Unfortunately for being the top Thai Food choice in the area on Yelp I found this place to be less than. There were just a few people in the restaurant-that should have told me something as it was a Friday night. However we love to support local businesses so we decided to give it a try. We ordered the Chicken Pad Thai and Spicy Beef fried Rice. Both dishes were lacking in true Thai flavor. The Pad Thai's noodles were predominantly all congealed together, with about a half of a sliced up chicken breast(if that) , 5 crushed up baby peanuts and one sliver of green onion. The spicy rice was also not to be desired in true Thai fashion. It was too oily and meager portions of beef, especially since their prices were a bit inflated considering the portion of what you got. I think $14 for the Pad Thai and $17 for the rice. I did like the hot sauce on the side, good flavor to it. It helped a touch. To bad this place wasn't a hit for us. We would have been regulars since we love Thai Food and have it quite regularly. We are often in the Lake Forest area as well. Oh well back to Fountain Valley. read more

Food isn't great here. Stay away!! If you want more spice and more of better quality meat go to Banana bay. My boyfriend and I came here forgetting not to come here again knowing the food was terrible. We filled up and I feel gross from overeating food that wasn't great but I had to since I was hungry. I asked for the spicy basil. They have a spice lvl you can adjust. My spice tolerance is very high so different places they have their own. So I went with 8/10. I could not taste the spice. My boyfriend who is very low on spice tolerance said it felt like a 1. Our food came out to $50+ this isn't worth that much. It was a waste of money Pros: quiet, the service is alright. Great thai food at a great price! I did not know of this place. Kind of a hole in the wall spot in the shopping center, I was happily pleased by the quality of food and service this place had to offer. I had to try their pad see ew and drunken tiger dish. Wow! the steak in the drunken tiger dish was cooked and season perfectly. It was served with a lemon sauce that really complimented the steak. The pad see ew was also delicious. Not too greasy and the broccoli was not over cooked. The portions also were pretty large; really great value. Customer service was great. Servers often checked on us and made sure our food was ok and that our water was never empty. I highly recommend this place anyone local in Lake Forest craving Thai food. Good Thai food here in the area without needing to go to Thai Town. There are Thai people working here and the dishes and fish sauce tasted authentic and tasty. We tried fried rice and pad kee mao to test the waters and we ate it all. I would like to come again and try other Thai staple dishes. The 4 stars instead of 5 was due to slow/inattentive service. The restaurant was not very crowded but it took a very long time to receive water. They also didn't notify us of the dinner special that's available. By the way, they also have a lunch special so do inquire if you're not told about it. For taste, this was great, the service could have been better. My girlfriend has been dying to bring me here for the longest time. I've taken her to Twisted Noodle and she swore that Thai Corner was better. Well, after a frustrating lunch at Twisted Noodle last Thursday, and having my Thai cravings not satisfied, I decided to take a long lunch on Friday and make my way up to Thai Corner. Food here was delicious! Free Thai tea or coffee is a nice touch because let's face it, we all love getting free things. My girlfriend and I shared their pad see ew and crying tiger. Both delicious. Crying tiger was super tender and delicious. Not as spicy as I liked but delicious nonetheless. Lunch portions seemed kind of small when first brought out, but after leaving with a full belly, I thought it was perfect size. At the end of the meal, a little old lady from the kitchen made her way around the restaurant to check on everyone's meal. The nicest little lady! She was excited that it was our first time their and gave us suggestions for when we come back. She noticed that we ordered their coffee instead of tea and decided that we must try their tea because it was apparently, that damn good. She sent us on our way with a to-go cup of Thai tea. Thank you! It's service like that that makes me happy. It's totally foreign territory for an establishment like this to care so much about their patrons and she really took it up a notch. One of our friends had just had dinner at this restaurant and was raving about what great food they had. She brought us a menu and it looked good, so we thought we'd check it out. I was impressed by how hard the employees were working