I've only gone here a few times, but I am pretty pleased with it. I tend to be timid when it comes to trying new food, so I've only had their yellow curry and their pad thai (with broccoli). Both are very delicious -- the pad thai make me go "mmm" when I take my first few bites -- and the prices are very reasonable. I think the pad thai as a meal was 7.95. Most other Thai places for the same price will serve you very sub-par food compared to this place. My only huge complaint is that the way the place is built, it makes noise multiply and echo so much that you can't really hear the person you're sitting with. Oh panang curry, you get me every time! Seriously, I know I ought to check out the other items, but that panang curry is heaven on rice. I've tried their pad thai as well, which is delicious, but I can't let go of my favorite. The restaurant always smells amazing as soon as you walk in the door. The waitstaff is always courteous, and I'm amazed at how stealth they are at refilling our waters. They're like thai food ninjas! Well I was hesitant to come here, as it is a chain and I thought I had found my favorite Thai place in Redmond. But I am glad I did, this place is a little more expensive than I would like BUT it has always been consistent and very yummy. However, I only order the same two things (shared with a friend): Chicken Pad Thai & Red Curry- both are pretty addicting. I would say this is pretty "Americanized" but its always satisfyingly spicy, warm and filling (sadly, we rarely have leftovers- smaller portions that some places). The veggies are fresh and the meat is not questionable (hey- sometimes that can be an issue- you know what I mean). I come here for lunch during work and it generally pretty crowded but they do a good job of serving everyone quickly without compromising my meal. Honestly, the restaurants in RTC (Redmond Town Center) just aren't that great. That being said, Thai Ginger is probably one of the better restaurants in RTC. This is usually the go to place if my coworkers and I want some Asian food, but don't have time to venture to Noodle Land. I usually stick w/ the Curries here-- you REALLY can't mess up the curry. Another decent dish is the Curry Fried Rice-- you can't mess that up either.. it's just curry w/ rice! So I guess if you stick w/ the curries, you'll be a-ok! read more

I was staying in Redmond Town Centre at the Marriott right down the street. Saw this placed, read a few of the reviews, and decided to give it a go for dinner. Walked in and like the ambiance. Lots of dark wood, Thai art and decoration, and a nice bar at the back you can sit at that looks directly into the cooking area. No secrets here about how they are preparing your food. I looked over the menu and must say it's pretty impressive, loaded with lots of authentic Thai dishes. Too many to choose from! I settled on the Spicy Garlic Prawns (3 stars on the spice) and some steamed rice, along with a Singha. When the prawns came out they were served over fresh broccoli. It was cooked nicely so not to be mushy. The number of prawns was good as were the sizes. Not jumbos, but large so they were tasty without being tough. The garlic they were cooked in was in the sauce and made it flavorful without overpowering the dish. Only complaint was the spice level was a little low. I expected more heat from 3 stars (on a 4 star scale). For desert I ordered rice pudding (mango w/sticky rice was also an option) but unfortunately she came back and told me they were out...so no dessert for me. Service was solid, attentive without being over bearing. Servers are all Thai, as are most of the kitchen staff. Everyone I spoke with was friendly and nice. I'm very picky about Asian restaurants. I don't like generic, Americanized versions of Asian food, so this was a pleasant surprise. I have been coming here since they opened and I really like the place, time to write a review. The mantle for best Thai in the Redmond area passed to Thai Ginger after Typhoon closed IMHO. Service has always been good, food always good, cleanliness used to be good (more later) I often call ahead for take out on my way home from work and go inside every couple of months: Tom Kha soup: Just awesome, can't say enough about it. Calamari Rings: Different than any other Calamari I've had. Very large rings, very crispy outside and tender inside. Calamari is great, but the sweet chili dipping sauce is boring. Put some Thai Chili sauce in it to kick it up. Crab Fried Rice: This was just AWESOME. Can't tell you how often I get crab in anything and it's overcooked. The crab was perfect! Panang Curry - Chicken: Holy cow I love this dish. The curry is creamy and spicy. They serve enough of the curry to put on your rice. The portion is small for the price though. Phad See Iew - Chicken: I love this dish as well, always great amount of whatever protein you ordered. This is my go-to for take out. Halibut Cheeks: Maybe the best dish here, holy crap I love this. Halibut cheeks in panang curry, Holy crap I love this dish, did I say that? For the people who complain that the food isn't spicy enough, that's your fault, ask for it as spicy as you want and they will deliver. If you want even more spice, ask for them to bring the spices to your table.