For the price (ranging between $9 to $11), there a good amount of food (including a free drink, soup, and salad). However, the quality of the dishes were mediocre. If this could be rated 2.5 starts, we would. Stumbled upon this place as it used to be a Sìchun restaurant and to my surprise there was a sign that read Thai food... so I gave it a shot. I have waited to review this place until I have given it a few tries. My first trip was when we saw it turned to a thai restaurant me and a few co-workers ventured in for lunch, the decore, furniture, etc were exactly the same as the Sìchun it had replaced, almost like the past owner gave them everything.. The lunch deal was great, if I recall we paid around $10.00 for soup, salad, and dish, plus thai ice-tea or coffee. The food is served on the typical Ameri-Thai scale of 1-10 and I always ask for the 10 - the food was good but not what I call knockout thai food.. Nothing like the stuff I get in south-east asia.. but for Lake Forest its not bad.. My Second trip I brought the wife and kids and a few friends.. this time we tried allot of the dishes so we could get a good feel for the place. The "Crying Tiger" was awesome and reminded me of the "Crying Tiger" that was served at the old "Taste-Thai" when it was owned by the old couple 8 years ago. Again I ordered my dishes 10's but I would put them on the Ameri-Thai scale at 5's at best.. The third trip was just last week, and I went crazy and ordered the Basil Beef #20 - the waitress looked at me like I was crazy - when the food came the spice was nice lots of chili and peppers but it was not what I was looking for, I can handle the heat, thats not the problem.... it all needs to be balanced out with fish sauces, spice, and heat.. cooking food and then dumping a pile of chili on it at the end only gets one of those goals. For what its worth I would come back as the "Crying Tiger" is great which my wife loves and you know what they say "Happy wife, Happy life" and also my Fav. Thai place in the LF area "Thai-Taste" has become to popular for a lunch time romp in to the spicy land.. the food here is good and the service is good as well so for lunch you can count me in. read more

I'll be honest and say that the closest I've come to eating any sort of traditional Asian cuisine has been either Panda, Stix, or Yoshinoya... Sort of close, but in no way traditional. When it comes to Thai food, more specifically traditional Thai food, I'm a complete novice which is why I was so interested in dining at Thai Corner. Thai Corner serves up the finest authentic Thai food in the area with exciting dishes and a unique ambiance. It's a small little restaurant, located right on the corner in the Stater Bros Shopping center, with a wonderful atmosphere that creates a truly enjoyable dining experience... I first walked in at the end of their lunch hours and was greeted very warmly. The folks who run the restaurant are just about the nicest people you will come across... I explained that I had no idea what to get because I've never eaten Thai food before and it was suggested that I try their curry. I believe I had the Yellow Chicken Curry, made with fresh chicken, potatoes, onions and carrots simmered in their special yellow curry sauce with rich coconut milk. It sounded outstanding but got it to go because they were about to close shop in preparation for their dinner service later in the evening. The curry was unbelievably good. It's a must have if you're a fan of curry. The lunch special I got came with white rice and a small salad with Thai dressing... There was also a sweet pastry dessert that I didn't know the name of and have never tasted before that was outstanding, and they gave me a free drink that I also didn't know the name of but tasted like an orange rice milk and tea; all of it was out of this world! My second time in I tried the Chicken Satay made with marinated chicken in a mixture of spices and served with peanut sauce and cucumber salad. Unreal! Their menus is huge and I intend to try as much of it as I possibly can... It's a great little place for lunch, dinner, or in my case take-out, with a real mom and pop feel and independent flair... Came here based on the Yelp reviews. This restaurant had the "best" ratings for the area. It was ok. A lot of construction on the exterior of this strip mall, so it was a little chaotic to get to with all of the scaffoldings, etc. When we walked in, we were told that we could not have a table because there was only 2 of us. They sat us against the wall that had bench seating. However, the bench had an uncomfortable "lip"/molding/decoration and the mats were missing because they were being cleaned (?). My husband couldn't handle the discomfort for an entire meal, so we asked to be moved. They let us sit in a tiny table that was close to your neighbor. Ok. What we ordered... Thai iced coffee...complimentary & good