This is the best lunch deal in Truckee. Solid Thai restaurant and their Cashew Chicken is fantastic!

Called ahead for a pick up order and was told it would be a 45 minute wait which was fine with us. We went to pick it up and was told it would be ready in an additional 10 minutes. We walked around a bit and came back, only for them to tell us that it was still not ready and they had no idea when it would be ready, so we ended up just waiting until they brought it out. It ended up taking about 1 hr 20 mins total until our food was ready, which was fine since they were clearly very busy and working as fast as they could. The food was delicious and still hot when we brought it home, and none of us were too hungry so the wait wasn't too big of an issue. Just make sure to count on it taking a little longer than they say if you order food during a busy time. read more

I eat quite a bit of thai food in my hometown but this place usually beats all of them. from their noodles, to their curries, you cant go wrong with anything. They have decent Thai food here. The taste of the majority of the dishes are off. You will not have an authentic Thai food experience here. Nevertheless, they still have decent food. I would say go for the seafood fried rice and the crispy duck salad. We ordered the Delicacy sample delights for a sampler of appetizers. These come with crab rangoon, golden roll, shrimp in golden shawl and fried wonton. None of these were particularly impressive. I was looking forward to crab rangoon, but was disappointed in the flavor. The sauce that went with the sampler did not taste so great. The crispy duck salad has really good flavor, but it's a bit too salty. The other disappointment is that the duck was not crispy at all. I still enjoyed this dish. I'd say stay away from the pad Thai noodles. They don't rightly taste like pad Thai at all. The mango curry has a good curry soup, but the ingredients used were lackluster. The mango was old and stringy. I very much enjoyed the curry soup with white rice, though! The best dish here would be the seafood fried rice. It also tastes so much better when you add sate sauce to it! Thai tea on the side goes great with the whole meal. Unfortunately, we gave the dessert a shot. We ordered the fried banana with ice cream and it was pretty bad. I was surprised they wrapped the banana in an eggroll. Service was good. One of the freshest somtom (papaya salad) I've ever had! We called in the order and ate at home since 99% of the restaurants in Truckee is PACKED and the average wait time for any restaurant we walk in is 30 minutes even though they say it's 15 minutes. Hubby picked up the food and said there was only one lady taking care of the customers- seating the customers, getting the orders in, serving the food, making Thai ice teas, cleaning the tables as well as putting some fancy stuff on desserts. We made an order for pick up at this location a couple of days ago and it was not the most incredible Thai food we've ever had. We got two orders of veggie spring rolls, these tasted too much like licorice, star anise, or fennel. It overpowered the whole thing. We then ordered the fried vegetable tempura, Oh my goodness, they were fried to perfection. The broccoli was the best part but there wasn't enough, unfortunately :( The sweet and spicy sauce that they came with complimented the fried aspect very well! For our entrees, we ordered a spicy basil and mushroom noodle dish. This dish was very spicy and very greasy too! , almost like they poured the whole bottle of chili oil in. It also barely had any mushrooms, so if you're ordering this for the mushrooms, don't. The next entree was Panang curry, It came with white rice which was alright. The actual curry did not taste the best when we got it but the next day for some reason it taste 100 times better. You could finally taste the peanut sauce. Then there was the mango curry. Same as the Panang, it came with rice but tasted way better the next day. So overall this is an okay place if you really are craving Thai food in Truckee since there isn't much else. read more

I'm sorry that the food was devoured faster than pictures taken. We ordered the vegetable tempura and fried tofu from the appetizers and basil tofu noodles as well as honey garlic tofu. I've been here a couple times over the years. It has always been a nice change of pace restaurant when compared with the meany other American restaurants in the area. This place is always packed with people and it can take some time to get your meal, but it's worth the wait. The food is delicious with just the right amount of spice. read more

This place rocks-the best food in Truckee!!! I always get the summer rolls (AMAZING) and tofu pad thai-no egg no fish sauce. SO GOOD!!! The staff (especially the one woman always working) is helpful and kind. My only complaint is please get rid of styrofoam and plastic bags!! It is a huge turn off for customers and extremely environmentally unfriendly. If you call to get take out, tell them that you're bringing your own containers. Also the restaurant can be a bit understaffed and if you're sensitive to spicy make sure to reiterate to the server to skip the heat. read more

