I love this place! I live in the Bay Area, but grew up here, and every time I come visit I order delivery from Thai cafe. I know good food living in Bay Area, and maybe people in Redding aren't used to authentic food. It is so so good, and when you ask for spicy, they make it spicy! The salads are one of my favorites ; authentic with kafir lime and chile, shallots and shrimp. And the pumpkin curry and Penang curry are excellent. Also like the Evil prince. Sticky rice is on point. I have nothing bad to say-- maybe only criticism is green mango salad is not crunchy- a little soggy, but their other salads make up for it. First time eating here. I ordered the Evil Prince which unfortunately smelled and tasted like wet dog. My boyfriend liked it and ate it though. We shared the Chicken Satay which was yummy. I ordered the Pad Kra Pao; it was OK but I'm pretty sure they forgot salt. I don't think we'll be eating there again. read more

Okay, this is a tough one for me...I like the food and the service just fine and used to go there often, but the last time I was there, a cockroach climbed out of my lunch dates salad. But that wasn't the worst part. When we pointed out the cockroach to our server, he shrugged and acted like this happens all the time. I'm never going back. read more

Food is great, staff is awesome. I eat here at least once a week for lunch. Take out is the way to go, always ready within 15 min, no matter how busy they are. On the flip side, if you sit down and eat, plan on being there for at least 45 min. Love it no matter what though! read more

My husband and I go here often. I can't speak for a lot of their menu items, because I found a favorite quickly and I always get the seafood asparagus or the cho chi salmon (on the specials menu). They make it as spicy as you like, but when we took my mom there she ordered the "hot" and it was too hot for her to handle! My only frustration is that their mild is a little too mild for me and their medium is a little spicy for me (I'm a lightweight on spiciness). Very tasty. read more

This is the first restaurant I went to with my girlfriend, who had recommended we come here. This is hands down the most comfortable restaurant, with an extremely calm atmosphere. As for the food, you pay so little and you get so much, the food is always fresh. I've tried a variety of items on the menu and I have never been disappointed. i ordered pad param if i spelled correctly. it is perfectly cooked thin pieces chicken in a peanut butter sauce, served or a bed of perfectly cooked green beans and spinach. it comes with two big scoops of rice and a egg and roll similar to an egg roll. i could tell the food was fresh and prices reasonable. i also order this tea, it was delicious. i've only had it taste that good at a few places. my mom and dad had never tried the peanut butter chicken or this tea they both loved and plan to eat there. i walked in ordered and food was done within 10 minutes. read more

What I like most about this place is that, unlike some other Thai restaurants (especially in Redding), if you order "Thai hot" it is actually Thai hot--as in, I'm crying while I eat it, but in a good way. It was the first place I ever tried Thai food so I really didn't have an idea if it was "good" Thai food or not. Now that I have opened up more I tried Thai food from other places from all over, and nothing comes close to Thai Cafe. There is something special about the food there. Service is great! I went on a strong recommendation from a co-worker. Had dinner by myself. The place looks a bit like a dive, a hole in the wall kind of dive with Thai accents. The waitress was quick and friendly. The vegetable soup was ?chicken broth with cabbage. Not much to it. The Green Curry was more like coconut milk with a small bit of curry added. I was disappointed that the eggplant was regular old American eggplant, not Thai, or even Japanese eggplant. And it was overcooked. The rice was a bit dry. Ooohk. I love Redding, I love hole in the local wall joints, I love thai food. This place should get an easy A. Unfortunaltely, it was sub par. Went only once with a friend and the food was tastless! I ordered the pad kee mao (drunken noodles) which are hard to not love, but I could have been eating literally any other dish. Literally, I tried a couple of the other dishes friends had ordered. All the same. There wasn't a single flavor or spice in any of the dishes besides the mounds of onions they put on top. What a waste of money, I should have had a packet of oatmeal. Found this place out of the blue. Drove up to Redding for the Kool Nites festival and needed a good/filling dinner, saw this place close by the hotel and took a shot at it. The best part of my job is whenever I'm on the road I get to try new food and the best type of restaurants while on the road are the mom and pop places that remind you of home. Got the satay comb which came with pork chicken and beef skewers. For 10 bucks got 8 skewers a side dish of cucumber relish (the vinegar tasting thing) and the peanut sauce. Although the peanut sauce was a little too thick it was still tasty. My entree was the duck curry (red) and asked for it to be spicy and man did it have some kick! The perfect amount of spice without being too hot. The awesome part was that they give you bottomless rice which was clutch because a majority of my co workers got meat entree dishes. When you walk into this place it may seem a little intimidating with all the interior dealing but it's a nice quite joint where you can enjoy your meal. Thanks Thai cafe! read more

This food is still decent and maintains cheap prices, but it is not as amazing as it used to be. Still tasty, but more mediocre. It was one of the only Thai places open the day after Christmas, so we thought we would order some take out. I ordered Masaman Curry. The only things in it were beef, potatoes that were still raw, large chunks of onion and peanuts. The portion was small. The flavors were off. I have tried this same curry at 2 other Thai places and loved it. Usually there is a little sweetness with curry, but this tasted just like a lot of fish sauce with no other flavors present.
