    Chicken Satay
    Andrew K.

I have another recommended choice for those who want to experience the vibrant flavors of Thai cuisine. Thai Country Restaurant in Clovis is renowned for its flavorful Thai, Laotian, and Chinese dishes, with excellent food quality. Patrons of this popular lunch spot rave about the pad thai, drunken noodle, Mongolian beef, chicken satay, and Thai curry dishes. I can attest to the freshness, vibrant colors, and complex flavors of Thai food, as represented in the dishes I have tried, along with a couple of Chinese dishes. The chicken satay was flavorful, tender, perfectly grilled, and served with a dilled cucumber salad and a rich, creamy peanut sauce. The satay had an amazing aroma and was plump and juicy. The pad prik king with beef featured green beans perfectly stir-fried with a spicy red curry paste and tender, flavorful beef flank steak. The half entree to-go is served over jasmine rice to balance the bold flavors of the curry and meat. The cashew chicken, a staple at many Chinese-American restaurants, is stir-fried with onions, peppers, and carrots in a savory sauce made from a combination of soy sauce and oyster sauce. The blend of sauces offered a combination of saltiness, complex savoriness, and subtle sweetness notes, which enhanced the overall taste of the dish. I enjoyed its rich and complex savoriness marinated into the tender chicken slices, cashews, chilis, and vegetables. Another Chinese-American dish was the sweet and sour chicken. The dish features a crunchy pan-fried chicken coated with a sweet and sour sauce. I loved the crunchiness of the chicken and the lightly sweetened, tangy sauce. The Mongolian Beef is tender slices of flank steak, stir-fried with scallions and onions in a savory brown sauce. I enjoyed the array of colors and flavors, the tenderness of the beef, and the use of Sai Fun (crispy bean thread stir-fry noodles), which was liberally topped and stir-fried with the dish. All half dishes, combination plates, and lunch specials are served with jasmine rice. Main dishes are served a la carte. A big thumbs up for the presentation of the dishes and friendly, attentive service. The serving portions were generous. The consistency of flavors and the quality of the dishes warrant another visit soon. I will have to try more dishes before I can determine if I have a new favorite lunch spot for Thai food in Clovis. The array of lunch specials is very enticing, and I look forward to coming back and trying any number of them. Closed on Sunday and Monday. Open Tuesday to Saturday, 11:00 AM - 3:00 PM

Honestly the best Thai place we've had in all of Fresno, and they know it! This place was packed, which is a good sign. We had to wait for at least 15 minutes to be seated. They were super busy and the waitresses were running back and forth accommodating everyone quickly. The dining room is decorated with golden Buddhas and the food was amazing. They have lunch specials with items or order à la carte. The flavors are authentic rivaling some of the best flavors from Thai Town in LA! A real gem. The only downside is that they are only open for four hours and closed Sunday & Monday.

When it comes to the BEST panang curry/rice chicken curry, this place is the best, no question! By far this place have been holding it's name and the first for having the best thai curry in town. And yes, I'm back for the curry. RED CURRY : Their's protein option; pork, chicken, beef, and tofu. Today I order pork red curry. The red curry is slightly spicy and a bit more oily. The balance of the herbs, paste, spices and coconut cream was perfect. The taste is creamy, sweet, salty and spicy. The lemon grass, lemon leaves and basil enhances the aroma and taste palate. The pork was perfect and very tender. SERVICE : They are always busy. Though, they are still great at giving the best service and attend to all of the guest. Sadly that sometime ordering through the phone is a bit hard because if they are on the phone with someone else, the line will cut you off. The wait time is approx. 30 min long for waiting in line or order take out. AMBIANCE : This place is very small and it's always pack. Sometime it's hard to stand in there or sit in there. All of the seats are very close to each other. The noise level is high. And yes, it sounds very busy here. OVERALL : I suggest plan ahead if you want to order or dine in. This place is always crowded. Majority of their menu are awesome to taste. I recommend it to anyone who wants some thai food. CONS : Their menu is a bit pricy.

This place has escaped me for years because they only open during the lunch hours of 11am - 3 pm Tuesday - Saturday. But I made it finally! I had already had lunch but I passed by and said I had to come here. I order a couple things in hopes of seeing what the deal was about this place. I ordered the Pad Thai and Chicken Satay. Honestly, I'm more a Pad Se Ew lover but I decided Pad Thai was the way to go today but it was very good and the amount fed me for 2 meals. It was full of the right traditional flavor. Lots of chicken and noodles. The chicken satay was flavorful and tender. I would definitely be back to try another dish or two. I would say worth the price as you get a good amount.

