Located in a strip mall in mainstream Sammamish, about halfway between Trader Joe's and Safeway, the small frontage shop turns a steady business as witnessed by the constant flow of takeout on an early Friday evening. We were looking for something simple, and I'm trying to see what's decent in Sammamish proper. Thai Trio seems to be a good takeout option, but dining in is more suitable for a 'street-style' encounter they promote instead of a planned night out: there's only like 5 tables inside serviced by metal backless stacking stools, and it would be tight for a 3-person or more party at a table. The menu is simple with limited range: proper for a strip mall t/o function. I found it interesting that the 'about us' feature on the TT web page discussed having a huge success with the Swimming Rama dish, yet it wasn't offered locally, only in their Thailand roots. I ordered the Drunken Noodles $18, and later added Fried Wontons appetizer $9 shortly after the order was already in process. The noodles arrived after a proper delay (not fast, but not slow either), and the wontons appeared a few minutes following, which was good since my wife's order didn't arrive until after these. The wontons were crisp and hot, about 5 or 6 pieces, with a small cup of sweet and sour dipping sauce. Good, but forgettable. My noodles were accompanied by a decent sized serving of pork, and lesser of spinach and other veggies, in a proper amount of sauce. Tasty and matching the medium spiciness ordered, but also forgettable. I left with a full belly. Wife ordered Penang Curry $17, which arrived last. It was a bowl of sauce with chicken in it, with a side bowl of rice, and wife commented that it was devoid of other ingredients: no veggies (maybe there were some, but you'd have to dig around to find them). She commented 'average'. We wanted a simple jasmine tea, and what was probably their strongest offering was the drinks: I watch the one counter person make drink after drink, and they had a fancy label machine that heat-sealed a plastic film over the top. We were expecting hot but a cold beverage arrived $7 ea, and the surprise was pleasant, possibly the high point of the meal. The served greeted us promptly and came for our order timely, but the offered water didn't arrive until after all the food arrived, and with the tea drink. That and the random timing of the dishes sends the message it's best as takeout. And watching the queue of orders going out the door and people stacked up waiting, you're best to order in advance and pick up later: it's not fast food (which they did not claim, either). Prices bordered on being expensive, given a mall facing and lack of a proper dining room. As we were looking for a bigger dining experience and this was not a good match (our fault), it's unlikely we'd return since there are a few others more in line with what we were looking for as an experience. read more

I was so happy to have tried this place. I dont live nearby but was in the area and stopped by for dinner. We were greeted by very friendly staff and they recommended to us their favorites. I got the Pad Thai and a Tom Yum soup. This might be one of the first times Ive had thai which reminded me of the flavors in Thailand and not adjusted for American taste. Stopped by here for a lunch on a sunny Saturday. The restaurant itself is small and has limited seating, but we managed to get a seat as it wasn't too busy when we went. Overall vibe nice! Very Thai-themed with really nice decor. It was also very clean, including the bathroom. Service was great. Our server was very friendly. Soft spoken, but very kind nonetheless. Even offered to bag our leftovers when she saw me struggling a bit to carry out lol. We ordered the tom yum soup with tofu, pad Thai, pork leg, and Thai tea. The Thai tea was good and refreshing, but a little too much ice. Pad Thai was pretty good too, but I've had better. But not bad at all. The pork leg was also good. But my favorite was the tom yum. Very tasty and home made style food. They will tell you which dishes are GF or Vegan. We love the Pad Thai and the chive street food bites are really good. We have done mostly takeout here but occasionally eat in. It's chilly in metal chairs especially when it's cold outside and the door opens frequently. Seating is limited. They're always friendly and communicative when a dish takes longer than usual to prepare. read more

