I don't know what happened to this place. The food was terrible. The service was terrible. The whole situation was terrible. There is one table in the entire restaurant taken. No one else there. We get sat right next to them. Why? Give us space and a little breathing room. There was no smile hi welcome or any sort of warm greeting. Nothing. The waiter guy is on his phone and I'm raising my voice for him to come take our order. He doesn't check in to take our order or anything just hanging on his phone. Disaster ensues. The food comes. The fresh rolls had barely any chicken in them. The other fresh roll was shrimp there was one shrimp in each one. $10 each. All lettuce no protein. The green beans and meat dish was not good. Chewy meat and it was oily everywhere. I was so hungry I just ate it. The brown rice tasted like toilet bowl water or some sort of cleaning solution. It had a bad smell to it. Because there was only lettuce in the fresh roll and no protein, we ordered the chicken satay. That tasted like rubber. The peanut sauce was watered down jiffy. Oh and we had to yell across the restaurant to get that order in. He filled our water on time and that's about it. No check in, nothing. The restaurant seemed depressing and worn down a bit. By the way I used to come here all the time when I worked downtown. Downhill big time since I've been here and I'm never coming back. No wonder it's in the 3s on star rating. This is located within walking distance of Arizona Financial Theater, so it was packed when we went before an event. There were only 2 servers so service was slow, but Thai food is fast so it all worked out. Food was fine. Nothing super stand out, but totally acceptable Thai food. Plenty of veggies. The chicken pieces were large and rather tough - I wish they would slice them thinner and velvet them like most Asian restaurants, but again, not inedible. I was disappointed the Thai fried rice, which was listed as having Thai herbs, did not have any herbs or much flavor. I LOVE Thai basil so had really looked forward to that. read more

We ordered the Pad Thai, Drunken Noodles, and Siamese Chow Mein, and every dish was packed with flavor. The Pad Thai was perfectly balanced, the Drunken Noodles had a great kick, and the Siamese Chow Mein was savory and satisfying. Everything tasted fresh and well-seasoned. I came here 10 years ago and was in town and thought I would try it out again. I told the hostess there would be two of us and she pointed to a table and said I could sit there, but didn't guide me over and continued doing other things. I didn't get a menu for 10 minutes or anyone coming over. The server was standing behind the bar texting. I had to flag down our server to get a drink order after sitting for 20 minutes. I came here on a Tuesday night after I'd landed in Phoenix. I got the chicken pad-see-ew and it was really good. I asked for a spice of 3 and I didn't taste any spice so I guess I should've went up a couple levels to feel the heat. The service was excellent. Let me start by saying this place was my go to for the past 2 years. I would go about 1 a month to enjoy my favorite dish of Pad Thai. Today I did my normal routine, went a saw some museums, shopped a little and I thought "hey, I'm going to go get some pad Thai." Walking in optimistic, ready to sit and eat. My first notice was the unfamiliar faces of the staff. Unfortunately there was no greeting, but it was busy so I sat where the lady told me to go. Got my water and waited to order patiently. I noticed that I wasnt being priotized and everyone else was getting their orders placed. Took about another few minutes to be noticed, had to wave them down. No apology, just "what can I get you", placed my order, and was ready for the food to come out. Normally I get my pad Thai at a level 4, but when the food came out, the spice was non existent. I asked for the spice tray, but was told they longer do that? Weird because a few weeks ago I had just gotten it? Maybe a new law or standard was raised? Idk. Regardless my dish was just plain sweet. The lady handed me siracha, but I did not want to put siracha on the food. The entire time I was there I felt the gentleman who was assisting her were both avoiding me? I let it go as I was there to eat but never the past 2 years have I ever felt uncomfortable or unwanted at this establishment. When the check came, I put my CC on the tray with the receipt as he placed it on the table. By this time there was only 4 tables including my own, but for some reason he did not want to take my CC right at that moment. I waited about another 7 minutes for him to charge me, which I felt "okay, they don't want me here, they don't want to be nice, fine" so I signed my check, and left. Not sure what the vibe was about or why they were neglecting the customer service I had grown to enjoy here. Unfortunately, that will be last time there and will no longer be recommending this place. When you are serving food, good vibes should be served along with it, but a lot of negative energy was given and none of those relics or symbols seem to be working. 0/10. read more

