Small restaurant, but good quality food and service! Greeted and seated right away with no wait. The guy working was so nice and polite. They have a TV and Thai decor. We tried the pad Thai with tofu & chicken and pork Larb. The food was so good! I think this was the best Larb I've had so far! I'm definitely coming back!

I love Lao style thai food, but the flavors here are not what I'm used to. It's missing some special seasonings. Server was very friendly and attentive .

My friends invited me to join them for dinner here. Grateful for Peter, who knew where to find good parking and to Nadine for driving us to get good Thai food. The employee even remembered her from previous visits :) We started with the Thai Grindz appetizer platter. Everything on it was so tasty. My absolute favorite was the fried fish cake, it had excellent flavor and texture. The calamari, spring rolls, and skewers were also good. Next we had the stuffed chicken wings. Very impressed with their crispy thin coating on the outside and super generous stuffing on the inside. More than enough seasoning for me, I didn't need the dipping sauce. We all enjoyed the shrimp salad. It was a generous serving of fresh lettuce, tomatoes, and cucumbers. Take a look at the jumbo shrimp too! Nicely assembled, I would totally order that again. Then we had the green chicken curry. Even as "mild" this one had a nice kick to it! Goes well with sticky rice of course :) Wonderful mix of chicken, eggplant, and herbs. Last but not least, we enjoyed the Pad Gra Pao Chicken, Peter's favorite. Another yummy dish, just too full to finish and we packed most of that to go. Fast and friendly service, this was certainly an enjoyable dining experience.

Dinner in Honolulu, Hawaii... We were looking on our Yelp apps for somewhere to eat and found Thai Grindz & Laos Cuisine - on the left side of King Street. We found free metered street parking because it was after 6:30pm. We didn't have reservations, but luckily, there was an empty table in the cozy, clean restaurant. I ordered Summer Rolls because I know that they won't be spicy and they're relatively healthy. Even the peanut sauce was tasty! There was a jar of chopped peanuts amongst the bottles of chili sauce and chili oil. I added more peanuts! Yay! Cece ordered Drunken noodles and let me taste some - mmm! Good! Not spicy! She let me take the leftovers home where I finished them off as a midnight snack! Thank you! Overall, it was a great experience. The only thing that could be improved would be the knowledge of the server. He didn't seem to know the menu well and went back and forth to the kitchen to ask questions. However, he was pleasant and polite! I'd go back !

My boyfriend had eaten here with his family before, so after seeing a TikTok about it, I asked him to take me! The restaurant is on the smaller side, but we went on a weekday and were seated pretty quickly. To preface, I don't eat Thai food very often -- but my boyfriend refuses to go anywhere else for Thai, and now I see why! What we ordered: * Tom Yum Soup with seafood * Pineapple Fried Rice with chicken Everything was so delicious! The portions are generous, and the prices are super reasonable for how much food you get. The service was also great -- friendly and attentive, with a cozy, homey vibe. We really appreciated the complimentary house salad while waiting for our food. We'll definitely be back soon!

Ready for the grindz... This newbie in McCully has opened it's doors just four days ago ...January 15th I guess right on South King Street next to Wuwei Chong Cuisine so you know that the most convenient parking would be the metered street parking in front which is free on Sundays so I took full advantage of that and decided to give them a visit. Walking in the vibe is nice and simple with three smaller table for four and one long community table for larger or shared seating is nice and so is the menu as they offer just about it all from appetizers to desserts along with smoothies and cane juice is something you don't usually see is a nice option. I ordered the Pad See Ew and as the staff asked about the protein I just wanted veggies only though sadly when I got home to see chicken was disappointing especially if you don't eat meat and I'm not really a chicken fan in noodles as it's a bit dry which is was in this situation though the price is the same it's just not what I wanted and yes that meant less veggies as well. I also ordered the Lao Sausage as a visit from another Thai place from Terry K ordered it and I loved it decided to give it a try here and is served sliced and though not noted also included a large side of rice was a nice surprise and the homemade sausage was so flavorful with the spices and had just a touch of heat was nice and the Pad See Ew not only was made wrong lacked in flavor for my personal preference and was never asked about the spice level as well. Cute place and is a welcome addition to the area and will definitely be back to give other menu options a try maybe their Green Curry and Cane Juice. Thank you!

