I have had a pretty good experience at this place over the last few years, but the most recent visit last week my friend and I visited was bad. I was really dissapointed during my last visit to this restaurant. I go for the crab fried rice which usually takes your mouth for a little ocean journey, alas not only did it lack the requisite crustacean ingredient, but there must have been a dead-zone the night Thai Ginger went fishing for our meals. We ordered the wok-fried seafood, which the menu told us contains mussels. However, our dish was very lonely, lacking in mussels. Now, I knew there were mussels in the place since we were sitting at the bar and I once, no twice, witnessed one of the prep chefs drop the mussels on the floor and then (gasp) throw them back on a plate! Dammit! I guess I should have been grateful they didn't make it on mine. However, perfectionist that I've been rumored to be, I asked if we could get a little hook up on the mussels. Dish went back twice and still no mussels. Sadness. Try the Thai Coffee and you might feel better about any shenanigans. read more

I tried giving this place a chance multiple times. Feel like their food is always inconsistent. One time had pad kee mao and the noodles we got were partially hard. Today Gave this place another shot and got our usual inconsistent guay tiew naam (rice noodle soup). Sometime the broth taste like bland soup water and sometimes it taste really good. Went in to give it another try and soup completely off. Gave us the wrong noodle type as well. We asked the waiter what happened to the wide noodles. Even told them it's ok if they ran out because we were just wondering why the change (just incase they thought we were demanding them to change out the food). He told us we didn't request the right noodles and this was the norm. We been here many times and we are from the same culture so we know what the norm is. Also the menu clearly says "wide noodle", not sure if they were trying to make excuses or the guy is new. I guess for $17 a dish I expect some sort of consistency with their food. read more

One of the best places to introduce thai food to newbies. Food is cheap, service is fairly fast considering how packed they usually are, and you can drink beer to help take the edge off of the screaming kids. (why do you parents insist on bringing your crotchspawn out in public when they act like monkeys?) Try the: Phad pak, spring rolls (sadly, fried, but still good), crab fried rice all meats are tasty, oddly enough i enjoy the tofu and beef pretty much the same. Ask for extra shitaki mushrooms in the phad pak, you will appreciate it. This is my favorite place for a fast bite to eat that is a step above the pho/sushi range. My girlfriend insists that we eat here every time we are down in this direction from Vancouver. read more

This place is very decent for quality Americanized Thai food. The atmosphere is kinda nice - dark with some nice furniture, and an open kitchen where you can see all the magic. I get the five-star Phad Kee Mao chicken almost every time I go... It's actually spicy, which I think is so rare in this area. The service is merely good at best, and very mediocre at worst. My pet peeve is restaurants that actually close half an hour before their stated close times. If the kitchen closes at 9.30pm and you stop taking customers at that time, then you close at 9.30 pm and not 10pm. Food is just ok. Service before closing absolutely sucks. read more

When Thai Ginger first opened up in Factoria, I loved it! I haven't been there much lately, but I started working in Redmond so I decided to give it a shot. I wasn't disappointed, but nor was I impressed. I definitely remember it being a lot tastier, but again...it wasn't bad. The restaurant layout is pretty much the same as all their other places. Gets really crowded for lunch since a lot of Microsoft people go here so expect a bit of a wait for your food. You do get a free bowl of Hot and Sour soup to hold you over! This location sits on the 2nd floor of Redmond Town Center so there isn't a dedicated parking lot, but definitely plenty in short walking distance. I always get the Pad See Ew or Curry. Beef is usually the way to go since the chicken gets overcooked sometimes. Their fried mini spring rools are good too! read more