(see below) For the guy who said that he asked for "sauce or spice they several containers of various salsa styles", nonsense, have you been to a Thai restaurant? They bring four containers, one has Thai Chili sauce (Sambal Oelek), one has Thai Chili Fish Sauce (Hot Heaven in a jar), one has Pickled Jalepeno's and the 4th is a hot spice powder of some kind. In no planet can that be described as "salsa styles". Liberally put the Thai Chili Fish Sauce on just about everything, you will be so happy. I was waffling between 4 stars and 3 stars. Some of the food above is solid 5 star food, but the cleanliness of the bathroom was awful, not to mention cold water and no towels. Swatting a fruit fly away during the entire meal always makes me wonder about the overall hygiene of a place as well. 4.5 stars for the food, 3 stars for the cleanliness. Worst experience. Had told the waitress not to add mushrooms in the yellow curry rice but still there were a lot of mushrooms and we needed water to drink initially but no one cared to even set the table with water for about 10 minutes. Only after we asked for water a few times they got it. Had ordered Phad thai without egg and oyster sauce and fish sauce but who knows when they had not bothered to not add mushrooms, would they have cared t not add fish or oyster sauce????? This may have been the worst food I've ever had. The beers with straws were just kind of funny. The appetizers were decent. My veggies with peanut sauce were frozen store bought veggies, undercooked, sitting in pools of water, with the peanut sauce poured over them. And it was $14. My daughter didn't touch her phad Thai and was mortified when I said no thank you to a box and even more upset when they boxed it anyway and I left it on the table. Which tells you how often we don't like our food. Never. The spinach in the spinach dish was that stuff from Costco where all the leaves are the same size and covered in something waxy. And they didn't cook it. It was just awful. And $100 for four people. Do not waste your money. Service was good. The people were lovely. That was it. read more

This member store of the local chain of Thai Gingers is situated in the Redmond Town Center mall, making it a prime lunch spot for shoppers and businessmen alike. My boyfriend needed a break from work at Microsoft, and I needed some attention, so we stopped by yesterday. I was instantly struck at how loud this restaurant gets. Some people like that, I hate it. We were seated and served promptly, but that was about all the service we received until our check came. Lunch specials are a bit too pricey and too large, in my opinion. I think it would serve them well to cut the food in half and lower the prices. I had the Panang curry with tofu ($8.95), which is difficult to screw up, and was unremarkable. My boyfriend went with the seafood yellow curry fried rice ($10.45), which honestly had good flavor but was much too greasy. I used to work at RTC and this was my favorite restaurant. I'd go about once a week. The food is pretty good, spiced well, complex. The service can range from pretty bad to great depending on your server; they are all pretty friendly, however. I've tried everything on their menu, but I really recommend the following: * Pad Thai * Pad See Ewe (sp?) * Pad Kee Mao (sp?) * Any curry. * Spicy eggplant My biggest complaint is that they don't have papaya salad or beef salad for lunch as these are 2 of my favorite things in the world. read more

I just got back from the East Coast, and I really missed Thai food. Seriously, there's like a complete lack of decent Thai back East--what gives? Anyway, Thai Ginger has some really great items on its menu. Highlights? Crying Tiger--maybe just because I love lightly grilled beef and sticky rice, Phad Thai--yummy, and any of their specials, especially if they include basil leaves. Service is rather Germanic, by which I mean the waitresses are efficient but not at all concerned about warm and fuzzies. The decor is pretty and if you sit in just the right area, you just might forget you're at the Redmond Town Center. If you can't get over to Typhoon, Thai Ginger is just as yummy and a bit cheaper. Was craving