pad kee mao and chicken larb salad
Eugene C.

Great spot for Thai food. We got the pad kee mao and chicken larb salad, medium spice. Nice amount of kick and super flavorful, not bland at all. Gave us extra dry spices just in case but we didn't need it. Lots of other options on the menu as well. Just a heads up, it's take-out only from 4-8pm. Owner is a super cute and friendly dude. Be nice to him and he'll be nice to you (we got a complimentary piece of watermelon and extra rice without asking because they had extra at the time; not guaranteed though). Quick service and free street parking in front of restaurant too. Across the street for la michoacana ice cream if you're looking for dessert.

Finally, A New Updated Menu January 2021 Thai Aree House is one of my Absolute Favorite Thai Restaurants in Old Irving Park Neighborhood. It has been around for about 30+ years & still going strong! Eddie & Ann are an Amazing Team. No matter how busy the restaurant is the food still taste the same! The Quality & Quantity is why i come back. Everything just taste so Delicous! My personal favorites are the Mixed Satay (love there peanut sauce), Fresh Garlic Beef (love the fresh slices of garlic on top), Tom Kha Vegetable Soup (coconut broth is very light but flavorful & love that the vegetables are crunchy. Please be patient with this restaurant. They do get very busy but everything is made to order. HIghly Recommend to try it!!!

Pad Thai w chicken!

I love this restaurant! I don't treat myself often when it comes to take-out orders; but when I do, this restaurant is always my top choice. The owner ALWAYS gives the best customer service, the food is very flavorful and reasonably priced, and there are many options to select from. Hope they stay open for a long time!

One of my go to (or order from) places for Thai food. The curry options are on spot and their food hasn't been a disappointment so far.

This place is amazing and so tasty! They can easily make certain dishes vegetarian, vegan, gluten free, or fish sauce free.

Some of the best Thai food in the city. Rather modest on the inside but excellent food. Never a disappointment.

Is this byob?

Yes

Do they have a reward application here, like Say2B or similar?

No. But the more you come here the more you are rewarded with great food and service. This counts too!

Do they make citrus chicken with the lime sauce?

Not sure, but everything that they make is good. So if they made citrus chicken with lime juice, it will be the best dam citrus chicken this side of the Mississippi!!!

Instantly one of my new favorite restaurants in Chicago. And probably one of my favorite Thai…read morerestaurants of all time. As a street food spot that's popular for lunch, you get different offerings here than a lot of your other neighborhood Thai joints. Sat on the outdoor patio so didn't get to see the inside much but I liked our atmosphere and service. Split the papaya salad and the Laab Moo Krob (crispy pork belly salad) with a friend and both were outstanding. From the first crispy bite of the pork belly I was in love with the texture and flavors. We added a side of sticky rice with that which was perfect. I wish I could've tried everything on the menu that day but looks like I'll just have to return as soon as possible.

I advise straying away from the noodle classics like Pad Thai or Pad See Ew and opt for a soup, chicken, or rice plates! Pretty small inside so you may have a bit of a wait but overall really quick service. Chicken with ginger rice (R4): Poached chicken served over ginger-garlic rice with soybean ginger sauce on the side. I found a hotel deal in the area and Thai Spoon caught my attention with their window menu and…read morereasonable price range and their cute decor. I came back the next day for a late lunch . I think I was the only customer in the restaurant at the time. The server was really nice and kept my water filled when I was thirsty from walking around all day. I was happy to see khao soi on the menu. I had been mixing it up with khao poun which is a different dish and doesn't have fried noodles. I like both. I was hungry and tucked in to soft noodles, crispy noodles, pickled mustard greens, onions, and in this case tofu. The server noticed my enthusiasm and said it would make him happy. I hope so, this was a lovely meal and a standout among all the chains and custom-bowl places. Would definitely return.

It's a few dollars less than the normal menu but a pretty good deal. My daughter and I ordered the pad see ew lunch, a regular Kara age chicken appetizer, and a taro boba. They also gave us a miso soup and two veggie egg rolls, unsure if that's part of the lunch special or not or standard for all done in customers, but it was a great addition! The food was delicious and made SUPER fast. I'd say we only waited about 5-7 minutes for everything. There is a lot of seating inside and the decor is really cool. The staff is really nice too!