Solid stop for Take-Out Thai food. Quick, hot, and accurate. This review is for the take-out only because I've never dined in. Timing- I was quoted 15 min for my take-out order and it was all packed and ready to go when I arrived (Perfect !) Silver dollar soup with chicken- the large size is plenty big for 2 to share if you are getting some other food. It's about the size of a typical large pho soup and is tasty and delicious. The veggies in the soup (carrots, cabbage and onion) were crisp and added a nice crunch ! The best part was that the soup is piping hot so it stayed hot enough to eat to go ! Summer spring rolls- light and veggie-packed. Served with a peanut sauce that has a little bit of a spicy kick to it , which added a lot of nice flavor. read more

Really overpriced. We somehow spent almost $100 on appetizers for two people. The food didn't impress me either. Imagine the most common and standard Thai fare, boxed up in Styrofoam. I don't think they have a good Thai chief. Everything here tastes like Thai flavor but.... I feel it just " like", not truly Thai food. Also, they don't have enough waitresses, we wait about 60 min to get the food after placing the order. They never refill the water even. If you are Asian, or anyone likes traditional Thai food. We stopped by on a Saturday night when we were turned away from Drunken Monkey...not really turned away but the 60+ minute wait was not going to work for my party of 7 which included 2 children under age 4. I think this place relies to some extent on overflow business from the clearly very popular sushi place next door. It was still pretty packed and took a while to get our large party accommodated, and then even longer to get our food. I have a feeling they are a bit overwhelmed and understaffed on busy weekend nights. Overall we liked the food. We would not go out of our way for it but at the same time it was tasty and fairly priced. Authentic or not? I cannot say since I am not a Thai expert. But I like what I like and I do have reasonably high standards, and this place was A-Okay. As long as you don't come in expecting to find Phuket or Bangkok in Truckee you will be fine. read more

Their food is fantastic! Our favorite is the pumpkin curry; so flavorful and filling. The service is very good. There is only one waitress working, but she is very efficient in helping her customers. We are used to eating spicy foods, but we've found that their "mild" is spicy. But oh so good! Perfect stop on the way to Tahoe. read more

Stopped by for a late dinner. Was crowded and had to wait. Good service, clean restaurant and easy parking. Prices a bit on the high side for the location. Crab Rangoon had a nice wrapper and crispness, but way too much filling and we couldn't find any crab in the mixture. Tom ka (coconut) soup with chicken was ok. Soup was kinda watered down and not spicy enough. Pad se ew was mediocre. A little too sweet, the noodles were over cooked and they didn't seem as if they were wok fried. I compare this restaurant with the many SF Bay Area thai restaurants I've been to. This one was just ok. read more

The food here is fantastic. it's very hard to get a hold of them because there's only two people working in the restaurant so the phone rings unless you call after 8:00 p.m. I usually just give up and drive over there and place my order at the door.. Surprisingly good Thai food snuck into Truckee. We typically don't expect solid Asian food in the Truckee area, but were pretty impressed by Thai Delicacy. We went in around 1:30 pm on a Saturday with a group of 10, and the server(/owner I believe) was accommodating and helpful. Not much in the ways of ambiance, but the food was solid and came out quickly. Will definitely go back. I really wanted to go to the Drunken Monkey sushi bar a few doors down, but it seemed too upscale for a family lunch. I'll save that place for date night. There are a couple of other restaurants in this center and we chose Thai Delicacy since Thai food is usually a hit with the kids. In the past I've eaten at Thai Nakorn in Truckee and I think that place is in the lead when it comes to the restaurant dining experience. We ordered the lunch specials and for $8.95 you get a large serving of food. Entree and your choice of rice or Pad Thai, a salad and appetizer. I love this place! When ever I am craving Thai food whether it's for dinner or for lunch I always go here. They have great lunch specials where you can get a variety of dishes in one lunch order. This place stays super busy so even if you order to go you'll have to wait for a while, but trust me it's worth the wait. I can't say that I love one dish more than the other they are all delicious and fantastic. I've also enjoyed the appetizers and specialty Thai iced coffee and tea.