at this restaurant with a limited staff on a weekday night. They were quite busy with many of the tables in the restaurant occupied and lots of to go orders being picked up. There are many lunch and dinner specials available on the menu but we decided to order a la carte, family style. We ordered the crying tiger which is marinated grilled beef on a bed of lettuce with a spicy lime sauce for drizzling -- very tasty. We also got the spicy fried rice with chicken which was very aromatic with chile garlic and Thai basil. I also ordered my favorite pad see ew with beef. So good. One of my favorite Thai dishes and this was my favorite of the three things we ordered. Prepared so well. Homemade condiments on the table can really amp up the level of spiciness of your food if you wish to make things spicier. I went a little crazy with some of the chile sauce and basically had to mix three portions of spicy fried rice into it to calm it back down a bit. Portions are very generous here and prices really reasonable. We had plenty of food to take home. Our waitress was very attentive and very nice. Thai Corner, I feel it was very hyped up for me. I've heard from others that this place was good, but it is only A-OK for me (also I maybe biased because I am very picky when it comes to Thai food). I did not get a chance to dine-in, but did to-go for lunch. Parking: In front or on the side of the restaurant. Also, you can park at the plaza and just walk to the restaurant. Service: I ordered on the phone and did not realized that they were closed for break time. However, the girl on the phone was very nice and took my order. I really liked that she made sure with me that it was okay that my food would not be ready until the cook came back. Once I came in to pick up my food, the workers were very friendly! They welcome you right away into the restaurant with big smiles. Decor: There are tables throughout the restaurant to dine-in. The restaurant is decorated with Thai culture. Food and drink that I ordered: Pad Thai Beef - I thought it was okay and I needed to add like chili sauce to make it taste better Thai Tea - it was okay because the combination of the mix of milk and tea was not quite there. I'm just going to update this to five stars because the ladies who work here are just so nice. The little one who seems to be the owner/chef comes walking around to ask you if everything is okay. She is just so sweet! I've recently had the Crying Tiger, which is super yummy. The beef is so tender and comes with a delightful sauce. The dish came with the most perfectly fried cream cheese wonton. I usually don't like these at other restaurants as they are greasy and have a tiny pea sized amount of cream cheese. Not here, I can actually palate the thing and enjoy it! I've also recently had the Eggplant basil with chicken. It's just like the chicken basil, but with eggplant. I have no idea how to cook eggplant myself, so I really enjoy it thai style. Best of all, the price always comes out to less than $10 for what you get. I mean, it was like $7.50. Just a tip, they don't take credit cards under $10 without charging a $.50 fee. Luckily I had cash in my car and ran out to get it. Oh man, this place is the best Thai food I've found in the O.C. so far. Definitely not the best Thai food I've ever had but it'd be unfair to compare since I've been to Thailand a few times. Tried their lunch specials of the crying tiger and the pad see ew. I wish their portions were a little bigger (got take out), but maybe they just fit what fits in the takeout box. But the portions are still pretty good. Not enough to leave you super full but not skimpy enough to leave you still feeling hungry. Thai Corner is less than a mile from my place and I've had it on my "go-to" list for a few months now. Finally made it in yesterday for lunch and I'm so glad I finally gave this place a try! I was in the mood for a spicy rice and beef dish, so I ordered the Spicy Fried Rice with beef dish. Two thumbs up. I did add some more of their spicy seasoning that they had on the table, which made the dish go from a mild spicy to very hot. Love! Rice was cooked just right with just the right amount of flavors added to it. Beef was tender and yummy. There was a few veggies thrown in too, but not enough to make them stand out to me. Very good dish and I'm happy that I ordered it. After looking at the menu, I found at least three other dishes I want to try, so you know I'll be back! Service was excellent. Our server kept coming out to refill our water and asked how everything was. She asked how we found out about Thai Corner, and when I said "I heard about you on Yelp", she got really excited and told me everything she knew about the restaurant and the food. She was really nice. Two thumbs