I was the first of my party to arrive. One by one, each of the 3 waitresses asked if I needed anything while I waited. So they were pretty attentive except that it took forever to get our bill. The restaurant was less than half full but it was so loud in there. Their menu has the basics and some specialty items. We ordered the red curry with scallops and the Thai Ginger Special with beef. The food here is delicious. Try the tom yum soup, any of the noodle dishes, or especially any of the salads. Unless you go during off-peak hours, however, good luck getting served. I tried to get take-out at about six-thirty last Friday night. I happened to be shopping in Redmond Town Center, and figured I'd just call my order in, then walk over and pick it up. No one answered the phone after a couple of attempts. Since I was only a few doors down, so I decided to walk in. Although it was busy, I noticed a couple of tables open. There was a party of three waiting...and waiting. I had to flag a waitress down to inquire about placing a take-out order. She directed me to a podium, where I waited in vain for about five minutes. A lady got in line behind me and another few minutes passed without anyone acknowledging our presence. The staff seemed overwhelmed, and steadfastly determined to ignore the increasingly disgruntled expressions on the little group of us waiting to be greeted. I hate giving this place a bad review; I really do. But it doesn't matter how excellent the cuisine is if a restaurant is so understaffed that you can't get served. We went in about an hour before closing time. Theres about 5 cooks 2 waitress. 3 tables with customers. We ordered fresh rolls, pad thai and curry with side of rice and side of steam noodle. Now, whenever you go to a thai restaurant fresh roll COMES with peanut sauce; they charge $3. Portions of the dishes are small. Also, we waited for our steamed noodle so we can add it to the curry. Half way through the meal waitress runs up ask which kind of noodle we wanted, we said forget it, we are half way through the meal. When i saw the bill, i see noodle charge on it. I walked to the employee and said "you guys charged me for noodles, no tips. Just take it out of that." Came here for lunch, and ordered the following: - lettuce cups - halibut cheeks - pad kee mao - jasmine tea Here's what you can expect: - A rude greeting at the door. The hostess did not greet us when we arrived, and looked put out when seating us. (We did not ask for any special seating) - Fruit flies. Everywhere. I would've taken a pic to prove it, but it's too hard given the lighting. - Halibut Cheeks were tough and tasteless. Admittedly they were steamed, but the toughness from overcooking made it unacceptable. - Other patrons asked to speak to the chef. - Forgot our tea order, and the entries came out after we took our first bite of the appetizer (lettuce cups). Before reading the review below, keep in mind that I am not from this area of the country, and that I am not well versed with what authentic Thai food is, but have been to several restaurants, and that this is what I am comparing this experience to. Thai Ginger was pretty mediocre. The ingredients were not very fresh, the noodles that I had were too salty, and the final prduct/quality is similar to a fast food chinese place. The waiters/waitresses were attentive without being personal or friendly, and the tables were close without being cozy. The item that I liked the most was the rice pudding. it was warm and sweet, but be careful, they serve it very very hot (temp wise). If you're looking to get a quick bite to eat that's not a burger, this is a good place to grab some grub in the Redmond Town Center, but don't expect to be able to have conversation that you can hear, and if you can, you'll be too distracted listening to the table next to you. read more

Nice decor, prompt yet impersonal service, and convenient location. The food is generally quite good here. In particular the red curry is excellent. However the phad thai disappoints, so I suggest you skip it. If you like great phad thai, I recommend either Pen Thai in Bothell or Chantanee in Bellevue. read more

This was my favorite place to order take-out when I used to work in Redmond Town Center because the portion size was big enough to fill me up during lunch and I would usually have leftovers to munch on after a long day of hard work. Oh yeah, it's good food too. The menu looks like what other Thai restaurant menus would look like. I've tried the ever so classic Thai dish here; Pad Thai & in my opinion, it's better than your standard Pad Thai because there's a side of fresh bean sprouts that comes with it & lime wedge which adds a kick to the dish. I've also tried the Pad Kee Mao, SO DELICIOUS & quite addicting. My former coworkers have ordered Thai Lettuce Wraps here which looks mouthwatering & I swore to try it one day, but I haven't got a chance to yet because every time I would go here, my craving for the Pad Kee Mao is too high to want to try anything else. I've never dined in to get the "full experience", but every time I've visited for my take-out, I've always been offered to have a glass of water while my food is being prepared. I don't call in ahead to place my order because I know doesn't take long at all for them to prepare it, only like 10 minutes, maybe less. If you're on a time crunch, maybe calling in would be best, but I had an hour lunch so I didn't want to take it back & sit forever in the break room having a food coma over delicious full portion Thai food. read more

