I was staying in Redmond Town Centre at the Marriott right down the street. Saw this placed, read a few of the reviews, and decided to give it a go for dinner. Walked in and like the ambiance. Lots of dark wood, Thai art and decoration, and a nice bar at the back you can sit at that looks directly into the cooking area. No secrets here about how they are preparing your food. I looked over the menu and must say it's pretty impressive, loaded with lots of authentic Thai dishes. Too many to choose from! I settled on the Spicy Garlic Prawns (3 stars on the spice) and some steamed rice, along with a Singha. When the prawns came out they were served over fresh broccoli. It was cooked nicely so not to be mushy. The number of prawns was good as were the sizes. Not jumbos, but large so they were tasty without being tough. The garlic they were cooked in was in the sauce and made it flavorful without overpowering the dish. Only complaint was the spice level was a little low. I expected more heat from 3 stars (on a 4 star scale). For desert I ordered rice pudding (mango w/sticky rice was also an option) but unfortunately she came back and told me they were out...so no dessert for me. Service was solid, attentive without being over bearing. Servers are all Thai, as are most of the kitchen staff. Everyone I spoke with was friendly and nice. I'm very picky about Asian restaurants. I don't like generic, Americanized versions of Asian food, so this was a pleasant surprise. Overall a solid recommendation for Thai and I'd absolutely give it another go if I'm in downtown Redmond. read more

I love their food but this particular visit was gross. A dead bug in my rice. Pointed it out to my server and he was trying to be so discreet with the customers next to us. Didn't properly apologize. Ok where do I start, we haven't been here in years and I now remember why. The service was horrible, I mean, beyond bad. We had to wait for almost 30min for someone to come by and take our order. I hope the server was in training, otherwise the restaurant has real issues. She was neither friendly nor helpful at all, she was actually in quite a bad mood and she wasn't able to hide that. We were finally able to get our food order in, it took quite some time to get that figured out and again quite some time to get it. First, three plates came to the table and a couple of minutes later the rice and rest of it. We asked for the spicy condiments right away with our order, but didn't get that on the first try. We had to flag her down and ask again, she said yes, disappeared and didn't come back. We grabbed a waitress from another table to ask and see if we can get those. She came with one, but that was almost empty. Another try to flag someone down to fill it up. We got a refill on one of the containers, but not all... had to flag someone down again... quite a LOT of effort to have dinner at this place. I don't think we saw our waitress at all until it was time to clear the table. Clearing the table meant for her to take the plates that had some food on it to box it up, so we had several people at the table and she forgot what food was in which container. So we had to figure that out on our own, most of the plates were still on the table by the time we left. And the sad thing, the food is nothing to write home about either. Ok, I guess, but nothing that would justify the price, the wait time and bad service. We felt like we were a nuisance to our waitress. Food was good, service was terrible! I don't know when I've felt less welcome! We had just left the movies nearby, so thought we would have some Thai food. When we entered there were only about four tables seated and about 15 empty, they asked us to wait while the cleared one if the dirty ones, so they could seat us there- not sure why? It was at least 10 min. before we were able to order, there were other people actually yelling to the servers to get their attention. They seemed very focused on staying out of sight/beckoning range and didn't appear very organized or interested in customer service. On 2-12-2024 we had a meal at Thai Ginger in Factoria. The service was ok but the food was no able to be eaten. We ordered 2 Star and received at least a 4 star. We could not eat the food, it was simply too hot and they never checked back with us to comment. Finally, at the end of the meal time, the waiter never came back, he was "server D". When we went up to pay, we told him that we could not eat the food. They seem to act like they do not understand English but he did. My husband did leave a tip and he nearly beat him up over the amount. He nearly chased my husband down and started yelling him at the door and showed a lot of anger. We tried to explain to him that the service was marginal, that he never came bank and that we could not eat the food. We did not even take it home. The following day, I called to talk with the owner, wo we know. I was told she was out of town so I called Redmond Town Center. I talked with May, who said she was the manager. I told her what happened and asked to speak to the owner. She told me she was out of the county. I told May what happened and she told us to come to Redmond one night and ask for her and she would replace the meal that we could not eat. It was $74.36. We went last night and we had a good meal. When she brought the bill, I reminded her what she said and she apparently misrepresented that she is not the manager and went to talk with Ken, who said he was the manager. She lied about what she told us but then recalled her conversation with me and told Ken and he came back our table and said, "if you don't pay, I will call security". Ken states he called the owner and she said we had to pay. I have no idea if he called her or not but all of this has been a horrific experience and after 20 years of going to Thai Ginger, we will never go back. There is constant turn over and the food in Factoria is not consistently good. There is no reason for any restaurant to treat good customers like this and especially people who have gone for over 20 years, Even then the owner was in prison, we supported her restaurant. These people are crooks and highly dishonest. For any owner to allow her employees to treat nice people like this is unbelievable especially, when she herself spent a great deal of time in Sea-Tac prison for dishonest acts. The credibility starts with the owners down. We plan to dispute the charges with Visa. This restaurant has gone hill and all of them have gone out of business but two now. Also, the business has been very diminished in Factoria so others must be experiencing the bad good, constant turn over and increased prices. I would strongly avoid Vivian's two Thai Ginger restaurants especially when employees nearly beat you up and then threaten you. read more

