I genuinely do not understand how this place has so many high ratings. Not a single item we ordered was enjoyable or appetizing. Spicy Basil Ground Chicken: Completely lacked flavor. Instead of a traditional Thai basil entrée, it was mostly huge, chunky vegetables sitting in a thin, watered-down spicy liquid. Shrimp Spring Rolls: The seafood did not taste fresh or right at all. I felt nauseous after taking a few bites, and we ended up having to throw the rest away. Dipping Sauces: The peanut sauce was practically thin, brown water. On top of that, they included a strange green watery liquid that I've never seen served with spring rolls before. Rice: you can't really mess this up and why i gave it the one star. I had to stop eating entirely to avoid feeling any worse. Honestly, I would have been much happier grabbing fast food instead. Thai Garden is located in the Foothill Plaza, at the corner of Portola Pkwy and Glenn Ranch Road, next to the Marriott Courtyard and Orange theory Fitness. It is a Thai oasis to enjoy Thai food in a relaxed surroundings. I discovered today that all entrees, fried rice/noodles are available as lunch specials, i.e. with free soup. The soup of the day today is Thai noodle soup. I could kick myself for not having it before for it is amazing. I would come back on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays for the Thai noodle soup if nothing else. I was thinking about drunken noodles earlier but ordered the spicy eggplant instead. It's been a while since we last dined here due to my very last order that we weren't happy with. We wanted Thai food but due to time constraints, we went to Thai Garden as it was the closest. The restaurant is still as nice and clean as when they first opened. One of the workers here, I forget his name, has been here for a very long time. He recognized my husband even after our long absence. That was actually cool to be remembered. He was his usual friendly self. Our server and other team members were very attentive throughout our dining experience. What we ordered this time: 1) Pad-see-ew with tofu - we always have to order this with extra noodles because they don't give you very much in comparison to other restaurants. They're more generous with the protein and veggies. The noodles were delicious, however, I wish they wouldn't charge an extra $8.00 for the extra noodles. As you can see in my photo, it doesn't look like extra noodles. It just looks like the portion other restaurants give without the extra fee. 2) Panang curry with pork - the sauce was amazing as usual but the pork was a bit on the dry side 3) crying tiger - delicious and tender as always 4) Larb - I didn't order it this time but this is a go-to here. 5) papaya salad - another dish I didn't order this time around but is a must-have for me. Overall it's more like a 3.5 out of 5 for me due to the dry pork and the fee for extra noodles, but since I can't do 1/2 points, let's just do a 4. Thai Garden is a quaint restaurant in Foothill Ranch that is a bit of a treasure. Not fancy, but simple and clean. We visited with our soccer family at the request of my son to have Thai food. I personally look at not only the ratings but the pics of the food in order to determine if we should go to a place - this had some good pictures that looked enticing. But after eating there, the original pics did not do this place justice. We ordered the shrimp and veggie spring rolls, bamboo shoots veggie dish, beef satay, chicken pad Thai, and a pad see ew. That was last night - it's morning and I'm still thinking about the yummy flavors in my mouth! The spring rolls were good - well wrapped and filled with a perfectly made peanut sauce to dip it in. The bamboo shoots dish came with a plethora of vegetables and was mildly to moderately spicy in a good way. My favorites were definitely the beef satay which was cool to perfection and the pad Thai - very well done - and I've been eating at different Thai places since I was a teenager! The noodles were on point with the texture, the flavor was saturated throughout every bite, so yummy! I did not try the pad see ew but it looked really good. Love the quantity given and the high quality of the food. Our meals fed three very hungry JV soccer players and four famished parents. Our waitress/server was very attentive, friendly, and smiling with a welcoming air that made us feel like we were eating at her home. Loved it and we are definitely returning! Worst experience and bad customer service. Quality of food has gone down. First, we didn't get the food which we ordered for 40 mins. Was given an rushed excuse when we asked and was told our order was given to wrong table after all the other tables got the food. Our entrees were below par - Pa Nang tasted salty and sour, Drunken noodle had no flavour and Spicy curry noodles was too oily and spices weren't mixed properly. We asked the waiter if our order had been rushed and gave honest feedback about our experience. Instead of listening, he kept denying it, saying everything was fantastic, and seemed adamant about proving us wrong. We only wanted them to take customer feedback seriously, but he started creating a scene, so we just paid the bill and left. Never going to visit this restaurant again. We came across Thai garden and ordered a couple tradition dishes like pad thai, fried rice and spring rolls. Everything was delicious! We heard the crying tiger was their speciality so we decided to come back to try it and I'm so happy we did because that meat was so juicy and tender and the flavor was amazing! We loved it! I've been searching for some good Thai food near my work so I stopped in to try out for lunch. I was seated immediately and service was pretty quick to come back and take my order. I ordered the lunch special with chow mein and she seemed a little confused as to what I was ordering so I thought I was ordering wrong? Not sure, but the menu for lunch specials is very confusing. And not well written. Each page has their specifications for the lunch special so I thought mine came with soup, salad, and rice, but it only came with soup.
