Was craving Thai food, so thought we'd try a restaurant we'd not eaten before. Unfortunately it didn't turn out well. The delivery person was good & left the order at the door - from order to delivery was about 45 mins which was fine. Ordered a few items - green tea was flavorless, the fried fish cake was over cooked to the point you couldn't take a bit of it - only 1 piece was edible out of the 6-7 pieces, so it got tossed in the trash. Didn't include a picture of the fish cake because by the time I thought of it, it'd been thrown it in the trash. The chicken yellow curry was ok, light on the chicken. The chicken drunken noodles was ok, heavy on the cabbage. The mango on purple sticky was good, though the mango had the over ripe tang to it. Vegan review: I've eaten at various Thai Basil locations previously, including this one, and have asked if the curries are veg/vegan and been told yes. On my most recent visit, the server checked with the cook (thankfully) and confirmed that the curries have fish sauce, but the stir fries other than pad Thai would be entirely plant-based if ordered with tofu/veggies. I've pretty much given up getting Thai curry at most places now except for Chon Thai, which goes out of its way to make sure the curries are vegetarian/free of any seafood ingredients. I wasn't too hungry anyway, so I just ordered the fresh rolls with no shrimp. The fresh rolls were a disappointment. They were mostly iceberg lettuce with a bit of unflavored, uncooked tofu. The sauce wasn't what I'd consider to be a peanut sauce - it was more of a thick sweet and sour sauce with crushed peanuts on top. I won't be ordering them again. I've had the red curry and the panang before and liked them, but didn't realize I was eating fish sauce. My dining companions got a few items that were vegan and looked good - both were stir fried noodle dishes with tofu but I don't remember what they were called. I think one was the Pad See Ew and the other was the silver noodles but am not certain. My friends said they were okay but not great. Service was prompt and friendly - no issues. We visited this restaurant after Capitol Museum for the short distance (1.5 mile), and want something hot for the chilly 30 degree weather. We purposely took the late lunch to avoid crowd, but still waited for 10 minutes. I guess it's a popular spot in this area. We had Pad See Ew, Tom Yum, and yellow curry. Great thing about Thai restaurant is that it's very consistent. The Pad See Ew is as good as what I had in Thai Town Los Angeles. Pan fried food just before burnt, the caramelized onion blended with noodle, egg, and vegetables in harmony. Very well executed. Tom Yum is fine. I think all the right ingredients are presented, but might need to tweak the percentage. But that might have been my own preference though. Curry is good. Freshly made. You can taste the difference. I know many Thai restaurants make a large batch and use throughout the week. Not here. Location is good. Parking can be a little challenging during peak time. read more

I really love the pad Thai here! I've had it twice now and the reason I like it so much is because it isn't soaked in fish sauce. The flavors are great and the pad Thai is "saucy". I would have enjoyed it even more if lime, cilantro and peanuts were served with it (I ordered DoorDash) but oh well! Boyfriend got red curry and enjoyed it. As someone who loves the northern Thai dish called Kao Soi, I was delighted to find this gem very near my workplace. It appears on the lunch menu as Curry Noodles but it's a faithful rendering of Kao Soi. A very good dish. I asked for 4 out of 5 spicy and it was solidly hot -- just what I wanted. However, do try this dish at whatever heat level you prefer. It's delicious! I wish the servers were more attentive to our water glasses. I hate running out of water and I had to ask for more. Been here before for in person dining and had a nice experience. Decided to try to go food from here and it was a mistake. Both boxes were soaked from the sauce and the noodles were dry because all of the sauce had leaked out of both. We asked if they could remake them , to which they said there was nothing they could do. Essentially just paid for dried noodles with vegetables. Food and service is good BUT watch out for the level of spice that you order. My husband and I eat Thai food all the time and at this place we ordered our usual Pad Thai, level 4 spicy. The level seemed like a 10! Usually, we tough through, we don't complain and we just eat. This time, it was too spicy to eat. They didn't offer any recourse, which is fine, but wished they offered something to compensate for our oversight. We ended up ordering another dish, with no spice. read more

Return visit to Thai Basil. Still not as highly successful as the TB in Chandler but still good. I arrived at 11:15 on a Monday and there were 10 tables full. The service, once again was excellent. I was greeted at the door and offered a table, brought water and a salad within 3 mins. I tried a new dish based on Yelp reviews: Pad See Ew. The dish was good but not great. I think my issue was with the sauce: it was rather bland. Also the noodles were so roughly chopped that the dish looked like a hot mess. It had about 3 ounces of beef, three small broccoli spears and a few carrots and onions mixed in as well. Again, good tasting but not great. All told it came to $9.76 plus tip. Another visit, 2 years later. Arrived at 1:15 on a Monday afternoon in January. Eight full tables. I got the Pad Thai lunch special with beef. It came with a very flavorful broth soup, a veggie egg roll which was forgettable plus the entree, which came to $10.05 plus tip The Pad Thai was thrown together from the various components: the rice noodles and tofu were premixed and then the beef, bean sprouts, spices and peanuts were poorly added. I gave them a 'pass' on that because it was a lunch special which needed to be quick. The cleaning dude was a bit annoying. He wiped down the entire restaurant during service, including the windows just inches from the other diners. Also, all the cleaning supplies were kept in the men's room, including the mop bucket, all cleaning fluids and backup paper products. Frustrating. read more

Spicy! Played a game of f around and find out by asking for Thai spice on the curry noodles. I found out. It's impressively spicy which seems to be amplified when it comes out steaming hot. I enjoy spicy and had to take this one kinda slow to let it burn. Besides spicy, the flavor was great on the curry, full and round, which is a great pair with the heat. Thai basil where have you been all my life! I randomly stumbled upon Thai Basil Signature when I was craving some Pad Thai and found this restaurant on Grubhub. The food was phenomenal. I ordered the Fresh Roll, Shrimp Wrap, Pad Thai and the Siamese Pineapple Fried rice (which caught my eye and I wanted to try). The fresh roll lived up to its name. All the ingredients were fresh and crisp and delicious. The shrimp wraps are a new (and amazing) twist on crispy classic and we're crisp to perfection. The pad Thai is a little on the spicy side but has an awesome and intense flavor. The fried rice which I ordered on a whim has become a major favorite. Such a unique blend of flavors that accent each other perfectly. One of the more amazing things is I've ordered from this place multiple times via grubhub and sometimes the food quality isn't the best, that has not been the case with this restaurant at all! It was the perfect amount of spice. If you don't like your food spicy at all, I would say order a one. I'm sure the second level has a bit of kick to it. The portion was large! Really hurts to write this review. For a year now, every time I go for lunch in downtown, I end up at Harumi Sushi next door. Noticed this was a "signature" Thai basil, so I wanted to try it one day. I expected it to be better than the normal Thai Basil locations which are usually pretty good. Walked in, sat down, put an order in for Pad See Ew with beef to go. Was excited and couldn't wait to dig in when I got back to the office. First impression, the food looked, inadequate. Didn't see enough noodles. Took a bite, and the beef was very chewy, and the flavors were sub par - heavy on the sweet side which I did not expect. Was starving so ate the little portion and finished with a disappointed and unfulfilled feeling and a bad after taste. It's the worst experience I've had recently. So delicious and full of flavor. The curry has definitely become a favorite, so far I've had the yellow as well as the red and the green is coming next lol.