I don't know why every other review is stating that they have bad service here, because we've been coming for years and the waitress is always polite, quick, and attentive. If you're looking for someone to flirt with you, they won't do that, but they do their job efficiently and effectively. I tried the pad Thai for the first time, and it was delicious! The noodles were not cooked correctly, a little stiff. It was also a lot sweeter than I am used to, but that is not a bad thing. Definitely needs rice on the side to cut the flavor though. The lime they had on the side was hollow- something I never experienced before. I couldn't get any juice out of it. Maybe if I could've gotten some juice I wouldn't have needed as much rice! The portion size was very large, I was unable to finish my meal and I'm looking forward to the leftovers tomorrow. My sister loves the Pad See Ew here, and we have returned here multiple times because she loves it so much. We usually get the spring rolls that come with plum sauce (the usual), chicken fried rice, which is delicious, and then my sister's favorite. I give this place 5 stars for flavor, but the under/overcooked noodles and hollow like knocked it down a star. read more

If it's bad I just don't go back and I'll tell friends and family to think twice before trying out the restaurant if they ask but this time I am way too irritated and felt totally robbed for what we had to pay for what little and not very good food we got! My wife and I looked at each other with complete surprise when we open one of the boxes and said "there is no way this can be all" The dish we were talking about was crispy garlic chicken...not only was it dry but there was no way everyone in the family could have even gotten enough! This place has gone down the drain. The food was so much better before. The service is fine. Very frustrated with the order. They gave us brown rice and we asked for white rice. The food we asked to be 7 star and it came 2 star. I sent the 2nd dish back after I explained that we wanted the 2nd dish much spicier then the first. It came very bland so we just asked for it to be removed from the bill. They said we ordered it so we had to pay for it. I told them I am not paying for something I don't like and to remove it. Was hoping to like this place based off reviews, but unfortunately that wasn't the case. Got panang beef and spring rolls to go. The spring rolls were plentiful for the price (a large handful of mini rolls). I ordered the Panang somewhat spicy (only two peppers) and it tasted more spicy than flavorful and the sauce is pretty thin. I prefer the thicker richer panang sauces. Oh well. I'm pretty picky about pad Thai from any restaurant but I was surprised at how much I liked Thai Ginger's. We ordered the tofu and the chicken pad thai. LOVED the big egg pieces as well as the fact that the noodles had a slight bite to them. They were very flavorful and the sauce coated every piece of noodle. It was still delicious as leftovers the next day too! So far, one of the best places for Pad Thai in the downtown Redmond area. 10/10 would come back. read more

I came here with my work team (around 20 people) for a lunch reservation. Located in RTC, it is easy to find parking and the food was pretty good. For appetizers, I tried the Chicken Stay which was not too dry and was beautifully complemented with the peanut sauce. For an entree, I got the prawn pad thai in medium spice, and it was good. The prawns were pretty big and the portion size was nice. I also got a thai iced tea and it was not overly sweet, so I enjoyed that very much. read more

