Thai Corner Café is certainly pretty, with attractive décor. The restaurant was very clean, as well. There were a couple of tvs on and pleasant, mellow music playing. I tried the Thai Iced Tea. I loved the pretty painted Mason jar it came in. The tea was ok; however I didn't finish it as it wasn't my fave. The shrimp spring rolls were very fresh, but not flavorful and the peanut sauce was ok. The shrimp pad Thai was interesting, and was a generous serving. I felt tolerated by the server. She was civil, but not friendly. The same server was friendly with a couple of regulars that came in. I'm not sure about the parking situation. I parked on the street, so you may want to bring quarters (I believe the meters take credit cards too). read more

Five stars hands down! The salmon was very fresh about one day old at the most when I was here. I was supper happy with my sashimi salmon on a bed of rice with miso soup and cucumber salad. Wow! We found this place by accident and it was such a great find. This was my friend's first time trying Thai food and now he's absolutely in love. The red curry was just the right amount of spice and I loved the veggies (especially the bamboo shoots). The crispy garlic and pepper beef was amazing. Super flavorful and the meat was cooked perfectly. The dessert was a classic staple with perfectly ripe mango. We love the brown rice alternative! We will be coming back...again and again. read more

Just tried this place and I am impressed! As a person who has tried Thai food at almost every spot in Reno, this might be my new favorite. My family ordered fried egg rolls for an appetizer, and I generally think egg rolls are just ok, but I'm pretty sure these were homemade and so so SO delicious. Some of the BEST yellow curry I've ever had. It was a great consistency and I'd definitely recommend it with tofu! It could have been a bit spicier but glad they start mild so that you can build up the spice to your liking. The reason I gave them a 4 was because the pad thai wasn't the best I've ever had and the service was a tad slow even though the restaurant was fairly empty for lunch. Always an option for lunch downtown as their lunch menu is a great deal before 2pm. I either get chicken pad thai, Thai Cashew, or the fresh ginger plate. Though it's been around for nearly a decade, I just got around to checking out the Thai Corner Cafe. The layout and vibe is less cafe than "bar with food", with pub height tables, cozy two-seater booths, and a couple expansive "bring the whole gang" booths. There are just over 20 varieties of bottled beer--half of them imports, with no local producers represented. Brewed by Thailand's biggest beermaker, bottles of Singha lager ($9.45, 21oz) and Leo lager ($5.75, 11oz) were served with chilled pint glasses, both reminiscent of American mass-market brews. My younger dining companions chose bubble tea ($4.25 each), one mango, the other honeydew. I've never acquired a taste for the chewy boba balls, but they seemed satisfied with it. The food menu isn't huge, but has enough stir-fry, curries, and classic Thai dishes to choose from. It's impossible for me to make a first-time visit without ordering fresh spring rolls ($6.95, four pieces) and chicken satay ($8.95, four pieces), whereas the boys can't resist potstickers ($6.95, six pieces). The rice paper rolls were heavily stuffed with lettuce, vermicelli, carrot, cucumber, basil, cilantro, and shrimp, served with a whole lot of agreeably chunky peanut sauce. Large skewers of grilled, marinated chicken were served with just as much sauce, and a rice vinegar cucumber salad. The marinade was sweeter than expected, but worked with the goober goo. The chicken and veggie dumplings were on the small side, but served hot and crispy with a soy/ginger sauce. Though other dishes beckoned, I doubled-down on being predictable and ordered combo pad thai ($17.95), an exceptionally large serving of rice noodles stir-fried with tamarind sauce, onion, egg, bean sprout, chive, and plenty of chicken, pork, beef, and shrimp--crushed peanut on the side. The grilled meats had a nice bit of char, and the sauce was less sweet and better balanced than the last few examples I've been served. One lad's enormous platter of seafood fried rice ($21.95) was similarly impressive, loaded with egg, tomato, onion, pea, carrot, and a generous quantity of mussels, squid, shrimp, and scallops. Luckily, he was willing to share. A pair of normal-sized entrees rounded out the meal, each served with white rice. Strips of teriyaki pork ($12.95) were served with steamed broccoli and carrot, in a sauce that was more savory and slightly spicy than the syrupy stuff I associate with teriyaki. As a result, I think I enjoyed it more than the boy who ordered it. His mom went with spicy basil tofu ($12.95), large cubes of crispy bean curd fried up with bell pepper, onion, and mushroom in a spicy basil sauce. The tofu was still soft and pillowy on the inside, with the veg cut large and retaining a bit of crunch. The sauce was easily my favorite of the meal, just spicy enough to warrant use of the word, and almost overwhelmingly redolent with fresh Thai basil. All the main dishes can be ordered with a choice of proteins, but I'm glad my friend went vegetarian on this occasion. It's rare I find a tofu dish done well enough I'd order it again. All in all, we had a fun evening. Service was excellent, and any place with both great spring rolls and decent pad thai will keep me coming back for more. read more

Came here just for the thai tea, which was really good! If you go, I recommend getting it without boba. They tend to overcook it making it way too soft. It was more of a jelly texture than a chewy boba type. Still not bad! It is a bit pricey too compared to actual boba shops. read more