Being a Thai Ginger fan for countless years, I've been to all but one location and I like them for their consistency. I've tried a lot of the noodle and curry dishes and a couple of appetizers. I've never had bad service in all the years of dining there. One disappointing word though. I just had some phad see yew last week that my mom ordered to-go. When you are attending family functions all week and you are tired of the Italian food the family thrusts upon you, ya gotta have something different. "How about Thai?" my sister-in-law suggests. My wife and I are big Thai food fans, as well as my brother and his wife. You name the dish and we have eaten it - probably in a dozen or so different versions. Like most Asian cuisines, every city and neighborhood has it's own version of the classics most found on today's restaurant menus. So for lunch on a Friday we ducked into Thai Ginger at the Redmond Town Center. The place was packed with almost everyone sporting Micro-who Employee badges. Things started off OK. Ordered two of the lunch combos (Pad Thai, chicken cashew, fried roll and rice), an Asparagus Shrimp and the Ocean Combination Soup. Iced tea for two of us, water for the other two. The combination plates were fair, but on both plates the pad Thai was lukewarm warm while the cashew chicken was excessively (thermally) hot and overly oily. The asparagus shrimp was above average for Thai, but lacking that signature punch one would expect from authentic Thai cuisine. The term "Americanized " comes to mind. I hate any foreign cuisine that gets "Americanized", I mean, what's the point? The Ocean Combination Soup was downright boring. The soup had wide noodles in it that were not really necessary other than to bulk up the preparation. The mussels were a tad sandy, but the scallop and squid were acceptable - with the exception that the squid could have been previously frozen - it had that slightly metallic taste frozen seafood gets when it's old. To make the soup much more enjoyable, I asked for a chili tray and dosed up the soup with nuk-mon and sambal olek. While it helped, it still was a bit flat in the overall enjoyment. Usually I oohed and awed when a soup has my attention. On this day I just yawned. I did not feel compelled to finish the soup. My spoon found the sand from the mussels in the bottom anyway. I was done with it (and still hungry). We should have heeded the numerous other reviews before us here on Yelp! that included the phrases like "no flavor", "bland" and "pricey" before we decided to go. Service was a bit spotty. Initially we were well taken care of. However by the time our food arrived and we needs glasses refilled, our waitress became more and more scarce. We had to ask a food runner to refill our teas and waters. What the waitress was extremely quick with though, was the presentation of the check. We have had MUCH better Thai Cuisine before elsewhere - numerous times - and also paid a lot less for it. We have also been perhaps spoiled by proper service in the past. I've only been here twice, but that was two times too many. The first time, my friends and I couldn't believe the number of incorrect items that were brought to our table; the fried rice was incorrect, the spiciness we requested was definitely off, and we had to get a busser to deliver our drink orders, after our food had already arrived. Getting any of the servers' collective attention was next to impossible. Despite all this, the food we did get was tasty. Not necessarily the best we've ever had, but at least above-average. The service soured us to the experience though. After a few weeks, we decided to try it again since we were in the area and craving some panang curry. Once again, we couldn't get anyone's attention; whether it was just to be sat or even place our orders, it was like pulling teeth. Our waitress was particularly crabby for whatever reason and very short with us. After waiting for 15 minutes since placing our order, we asked if we could get our drinks. She just rolled her eyes and left to get them. I thanked her regardless when she did this and her only reply was: "Yeah". 30 minutes pass and everyone in the restaurant was eating BUT us and our server was nowhere to be found. We flagged down another and asked if our soup was going to arrive soon. After checking their system, it came to light that not a single part of our order was inputted. We had been waiting a half hour for literally nothing. Our first experience with Thai Ginger may've been the fault of the staff but our 2nd trip was ours for giving them another chance. If you can deal with sub-par service, then by all means, try this place. If you are of the belief that customer service is part and parcel of your dining experience, stay far the hell away from here. read more