I've gotten takeout here several times. At times can get and crowded. Staff is always extremely friendly with a smile on their face. As far as the food, I typically get the pad see ew. I really love a mango sticky rice and the great thing that seems to be available all year. I've also had the panang curry and the wontons. The food is on the better side of your average Thai spot. We were camping nearby in Fall Creek and came into Sammamish for groceries and to grab a quick dinner. We spotted nice stars for Thai Trio and decided to give it a try. It's a pretty small place with only a few tables, so they seem to do a lot of take out orders. We were seated and given menus, and our order was quickly taken. Not having been there before, our server warned us that they tend to run on the spicier side, so we went with spice level 2 instead of our usual 3. It was a great decision! Our Drunken noodles with pork were perfectly seasoned - just enough spice to enhance the flavor without burning my eyebrows! We also ordered the Thai chicken wings which had a nice dry rub seasoning, were plump and moist. Both dishes were amazing! I'm sorry we don't live in the area because this would be our favorite go-to for Thai food. I've always been curious about this Thai restaurant since moving to Sammamish. I finally tried it and I became a regular customer! My husband and I have both gotten the pad see ew and it's rich in flavor and a huge portion. I will say though, they tend to go heavy on the spice, so I would maybe go 1 star lower on your desired spice level. Service is always quick! We tend to pick up the food to go but there are a couple tables inside. In the summer you can eat at the tables outside. read more

I think this thai place is as good as other thai food in pacific northwest. I has chicken pad kra pao wigh 4 stars. She warned me it would be spicy and it sure was. I handle spices well but it was pretty spicy as she described. The only reason I give 3 stars is because the food is pretty oily and greasy. Thai Trio is nestled along a row of shops, in between two grocery stores. it looks more like a smoothie shop at first glance, but they do cook up some pretty tasty Thai food in the back kitchen. I placed an order of pad see ew to go which was ready and packaged nicely 10-15 minutes later when I returned from grocery shopping. Super friendly service and not too pricey. The dish was tasty and had nice chunks of chicken. I wish the portion was a little bigger and had some more noodles and broccoli/carrots. I usually try to stretch an order of pad see ew into two lunches, but this one is more like 1.5. Overall happy with the taste and quality so would return for another round in the future. read more

This is the newest Thai restaurant in the Sammamish area located within the Safeway shopping plaza. The city has been missing a Thai place for years, so I've been really excited to try it out. Currently, they only offer takeout which has been the case ever since they opened months ago. Compared to other Thai restaurants, the menu here is on the smaller side, but they do have some variety between noodles, meat dishes, appetizers and one curry. The four of us shared four dishes which was more than enough. We ended up having some leftovers of each one. + THAI BBQ PORK ($15.95): The pork had a delicious grilled flavor and slight sweetness from the marinade, but was unfortunately a little dry. It came with some raw carrot and cucumber slices, tamarind sauce for dipping and a container of sticky rice. Even though the rice came wrapped in foil to keep it warm, it was pretty hard and very chewy. Keep in mind that this takes up to 15 minutes of prep time since they grill each piece to order. + DRUNKARD'S NOODLE w/ CHICKEN ($15.95): My favorite dish of the night! This is basically their rendition of Pad Kee Mao. We got this with wide rice noodles, but alternatively, you can also order it with spaghetti noodles. It had a medley of vegetables... bell peppers, baby corn, onion, Thai basil and Chinese broccoli. The chicken was cooked well and there was a reasonable serving of it. Despite being mild, the sauce had a good amount of spice and was savory. + PAD SEE EIW w/ PORK ($17.95): As a contrast to the other noodle dish, this had a sweeter sauce and was not spicy at all. The pork was pretty tender and I liked how this came with Chinese broccoli rather than regular broccoli like I've had at other restaurants. + THAI CHICKEN RICE ($19.95 large): If you enjoy ginger, this is the perfect item for you. I am not a huge fan of ginger, but one of my dining companions loves it. The poached chicken itself was super tender and it came with a fragrant ginger sauce to put on top. It also came with a side of rice, chicken broth to pour over it, and thick cucumber slices. Even the broth seemed to have a hint of ginger in addition to large chunks of what appeared to be wintermelon. I didn't pick up the food that evening, but a couple of my companions said the staff was very friendly! There were other customers ordering food as well, but our items were all ready within reasonable time. I'd go back again to continue eating my way through their menu! We love Thai food. We always choose a Thai restaurant when we travel, simply to see the respective restaurant's specialty. Thai Trio has been here in Sammamsih for awhile and for whatever reason we just recently tried them and may we say, dee=lish=usss! Their