I know there's a new Thai place in town so I decided to try it out. I ordered all items to go. This place is pretty small and there was one table with four seated. The pad kee mao was not spicy at all. I'm usually asked what level but I was not this time. If you have a sensitive tongue you could definitely eat this as it is not spicy at all. I ordered ginger chicken for the young adult kid and even though she ate it all she said there was an abundance of onions. If you love onions you would like this dish. I like onions but for her not so much. I also noticed that both dishes have bamboo shoots which many places don't put much in as it has a distinctive taste. I love bamboo shoots so I was happy! We also ordered the sugarcane juice with calamansi. It was pretty sweet and I think we could use a little bit more calamansi but it's OK. This place is street parking but I think there's a small lock behind the restaurant. I will definitely be back to try other items!

Shrimp Salad. Absolutely delicious and is my go to spot when I'm on my way home and not prepared to cook for myself.

Love this chill, easy, no frills, place to eat. This place is great and has drinks and smoothies worth checking out. We also had the fried fish starters and the massaman curry which I forgot to picture. Perfectly fried fish and the curry had the right amount of flavor and texture. Paired with the sticky rice both my friend and myself were content. Hope they stick around, this location is tricky but it's directly across from Zippy's and walking distance from my apartment. My first time ordering I recieved the wrong item. Regular fried rice instead of the pineapple fried rice. I wouldn't have minded if the regular fried rice was still delicious but it was very plain with no flavor. Also, I paid more for the other rice. The second time I ordered- The spring rolls tased as if the oil was very cheap and old. Possibly re used waaay too many times. The pad see ew was mushy. Both curries were very watery and very fishy tasing. Way to much fish sauce used. There was also zero spice to any of the dishes.

Got to try this cute hole-in-the wall spot along S King Street right across Zippys for the first time! They're fairly new but their menu is solid. I tried their Pad see ew with beef, yellow curry with pork and sticky rice, papaya salad, and their fried fish cake. No complaints for any of the dishes - all 10/10. Portion sizes are fairly large for the prices as well, so I recommend sharing family-style. The staff are super friendly and although the space is tight, it just feels like you're eating some home cooked meals in your Aunty's house :) Parking is a little difficult to find but there are some street parking available in the area. They were out of their Lao sausage so I guess I'll just have to come back again!

Amazing food and great vibes. Love this place!! Food was so good we had to come back twice. This is a mom and pop place and that's what I love the most. I felt like I'm at home eating a home cooked meal. Service is also great. Jason was our server and he always made sure we had everything we needed and that we enjoy our food. It's like he was a part of our family.

    Thai Fried Chicken

Beef salad * Beef is tender * Tamarind sauce dressing gives it flavor in one bite. One of my favorite dressing in thai dishes * Portion is a lot for the price Thai fried chicken * Perfectly fried and crispy * Thai sweet chili sauce is always the best dipping sauce for fried chicken * Juicy not at all dry * Cucumber and carrot balances out the fried taste * Very good appetizer that i will order again Love the added two scoops of rice with my meal. Red chicken curry * I got medium spice which does not taste spicy until it slowly hits you in the back of your throat. I could definitely go more spicy; however, it was a good balanced spice * Plenty of chicken, bamboo, eggplant, long beans, bell pepper * A little but on the sweet side but i love the creamy broth * Surprisingly for take out, the soup is still hot as if just came out of the kitchen. The service was great. I'll definitely come back.

I got there probably around the last time I was able to be seated, but the staff were very friendly. The order did seem to take a little bit longer than I would've expected, but they were still pretty busy considering it was like an hour before closing. The Thai tea was nice and fresh + not overly sweet, the salad was so delicious, the drunken noodles were flavorful, and the sticky rice was soooo good. Would recommend and go back if I visit again.