Thai food is Thai food. Predictable, and generally tasty. Thai Ginger, however, adds something most others don't have - I'm not exactly sure what that is, but our dining experience there was amazing. For the 3rd time, Thai Ginger has gotten our take-out order wrong. Tonight we even went in, placed our order in person, sat and waited and then when we got home both entrees were wrong!!! We had ordered a scallop dish and a chicken dish and came home with tofu ... in both! I should have know that we needed to open the bag and each of the boxes to check, but it was raining and late and we were hungry. It is still late, I'm still hungry. Located in Redmond Town Square. Food was really good. Served promptly and service was good. Nice spot for a quick lunch. I've had better crispy ginger chicken, and we ordered a 3 for spice for all. Not a whole lot of hot/spice for that number. May need to order hotter for next time, but I have a tad of a good hot tolerance. Hot Cheetos are still a little spicier. Thai Ginger is one of the go-to lunch spots for my team. Since it's conveniently located in Redmond Town Center, it's very easily accessible for anyone who works in Redmond. Parking can be a bit of a pain (you may have to circle a few times), but it's still amply available. I would recommend making a reservation if possible--this restaurant is usually packed to the brim during the 12-1PM lunch hour. On my last visit, our group of 10 was seated at once since we had already made a reservation. It took eons to get a server's attention. It then took several more eons for the food to arrive. The food arrived at random times, and several orders were messed up (wrong type of protein, or wrong spice level). The 5* spice level was kind of pitiful, and those of us who ordered anything under 5* were pretty desperately adding chili powder to our food. Also, the Thai iced tea I ordered never arrived--at least we weren't charged for it. The food here is your average Americanized Thai food. Nothing out of the world or particularly authentic, but it's a solid crowd-pleasing option. Like I said, perfect for team lunches--the menu is guaranteed to have something that everyone will be on board with. read more

Sometimes you might not get any food there, but at least their coca cola is good. My friends and I went to eat there. Everyone ordered food, and everybody got their food, except for my friend Heng. Waitress apologized and promised that the food was coming. We ate and talked some more, while Heng was still hungry. Waitress in the meantime refilled our drinks couple times around, and every time she mentioned that the food was still coming. Eventually everyone has finished their lunch and the next time waitress came she said that "the cook doesn't want to make food for you, sorry." Then, feeling bad, she added, "But I won't charge you for your Coke". Heng went to eat McDonalds afterwards. At least they serve some food there. read more

Looking at all the rave reviews of this restaurant I'm incline to think that we were there on their "off" night. The bad: The food. Yes, the food was not that great. Maybe it was becuase we didn't order the typical thai dishes that we normally go for. You know, pad see ew, pad thai or some other noodle dish. We opted in for the Special Yellow Curry (off their specials menu) and Thom Kha Gai soup. The curry was soooo salty and the veggies were.. crunchy. Yep, they were definitely undercooked. After biting into a few potatos I was done. I tried diluting the curry with rice to kill off some of the salt but it was still a little too salty for my taste. Thom Kha Gai - my absolute favorite, go-to thai soup dish... oh how I wanted to love you... I'm pretty sure that now (a week later) I can still taste the lemon grass. The soup was just a little too much on the "punch you in the face with lemon grass" side. Sigh... Again, brown rice to the rescue! The good: Service was fantastic! Prompt, efficient. We got our drinks within a few minutes of sitting down and our orders were taken shortly thereafter. The restaurant itself is very nice and seems pretty clean too. The verdict: I was dissapointed. Husband and I finished half of our food and didn't bother with leftovers, which, btw, never happens. Lets hope that this was their "off" night. I'm willing to give them another chance. We're in the age where it's easy to translate what someone is saying and apparently they spend so much time talking about their customers that they can't seem to get their things together. I am staying in. Hotel close to this restaurant but too far to walk . I had door dash deliver , Tim was very nice , handed me one and I ordered 2 items. He said he asked if that was the 2 items and they told him yes . Well I got to my room and of coarse it was not there . I called the restaurant and the woman asked if I could come get it or if I could come in another time she would give it free ?! I live in AZ!!!!!Really the whole point of DoorDash so I don't have to drive to the restaurant. Totally blew me off. I walked in and waited to be seated. I had to flag somebody down and they didn't give me a menu. Again I waited. Flagged somebody down and asked for water and a menu. Not family friendly. They seated us with out giving us a high chair for baby. We grabbed a high chair from the area near the bathrooms. No changing table, so I went downstairs to the mall bathroom to change a diaper. The food was fine, seemed expensive but probably it's because they are paying mall rent. Bangkok Basil down the street has a more authentic menu & cheaper. Oh and I am mad because adding protein cost 50 cents more than the menu states. I really enjoy their Phad Kee Mao, 3 stars. I generally get it with chicken or tofu. I've tried to branch out but at this particular Thai place, that is what I like. Its a chain Thai restaurant, but the decor is nice, the staff is quick and friendly, the food is pretty reasonably priced and consistently good. However, I do prefer the Pacific Place location.... but this one is so much closer to my home. read more
