Cute business just off the harbor. Went for lunch. We were hungry and the place wasn't very busy. Several couples seemed to be enjoying their meals as we walked in. A good sign. Wifey ordered Yellow chicken curry with vegetables. Heaping bowl of ingredients swimming in a light curry sauce. Not too hot, just not night. Was served with white rice. Heat index was 1, as requested. I had the Thai Basal fried rice with chicken. I know, not to extravagant. Chicken serving was a little light, but taste was very good. Spice level was low at my request. On second thought, I'd pump that up in the future to a 2 or 3, rather than a 1. The hit of the day was the spring rolls. Homemade by owner. Tightly rolled vegetables in a multiple layer, thin, wrapping and deep fried to perfection. Dipping sauce, kind of a plumb sauce, was superb. Homemade too! We enjoyed our meal. Must Try: Crispy Tofu and Lobster Pad Thai! Why: We really wanted Asian cuisine since we've been having tons of seafood, but when we saw Lobster Pad Thai, we had to try! It did not disappoint and the dish was huge! We ended up getting a to-go box. To our surprise, it also came with shrimp on top of the lobster chunks. We also liked the Crispy Tofu, which was plentiful and delicious with the Thai Sweet Chili Sauce. The Spring Rolls were ok and came with three rolls. We came around 11:30am on a Saturday and there were two other parties eating, so enough parking. We got our food at 245 and he told us that we will be closing in 15 mins so hurry up and eat our food. First time trying Thai Basil. We are locals and always looking for a new place to try. My wife had the Thai Fried rice with chicken and I had the Basil stir fry with chicken. Overall, both dishes were excellent. My wife had spice level 1 and it had very little spice, but well seasoned. I had the level 2 and it definitely had a kick. Would probably try a level 1 next time. The Basil sauce was excellent. The spice levels are from 1 to 5. Cannot imagine what a level 5 would be. Overall, would definitely return when in the area. After traveling from Las Vegas, and being here for a few days I was craving some Thai food. Decided to give this place a try. It's a cute restaurant near the water. Their parking lot is a bit small but I was able to find parking right away. And I was greeted upon arrival. Ordered their summer rolls. I was a bit disappointed. It barely had any shrimp in it. The sauce was more of a curry peanut dipping sauce as opposed to the usual hoisin & peanut butter sauce it usually comes with. It's fine tho, some places can make it different than others. I just won't be ordering that again. Had their yellow curry with chicken. I felt like it was more on the watery side. Other than the thickness of the curry, it tasted pretty good. Full disclosure, I'm not a big Thai food fan, but my wife wanted to try this place, so here we are. We started with the crab rangoon and dumplings, both were incredibly tasty and flavorful. I enjoyed the pork dumplings more. The rangoon didn't seem to have very much filling, but they were crispy and savory. We moved on to the soups ordering Miso and Wonton. The Miso soup was ok, but not as flavorful as my wife would have liked. The Wonton soup was a generous portion, packed with veggies and dumplings that satisfied my craving. Moving on to entrees, we ordered the sweet and sour shrimp and the chicken and vegetables with basil sauce. I wasn't a big fan of the sweet and sour shrimp. Although it was loaded with shrimp and vegetables, the sauce wasn't sweet at all. I didn't even eat my dish, because I couldn't get past the taste of the sauce - I couldn't tell if the shrimp was too fishy or if there was just too much vinegar in the sauce, but I knew I didn't like it. Again - I'm not a big Thai foodie, so maybe it's just me and my expectations for sweet and sour sauce shouldn't be paired with how it is at my favorite Chinese restaurant (Dragon Inn of Kansas City). My wife enjoyed her dish, it was well seasoned with tender bites of chicken. However, in my opinion, the real star of the meal was the house fried rice. It was a large, delicious portion of veggies and fried rice cooked to perfection. We both enjoyed our side dish and ate every bite. Hands down one of the best in town. I'd go back for the fried rice alone! The service was friendly and attentive - no complaints there. I needed another Thai food fix while we're on our travels so while staying in Panama City Beach in our RV, we stopped at Thai Basil so I could get her to go order!!! The inside was not very large, but looked clean and comfortable. I ordered the drunken noodles.(again) flavor wise. These were more traditional than the last location I was at in Sarasota. Flavor was awesome not a ton of vegetables on there, but I did get the chicken which was tender and perfectly cooked. I also got the pan fried dumplings, which I'm gonna say are probably some of the best that I've tasted since moving from San Diego. And the crispy spring rolls which were also very good! They said it would be 15 minutes, but it was more like 25 but I'm not gonna take a star off for that because it looked kind of crowded on the inside.... If we lived in the area, this would definitely be a regular stop for me on a weekly basis lol. read more

I really like this quaint little Thai food restaurant near the beach. It has turned into quite the local hotspot as we have emerged from lockdown. I usually get the pineapple chicken and shrimp. This dish is a floor explosion! The peppers and onions really add a nice kick. I also like the portions sizes the offer and how hearty their meals are. They also have a pretty good craft beer selection. I like that they serve most of the beer the offer in pints. Restaurants like this make trips to Panama City worthwhile. read more

