Quick Friday afternoon lunch date with my wife. We sat at the bar and I started with some tasty Miso soup while my wife had the chilled ginger salad. We split an order of veggie tempura (appetizer) and a twin Sushi roll special for lunch. The food came out hot and plentiful. Rolls were not the typical rolls. Very artistically displayed and very fresh and tasty. I had a pot of perfectly warmed Jasmine tea and my wife had water. We had to take half of the sushi and half of the vegetable tempura home! We were full. Our server was very friendly and not rushed at all. The fellow patrons at the bar were friendly as well and we had a great last minute afternoon date! We live just down the road and have only ordered take away to date, but we enjoyed ourselves so much, we vowed to make it a weekly thing from here on out. read more

Friendly service. Food not yummy. Salmon tartar was meh. General Thai Chicken was terrible. It tasted like premade frozen chicken cutlets tossed in tobasco sauce. It was served at an excellent temperature and looked beautiful on the plate. I wanted to love it. After three bites I paid my check and said no to a to-go box to take it home. No amount of my personal kitchen magic could have made that chicken palatable. Despite it being clear I only ate three bites and was leaving my $13-14 meal behind basically untouched, the server asked or did nothing to see what was wrong. I honestly didn't have the energy to complain or ask for a different dish or ask it be removed from my bill. I just paid for it and left. Lesson learned. I will read the yelps first before trying someplace new to me again. read more

Had the worse $& meal at Thai Basil. Tried something new- triple delite. It was made with yesterday's pork, beef and chicken. To mask the old meat, extra MSG was added. A few veggies where Added & not cooked. Unfortunately this was not editable. Very disappointed read more

We've been wanting to try this place. It always looks busy! We stopped by for dinner mid-week. The curry was thin like a soup and was served in a soup bowl. It was basically a soup. It tasted good though. Everything else was good too and we had enough leftovers for lunch the next day. The chicken satay appetizer was the best thing we ordered. Our dinners came with salads with a delicious peanut dressing. The following week, we went back, and our dinners did not come with a salad. This waitress said salads were not included. Odd. Have been looking forward to going there since they opened and after work our group (7) went there after looking on Yelp that it was open till 9:00. We never visited Thai Basil when they were located in Danielson, but now's our chance. Located in a small building in an area where 3 towns meet, it's technically in Woodstock. We tried to stop in 2 weeks ago but was told to come back in an half an hour. Not wanting to wait we went up the road to an established place, and regretted that. Made reservations for Friday early evening just Incase and glad we did. The place filled up fast after we arrived. At the time they don't have their liquor permit, but we came to eat. Greeted and seated right away. Our waitress, Josie (spelling?) came over. Very helpful and friendly. They have sushi and other Japanese fare, decided on Thai. Did the apps, and we ordered Thai egg roll, Nime chow, and crab Rangoon. All of them were very good, but the filling in the Rangoon's stood out. For entrees we went with the hot basil with shrimp and Mee Pad with shrimp. Both of them were absolutely delicious and a very good portion. The price was reasonable for the quality and quantity. Rest rooms are very clean. The only thing I'm going to mention is because of the small size and the capacity, expect some background noise. Very difficult sometimes to hear your partner talking. I recommend trying the Thai Basil, if you feel like eastern food, but Chinese doesn't cut it, or the local Chinese eatery sucks. I read more

Last night, my family and I decided to go to Thai Basil as it is one of our favorite places to dine in. I was sitting at one of the booths enjoying the food and quality time with my family when all of sudden I heard a woman screaming. I look over and this woman was going off at these two girls. She was incredibly disrespectful and was being extremely inappropriate by cussing at them with other families and children around. This woman who is around my age ( I'm in my very late 40's), was screaming at these two young female workers all because she was told her daughter was not allowed in Thai Basil for acting like a hooligan the other times she has come in (mother like daughter I guess). I was embarrassed and disgusted by her child-like behavior. The young girls handled that situation so well by being calm and collective. That just shows how amazing and professional the stuff are at Thai Basil. read more