Hands down, this is the best Thai place in the Central Valley! The only downside to this restaurant is that its hours are limited to 11-3pm. Be sure to come before noon, or be ready to wait a bit for a table. I love their combination plates because the quantity of food is enough for two people (or two meals for one person if you want to pack a to-go box). My favorite protein to get with their entrees is the fried tofu. My go-to order is the pad Thai & panang curry combination ($16).

Dropped a star due to them not serving food in order. Very similar to a previous post, we watched others that came in behind us got their food first. Ours was a 40 mins wait and the waitress said, "your food is coming."

This place was jamming... cute restaurant with the kindest staff! The food was absolutely amazing! Only open for lunch, and be sure not to miss it. I am not kidding this is the best thai food I have ever had. And I've had a lot! I'm from Bakersfield and I will be driving to have it again!

Dry tasteless cardboard chicken... lacking flavor or depth.. don't get excited for the garlic chicken!

The service here is wonderful. They all are doing a good job. However, the Food disappointed... Yes, they use much more chicken in their dishes, and it sure plays well in the pictures! But what if that chicken actually didn't have any flavor, was plain, not seasoned at all and is cardboard like? What if the other dishes I ordered also lacked flavors in comparison to other Thai restaurants, or they went really cheap on the pad Thai sauce? What if the Thai dumplings were dry, lacking moisture, had a hard texture and actually just didn't even taste good? I don't have any desire to return to this restaurant and will stick with my favorite, Pad Thai on Shaw. Everything there is tasty, has robust flavors, even their most humble food item is packed with flavors! This place isn't even close... My experiment on Herndon is over! I'm returning to Shaw Ave to live out the rest of my days in TASTY, JUICY, FLAVORFUL satisfaction! -G

Joining the Thai Country fan club real quick. I've heard such great things about this place and it's been on my Fresno food bucket list and it did not disappoint! Their hours are limited and they are only open for lunch so I was worried about snagging a seat, but it definitely wasn't a problem! I came in with a group of 4 around 11:20ish on a Saturday and there were still plenty of tables!!! I think we got lucky though because it got busy shortly after so it's all about timing. THE FOOD/DRINKS: 〰 Pad Thai (4.5/5): This pad thai was BOMB. Perfectly savory and umami. I like my pad thai a little sweeter BUT that's just a personal preference and regardless this still tasted goooood. Gobbled this up like nobody's business! 〰 Thai Tea (5/5): I haven't met a thai tea i didn't like and this is definitely not an exception! Refreshing and not overly sweet. Perfect compliment to the meal. 〰 Panang Curry (5/5): Sooooo comforting and delicious. I would definitely get this again. The menu warns this dish is spicy but I don't think it's that spicy!!! I can only imagine how much this dish would be elevated with increased spice! However, at base level, this is YUM! Food aside, I would give this place 5 stars for service alone. I kid you not, we ordered and food came out in less than 8 minutes. My sister was even like, "I didn't have time to process that the menu was taken away and the food is here!". They were QUICK! And the food was still so quality. They don't mess around here. I get why people love this place so much. I wish they were open for dinner as well :'( I'd love to come here again and try out their other dishes too!!!

My friends and I arrived on Saturday at 11:15am and the place was almost already packed (they open at 11am). Parking is pretty limited and some people had to park on the street. We ordered the seafood Tom yum soup as an appetizer to share between the 4 of us and it was delicious. Then we had the chicken, panang curry and chicken pad Thai, with 4 sticky rice. It was more than enough to feed the 4 of us and have leftovers! Love this restaurant! Make sure to arrive early right when it opens!

We ordered steamed pork buns, orange chicken, crispy sweet and sour pork, beef and broccoli, low mein, and Yangzhou Fried Rice. Everything was delicious and loaded with flavor. The standouts were the yangzhou fried rice which comes with shrimp, chicken, and vegetables. Loved all the meat here and big chunks of veggies. We all loved the orange chicken and the crispy fried pork especially. I tried to get my kids to sample the steam pork buns, but they wouldn't, which just meant more for me! The family dinner comes with a bowl of sizzling rice soup, An egg roll a pot sticker and foil wrapped chicken. My entree was crispy beef and my husband's entree was Kung pao chicken. The pot sticker was probably one of the best I've had in town, The wrapper was not too thick, Silky, Slightly crispy, And the filling was light and delicious not heavy. The Foil wrapped chicken Was different than any other place in that it was lighter and not overburdened with a salty sauce. As far as the entrees, My crispy beef was amazing, So crispy, With a delicious sauce. My husband's Kung pao chicken was so tasty, Everything was fresh and the chicken was not dry.