Their restaurant is so cool tho. Upon walking in, you sign in if needed, wait to be seated. As you walk in, there's a pretty decor, I would say photo opp, but there's a table and stuff blocking. They should clear that area, so people can take pictures with it lol but when you get seated, you walk through, and they take you to the back for outdoor seating. There is no indoor seating. They have the commercial tents, and pretty outdoor decor out there too, like lights and stuff. And there's a koi pond. Bathroom is back there. The only sucky part is if it was to rain hard or have strong winds, I wonder how they deal with that. But make sure you go when it's nice weather. It's BYOB!! They have a good amount of seating too. Our go to for Olay's is the Lao style papaya salad. We eat it with chicharon, and I think they have option to order a side chicharon, but we were prepared and went store before heading over to buy bag chicharon and they allowed it for us instead of spending the same amount for a handful, you get more when you BYOBC - bring your own bag chicharon lol I just made that up. If it's BYOB, I'm sure they'll allow it. We eat that with sticky rice. Omg so bomb. I like to get the stuffed chicken wings, we ordered the calamari. Was good. We got yellow chicken curry. The wife wanted to try the beef jerky, she likes it. We take the sticky rice and roll it in to a ball, and dip it in the bagooong papaya salad sauce and even the curry. Eat it with the papaya salad and stuffed chicken!! Omg so good! One thing I forgot to mention, they are located in the heart of Chinatown, on hotel street, so you gotta find parking. Street parking or pay for public parking. Would we come here again, definitely! 10/10 recommend. Check out Olay's for your Lao food fix!

Cheun Wea was great reviews and they have a great authentic looking selection. They're located in the Maunakea Market food court and they might be the only Thai/Lao place there. When I go to this food court, I usually am there for Maguro Bros, but I was on the hunt for Lao sausage and Maguro Bros was closed anyway. The shared space is honestly a little claustrophobic for me. And there are some interesting smells. I prefer to eat outside or take my food to go, which isn't a problem. I stood at the counter for a bit before the nice lady worker acknowledged me. She called me sister lol. I asked for a sausage and a side of sticky rice. It was $7 and came in a ziploc bag. It was the perfect light lunch. The sausage was a bit spicy, but it was really good. I also got a mango sticky rice, which was affordable and delicious. It didn't have any sauce, but that would have made it too messy. It was basically a mango sticky rice musubi. At least that's how I ate it lol. I'll definitely be back for the sausage. Maybe next time I'll try some of the other entree dishes.

Wherever I travel I always make it a habit to Yelp some good Laotian eats if possible. You can imagine how excited I was to stumble across Cheun Wea Lao Thai Fast Food. I immediately bookmarked and hoped in the car to make my way to Chinatown. As a forewarning this business is located in the food court @ stall #117. Avoid walking around like a crazy person the way I did- this stall can easily get overlooked if you aren't careful. Do not expect to find the "Cheun Wea Lao Thai" signage, all we saw during our visit was "Thai Food". Food for the visit consisted of: Amok- steamed fish curry Lao Style Papaya Salad [extra spicy] Seafood Pad Thai Overall I would rate this visit 3 stars. I get that this is a fast food joint but all the promises of "authentic" Lao food really had me anticipating MORE. Dishes were held back on the spice level and the fermented fishiness that Lao food is known for so it simply didn't hit the spot for me. Maybe the traffic coming through is more Americanized and the business caters to their palate?? Either way, customer service is amazing from the owner & employees. Items are made fresh and are able to be customized to your liking. Definitely worth a try...