Thai Basil had yet to disappoint. We have been regular guests since they were in Danielson and even better now that they are in Woodstock right down the street from us. The food continues to be delicious as well as top notch service. Yes it was hectic in the beginning and may continue as with a new space and employee's it'll take time but until they are fully settled, please people be kind, patient and courteous with them. They offer multiple Asian cuisines and they're not bad, but it's far from great. Some of the dishes just miss the mark and lack the freshness or complexity that is typical of Thai or Japanese cuisine. But it fills you up if you're hungry. read more

This is the third time I've been to Thai Basil since they moved to Woodstock and have consistently been disappointed. The food is more expensive than other local sushi restaurants and is lower quality. I ordered two meals and had all of our rolls smushed into one container so the pieces broke apart when we tried separating it. We also were given less ginger and wasabi because there wasn't room in the container. The rolls were inconsistent with fillings, the miso soup was bland and the Kani salad had no mayo in it so it was dry. They forgot my soup (they have forgotten something every time I've ordered something to go) and charged me separately for it when I went to pick up my order instead of putting it on the same bill. My family and I couldn't wait for this place to open. After waiting literally one hour for 3 entrees, and being told by the manager that she had "no estimate as to when our food would be ready", we got up and left. We will never return. They advertise a beautiful drink menu but their bar isn't open. They won't tell you this when you call for you (mandatory) reservation because they still want you to come spend money in their establishment while they wait for their liquor license. There is a difference between "new restaurant kinks" and the kind of disingenuous unprofessionalism we experienced here. We saw ~20 takeout orders go out while we sat and waited for our meals for nearly an hour. Their priority was made clear. Maybe the food is good (we'll never know) but they couldn't give less of a care about your experience as a guest. Buyer beware! read more

Must have a different chef than Danielson as my pad see ew has none of the delicious sweet flavor and copious veggies I used to drive 1 hour to get. (This is my 2 nd trip to the new place). The dish was also salty. My husband's pad thai was dry and relatively flavorless as well. I hope they can get back to their once spectacular flavors. read more

This place is delicious. The service was amazing! The host was soo sweet. The food tasted so fresh and the drinks were bomb.

First time trying out the new Woodstock location tonight. The outside and inside looked really nice. We sat in the bar area at a high top against the window. The tables are a little close so it was nice to not be in the main dining room with all the traffic. We started with crab rangoon which were just as great as we remember. We each had chicken hibachi and split general Thai chicken and a sushi roll (we had plenty of leftovers). There are no open hibachi tables which is sad but there is literally no room for it. So don't expect the typical hibachi dinner show. Our server was young and possibly inexperienced. He was sitting at a corner table in the bar area eating and on his phone, surrounded by clean utensils waiting to be wrapped. Under the table was messy and littered with plastic napkin wrappers. He even went as far as to tell us he was waiting on us off clock. I supposed he was on break but from working in a restaurant for 14 years, you don't sit and eat and be on your phone while in front of customers. All the while in between your own food and mine without washing your hands. The serving staff should be aware of the effect this has on paying customers. While we will be back because the food was excellent, I'm not sure if we will dine in or just order takeout in the future. read more

1st time since fire in danielson location. Staff was attentive and answered all questions. Lighting excellent compared to the dark dingy place. The menu was well layed out food was very beyond my expectations. Prices were spot on...will return more regularly. read more

Disappointed in our first visit, from the hesitancy of the host to let us sit in a booth, when they were all unoccupied. Ordered Garlic chicken with jasmine rice and an order of chicken wings. Requested no mushrooms in dish. Service was timely. When it arrived, I asked if we could get a larger spoon to share the dish. We ate and I found a few mushrooms in the dish, and no carrots per menu. There were no knives to cut the vegetables or meat! The chicken wings were over cooked being dry and crunchy and not very flavorful. I mentioned some of these things to the waitress, but having bothered her so many times I didn't pursue it. Leaving the parking lot it dawned on me that there were also no cashews in the dish which was one of the main reason for ordering it. We won't be visiting there for any time in the near future! read more
