When a place says they use 'krab' in their cream cheese wontons - this place uses REAL crab and green onions with cream cheese! Delicious! I also have had a hard time finding places that serve shrimp where it doesn't taste old or fishy. This place knocked it out of the park with their shrimp and overall value of the meal. My kids love the sesame chicken here. So, I go here often. We get the same thing and it's pretty routine when I want to take them somewhere for a special mom-son evening. I recently went and I called in the order this time, for the first time in years instead of dining in. They did not listen to me very well, only announce, "Okay, 10 mins!" and hung up. They did not repeat my order for clarification. When I arrived, driving a good distance to get my order, they had only made one item for me to pickup. I did not have time to stay for them to fix the order. It was a disappointment for the distance I drove. Then, when I went to pay with a gift card that I received for Christmas, they said they couldn't accept it because they had a new machine. I just stared at them. I drove all this way for them to not listen to me, only give me 1 item, and then not let me pay with the very high balance gift card that I had. I will say that they let me write down my gift card number and the total. But, that was not without them trying to keep my gift card receipt and me standing my ground. I was not mean, but this was really too much. Side note, please check your to gos. This dish I ordered was the exact same dish we get. Every. Single. Time. for several years now. It did not have most of the vegetables we normally get on the plate and the fried rice was mostly white rice with a few veggies and barely any soy sauce. I'm super sad about this. If I didn't have a gift card, I'd never go back. My personal favorite Thai place is Chaang Thai. After the gift card, that is where we will be going from now on. read more

We tried the drunken noodles, coconut chicken soup (pretty bad actually, we didn't even eat it) the basil chicken (also really meh) and the Thai egg rolls - those were good. One of the only places I know that doesn't suffer from the "take out" curse. So many places you eat there and it's amazing and then you get take out and get home and it's so disappointing. Not here. We showed up to Thai Basil at about 6pm on a Saturday night and were promptly seated. As noted in a previous review, domestic beers are now $1.00 and house wines are $2.00 during happy hour between 5pm and 9pm. The restaurant is crowded and a bit noisy - not the type of place for an intimate date. The menu is a fairly diverse, pan-Asian affair, with enough variety to satisfy most (though I was surprised at the relative dearth of noodle dishes). I ordered the green curry with chicken, and my partner-in-crime got the drunken noodles with chicken. The food was served within a few minutes, which was nice, since yelling over the murmur of the crowd for much longer would have given me a pretty good case of rock concert voice. In contrast with comments from a previous review, both of these dishes had plenty of fire; in fact, that's pretty much all they had going for them. The green curry was mediocre, tasting of coconut milk, heat, raw veg, and not much else. The noodles were overcooked into sort of a gummy mess that could have doubled for shoe rubber if you found yourself in a real bind. Total meal price for two was ~$20, without any alcohol. The portions are fairly large, too - perfect for the average Colorado Springs crowd. Personally, I'm not sure that I'll be back. read more

Very friendly staff, good prices, convenient location, large portions. So why the 3-star rating? I feel the food is hit or miss. Shouldn't a Thai place have good pad Thai? And what in the world is Tequila Lime Beef doing on a Thai menu? Seems like something On The Border would sell. Had not been there in years. Used to go all the time - even the Denver locations. Anyways this past Sunday my husband and I decided to give it a shot after church and found the service to be horrible. Normally the service doesn't affect the food taste and quality but this time the service was so bad that it did. To keep it simple, we ordered food specified how we wanted it and when it came to us it was no where near what we ordered. It was bad we weren't being picky but what they brought us wasn't even on the menu we ordered from. When we let them no about their mistake they argued with us and then finally agreed to make it right. They did not. Instead they refashioned their mistake into some thing cold and jelly like that was supposed to be what we ordered. It was awful - we tried to eat it. We paid left and ate somewhere else. read more

Disappointing. Flavorless. I ordered the ginger chicken stir fry and the vegetable spring rolls. I could barely taste ginger, but there was plenty of salt flavor. There was lots of chicken, but almost no vegetables. The vegetable spring roll - not a vegetable to be found. It was a glass noodle spring roll. No vegetables at all in the dish. What's going on? Did they run out of veggies? They make a very thick honey based sweet dipping sauce. Yuck. I'm ftom CA and we have abundant Thai restaurants, so maybe I'm spoiled. This place was OK. Was in town visiting my college kid and he suggested this place and said it was great. I forgot what dish I ordered (that's how unmemorable it was), but it was served on a bed of crunchy noodles. The whole thing just lacked flavor. My boyfriend said his was just so-so as well. I came in here for take out and was really glad I stopped by. I ordered the drunken noddles with chicken. I told the staff I was in a hurry and they made sure to have my food done in less than 15 minutes. The noddles were very delicious with the right amount of spice. Visually, you'll find the overall restaurant pleasing with a little Thai-modern sense. My appetizer -Thai Spring Roll in rice paper (the usual order) didn't really owe me. Not saying it was bad, however the portion to flavor ratio, coupled with the "pre made, cold and just outta the refrigerator," fell a little shy when compared to a majority of the ones I've tried elsewhere. As for the main entree...I ordered the Chicken Eggplant. I will say it was very good...a perfect balance of chicken, eggplant and sauce, all prepared great. It's rare you that you don't come to find your meal swimming in sauce -and this delivered for sure. Portion wise...you get your money's worth! Okay....so, my peeve with the place was they don't offer the little spice tray (the one with the chili sauce.) This has to be the first Thai restaurant I've seen this at....maybe it's me being judgmental, but it's Thai and should be a standard at every table -kiddos like salsa to a Mexican joint. As many people have said, the food here just isn't Thai food. That said, it's perfectly edible; if you approach it expecting Chinese-American food with Thai ingredients, then it's fine. I could relate most specific observations to that. The Pad Thai has a weird syrupy sauce that just isn't right. The green curry had decent curry flavor, but the texture was too liquidy and the vegetables were all wrong. And so forth. read more

I came to this restaurant on the recommendation of a colleague. Thai food is one of my favorite foods. I would characterize this restaurant as a Chinese take on Thai food. The flavors are Thai, but some of the ingredients are distinctly Chinese. That said, I really enjoyed the food. I had the Thai Basil Chicken. I am usually not a fan of chicken since most places insist on chicken breast and then over cook it. My dish was perfectly cooked. The heat was just right. I really enjoyed the friendly banter with one of the two ladies running the restaurant. The food was good, the service was excellent and the happy hour can't be beat - 1.50 for my black lager. My family and I have been to this restaurant quite a few times. Each time it seems, the quality of the food seems to go downhill. My husband ordered drunken noodles and the noodles were very mushy and dry. My order the combo rice, lacked flavor. There were nice pieces of chicken, beef, and shrimp but the seasoning was lacking. My daughter ordered orange beef and the orange beef seem to be old. Wasn't hot and it was to sickly sweet to even try to eat. This will be the last time we come in.