up for service too! Overall, this place is awesome and I'll be making this place one of my normal stops now for food. WOW, the Thai food is amazing here! This is a gem of a restaurant that you would miss out on if someone didn't tell you about it. The restaurant itself seems like a small, family-owned place, but it's not a hole-in-the-wall...there is some formality to the atmosphere and decor, so you can definitely come here on a casual dinner date. We tried the Crying Tiger (extra spicy lime sauce) and the chicken Pad See Ew. Both dishes were absolutely delicious, and super affordable at about $9.95 per dish. The service was good and our dishes came out quickly, and we were checked on frequently. The restaurant is located in a small shopping plaza that doesn't look like it gets a lot of business on nights and weekends, but there was still a decent amount of people eating in the restaurant when we came on a Saturday night. That must speak to the quality of the food, since people are making the trek out to a vacant shopping plaza on a Saturday night just for Thai Corner. CHICKEN LAHB We ask for very spicy .. like 10 .. and it can kick you in the ass, but not kill you. I love the lahb here. It's really refreshing, and comes with a fresh head of cabbage to use as your spoon. I get the chicken lahb. I was surprised that the lahb is actually hot. In Thailand, they come out cold, but I don't mind the heat. It's still refreshing and when you refrigerate it, still tastes great the next day. GREEN CURRY I love love this dish. I love it when I make great discoveries through Yelp! This place is absolutely amazing. I think I just found my go-to place for thai food! I came here with two other people last night for dinner. They have this $14.99 special which comes with a drink, choice of soup, choice of appetizer, and choice of a main dish. I loveeee thai iced tea, so of course I selected that as my drink - bombbb! I wish they gave me more though - half my cup was filled with ice. For the soup, I had the tum kuh gai... or something like that. It's a coconut-based soup with mushrooms and chicken. The flavor of the soup was soooo good - a bit spicy but with a creamy coconut flavor. I loved it! Since there were three of us, we each got a different appetizer so we could each try everything. The chicken satay was cooked to perfection and came with a creamy peanut sauce and chopped veggies - delicious! The egg rolls and creme cheese wontons were just as amazing! We each got something different for the main dish also. The garlic lover chicken was pretty spicy, but delicious! I forgot the dish my friend got... but it was like a pat see ew with chicken - yummm! But my favorite was the chicken yellow curry. The three of us devoured the entire thing so fast! So I thought about ordering a bowl of steamed rice to mix it in and reduce the taste of the sauce. Instead, I ordered a "combo fried rice" to do the same thing (and give me something to eat tomorrow). They charged $14.00, the most expensive lousy fried rice I ever had. I went to lunch with my co-workers, one of our orders got screwed up; J. very simple he just takes what ever dish they drop on our table/ mistake by the waitress. We came back for dinner a few weeks later, my friend ordered a spring roll, turned out it's a deep fried "chinese style" eggs roll--WTF?! I asked the lady with the hair net and she said you should order summer rolls, that one is not fried. Argh! Their Pad Kee Mow with chicken is just boring. I had to poor in a lot of chili sauce to make the dish more exciting. I could barely see the chicken--I thought they gave me the vegetarian, so much cabbage and bell pepper, green beans, and bean sprouts! But barely any basil! Fed up with how they made two good basic main dishes, I give them another try last week. This time the Thai ice tea had too much milk, tasted funny and was not sweet. Just okay. What happen to the drink from the beginning?! Who ruined the best of it ???!!! But when it came to the combo chicken chow mein, things got worse. It's a little hard to find at first, but it's literally at the left corner of the center.... guess I should have taken the hint haha. The food here is solid. Huge menu with lots of options, including veggie friendly which is great (I mean... if I didn't love meat, or something). We've ordered the Thai Basil Chicken, Spicy Drunken Thai Spaghetti, Crispy Tofu and the Pad Thai. Aside from the Pad Thai which was just ok, everything is really flavorful and definitely spicy enough - call me a baby but at level 7 spiciness, the tears started showing up. Ambiance is nicely casual with plenty of seating since I've never seen it packed at lunch or dinner. Prices are pretty good too, but like other yelpers I wish it didn't take sooooo long