I've been coming here off and on for a number of years, and I can say it's really hit or miss at this point. I think the lunches are the best value for money here, but this business really tries to get money from you on every detail. On my most recent visit, I ordered the Phad Prik Khing with Tofu, and asked if they could add Broccoli to the stir fry - I was told I would be charged $3 extra for them to add 3 pieces of Broccoli (seriously - $1 a piece apparently!). When my dish did arrive, it wasn't the worst tasting, but somehow was very greasy which I wasn't expecting. On this visit we also had the Fresh rolls, which were incredibly dry and too overpowered by the mint. In general, I've found the curries to be decent here, but otherwise, my experiences with the food and staff have been too unreliable for this business to get a higher review. read more

I have attempted to eat at this restaurant twice. The first time was with two friends to celebrate my birthday in May. The restaurant was mostly empty, with a few other tables. The service was absolutely horrible. It took a while to get waited on, get our food, then get our bill. The other tables had regular visits from the wait staff. The second time was a few days ago with one of the same friends. We got seated as soon as we walked in. We waited about 10 minutes before getting up and walking out. We were ready to order for over 5 minutes, and never got water. A couple was seated two tables away from us, and when they were brought water within a couple of minutes, and we still couldn't get the wait staff to even acknowledge us, despite watching them and trying to get their attention, we decided to go eat somewhere else. read more

We ordered Tom Yum soup with Tofu to start with and it back after 10mins with chicken. Called server back to correct it and she sent another server to check what we need. We noticed that the server/someone in the kitchen just removing chicken from the same soup and adding Tofu and we verified the same(as we noticed few small chicken pieces) in the same when the server came back with it. I called the server again and we confirmed the pieces that we noticed were of chicken and still argued that they re-made fresh soup for us. That was it for us and we left the place after paying for it. Would not recommend this place to anybody who can trust the server with their order and expect smile instead of rudeness. read more

Thai Ginger consistently does three things very well: Chicken Curry- 3 stars Beef Phad See Iew- 4 stars Chicken Satay How do I know this? I have a friend who is very particular about what he eats and what he likes. It just so happens that over the years, when we dine, we always get the same things at the same restaurants. Fine by me b/c he never lets me down. Sooo, I've been eating these three items here (give or take the satay) off and on now for the last three years and I've never once felt like they weren't spot on with flavor, spice, or quality. The beef phad see iew is always spicy enough, very flavorful. Lots of beef and broc. The curries are delicious too. Plenty of veg and the perfect amount of spice. Pricing is fair and service has always been great, no matter how busy they are. I'm sure the rest of the menu is great too, but I wouldn't know. No need to mix it up. I actually crave these things. The place is not what it used to be, the service is not as good as it used to be and also the quality of food is not as good as it used to be. I noticed through my last few dinners there that their meat has large amount of fat where I end up losing a good portion of my meal and leaving it on the plate. We were hanging out at RTC and wanted a lite lunch. I have been craving Thai food, so my boyfriend and I decided to split an order of pad se ew. A lot of the previous reviews had stated that the chicken can get overcooked and to order the beef. well, it turns out that not only does the beef not actually taste good, but it's $2 extra! They raised the prices as stated on the menu. So we ended up paying almost $14 for ONE order of pad se ew with beef. Which is frankly ridiculous for delicious huge servings, and this was bland, and a wimpy serving. I guess you are paying for location. Since it was such a beautiful day, we should have just walked to another one of the many Thai places within 1/2 mile. Not worth the price, or convenience. I've been to the Thai Ginger in Pacific Place before, and was fairly impressed. However, after going to the Redmond location with my friends, I can definitely say I will be dining elsewhere when visiting up there. First off, the menu is pretty overpriced for Thai - generally $11-12/plate. THEN they charge you $1.50 for rice! I don't mind paying that much money for a meal, but when most other Thai restaurants charge you $8 AND often have better food it's not worth it. Secondly, the food is just ok. I ordered veggies and tofu with peanut sauce (can't remember the exact name), three out of four stars for spiciness. There were literally FIVE cubes of tofu with my meal, and it didn't taste like there was any spice at all!!! Everyone else at my table (there were six of us) had the same problem. We were all mixing massive amounts of chili paste into our food to give it some flavor. Lastly, we were all disappointed by the service we recieved. When our waitress brought our check, we asked for it to be split up - what usually happens when a group of 20-somethings go out to eat. She COMPLAINED because we didn't tell her right when she was taking our order and that it was "too late" - we all had credit cards so that wasn't going to fly. We had to sit over a half hour while she divided up our bill - no idea why it took that long, it seems most people could do it with a calculator in five minutes. Also, two of us had our leftovers wrapped up and requested more rice (since we already paid for it I don't see why we couldn't get two more scoops), which I've done before at other Thai restaurants. When I got home I discovered that she had just wrapped up the quarter cup of rice that was left in the bowl at our table! In summary: either we went on an off day or this Thai Ginger is just another chain that has watered down the quality of their food and service. If you really like this restaurant I'm guessing you've never been to an authentic mom-and-pop Thai place yet. If you really want good food don't waste your money here, there are plenty of other great places to go in Redmond. read more

