    Salmon roll

The food was decent and light. Presented nicely too. I think the tempura in the sushi could have been fresher. I loved the pickles. I thought the server was a bit slow at recognizing us when we needed refills. Over all, a nice quiet place for a small date with a lot of natural light.

Warm and cozy restaurant. Nice atmosphere with the many full size windows. Comfortable seating too. Food was absolutely delicious from the appetizers, Thai ice coffee, main course Thai specialty dishes to sushi rolls! Food can be cooked according to you're spice level preference! Amazing! See pictures. Service was fabulous, friendly and quick. Dishes were prepared hot and timely. Dine in, carry out and delivery services. Yumm! Metered street parking.

It's my neighbor restaurant. I ordered just 3 rolls 2 times but they took so long to make the order, it took 30-40 minutes. They are gonna make you wait so long in any circumstances. Even when they are not too busy. So they deserve 2.5 star so far.

Stopped by here for dinner with my sister before our concert started at the Copernicus center. The location is great and walking distance. The service was great, cozy ambiance with comfy booth like chairs and string lights on the windows. We tried the chicken satay and I loved the peanut sauce (my sister is allergic, so it's nice that it's on the side). She ordered the basil noodles (forgot to take a photo) and I of course ordered the pad se eiw. They ask if you are gluten free which was appreciated and they can make it for you. This was one of my top three pad see yu's that I have tried and I have had a lot of pad see yus in my life. So delicious, perfect choice to stop by here on our last night in Chicago for our girl's trip.

Ruk Veggies roll and Portage Park roll

I've passed this place so many times and finally tried it for the first time, very glad I did! We went in around 6:30 on a Friday evening and it wasn't very busy, it was a lot smaller than I realized! The vibe was cozy with the twinkle lights shining through the windows. The server who greeted us gave us the option to sit where ever we wanted and he ended up being our server. He was very kind and attentive throughout the dinner, even as things started to pick up around 7:30. I noticed that all of the employees seemed to get along really well which We had a couple appetizers and sushi rolls. The shrimp shumai were cooked perfectly, like chewy little clouds. My favorite maki roll that was the Ruk Veggies; Everything tasted so fresh! This place is a great little sushi/thai spot. It's BYOB so once I'm not pregnant anymore I will be coming back with a nice bottle of wine and going crazy on some maki rolls & Pad Thai.

Chicken Pad Thai Lunch Special. Came with veggie egg rolls and soup.

I am shooketh. Their pad thai lunch special is under $10 and came with so. Much! I ordered the lunch chicken pad thai, which came with 2 crispy little veggie spring rolls, miso soup, and some dipping sauce. The pad thai is great, I got it at medium spicy level and think it's perfect for my preference. I'm aware of the heat but it adds to the flavor without being too much or burning imo. I did order an extra little side cup of peanut sauce which cost $1.50. It was tasty and I'd definitely order it again to go with my pad thai. Next time I think I'll try some of the sushi, but I would order this pad thai again it was great!

Portage, Summer and Shiro makis! Delicious!!
    DOROTHY M.

Just went there again on 04/22/2022 and the food and service was great. They were a lot of people who were eating out which was great especially still during this pandemic. We ordered Portage maki, summer maki and the Shiro maki. Also had the basil fried rice, we ordered it medium and it was too spicy for us and we love spicy --so I just combined the white rice with it and it turned out great. And lastly, we also had pad cashew with beef, delicious! We have gone to Ruk at Devon Ave and frankly, we like the Ruk located in Milwaukee Ave.

Candidly it wasn't on my to-do, but the restaurant happened to be on my route back to my hotel and I hadn't had dinner yet. I walked into the restaurant, and there was a spot open right at the bar waiting for me. I think it was meant to be. Loved the vibe of the restaurant, which was casual but trendy. Best part of all was the music. My ears perked up when I heard Hieroglyphics - The Who... A Plus Remix. Instantly felt "at home" with the underground, old school hip hop. Compliments to their curated Pandora playlist. I ordered the the spicy scallop roll, super san roll, and sawara (Spanish mackerel) nigiri. The spicy scallop roll was my favorite. The super san roll was a mix of their toro with varying fattiness. I appreciated that you could order half rolls at Sushi-San, which came out to 5 pieces instead of 10. This was more than enough food for me. The sawara was buttery and fresh. If you don't like the "fishiness" of saba, you'll enjoy sawara. Lastly, overall customer service was great. The food came out incredibly fast. The bartender who assisted me was awesome. He was attentive and personable.

I came with a friend for lunch during the week and they have a somewhat decent lunch special (for today's standards when factoring the cost of living and inflation). We took advantage of that and ordered the 3 combo platter per person so we got 6 total items since there was two of us. The highlights for us were three yellowtail yuzu sushi as well as the salmon rice bowl. The miso soup that came out first wasn't that great. It was overly salty. My friend who is from Japan that I ate with said this place was ok for American standards but not at all great compared to anything in Japan lol.

It clearly is for all their locations. Unfortunately, here at Chinatown's location, when they attempted to scan the card, the staff said it does not work and only works at the Printer's Row location. I ended up calling the Printer's Row location and had the team talk to the manager at the Chinatown location, and the manager at the Chinatown location kept their stance that it does not work, stating Printer's Row location does not know why the gift card does not work at the Chinatown location, and will not make any exceptions to accepting the gift card. Thankfully at the Printer's Row location, they are stating it's due to their system being new as they are a new location, and reason why the gift card is not working at all the locations yet which they are now working on to fix so it does not happen to any other customer moving forward. I just wish the Chinatown location showed some compassion to address the issue and still accommodate the inconvenience instead of us having to go back to the Printer's Row location to use the gift card Price: Approximately $20, not including tip for 2 people. There are lunch specials! Ambience: Indoor Seating Overall: Worst experience, especially to follow up my birthday celebration

My only critique is the pacing. Since the chef already had the fish sliced and prepped, I expected a smoother flow, but the meal took about an hour and a half for 14 pieces of sushi. It felt a bit slow, especially for a lunch service. That said, if you're looking for a reasonably priced omakase with quality fish, this is a solid choice.

Both were great. Our bartenders were lovely and very friendly. Found out this is a Malort tasting room and we were able to sample some different Malorts (the cocoa one was good!). Then we were taken back to our table for dinner. Our server was super friendly as well. Started with the miso soup and crispy tuna bites which were probably my favorite dishes. The taki yoki fritters weren't bad either. We saw people getting omakase, so we ordered a yummy looking piece they were receiving. It was just okay (chutoro truffle). The nigiri was also okay. The tuna piece was the only I really loved. The fish quality wasn't as high as I was expecting. The sushi was decent. A little too much truffle in the spicy blue fin tuna and a little too vegetable forward in the hamachi serrano. All in all, the atmosphere and amazing service pushed this up to a 4 for me.