I went to this restaurant with my parents on 1/24/23. We just arrived Reno from San Francisco that day. The waitresses were friendly. The one took orders for us recommended three different places for us. We ordered a yellow curry chicken rice plate, a beef rice plate and a Combo Pad Thai plate. I was looking for something different to ear in Reno and I stumbled into this restaurant. It was clean, sunny and bright. Wood trim and ceiling fans make you forget you are downtown Reno. The food was good. Not the best Thai that I have had but I live in the Bay Area so my standards are high. But it was 10 times better than I expected. I will definitely go again. They also sell Boba Tea!!! They take credit cards but you should probably bring cash. I didn't have difficulty paying with my card a different table tried to split a 4 person check on three cards and that didn't go well. But to the restaurant's defense I've rarely seen that work out well. There is also Century Movie down the street. read more

We chose Thai Corner cafe for dinner as it was within walking distance from the Siena where my parents were staying. The bar right next door has the exact same outside facade as Thai Corner, so we initially walked right past it while looking for the entrance. The entrance to the restaurant is on the side of the building (on Sierra St. rather than on 2nd Street). Anyway, luckily there's a huge sliding door that connects the bar to the restaurant. We met my parents inside on a Monday night at about 7:30. The place was pretty empty, so the servers were pretty much focused on us. My parents had already ordered their drinks and we got ours placed and received quickly. My dad ordered several sushi rolls as his entree and to share with the table. I didn't try any of these because me and sushi don't get along anymore. Everyone seemed happy with them. My mom and boyfriend both got panang curry and I got shrimp pad thai. The couple of bites of curry I had were awesome and it's a contender for my order for the next time. The pad thai was great too. The serving size was just right, and I only had a small portion to take home (which I unfortunately forgot about in my fridge :/ ) I can't comment on the cost of the meal because it my parents' treat. But, overall, it was an enjoyable experience and a place I will consider returning to. Oh, one more thing, we parked in the parking garage and asked our waitress if they validated parking. She told us the parking on the street was free. So, I take it that they don't validate for the garage? read more

Stopped to pick up an anniversary dinner for my husband and I. Craving Thai food and had a Groupon to try this restaurant. I thought the bill was a little pricey for the three dishes I ordered. Shrimp Pad Thai, Chicken Rad Nah and Chicken Panang. The total was $46.95. I don't mind spending the money; but, it better be blow my mind good. I have to say I don't like Pad Thai, but I Liked their Pad Thai because it was not that sweet and tasted like the Pad Thai I have had in Thailand. I think the price of 15.95 is a little high the Pad Thai. I ordered the Panang and it came in a very small plastic container, about pint size. The Rad Nah portion was good, but both the Panang and Rad Nah didn't have much flavor. Very suprising for Thai food! I did enjoy the pickled Thai bird chilies they packed with the meal. That is very authentic Thai condiment. It really helped to spice up the meal and those little chilis pack a punch. Overall the food is decent, but I wouldn't say that it blew my mind. read more

Stopped in here to check this place out during a beer crawl . Normally we aren't Thai food fans. In fact we had never been into a Thai restaurant . Well we weren't here to eat but we did end up ordering some pot stickers off the crawl menu, they were very good , and my wife also liked them. They did have only a couple draft beers for the crawl, and we ended up picking Sapporo beer , which they charged 2 dollars instead of 1. I would stop in here again during a crawl for a quick snack and a beer, I'm not too sure how adventurous we would get on this menu. Don't advertise your restaurant on Groupon to tell your paying customers that we're cheating your owners... As a first time customer and LAST I felt down played. I told Alyssa that I have Groupon and she took 2 other parties and a phone order before taking my order. The person ahead of me who also was also paying with Groupon made my experience uncomfortable and awkward... Not that it's his fault, the behavior of Alyssa was unacceptable. After taking my order she told me that she had to ask her manager if she can accept my order (another Groupon). She then tells me and the other patron paying with Groupon that "WE'RE BREAKING HER HEART CAUSE WERE CHEATING THE OWNER..." "We're not making any money... " "Advertising on Groupon was to attract locals... Wasn't intended to attract tourists." Wow. Im speechless. I love this place and prob go weekly. i'm gf and they are super understanding of dietary restrictions so i've never gotten sick. my roommate is vegan and they always get our order correct. portions are so big we can usually share. best thai in all of reno hands down. i recommend the pad thai or the green curry i've had both & their so good. read more

Some of the worst service I've ever experienced, asked for my check 3 times because I had to leave. It was a week day, at lunch time and it wasn't very busy. Waitress was in the back doing side jobs, filling condiments and cleaning up. She was angered that I got up from my table and asked for my check again when we made eye-contact then made an irritated face and stormed to the back. Hostess claimed she couldn't check out people. Literally waited 30 minutes in an empty restaurant and the food was terrible and flavorless. Most watered down pad Thai I've ever had. The chicken satay is excellent, and the peanut sauce and cucumber salad that accompany it are scrumptious. Their chicken pad Thai is almost dry, but packed with flavor. Due to this unique phenomenon, it is the best pad Thai I've had in a very long time, if not ever. Their yellow curry was good, but I'm not a huge fan of curry so I probably wouldn't order it again. The staff was super accommodating to my two year old, so I definitely recommend checking them out if you have small children. read more

I love Thai food and we picked the perfect place to enjoy our Thai dinner. The service was great, the food was delicious and the staff was super friendly. There were a mixture of people who filled the tables all around us. A couple on their first date, a group of old friends enjoying drinks, a few fit ladies enjoying the healthy spring rolls and us, a family of five. Our food was so fragrant and bursted with flavor. Coconut, basil, garlic and chile. We left a happy family. I still have so many places to visit in and around Reno but I will be back to Thai Corner Cafe. read more
