It felt very out of place. There were also pickled carrots, which I ended up removing, not for me. The broth was noticeably greasier than before, which was another letdown. All 3 were delicious and easily able to be shared between 3 people. We transitioned into ordering the prime New York Strip and the Maitake mushroom to share. The steak had a very nice pungent but sweet glaze on it that went very well with the marbling of the cut. Finally, we had the strawberry chamomile tart which was a great way to cap off the evening! I lived in Hawaii and know good Polynesian cuisine but Jeff and the Island Loco crew bring the islands here...for real. Some tips: The fusion tacos are awesome -- the corn and black bean salsa is to die for. The kalua pork is great, but my favorite was a simple teriyaki chicken bowl with a side of mac salad. But if you really want the money dish, be sure to get whatever entree you like with a side salad and the extraordinary sesame dressing Jeff makes. Wow. So much umami!