I heard they will keep this space for special events. The restaurant is quite busy and I'm glad we had reservations. Good thing I was there prior to lunch hour opening, otherwise we may lose our reservations since the person who made reservations tends to be habitual in arriving late. We dined in May, but it's been awhile since I first dined here. I preferred dining in Chinatown during lunch time than at dinner. Our waiter was really nice and helpful. I forgot his name, but I remembered that his eyeglasses that he wore was cool/funny, since the frames for each eye didn't match the other eye! lol. Funny it wasn't me who first noticed it. One was square frame and the other was a round frame! The restaurant doesn't do anything special for birthdays except may write Happy Birthday in chocolate on the dessert plate that you purchase for the birthday person. Their desserts are unique and refreshing. I think there are some rotating desserts /flavors like their seasonal menu for their main menu. I guess you can always keep coming back without being bored of the menu! I was bummed to see a previous dish posted of a pasta that I wanted to try that wasn't on the current spring seasonal menu! When we dined for brunch over the weekend, I was able to get the Hainan chicken with the crispy roast pork combo. It was very filling , tasty and satisfying. I do love ginger sauce on the cold ginger chicken but sometimes the chicken is just okay. This Hainan chicken was really good and the chicken was really moist! I thought it was the best I've tried! It was good that I wanted to takeout one last time in August before they moved! No more the 50/50 combo with the crispy roast pork on the lunch menu during the weekday. It was on the spring menu. Of course it's best to eat it in the restaurant than for take out. Bathroom is a must for me when dining out and they had only one shared bathroom for everyone! There was a guy who tried to make several attempts but wasn't successful, since there was always someone in the restroom. I'm glad the waiter told me there was a bigger separate bathroom with several stalls for men and ladies upstairs. You go straight through the kitchen to catch the elevator and to another kitchen /storage area! Thank Goodness! Best wishes at your new location. You offer yummy and tasty food!

Review for Indochine 1938…read more Outstanding food and service undermined by unacceptable cigar smoke exposure. We've dined here 10-12 times over the years (including during COVID) and have always had wonderful experiences--until this visit. First, a high five to the chef, kitchen, servers, and bussers. The food was excellent, our server's recommendations were spot on, and the team is clearly working hard under pressure. Even the manager and host, though overwhelmed, were trying to accommodate. However, the cigar smoke situation is unacceptable in a dining environment. We were offered outdoor seating and immediately encountered active cigar smoking. While it may be noted somewhere on the menu, it is not clearly communicated or reasonably expected, especially for returning guests who have never experienced this here before. Even inside, the layout allows smoke to drift into the dining area. By the end of the evening--and into the next morning--I experienced significant allergy symptoms directly tied to that exposure. As we were leaving, other guests were asking where the smoke was coming from--only to see people actively smoking right at the entrance. This is where ownership needs to step in. For a public-facing restaurant, this raises concerns about guest safety, basic dining standards, and potential compliance with local smoking ordinances. At minimum, there needs to be clear separation, ventilation, and enforcement--especially at the entrance. People can absolutely make their own choices--but guests also deserve to clearly know what they're walking into. If there is going to be active cigar or cigarette smoke as part of the environment, that should be clearly disclosed upfront, not discovered after being seated. For those with allergies, asthma, or sensitivities to smoke--this may not be the right environment, and that's important to know ahead of time. Bottom line: Your staff and kitchen are doing everything right--but they are being undermined by an avoidable environmental issue. We would return--but only if this is addressed.

The vibe is warm and really fits the restaurant's name, with a cozy 1930s feel. And bonus points from me for the comfortable seating--I'm always a fan of a place where you can actually relax and enjoy your meal. Overall, this is definitely one to add to your must-try list. SO GLAD THEY OPEN LATE! Food took about 10-15min to arrive. Items Order: 10/10 Pork Thai Boat $17 - I got egg noodles because they ran out of wide noodles but still delicious! Noodles were cooked fine, broth came out piping hot. Not that spicy but so rich in authentic flavor! Added their spice in the side and it was amazing! Generous portions of crispy pork (they pan fry it before), some meatballs, and fish balls. 9/10 Pork Pad Thai $17 - Same amazing crispy juicy pork. Noodles were incorrect/not typical. They use pho or the thin rice noodles for their pad thai. Despite that, the noodle texture was still good: chewy bouncy noodles that soaked up the sauce very well. Flavor was authentic perfect sweet savory and sour combo!

I've been making it a point to try something new every time I come, and I always leave happy and full! Most recently, I got the beef boat noodles, Tom Yum style, and they were so flavorful! I already want to get them again. Beware, medium spicy is very spicy! I'm glad I ordered the fried tofu with sweet chili sauce to balance the heat. I can't recommend this place enough! It's such a solid spot to enjoy Thai food.