standard 'heat' was plenty, that part beware and be aware! Amazing, delicious, I'm completely blown away and loving this new thai place! The owner was our cashier who helped us with our order and is super nice. He will explain all the details about the food with a big smile on his face. The kitchen behind him is so extremely clean, I am pleasantly shocked. I got a variety of takeout, so the scent of the fried chicken tantalized me the entire way home. It tasted amazing, fried perfectly with thin crispy skin, a good mix of wings, and it was still juicy inside! It came with peanuts on the side, with sauce (also on the side) and wrapped nicely in a box that traveled well. Next on our takeout platter was the fried tofu. Again, thin crunchy skin with generous sauce on the side. Absolutely love this appetizer. I looked everywhere for tofu fried like this, and this is the place to get it. I dipped that tofu into the penang curry, which tasted heavenly because there was also slow-cooked, moist, soft, delicate chicken in that curry. The rice came on the side and that was also very nice. Lastly, there was the platter of grilled pork which really hit the spot--with the char-grilled taste of street food that is so nostalgic, that plate vanished first. The sticky rice that came with it was also heavenly. Got a milk tea to cool off on this hot day, and the boba is nice and chewy, and the (premium thai trio milk tea) was the flavor I chose, which had a lovely, full-bodied taste with adjustable ice and sweetness level. We showed up during their dinner hours after seeing some activity around this new dining option next to Crumbl earlier this week. They're to go only right now, they are in their soft opening phase with a planned Grand? opening on the 22nd. The owner was happy to elaborate on the menu specifics, such as "elegant" (a share or family size portion 1.5x's the regular portion), the current menu offerings that were still available, and his custom Thai tea blend difference from the traditional version (less sweet, more "savory" body tea). All of the staff were super helpful and pleasant, even the woman putting our dishes together was thoughtful when she heard me asking about the Thai chicken rice compared to Hainanese Chicken rice and gave me a dark meat heavy serving over white meat. The dipping sauces were all delicious--the dark like a thick sweet soy sauce and the garlic lemongrass both compliment the rice and chicken beautifully. I'm still not sure what's in the broth but I liked it (and I'll ask next time). The pad Thai is a fair price for the portion size and the tamarind-based sauce is flavorful and served with the spice packet on the side, an authentic Thai experience per the owner (instead of serving and mixing on a 0-5 spice level). The enormous mango sticky rice poster and a dedicated mango case inspired me to finally try the dessert and it was as you might expect, just not with an obvious white coconut cream/sesame on top like the menu photo suggests. The mango tastes like the honey mangos and the sticky rice is chewy and slightly floral with a subtle coconut flavor. They don't have tables but the chairs are stacked in the back with other boxes. The inside looks clean and well lit with ingredients stacked like pantry shelves. We tried the premium tea with milk and boba and it was warm and creamy and delicious, as well as the boba had its own sweetness and great chew. My mom and daughter liked it enough we had to order another so they had their own. What a fantastic addition to the Plateau offerings--I felt like I had a home cooked meal after eating here. I saw that they had Spaghetti Kee Mao on the menu from looking at the Yelp photos and had to come try when we were near the area. They didn't list it on their menu anymore when we came, so I was a bit sad, and just ordered the Drunkard Noodles, but then he asked if I wanted with the regular wide noodles or the spaghetti noodles, and I was excited again. And the guy, I'm assuming he's the owner, asked how spicy, and I asked what's the spiciest he can make it, and he said 10 stars. So, I ordered the noodles with 10 stars, and it was actually spicy, and I really liked that. We ordered other food, and came back one week later. Everything we ordered was delicious, except we thought the beef meat ball skewers wasn't anything special. And the sticky rice that came with the Thai-style BBQ Pork was way too mushy, not the kind of sticky rice I'm used to; maybe they didn't cook it the normal way or overcooked it. They let me make it Pad Thai 10 stars, which he said they don't usually do, but it wasn't as spicy as when I had the Drunkard Noodles. Pad Thai was good; it still stayed good even after a couple days unlike most Pad Thai noodles that get very dry as leftovers. And we've tried the Thai Trio Premium Tea, Yuzu Green Tea, and Yuzu Honey Lemon, and they were all very good. And the tapioca had good texture.