to get our food. The service is always friendly but I'm pretty sure they have to find the chicken or cow, kill it, and then cook it because waiting time from ordering to eating is an actual 20-25 minute minimum. Great little Thai spot located in a somewhat barren shopping center in Lake Forest. My husband and I have been here several times, and we are impressed with this family run business. Doesn't look like much outside, but inside is quite nice. Their steak quality is great-try their Crying Tiger with the YUMMY lime sauce and I promise you will not be disappointed-the steak has a nice char to it, which balances the subtle sweetness of the dipping sauce. I like that they offer brown rice as a substitution (for an extra $1) as white rice isn't on my current diet. Their basil chicken is super yummy, with fresh vegetables. The wife and brother in law joined me in our adventure to find good Thai food so we decided to try everything family style. A lot of reviews mentioned huge portions, but these were barely enough. Maybe we're all just fat bastards. We had green curry with chicken, pad thai, and crying tiger. Again, we tried it all family style and we ended up order some pad see ew as well to fill our stomachs. Service was a bit lacking was we continually had to request refills on water. Overall this place might have been good a while back, but it appears quality might have dropped a bit. Since our visit we've been to a couple of other Thai places in the area and there is more bang for the buck to be had elsewhere. Solid Thai food in Lake Forest. I've been in here a number of different times, sometimes dine-in, others for take-out. They have a bar you can sit at while waiting on to-go orders, plus they have two large screen TV's on the wall. Nice decor on the walls imported from Thailand. Staff is friendly, welcoming. If you come in often they'll quickly start to recognize you. Most dishes you can choose the meat you want, shrimp, chicken, beef or tofu. My favorite dishes here so far have been the following: Spicy beef salad - as it's name suggest, it's spicy. Typical dish, and had a lot of steak Pad wood sen - stir fried glass noodles with egg, tomato and meat. One of my favorites and one order is more than enough for one person. Mixed vegetables - when I'm looking for a light dinner, i'll order this with tofu. Nice mix of vegetables and fried tofu. Pad pik pow - another favorite. Spicy if you order it so. Baby corn and mushrooms - nice quantity of baby corn and they cook it so they retain some of their crispness. I'm not so much a fan of: BBQ chicken - tried it one night and it was a bit dry, felt overcooked. Hormok talay - more because I didn't care for the sauce than anything else. It's served in a pot or bowl and covered in sauce. Note, their spice scale of 1-10 isn't watered down because of the neighborhood. If you order a 7 or 8, it will be spicy. Hubby and I don't typically eat a lot of Thai food but somehow one evening, it sounded like a great idea. We came here because the chef at Zen Sushi (a huge fan of Thai food) told us he liked this place. If you aren't familiar with the area, it's in a non-descript strip mall with a Stater Bro's and Chipotle. However, it's at the corner...get it? Thai Corner? :) It wasn't busy when we walked it around 8pm. We were quickly greeted and seated. First impression: Dead rose in their bud vase. Bummer. We over-ordered as we usually do when we go somewhere for the first time, getting the larb, crying tiger (which inexplicably takes 20 minutes to make), spicy bamboo with tofu, thai spaghetti and the tom kah gai (coconut soup with chicken). Overall, the food taste was average to slightly above average. We enjoyed the larb (pork) and the tom kah gai. The flavor of the Thai spaghetti was good except there wasn't so much noodles than onions, bell peppers and carrots. The noodles also looked and felt like the instant ramen variety. Hubby definitely liked this dish better than I did. The soup was good except the sterno/pot combo thing doesn't work so well with the too-big ladle they give you. So it takes forever to serve the soup and in the end it got so annoying that we just waited for the flame to die out and tilted the whole thing. The spicy bamboo w/ tofu was just ok. The tofu didn't taste entirely fresh so we didn't end up eating much of this dish. Again, there really was more of the onion/bell pepper mix than the tofu and bamboo. The Crying Tiger was presented last (it's a salad). The beef on it was really tasty but it was served on nothing but a huge bed of shredded iceberg lettuce. We were too stuff to eat much of this but agreed the beef alone was delicious. Though we don't consider ourselves Thai food experts, we've had better elsewhere...so maybe 3-3.5 stars. read more
