    Crispy Rice Salad
    Leila H.

I have craving some Thai food. So I have this place near my work area, and I have order a the crispy rice salad. The server was kind of rude and did not really ask me if i want pork or tofu. But later ask me how spicy i would like this. The food itself was good but a little bland. I was able to eat it the whole. maybe if I add a little spiciness then it will taste better or maybe it was actual hot the food since i had to take it go.

Disappointing Service and Unexpected $16 Charge

The food was okay, but unfortunately the service was very disappointing. Our server was rude and made the experience uncomfortable. What bothered us the most was being charged an additional $16 service charge for the party when the tip/service charge was already included with our group. We were not given a clear explanation of why this additional charge was added. I understand that restaurants may have automatic gratuity or service charges for larger parties, but charging an additional $16 when the service charge was already included should have been clearly explained. The food was just okay, but the poor service and unexpected extra charge made this an experience I would not want to repeat. Management should be more transparent about these charges and provide better customer service.

Dinner in Kaka'ako, Honolulu, Hawaii... Located on the corner of Cooke Street and Ilaniwai Street, Pattaya Thai is a well-known establishment. The obstacle might be the parking, but I went on a Sunday when metered street parking is free! Inside, it's quite spacious, air-conditioned, and nicely decorated! I liked the big screen TV - especially when it showed Bruno Mars and Lady Gaga songs! Note: There's outside patio dining in the back and sidewalk dining in the front. Service was efficient and polite. Later, the friendly owner (I think she was) gave us a plate of complimentary sushi - with Sriracha aioli sauce on the top. Ouch... LOL! Sushi is their new menu item. The server took the sushi menu away before I could get a photo. The sidewalk sign indicated that they're now serving sushi. I ordered the yellow curry with chicken... and a side order of rice because it's not included. It was really good! I also got the Drunken Noodles with tofu and "zero spice". However, I could see the chili oil... and i could feel the heat. I mentioned to the server, but she kind of shrugged. When she returned to the table with the bill, she asked if we wanted dessert... No thank you! We were so full that we took leftovers home!

Not sure if they have a different chef now but the Tom Kha isn't what it used to be and lacks flavor profile from before. Tried their prad krapow and it tasted blander than it looked. Crispy rice nam kow is okay. Also, the food has never really come out quickly before but now it takes even longer. Was given an estimate of 25-30 minutes but it ended up taking an hour for takeout. Probably won't be back for a while.

My first time coming here! The fiancé and I were out a little later than expected and were hungry! Looked up for late night food in town and saw this place. I've always wanted to try but just never had the time. They are open till 2am and last call for kitchen is at 1am. Despite some of the reviews, I honestly think the food was delicious!! We ordered the shrimp summer roll, panang curry with sticky rice, pad kee mao or drunken noodles, and the fried calamari. They even gave us a sample of their sushi as well. I haven't had Thai food in a while so that really hit the spot. Everything was seasoned well and tasted really good! They had a cute little patio seating as well so that was awesome!! Cute casual date night spot if anything! The aunty there that served us was really nice! It wasn't too busy when we got there but then more people came in and I think only had 2 servers. But my water was refilled and our food came out as well. I would say things take time to make so just be patient if anything. Overall I would definitely come back to try other items on the menu. It's a little pricey but not like super crazy expensive either! They have a few parking spots along the street or if you're lucky to find street parking in the area as well.

Stop by myself at around 9pm. Restaurant was practically empty and I felt like an intruder. Lady sitting at the bar asked where I wanted to sit so I chose outside. I ordered a pad see ew, minutes later, the chef came out with with a complimentary assortment of sushi. I was impressed at how thin the pieces were and it tasted wonderful. Minutes later, entree arrived piping hot. Reminded me of eating in Bankok. It was that authentic! Great food but definitely needs to work on being more hospitable if they want to build business!!!