Take out only review - This place was recommended by a coworker who is local to Phoenix and when he said this will be one of the best places I will eat Thai food, he was for sure not kidding. So, I walked by a few times, place is always packed (which I always think is for a reason) I decided to stop by on a Sunday night and ordered a chicken pad thai and some veggie spring rolls. This might sound like a very basic order, but friends, this was really flavorful. Mind that I got the food and walked about 10 minutes to the hotel where I was staying, ate one of the springrolls and when I went to the pad thai, it was hot still!!!! I could not believe that. I've got pad thai from places literally across the street before and never stays warm. And it gets better, I just ate half of it and microwaved the rest the night after and it was still good! The only thing that I would consider when I am back (because there is no way I am going back to Phoenix and not stopping by here) is just the level of spicy. Out of 5 levels I wen adventurous and ordered level 3. It was too much for me at certain point. But that is basically something I chose. When Harumi, or Zen Thai is closed...still Thai Basil is not an alternative. The night I decided to order at Thai Basil, my first option was closed. I walked inside and before I stepped all the way in, a lady asked how she could help me. This may not seem strange, but trust me it was. Maybe she expected me to walk in looking for directions. Normally you're asked if you're dining in, or taking out. The funny thing is she asked the next two sets of patrons what she should've asked me. Secondly, I wasn't offered any water while awaiting my to go order, or even a seat. At this point I regretted even walking in to this place. Fast forward, my curry comes out in less than 5 minutes, and I just know it cannot be fresh. I was correct. I walked to my apartment, and opened the containers. The rice was super gummy and completely clumped together. The Curry, was boiling hot, fresh from a microwave no doubt. Here's the kicker, the green curry had LARGE CROWNS OF BROCCOLI in it! Who does that! The curry was the most DISGUSTING curry I have ever tasted in my life! There was no flavor, it tasted like, hot green water. I took two bites of my food, and threw it in the trash where it belonged. I would NEVER, recommend this place based on their lack of equality towards lone patrons, customer service, and disgusting food. I recommend Zen Thai for curry, which has a much better vibe, and food. read more

When we were sat at our table, no one came by for at least 10 minutes. Other diners who were sat before us were getting up and leaving because of no service. When someone finally came to take our order, it was another 20 minutes before anybody came back. When they brought our food, everyone in our party, got their food, except for one person. They had to wait for another 10 minutes to get their food. We all had water, and no one ever came back to fill it up. Some in our group had very spicy dishes and would have appreciated some water. We had to go up to the front and hunt down someone to get a check and pay because no one was coming back. The other two ordered green curry w/chicken with a spice level of 2 and pad Thai w/chicken with a spice level of 2. We also ordered the Combination appetizer. We had water to drink. The green curry came with a small bowl of rice. The curry was good but I wished that the curry sauce would have been thicker instead of a watery consistency. I put the rice into my plate and scooped the curry chicken and veggies onto it. The pad Thai noodles seemed too pasty like or over boiled. The Combination appetizer was good. This location This location is awesome spot to people watch write down on Adams and 1st Avenue downtown service wasn't the greatest, we basically sat ourselves and had to remind them we were there, finally got water and took them 10 minutes to come back to take our order, side not only 4 tables were seated when we arrived. By the time we ordered the place git crowded due to the after work/conference crowd, we ordered the combination sampler, tofu, chicken satay, fried carrots, and our main course was Green Curry and Spicy Noodles, food was great and flavored to perfection. Another great lunch spot downtown. They have lunch combos that come with soup, a spring roll w/sweet chili sauce, and jasmine or brown rice. There was plenty of seating inside, and the wait staff was very attentive. We ordered the #10 Red Curry with Chicken, and #14 Pad Thai with Chicken. The soup came out first, and it was a nice light broth, with good seasoning. All combos come with your choice of protein. The delivery person was good & left the order at the door - from order to delivery was about 45 mins which was fine. Ordered a few items - green tea was flavorless, the fried fish cake was over cooked to the point you couldn't take a bit of it - only 1 piece was edible out of the 6-7 pieces, so it got tossed in the trash. Didn't include a picture of the fish cake because by the time I thought of it, it'd been thrown it in the trash. The chicken yellow curry was ok, light on the chicken. The chicken drunken noodles was ok, heavy on the cabbage. The mango on purple sticky was good, though the mango had the over ripe tang to it. Won't be trying them again, there are a lot of other Thai places to try. read more