Rice porridge...complimentary & decent Yellow chicken curry lunch special-the salad was meager as stated in other Yelp reviews. Iceberg lettuce with slivers of carrot shavings...not worth the effort. The curry was really nice, but the chicken did not have the rich flavors of the curry infused in it. Tasted like it was thrown in at the last minute. Could've been a little more tender. Crying tiger-my husband really enjoyed this. It was better than it's peers at other local Thai restaurants. This dish has never been my favorite. Tasted like a kalbi-imposter. I'm sure every Asian culture has their own version of soy marinated meat, but this one seems to scream "faker" to me. Decent place but expensive. I've gotten the pad thai here twice. Drives me nuts (no pun intended) that they don't put peanuts in it. That is an absolute critical ingredient!! Funny thing is, the menu says it has peanuts, but they never put them on and their excuse is that "some people are allergic". WHAT??? So you don't even ask if I want them?? It's absurd that nobody gets peanuts in their pad thai, just because one half of one percent of the population has a peanut allergy. Clean restaurant I came with a friend around 2 pm on a Tuesday afternoon had the pad pinkow with chicken got mushrooms instead of peppers and onion. The spice was flavorful and I ordered the brown rice $2 more which was a little over cooked. The Thai iced tea was good nothing special box flavor. Very friendly service here. Ordered the Crying Tiger and the BBQ Chicken with fried rice for dinner. Generous portions, good value for your money. They have a cheap lunch menu as well. I'm not sure about the portions since I was there at dinner time. Being a guy, I don't get too picky on decorations or ambiance although I do notice. I go to a restaurant for the food but it wasn't badly decorated, they had some mismatching chairs but overall, the place is decorated good enough. This is just mediocre thai food. I ordered my usual go to thai dishes and nothing really stood out for me. Just meh. In addition its pricy for dinner. We spent $80+ for 4 entrees, few thai iced teas, and mango sticky rice dessert. The sticky rice was mushy and not fresh. They do have good thai tea. This restaurant is probably the best. The Thai food they serve is delicious and fresh tasting. The dish we liked the most was the Tom nom soup. I loveeeeeee this thai place! I completely forgot about this hidden gem! My brother and I used to all the time with our significant others. I'm so glad they survived through covid. I'm actually pretty picky with Thai food and this place has such amazing flavor and texture. I remember the crying tiger was also always my go-to. Some places make it too salty, but this place is just right. Tender, juicy and the sauce is *drooling*. I ordered the pad thai today and the noodles are perfectly chewy and firm, just perfect. The flavor was also authentic and yum yums!! My sister got the red curry, also really flavorful and delicious. At one point she looked at me and said "I'm full, but I can't stop eating" same. OH don't forget to try the Thai tea! Soooooo rich and creamy and 10/10 worth it even if youre lactose intolerant like me. I was able to meet the owner of the restaurant and she was extremely sweet and so excited for us to try her food, she also let me know that she and her children own and run the restaurant. We ordered some pad Thai and the pineapple curry and everything was so delicious and prepared really quickly. The curry was full of flavor and spice but not too spicy and the pad Thai was also full of flavor. Amazing food, amazing service and such a cute ambiance. This place is definitely a Thai restaurant that's very much under the radar. They have great lunch and dinner specials. For both you have an option of getting a Thai tea or coffee, soup, an appetizer and an entree for a really good price. I was there for dinner time so I chose Thai coffee with Tom Ka soup, chicken satay for my appetizer, and lastly the Pad Se Ew with chicken. It was definitely a whole lot of food for one person so I did take the half the entree home with me. The Tom Ka soup was rich and tasty! Chicken satay was nicely charred and the peanut sauce was very good along side it. The Pad Se Ew is the thick noodles that come with chicken. You can chose tofu, sea food pork or beef with it. The noodles were nice and chewy, not mushy which is not how I would have wanted mine. The lady working was very nice even though she was getting swamped with phone orders and take outs. Bit skeptical as there are no folks in line; however it is close to closing time when we arrived. Despite of that, we ordered some pad Thai and Tom yum soup. The food was quickly made and got it to go. We ate it outside as we we're starving. We're super impressed that the taste, quality and quantity were excellent. They gave so much shrimp which I love!
