My family and I have been going to Thai Basil for years. The staff are always friendly and the food is consistently delicious. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming. My favorite dish to order is the pineapple fried rice-no other pineapple fried rice compares to Thai Basil's! I would also recommend the pad Thai, coconut shrimp, and salad rolls. Pros: Several lunch menu items are all $7.95. They give you A LOT of food, almost enough for two meals. Staff is friendly enough. Clean place and decent decor. Cons: For larger groups they will only take up to 3 credit cards. Depending on what you order, it's hit or miss. Noodle dishes seem to be ok....Overheard someone in my group say the Pad Thai overall was good but was greasey. Chicken comes in all lunch meals unless otherwise noted. And it doesn't taste that great. My L7 - Chicken with green beans, peppers, onion, bamboo shoots, thai basil and chili paste...was only so-so. Oily and greasey to say the least. Left my stomach hurting a tad. Overall it's not bad. Not great. It almost reminds me of what could be considered Thai 'fast food'. They are pretty quick to serve you. What a disappointment this place turned out to be. I went here for years and it was delicious. Then it started going way downhill. Then all of a sudden the amount of protein they gave you got small and they started putting black pepper on everything. When I would order I had to start saying no black pepper. Low and behold black pepper on everything. I even talked to the manager and what was maybe the owner and still black pepper in large quantities. I still might order them again. We also had the Tom Yum soup, and it was great. My Special Peanut sauce dish with shrimps as the meat option ($13) was good, and I counted all of 7 of the sea - going creatures, with their tails inconveniently still attached. My date had their Hot paradise with chicken ordered medium spiciness. It turned out to be spicier than expected. I took a bite of the chicken, and it was way too spicy for me, and there had been no water brought to the table, let alone offered by the server. We were never asked if we wanted seconds on beer, and our server all but walked by early to ask how things were. Food was generally good, but not great. Service was lacking. Quality Thai food and nice restaurant. I've been here to dine in before and last time we ordered take out. Very clean place and they are very covid compliant with spacing and wiping things down. Food is flavorful and great portion sizes also. Guy at the front and guy giving me my food we're friendly and helpful. Only bad part was the plastic the food was in started to crack on the bottom because the food was so hot. Maybe placing some foil on the bottom would help. read more

I drove by this restaurant quite often and honestly, hesitated to pay it a visit. Why? It never struck me as an authentic place for Thai or Laos. So finally, with "hangry" tummy, we stopped by on Saturday night. We ordered the stuffed chicken wings for appetizer.. May be we were extremely hunger, they were fantastically good. Then we ordered the pumpkin curry, spicy catfish and pineapple ginger with chicken. Well, the spicy catfish was really excellent but the other two... hmmm they were ok. Visiting the area for work, this place was a block away from the hotel I was at. I ordered the massaman curry with tofu. Wait staff was very knowledgeable and I was told they would make this without fish sauce to ensure it was vegan. The brown rice was sprouted (never seen this in a restaurant so definitely a huge plus!) Flavor was amazing- the broccoli was crisp, carrots soft and the potatoes were perfectly cooked. There was way more tofu than anyone should eat (but I did). I also loved how they used roasted peanuts in the curry! Hands down one of the best thai meals I have had in a decade! The only thing I would change is to offer spice levels- but I cant dock any stars because I could have just asked. read more

Five star restaurant. I've been here a bunch of times, and it's been great every visit! I usually get a noodle item on their menu called "The Oswego Noodle" which is a pretty regular dish with wide rice noodles, veggies, and a choice of meat (or not if you're vegetarian). I branched out of my comfort zone today and tried the "Yellow Curry with chicken. It was delicious! All the curries they have at this restaurant are spicy, but if you want it mild or with no spice at all then they can make it that way for you. read more

Big fan of this place if you're in the area! They have great lunch prices ($8.75 an entree as opposed to $11+) during the week so it's especially worth it to go Monday-Friday between 11:30-2:30. It's a very relaxed and spacious place with a shared parking in front. My personal favorite dish is the Drunken Noodles since it's such a nice blend of spice, noodle, and vegetables. I always get it with chicken, but for the same price you can get extra veggie, pork, or tofu. For $2 extra, you can get beef, calamari, or shrimp instead. I also enjoy their Thai Iced Tea but be warned that it's quite expensive for the amount you get. Overall a great little Thai place with lots of options and reasonable prices. I absolutely love Thai Basil! Always great quality and flavor! Everyone working there has always been so considerate and friendly. I'd normally include a photo (as it looks great too!) but getting to go- is a little harder to include worthy photo. We are truly so thankful they remain open at this time! take out orders are so fast, and I also personally appreciate that their containers hold up with hot food as well. Another big bonus- My daughter is Vegan and they can make nearly everything vegan as well. Makes it great to satisfy us both - to be able to order both vegan and non vegan items. I ordered the spicy basil fried rice to go. The portions were good. I ordered with chicken and they were generous with it. It also included onions and bell peppers. My family stopped here for lunch. We ordered Thai basil fried rice, Oswego noodles, and stir fried string beans with tofu. The food came quickly but we were disappointed by the taste. For one, my wife asked for tofu with her string bean dish but instead it came with chicken. Moreover, the string beans were undercooked and very tough to chew. My fried rice was very salty but tasted okay. My daughters noodles also had the same issue of a heavy amount of salt, but otherwise seemed to enjoy it. Overall, we would not recommend this place due to its poor food quality, however if you are someone who is less sensitive to salty food, this would be a good place to dine at. read more