Ordered delivery. Tom ka soup was good. Don't be afraid to order more heat as a 2 didn't seem like anything. Fresh veggies in it outweighed the overcooked chicken. Pa Thai with tofu was everyone's favorite and I would definitely recommend. Red curry was disappointing as it was so watery with minimal veggies and tough overcooked chicken. Worst service I've had in a long time. Decided to try Thai basil in Panama City. We found out that they closed at 3 PM so we got there at 2:20 as soon as we opened the door the staff had a scowl on their faces. We told them there would be six people, and they told us to take the six top in the back corner of the restaurant. We asked if we could sit at the 8 top in the middle of the restaurant and the woman seating us said she would have to ask the owner because she was concerned that eight people might come in behind us. Even though there were 2 -4 top tables right next to each other that could be pushed together if that did happen. By the way the restaurant was virtually empty. Everybody ordered their food, and as it came out the waitress announced "who had this dish" and then she would hand it to the person at the end of the table, expecting them to pass it down even if it was a bowl of hot soup, which is pretty dangerous to be passing around . At one point one person at our table asked for more napkins and the wait staff brought out small cocktail napkins then later another from our group asked for napkins and the waitress when to the end of the table and grabbed some of the few cocktail napkins she brought earlier. Another one of our group members had to get up and go ask for more water . Then when the bill came, I noticed that my entrée was three dollars more than what the menu had printed. She told me it was because I asked for sticky rice even though when I asked if I could have sticky rice, they told me that's what the dish came with. For this service we weren't going to tip, but they had already added 18% tip to the bill so I guess that's why she didn't feel like she had to give good service. Over all the food was delicious which accounts for my 3 star review. My advice. Get the food to go. It will taste much better at home without the sassy service. And when you do. Don't tip. As much as a buddy of mine and I go on road trips, I usually pick where we go. Much to my dismay, it would be fair for me to give him a choice. I might revoke his choices from now on though. I think he purposely picks Asian not because he liked it but because I'm indifferent to it to say the least. Thai Basil actually has a lot going for it when it comes to atmosphere. You cannot miss this odd looking building in downtown Panama City in front of the marina. It is shaped weird inside and the color scheme is a lot of green. The older lady as the hostess was waaay too nice but I think she has trouble understanding English. The menu has photos to help you make your choice. I looked at the photos on the menu and the photos on Yelp. I saw a disturbing theme...soupy food. Did I mention that soup is something I don't care for and what's worse is the middle ground of solid food but sitting in a pool of soup. I asked the waitress is the garlic entree or sweet and sour was better. She recommended the sweet and sour. I am thinking of Chinese sweet and sour. Unfortunately, it was nothing like it. It was like the chef cut up a lot vegetables, boiled a chicken breast in a pan with no seasoning, and dumped soup on it. I had made something like this before and it was possibly my worst made meal ever. And this was a slight step above it. Gyoza was the appetizer we ordered and it was by far the best food of the night. I sampled my friend's Pork Pad Thai. It was better than mine. What irks me the most is that I wasted a meal and money on an unflavorful mess when I am missing out on my favorite foods. My friend's future choices will be revoked. read more

We ordered pineapple fried rice and miss Thailand as well as a spicy tuna roll. Also we ordered drinks (soda and water) as well as hot tea. The hot tea never showed up but we were not charged. The fried rice dish was good but the pineapple fried rice dish is explained as: Chicken, pork, shrimp, egg, onion, pea, carrots, tomatoes, cashew nut & curry powder. This is my husbands favorite dish everywhere we go. He's also allergic to dairy. We knew within a few minutes of eating it that it had dairy in it somehow. Not sure how. Miso soup, bomb...not one single miso soup has disappointed me. However the surf & turf sushi was very mid. The filet mignon just didn't taste right on the sushi & the textures/temperatures didn't go well. My bf liked it, maybe I'm just picky. Pad Thai was very disappointing. It was somehow lacking flavor while being too tangy. They did give a good amount of shrimp & lobster though. Crispy duck was the lifesaver for this meal. I got it with the basil sauce & it comes with a side of jasmine rice. The skin on the duck was in fact crispy, the flavors worked well with all the veggies & sauce, & the duck wasnt dry. The only thing I would do to improve this entree is add more duck meat. I got a lot of skin (which was great) but more meat would've been better. The taste of food is important, but service is too! I placed a to go order at 6:06pm that included spring rolls, sweet and sour chicken, and thai fried rice with chicken and shrimp. I was told it would be ready in 20-25 minutes. I arrived in 25 and paid in cash. It is now 7:07pm and I still do not have my order. As I sit here, I realize many others are waiting too. The dining room is probably half full so I'm confused as to what's going on. While about to write something else...the chef comes out to look at my receipt and see what I ordered. Stars went from 3 to 2. AND a man came in to sit down to eat, waited at the host desk for a solid 5-7 minutes and then walked out...as he should've considering he was never greeted. I have ordered here before and the food was so good and fresh, but after the service I just experienced tonight...never again!