This is by far one of the best thai restaurants I have been to. Their tom yum soup is probably the best I have ever had. It is such a perfect blend of hot and sour... just absolutely amazing. We were just two people but we finished the soup very fast. Although very difficult to live up to the soup, their entrees were also beautifully spiced. I ordered five stars and I was pleasantly surprised with how spicy it was without burning my mouth. I could taste every bit of flavor, feel the heat, without ever feeling like it was too hot. The biggest problem I have with this place is overeating. It is just so good I can't stop eating. Their portions are also very generous and should really last for two meals most of the time. I can't really think of any cons. I suppose if anything it might not be very good if you don't like spicy food since spice is what they do best. For my money however, I would go to this place anytime. read more

First off, the food is fine (I had the pad see iew, husband had the house special with lots of onions and peppers), although it is on the mild side (usually a 1 at other places has *some* spice in it still, I think instead I should have ordered a 2 or 3 at this place). The service was also friendly enough, not too pushy, etc. So why the 2 star rating? I checked reviews on yelp before we went and I remembered how they stated that the price was higher at the restaurant than online. I thought I'd check the outside menu before stepping in and the prices still seemed reasonable and at least close to the internet prices if not the same. When I looked at the menu inside, though, the prices for the dishes we ordered were at least $1 more than the outdoor menu price (my husband's was at least $2 more if not $3). This just seems shady, and if it was any more expensive my husband would have insisted we walk out the door instead of staying for lunch. Oh, and my husband was also annoyed that rice costs $1.50 extra instead of coming with his dish (he opted not to order the rice, but the kitchen made a mistake and it came out anyway... whatever.) Another set of diners seemed surprised by the price difference and walked outside looking at those prices then asked the server about a lunch menu and they said the menu was the same as outside (maybe just not the prices...). They do have Thai Iced Tea here which is very important, so a bonus there! And, the Thai Iced Tea wasn't too milky and still had a nice strong flavor. We'll probably stick to our regular Thai places instead of returning to any of the Thai Gingers... and if we're at RTC, there seem to be a lot of other options to try there that probably wouldn't leave us feeling as though we were taken advantage of. read more

I had high hopes for this place. It's in Redmond Town Center, so you figure it's a little pricier than some place but hopefully also really good. I was excited to see that the Pad Thai apparently won some reward, so I ordered that and Chicken Satay. Both were disappointing. The satay wasn't really good (the peanut sauce was fine, though). It was sort of "blah," and the texture felt off to me. The "award-winning" Pad Thai was gloppy and sweet. It also had an odd texture in that it was all one soft mess. The service was decent. That was the highlight of the visit. Otherwise, I was really disappointed. I am not planning a return visit. read more

Best Thai food in Town! This place is great. I've been there over 20x so far this year (I get a great discount) and I love it. The food is great, the atmosphere is great, and the waiters are very warm and friendly. I'm kindof a wuss so I usually just get 2 star and it's never too spicy.
