Great food, service is great, I have't had anything there yet I didn't like. Fancy presentation of food. Wish it was a little more cozy inside. Slightly pricey but worth it.

The quality is above average, something I've had a hard time finding recently with AYCE establishments. Service is great. Our waitress was very attentive and made sure we got all our rounds in, even though we were dining close to closing. I didn't feel rushed out whatsoever and appreciated how the portions are reasonably sized. They don't overcrowd the table and make you more mindful of how much you'll order next. The individual pots are a huge plus for me. Everyone gets their own broth to cook whatever they want within close reach. The DIY sauce bar is only icing on the cake! Shabu will fill you up, especially on a cozy winter night. If you're looking for the best season to try, though I'd argue shabu always hits year round, take this cold RI winter to give this place a go.

We got to chat with the owner Ping very nice gentleman originally from Hong Kong. He came to check on us to make sure everything is good that we like the food. Very good service, our server is very busy cleaning up the restaurant while still refill our water and tea and comes over to clean our table. Very polite people here. This is the best Cantonese dinner restaurants in East Coast, forget about going to flushing ny or Brooklyn if you want authentic good Cantonese food, get the real one here. Reminds me of Hong Kong Chow fun is fresh homemade, i've never had better one!! We ordered beef chow fun. Beef with bitter melon so flavorful tender beef. From the dim sum menu, we ordered the deep fried taro dumplings, steamed shrimp dumplings & our favorite, stir-fried Chinese broccoli with garlic. I wish we had more people so we could order more dim sum items to share! From the regular menu, hubby ordered the lunch combo #14: jumbo shrimp with vegetables, golden fingers, fried rice & egg roll. My Son and I were there Sunday early afternoon to celebrate the US Men winning olympic gold in hockey earlier that morning and had an excellent experience. The food and service was EXCELLENT. We throughly enjoyed the experience. It's been 6 months since our last visit, it won't be nearly that long before we return. We had a great time. My only negative comment, the appetizer/ sauce bar that I was critical of in September hasn't changed . Management really needs to change that set up. It's just not hygienic, when you lean over the get a plate or bowl stored under that bar, your face is inches away from the unprotected buckets of sauce, it's not a good set up and needs to be changed. It's not like fixing this set up would cost a lot of money to fix and it really should be changed immediately.

We each ordered a different type of broth & all 3 of us enjoyed our choices. The meat, seafood, tofu & veggie selections were all delicious & fresh. Service was good!! We had a great time & all want to return to try the Korean bbq. That being said, I would be careful with the appetizer choices. We avoided the crab legs & the cray fish (I think that's what they were?). The French fries were decent, the veggie spring rolls were ok, my husband tried the seaweed salad & my son tried the chicken. Both were fine. Nothing special. The interior design has much to be desired, but like I mentioned already, we weren't there for the decor.

We each ordered the mini hotpot with two broths and got a table full of meats and veggies and even ordered a second round of meat (in hindsight, that was too much and we weren't able to finish it all). The sauce bar was fully stocked, and the ingredients were fresh. The bowls and spoons were a bit hard to find though and I had to ask for a staff member for help. The fruit bar was a bit empty, but there was enough for a dessert. The wait staff was very friendly, though they kept forgetting to refill our water, and we kept asking them about it. Overall, a great experience!

The thing I've always liked about LaMei is that they always have fresh options. For AYCE the portions are pretty good. I wasn't expecting to get as much as I did for an order, so something to think about when placing orders. Sometimes you might get a couple of lonely mushrooms or 3 green leaves for a serving of Bok Choy. That was not the case here. The fish and meats were fresh and if you opt for the VIP option, there are appetizers included to nibble on while you cook your other stuff. You also get some more premium options and the hand pulled noodles had a nice chew to them. The service was good. They were efficient with cleaning plates as we used them and the food came out quickly. The sauce station has all the staples you'd expect to assemble your sauce. The AYCE option makes things a bit more affordable, but even if you don't use it, the fresh food will make it worthwhile.
