Well unfortunately we did not care for the food at all. It was a To GO order. We ordered pad woo sen with shrimp. The shrimp was so overcooked and rubbery. This place is located inside the Assembly Food Hall. We ordered Pad Thai ($12) and Red Curry with Rice ($14). The Pad Thai portion was tiny but the flavor was decent. I would give this no stars but I can't! The food was actually ok. Fifth & Broadway Assembly Hall is amazing! The problem is I took my remaining fried rice home to eat later since I didn't want to get full. After I got home I continued to eat my fried rice and in mid chew felt something hard and noticed I was chewing on a piece of plastic. Thai Esane is a decent choice if you're craving Thai food. I ordered the drunken noodles with chicken. I also made sure to ask for it to be extra spicy. The lady taking my order made sure to tell me, no refunds or remakes if it's too spicy to handle. I accepted the challenge and proceeded to get something that might burn my mouth out. The food was made quickly and I was ready to go. All in all, it was good and the spice level was more than eatable for me. I have to admit though, the slow spice nature of the heat built up by the time I finished my dish. The slow buildup eventually required me to grab something to fend off the gut heat that had accumulated. Another friend got the spring rolls and said she was thoroughly disappointed. I love this place. The food is really authentic and flavorful and honestly perfect for cold winter days. My favorite dish is their green curry. Its full of veggies and a little spicy, the perfect mix of flavors. It tastes exactly like the curry I got while visiting Thailand. I've have only been to this place once & say it was mediocre. They close early on weekends compared to other establishments in Midtown. I will admit, we did come in 20 mins prior to closing, but there was a lot of people in there & we ordered immediately. We are as fast as possible to we could finish right as they close, which we did, but they still appeared to not be thrilled we were there. Small, mediocre portions of bland, under-spiced food barely recognizable as Thai are now on offer, at inflated prices to boot. Steamed Dumplings were hard and filled with breading more than anything else; Green Curry with chicken was just a bowl of soup, virtually all broth, with a few submerged thin slices of boiled chicken strips and vegetables; Drunken Noodles was just a bland mish-mash of noodles with a few shrimp thrown in; Papaya Salad was almost all chopped romaine with very little papaya sprinkled on top and zero flavor or spice. New location, same love! Its modern and beautiful and makes you feel like we're tourists in our own city. Open, bright, tall ceilings, and that giant Buddha statue! Plenty of seating inside and out (for when the weather is right). They have also added a huge, fully stocked bar. And there's free, designated parking in the garage! Still enjoy some of my old favorites - drunken noodle, pad kra pao, and pad thai. But enjoying some new favorites that they have added to the menu - the red snapper - so delicious! Fried whole snapper on a bed of sautéed vegetables with a spicy, sweet and sour sauce poured table side. Yum! And on Saturdays only, there's a Brunch Short Menu - the Kao Mun Gai is a must. Update 9/20/19: Thai Esane has finally reopened in their new location. I missed the food so much and I am so happy they are back. The new Thai Esane has a whole new vibe to fit their new location. Thai Esane is now right off the traffic circle off music row and Demonbreun. The inside is stunning and will soon become a Nashville hot spot. The food has all been revamped but they still have the classics, just at higher prices. I attached photos of the new menu to this review. Overall Thai Esane is just as delicious as it has always been and I know they will find great success with this new location. Parking is in the garage under the Element. STAY AWAY! Literally the worst experience on takeout food I've ever had. We order two panang curries, extra spicy and four egg rolls. When we get home the ENTIRE top of the curries were covered in A HALF INCH thick layer of crushed red peppers that seemed purposeful. Then we went to eat an egg roll since the curries were completely inedible and the egg rolls were on fire spicy and a weird orange color like they had been soaked in pepper oil. The egg rolls should have no spiciness whatsoever. Why were they outrageously 5 alarm hot?! That's when we realized a cook completely messed with our food. Stay away from this place! We had eaten at Thai Esane at the Food Hall on Broadway and it was amazing, but someone in the kitchen at this location is seriously screwed up in the head doing this to peoples food. I love Thai food and I would say my girlfriend and I enjoy Thai restaurants a majority of the time. This place was packed with patrons upon our arrival and they quickly put a table together in the backside of the restaurant to accommodate us which was nice. The table was wobbly and I felt a little tucked away being next to the kitchen but it was fine. Our waitress took our order and made sure to keep our water glasses full. I ordered the Tofu Drunken Noodle and my girlfriend ordered the Tofu Pad Thai. Our order came out fairly quick about 10 minutes after ordering. My girlfriend was a little dissatisfied with the fact her food was warm but not hot like mine. Once we both dug in I was pleased with the flavor and the aesthetic of the plates. The only thing that could have been better was the tofu. In my opinion the Tofu was dry and very bland. I love it when the Tofu blends well with the dish and absorbs the flavor and this did not do it. Overall I have to give them 4 stars. I hate to leave bad reviews but I was extremely excited for this after it was included in the Eater 38 list of places to try. It was absolutely terrible. I got a take out order of drunken noodles, steamed dumplings, crab Rangoon, chicken satay, and Tom Kai. I would like to start off with saying the Tom Kai tasted like cleaning water, not sure if the dishes were rinsed properly. My boyfriend and I both tried it and the taste made us nauseous. The chicken satay was extremely dry and the peanut sauce had a weird texture. One of the crab Rangoons had no filling. The dumplings were the worst dumplings I've had in my life.
