

I made the mistake of ordering through yelp and didn't realize I had selected take out instead of delivery. I called and they directed me to chow now. Chow now told me to re-order and they will refund my original order. Yelp was having issues and delivery wasn't popping up as an option. I called thai 5 and explained. The owner took me by surprise when she told me her husband would deliver the food. This was an awesome gesture and will keep us going back in the future. We were looking to grab some thai food, and instead of trying the normal local offering we were used to, thought we would try Thai5 out! Really glad we did! We ordered our usual Thai takeout to compare apples to apples from other restaurants: Tom Ka Soup and Phad Ka Mao. We were really impressed by both of their dishes and considered them much better in both quality of ingredients and flavor than the usual offerings we are used to! Props to making the Phad Ka Mao differently and not overly soupy giving much richer flavors! Five stars, certainly would come again! Unlike other reviews we found the portions to be of appropriate size. My only feedback is that the "spice level" runs a little hotter than most, so if you are ordering for children that do not like spice, go for a 0 instead of a 1. read more

Thai 5 is a new Thai restaurant that opened a couple of weeks ago in Mill Creek. They take the space formerly occupied by Chick 5, next to Garlic Jim's. The owners are a husband and wife team, very personable and very pleasant to talk to. We had gone next door for a pizza when we noticed this restaurant. We decided to give them a try and ordered a Papaya Salad. The ingredients are: Shredded green papaya with fresh Thai chilies, garlic, dried shrimp, green beans, tomatoes, carrots, Thai spicy sauce and peanut butter. We have tried this dish at other restaurants, but this was best. The julienned green papaya was fresh, served with romaine lettuce leaves and tget other ingredients. The salad was topped with a carved carrot flower. Just awesome delicious. They have a very extensive menu that includes unique appetizers, soups, variety of fried rice, curries and basic entree's. They offer a signature Thai style Crab Omelette, and an Eggplant Pad Thai. This is primarily a Take Out restaurant with no seating due to Coronavirus restrictions. We've lived in Mill Creek for a number of years and have tried each of the (four) neighborhood Thai restaurants a number of times while here. All are good to varying degrees, but I must say that I was certainly happy to see this new option pop up so close by to home. We've tried Thai 5 three times now, and have been very pleased with all of the offerings we have tried. The two desserts we have sampled (Sticky Rice, Fried Bananas) were scrumptious and were a hit for the whole family. Highly recommended. :-) I went out on a limb and tried a couple of their unique menu items tonight - based upon Yelp reviews: the Thai 5 Fried Rice and the Chiang Mai Noodles. Both were simply delicious, although I'd have to pick the fried rice if forced to choose our favorite. (It was exceptional.) We've also tried the Pad See Ewe, Yellow Curry, and Panang Curry. You cannot go wrong with any of those. Portions are generous, presentation is exceptional - with clever garnishes using fresh vegetables, and the flavors are complex with just the right amount of "kick." I should mention that we've tried the Marinated Grilled Beef appetizer a couple of times as well (strips of flank steak served with a savory dipping sauce), and it too is very good. The beef was tender and just the right amount of rare, and the sauce complemented it perfectly. I'd highly recommend that you give this new restaurant a try if you have not already. read more

Fast Food Flavor with DMV Service. With this being a newer business in the area my wife and I decided to try the newer Thai place vs our normal spot a little further away. So we looked over the menu and ordered up a couple of our regular favorites. We ordered online and it said our order would be available for pickup in 15-20 min. Well 15 min later we received a message saying the order was ready for pickup. After arriving there was another 5-7 people inside waiting to make orders. I waited until the cashier was ready and went up to get my order. He stated the order was not ready and he hit the button for pickup on accident and I would need to come back in another 15-20 min. Since we don't live to far we decided to head home and drive back after 20 min. Well things only get worse, after arriving to pickup our order and the restaurant being empty I am once again told the order is not ready and I will have to wait a little longer. Now frustrated because they took care of everyone in the restaurant except my order I made 40 min prior to everyone else. Then once the food is ready I make sure the order is correct. Phad Thai check, Fish cakes check, Pineapple Chicken Curry check actually where is the rice? I am then told the curry doesn't come with rice and its an extra charge even though their website says EXTRA rice $2.50. What curry plate doesn't come with rice and even if it doesn't why wouldn't you offer it to me for the hassle I have already dealt with without saying a word. Leaving very irritated at least I now have my dinner and am excited to eat. Well wrong there too, the Fish cakes are microwaved and taste like rubber and the Phad Thai is just spicy with no flavor in the other ingredients. The only reason they are getting 2 stars vs 1 is because the Pineapple Chicken Curry was actually good even though I had to eat it like a soup. I ordered online, food was ready on time. I ordered 3 star for both dishes. Musaman Curry with Chicken was good, but closer to 1.5 stars. The Pad Ke Mao with beef was 5+ star. Not sure how the spice levels can get so far off! There was something else off putting about the beef. Wouldn't order that again.