Thai food and wanted to try out a new place so decided to give Thai Ginger a try. Arrived on a Friday evening and we were seated right away, so there was no waiting. The servers are nice, a little unprofessional in my opinion, but not to the point of being obnoxious/rude. The kitchen is open (as in it's right behind the "bar") so you can smell all the great spices/flavors. The food came out in a timely manner. I think my dish was a little salty (Pad See Ew w/ Tofu), but not sure if this is consistently true. The servings are generous and overall the food was pretty good. 3.5 stars This is a conveniently located restaurant in Redmond Town Center, and I was there yesterday for a late lunch. This is a beautifully decorated restaurant, and a great place to gather with friends, or have a business meal. It is fancier looking than some of the other local Thai food restaurants. I thought the food was solid, but not great. I ordered the Phad Bai Kaplau or Thai Basil Chicken, and it was fresh tasting, and pretty much what I expected. It was heavy on the vegetables, and light on the chicken (which was perfect for lunch). If you have a big appetite, you may wish to order extra chicken which is an option. I enjoyed the complimentary and refreshing broth/vegetable soup they brought at the beginning of the meal. I was happy they had a brown rice option for additional cost. We also ordered the herbal lemon grass tea which was perfect on a cold day. The service was attentive and friendly. There are other Thai restaurants in the area that I prefer, but this is a great option if you're shopping or already in the area. read more

While we "tested drive" the relocation to Redmond, WA (sponsored by my husband's company) , we knew we wanted to live close to the company campus so we stayed local instead of going into Seattle for food, grocery shopping, etc. Both my husband and I love "Thai Ginger" in Redmond Town Center. The Atmosphere and decor is great for small group or couple - warm and cozy. The dishes are delicious and authentic (full of southern asia spice flavour , not americanized), with matching-the-quality price. This is where I first tried thai food years ago and fell in love. Just went back today (10+ years later) and the experience was very disappointing. I walked in the door to pick up my order and waited for a couple minutes for someone to help me. It wasn't a big deal for me to wait - I was in no hurry and the restaurant was busy. Then, a man walks in the door behind me, waiting to be seated. The host, clearly seeing I was there first, seats the man behind me before acknowledging me. Ugh. This Thai restaurant in the Redmond Town Center offers a great dining experience. The decor is extremely attractive and service is both prompt and courteous. The vegetarian options on the menu are rather limited but I like their veggie tempura and yellow curry with Tofu. On the con side, the tables are placed rather close to each other so it feels cramped at the table. I also do not enjoy having to listen to the conversation at the neighbouring table. Great service! I frequent this restaurant about twice a month and the service is always very good. The wait staff is very attentive and I always receive my food within 15-20 minutes of being seated...even when the place is packed, which is most days during lunch and dinner. The food is typical NW Thai fare, it is reasonably priced and flavorful. It may not be the best Thai restaurant I have ever been to but it certainly is very good. Great value for your money. I honestly am not sure why there are so many negative reviews. I am no Thai food expert, but this place was super good. We stopped in for lunch on Saturday. Of course they do not have a special lunch menu on the weekend but that is pretty standard. Yellow curry rice, seriously amazing. We also had chicken phad thai which normally is pretty meh. This was the best phad thai I have ever had. Right amount of spice to it and it was not flavorless and bland like most that I have had. Got the Salmon curry, overall it was great. The salmon itself tasted quite a bit overcooked, but I assumed that could be relatively hard to do better with in the currying process. I couldn't eat the whole thing after an appetizer, so I asked for a box; almost the entire piece of salmon was left. Today I opened it to eat the leftovers, and the salmon was gone. All of the salmon. I'm not even sure how, as I'd mixed a small portion in with the rice, that part wasn't even there. All I got back was rice in sauce; so 15 dollars down the drain. Very good portions , and decently priced considering it's in downtown Redmond. The Phad Kee Mao and yellow and red curries are my favorites....also try the Tod Mun for appetizer.
