This is the second Thai restaurant I have tried in Salem with my Mom, and Sister. They were hoping I liked it here because they live in Salem. When they visit me in Eugene I take them to some pretty good places and this place couldn't touch any of them. The food wasn't bad, I am just spoiled I guess by our restaurants. I had the cashew chicken and was expecting something different. The veggies were basically raw and cut way too big for my for my liking. I almost ordered a whole new plate of food! I took bites of my sons kee mo, phad Thai, and Thai basil, which all were better than my dish. I normally would not order phad Thai because it's just too traditional and I like more flavor but this one wasn't bad as long as you add the peanut sauce to it. I might go back when visiting my Mom and sister, unless they find a better place as long as I don't order the cashew chicken again. That dish is a no, no!!! read more

Well, I just had the worst Thai food I've ever eaten. None of the dishes had any flavor! Even the peanut sauce was like tasteless gravey. My husband's shrimp fried rice only had 3 shrimp in the whole order, and the chicken in my "Thai Beer special noodles" seemed like it had been boiled without even bothering with salt. My wife and I have eaten here a lot. sorry they don't have the West Salem location any more. Food is always great - service is good. We don't make it over to Lancaster very much or we would eat there more. Highly recommend for anyone looking for good Thai - one of Salem's best. read more

Overall, the food is pretty good. My favorite is the spicy basil fried rice with ground pork, and it's the best that I've found locally. The curries are also great, but if you love Pad Thai, this isn't the place to order it as it will likely not taste anything like Pad Thai you've had from other restaurants. It tastes much more like an orange sauce than a peanut sauce. I haven't ordered the Pad Thai in a long time though, so this might not still be accurate. read more

The owner appeared to be yelling at her employees for trying to get us something close to what we ordered since they were out. The wait staff alternated between cleaning the floor and delivering food to tables WITHOUT HAND WASHING in between. 3 stars for the thai iced tea. It is as authentic as it can get. I been here a couple times. It is not that great. Customer service is lacking. Pretty slow service and food cooking. Bathrooms could use lots of remodeling and cleaning. The fried rice is delicious and to die for! It actually tastes like how it is suppose to. I had the fried tofu once. OMG.. never again will I order it. The tofu had a sour taste.., So if you can find the right dish, it is good, but chances are 80% are needing improvement. read more

This is our favorite Thai restaurant in town. It's usually not busy. Food is fast and delicious.

Excellent service, the menu was quite good. As a family we ordered about 3-4 different dishes to share, and my favorites were the duck curry, the pad Thai, and the chicken teriyaki. The food was good. This was my first time going to this particular restaurant but am not a stranger to Thai food. It was close to my house so I thought I'd try it. I was pleasantly surprised considering some reviews. I will go back again. I don't get why people rate restaurants 4 or 5 stars when the food was just "good" It really has to wow me in order to get a 4 or 5 star review. My friend and I split the Mango Chicken med spice. So good!! The customer service was better this time. Last time we were in we sat our selves down without waiting for the server to seat us and it was horrible! They ignored us and when I said something to the owner she said it was our own fault for not waiting to be sat down. To say the least I have not been back for a while!! This place has by far the worst Thai food I've ever eaten! Even I make better Thai dishes at home! The noodles in my pad thai order were not fully cooked, so they were a bit hard. In addition, the peanut sauce was watered down! I ate at this place prior to Yelping. And, I must say to learn that even non-Asian people disliking the food says a lot! Wow! Here's an underrated gem! I was a bit hesitant bases on the reviews, but hey when the kids want thai I'm happy to not cook. We ordered takeout tonight. Pad thai was very tasty, just a little on the dry side. Flavor was spot on. Yellow curry w chicken (medium) just right. Just enough heat to make your lips tingle. Cashew nut had a ton of crisp fresh veggies in a delicious broth. The waitstaff was very pleasant and answered all my questions. Prep time was average. Next time I'd call it in. Located in the same complex as Shopko, Waremart and Shari's Restaurant, Thai Beer offers tasty Thai food for a reasonable price. Their restaurant is nicely decorated and the staff are nice. They have a good selection of menu items as well as drinks like Thai ice tea and coffee. Worth a visit if you're in the mood for Thai cusine or looking for a place to try out in that part of town. read more

Delicious! Got an order to go, green curry w/ shrimp white rice. They were a little stingy with the shrimp, there was maybe 5. Also got the pad Thai w shrimp. Lots of shrimp! Very delicious! Both were very large portions, could easily eat that between 4 people. Will return. read more

It is ok. The Curry (Panang or Green) is pretty good. The Pad Thai is a 2.5 star at best, it has a weird pink tint almost like it has ketchup in it or something. Fresh rolls are not very good. Can't believe I was lucky enough to have a Thai place right next to me since I love Thai food and could eat it everyday. Unfortunately, the food and service is lacking. On the food front, I had the Chicken Pad Thai which is hard to really screw up but it was awful. The service was almost as bad. I used to swear by these people, I especially love their chicken salad with lemongrass. I ordered it and when I opened it for dinner I it was an entree of chicken with some vegetables. I called. The attitude was not customer friendly, more that they don't make a lemongrass chicken salad so I got the lemongrass chicken entree. Service was great, friendly, what you'd expect. The food however, is not Thai. I'm not sure what to call it, the closest thing that came to mind is sketti made by Mama June (Honey booboos mom). We ordered the Pad Thai and instead were served up a plate of noddles with ketchup and a few pieces of chicken mixed in. As you might imagine, it was not good. It's odd why they would do this and the only explanation I could think of is that they are not Thai, or not meant to be chefs. I was going to give this place a 5-star but I wasn't fully satisfied with my order of beef red curry. The flavor, spices and vegetables were really good. But I only got 2 small (about 1 x 1 inch), thinly sliced beef in my dish. There was so much vegetable but not reasonable portion of meat. Went to pick up food and checked order - rice was missing and sauce for the Tilapia dish was 1/2 full. When I got it home, the sauce was so salty I couldn't eat my meal. I ordered it hot for spice and there was no spice. I threw it in the garbage. We also ordered pad Thai that was so old that we also threw it in the garbage. Obviously this place changed hands since the last time I was there. The portions were smaller. The staff was confused and got our order mixed up. The food was mediocre at best and went from having the best Pad Kee Mow around to being something that I wouldn't order at a restaurant that I won't ever patronize again.