Most spicy dishes spice level can also be customized. So far the spicy dishes that my husband and I really enjoyed are toothpick lamb with cumin, kung pao chicken (yes the authentic one), frog with double chili pepper, sliced crisp grass carp w/ pickled cabbage and chili, and mao xue wang. The non-spicy dishes we really enjoyed were sliced crisp grass carp with garlic sauce, tomato and scrambled egg (classic dish), sautéed eggplant and green beans (the eggplant was cooked perfectly), and of course sautéed water spinach with garlic. The price is also very reasonable and the food is prepared quickly, both for dine in and take out. We look forward to going back and trying their other dishes!

The food here is spicy. Spicy numbing mala style type of spice. We were so excited that they had lamb! Turns out it was ground lamb stir fried in a lot of red peppers. We didn't mind the spice. It felt odd picking at such small pieces of lamb...with a toothpick. Yes, this dish was not considered an appetizer and it was served with a toothpick. Everything else was tasty and I asked them to adjust the spice level. They were very accommodating.

Stuffed chicken wings - 5 stars - 4 chicken wings stuffed like spring rolls, but in a crispy batter. Green curry - 5 stars - very flavorful, love the taste. Rad Na - 5 stars - best delicious noodles I've had because it has a sweet wine taste to it. Lots of beef, but not as much noodles as I expected. The sauce has great flavor, I wanted to bring it home, but my son finished it all, even the sauce! Thai Tea - 4 stars - strong with a charcoal flavor. My son loves it but too sweet for me. Service - 5 stars - waters filled, waiter was great. However, they do charge 3% fee for using credit card. Parking - lots of parking in the back on the second floor if full in front. I do not recommend parking in the lower 1st floor parking lot where the bars are even if it is shaded.

The lady was very friendly.

This is my first review of 2026!…read more Tonight I enjoyed the sticky rice with chicken anticucho and it is my favorite meal of 2026 so far. The chicken thighs were beautifully seasoned and slightly charred. The meat was cooked all the way through yet still juicy with bone in thigh. The purple sticky rice was perfectly done and I love the texture of sticky rice in general. The plate also came with sliced cucumbers and pickled mustard greens (reminiscent of Vietnamese pickled mustard greens - but in a much more vibrant green color). My favorite part of the meal was the tart and aromatic sauce that came in the meal. If you're not a fan of lime juice and fish sauce, you may want to use sparingly. However, I was thoroughly enjoying the sauce and when accompanied with a bit of the mustard greens, it toned down the sour aspect of the flavor profile. Overall, so delicious and I would love to find them again and enjoy more of their menu items!

Our food was ready in about 10 mins. One skewer and one short ribs cut in half (3 bones), served with cucumber slices, pickled veggies, and chili sauce. There was a lot of rice. The flavor was ok - wouldve liked the anticucho to be grilled a bit longer. Thought it was pricey for what it was.

I just looked today and it is now closed until June 5. Maybe they are doing renovations. We came for Mother's Day. I was a little nervous because it's been years since we have eaten here and it appeared to look like a lot of tourists eating here. I'm Thai and I was wondering if I was going to be disappointed. I remember the food being OK so I kept an open mind. I decided to order something I normally would not which is the clay pot crab with glass noodles. it was OK. The crab didn't have a huge prominent taste and glass noodles are just meh to me. We also ordered the crab fried rice which was exceptional. I would definitely order that again. There was so much flavor in the rice. I also ordered a yum salad with tofu. That was also good. I loved the chili lime dressing and the added cilantro made it taste even more fresh. The lettuce leaves were huge though. I'm not sure why they were the size of a hamburger patty. It made for eating the salad challenging and messy. My kid had the salmon curry. She loved it. She doesn't handle spice so she asked for a level 2. Level two was spicy for her but she was able to eat it. Being Thai I did not feel it was spicy at all. But it did have a little bit of heat. The Mr ordered the crispy garlic chicken. It was a huge plate of it. He said it was good. He also ordered beef masuman. I will say that the portion seemed tiny. He said it was also good. I actually was pleasantly surprised this time around as I remember coming years ago and it was just OK. About the music. I did read lots of comments about their music Choice. It's not classical but jazz. To my astonishment it was extremely loud. The music Choice was not the issue but the loudness of it. I'm not sure if they tried to make it loud to sound like live music or not. We couldn't even talk to each other because we would've ended up shouting. That's really our only complaint.