I went here with my friends little late in the night and were not sure if they will serve. But they let us in and enjoy our dinner. The place looks nice and has a good seating arrangement for everyone. The napkins had a weird smell of oil and was not able to use because of that. Our server was super sweet and helpful. He made sure that we get what we order. I ordered Panang Curry with sticky rice and spice level at 4 out of 5. They served yummy food and services. The only thing I didn't like was spring rolls as they had a different flavor in it. I overall had a wonderful experience there and enjoyed my time with my friends and a wonderful meal. Had a hankering for some yummy food and boy was I disappointed. I ordered the tofu salad rolls. They were so tiny and pathetic! The cilantro inside was mostly stems...little leaves. Peanut sauce was watery. I also ordered #59 with chicken. Again, it was a tiny amount. The veggies lacked flavor and it had very little chicken. The peanut sauce was on the side and it resembled a flour based brown gravy with a touch of peanut butter. Blah. I was hoping to have lunch with the leftovers, but it went in the trash instead. I find Thai Basil to be betwixd and between Thai restaurants in the Southwest metro area. This is perfectly good Thai in a nice environment. However the food isn't as interesting as the nearby Dang's Thai Kitchen (tablecloth Thai) and their prices aren't as inexpensive as other places of similar quality (stripmall Thai) in the area. So I tend to bypass Thai Basil and satisfy my Thai needs elsewhere. I've only had good meals here, but nothing that makes it first pick for either quality or price. Service has been relatively efficient, so that hasn't been a factor either way. There are regularly coupons if you live in the area in the Lake O/West Linn Buy Local Only magazine, but they apply to dinner only. And I only dine here for lunch, so I'm out of luck. If I lived or worked in Lake O, I'm sure I would be more of a regular, but for me it isn't 'worth the drive.' read more

I really enjoy coming here, especially for lunch. The food is excellent, the wait staff is prompt and friendly, and they've got plenty of cheap lunch specials. I do caution bringing large groups sometimes. On multiple occasions, my co-workers and I have visited this place in groups of 6-8 and when the food was being served, usually 1 or 2 people have to wait an extra 5 minutes or more for their meal. When everyone else around you has a plate of hot scrumptious food in front of them, those 5 minutes can seem like 30. Add a bowl of peanut sauce for a $1 on the side for extra deliciousness. This has been our absolute favorite restaurant to go to for the pas eight years. But the last couple orders we placed were not that great. We always order two #70's along with 2 sweet mango rice. The rice was hard and over all dry and the sticky mango rice sauce was way different. It taste like straight out of a can coconut milk (which it didn't before. It's always been DELICIOUS). I am Thai so I have pretty high standards for authentic Thai food. Now, I understand that this is in a strip mall - so I set my expectations slightly lower and I was overall pleasantly surprised with my meal. Let me start by saying the interior is beautifully decorated. Very clean and lots of Thai decorations. The service is really top notch. Our water glasses were never empty and they came to check on us often. All of the food came out nice & hot, a great sign that everything is cooked to order. We ordered: Appetizer platter: my favorite part about this dish is all the food came out piping hot! Typically these appetizers come out like warm and greasy. This was not the case at all. Loved trying the two different sauces Papaya salad: I was so excited to see this traditional Thai dish on the menu since most restaurants don't have it. Overall it was very tasty, but it was missing some key ingredients like dried shrimp. The sauce was heavy on the fish sauce and I prefer my sauce to have more lime juice. Spicy catfish: another traditional Thai food that my dad used to make at home. The catfish was piping hot (signs of being fresh!) and I loved the green beans in it as well. I also appreciated that the sauce didn't drench my catfish. Mango & sticky rice: a delicious desert. Could've used more of the coconut white sauce, but the coconut shavings provided a nice crunch. Overall, I would definitely come back if I lived close by. Good prices, great portions, and stellar service. Really a solid 3.5 star restaurant. read more

Delicious food and large portions. We ate inside the restaurant. We had Green Curry Chicken and Hot Paradise Chicken. Both excellent. We started with dumplings and were surprised when they came out fried. Not what I was expecting but we really enjoyed them. The leftovers were delicious the next day too. I came here for a UYE lunch. It's cutely decorated, with pleasing colors. The service was quick, our dishes were brought out fairly quick after placing our orders. There were lag times between some orders, but for the most part, it was relatively quick. For my lunch special, I got an order of chicken pad thai for $7.25. It tasted fresh. The flavor isn't as robust as other Thai restaurants I've been to, but it's perfectly passable. I love that the restaurant is conveniently located close to the freeway! read more