Originally opened under the name of "Pattaya" in 2006 at Queen St by chef/owner Ratchanee "Yuri" Senckowske, it closed permanently for a few years and reopened under "Pattaya Thai" in 2021 at nearby Cooke and Ilaniwai Sts. (The name "Pattaya" is a popular beach resort city in Thailand known for its nightlife, beaches, and cultural activities.) Owner Yuri brought in chef Maew Voecks, who started cooking at age 9 for 13 siblings and had more than a decade of professional culinary experience. Pattaya Thai is a casual family-run Thai eatery known for its authentic and flavorful Thai cuisine mixed with Laos influence. Its menu is quite extensive that includes many appetizers, salads, curries, noodles, stir fries, special dishes, seafood platters, soups, rice dishes, and desserts. There are vegetarian options, and they recently started offering sushi, blending Thai and Japanese culinary traditions. Pattaya Thai is known for its rich curries like evil curry, crispy rice salad, drunken noodles, and Pad See Ew. Our son was visiting from Toronto and had wanted to eat Thai food. Since we have not been to Pattaya Thai and it had positive Yelp reviews, we decided to have lunch there. We had the following: * Chicken wings. Served piping hot and crispy, the large tasty wings came with 3 slices of cucumber and a sweet chili sauce. Delicious! * Evil curry chicken with rice (lunch special). This is red curry with coconut milk, cabbage, bell peppers, onion, carrots, kaffir lime leaves, and Thai basil. The special came with jasmine rice, whereas, if ordered by itself, you would have had to order the rice separately. The curry was flavorful but not spicy enough. * Salt & pepper shrimp. Not to be confused with Chinese style of cooking, this was Thai style stir-fried shrimp tossed with salt and pepper. The good-sized flavorful shrimps had a light crunch that were stir-fried with veggies and served piping hot. The dish was just slightly spicy. Our orders were very delicious with a nice balance of flavors and freshness of ingredients; however, they were not spicy enough, which was partly our fault. We were so engrossed in conversation when ordering that we forgot to request a higher level of spiciness which our son enjoys. Which brings me to comment on our experience of Pattaya Thai's customer service, or lack of. We arrived a little after the restaurant opened for lunch at 11a. There was a lone staff member in the front who took our orders, served them, and processed payment. I felt customer service was lacking due to the following: * We were not asked about customized spice levels and because of that, the dishes were not spicy enough to our liking. * Midway through eating, hubby noticed a tray of 4 containers of spicy pepper condiments that appeared to be house-made. He went up to the counter to grab a tray for us. The pickled jalapenos and other hot peppers helped to add spiciness to our dishes. This tray of peppers was not offered to us. * I requested a small amount of crushed peanuts which I like to sprinkle on my curry and rice. We were surprised when we received our bill that we were charged $1.00 for the peanuts. The peanuts were not a lot, and a small amount of ground peanuts are usually complimentary at other Thai restaurants. * We had some leftovers and were charged 30 cents for a take-out box. * The staff person spoke very little words to us and being our first time here, did not explain what their signature items were and the layout of the menu items. The staff person seemed to be more engrossed in tending to another matter although she stayed in the front the entire time. Not very friendly, personable, nor welcoming, and we were the only diners there the entire time. We don't think owner Yuri was present at the restaurant while we were there, as she would have never had customer service fall in this way. The restaurant's dining area is spacious, as there is seating indoors, outside in the back in a covered patio (pet friendly), and in the front outside near the front entrance. Hours of operation are daily 11a to 2a the next day, with karaoke during the late-night hours. Parking is an issue here, as there is lack of designated parking for the restaurant. Limited metered street parking is available. As we were there on a federal holiday, many of the businesses in a small complex were closed across the street, so we parked where the old Karen's Kitchen was, where we could keep an eye on our car from the restaurant. Despite the lack of customer service, the food items we ordered were authentic and delicious! We hope to return to try other dishes on the menu and will be more outspoken of its customer service! Support local!

Service: Great Ambiance: Indoor and outdoor seating. What makes this place is the outdoor seating at night. Set up with cute lights and table candle lights. Food: Typical thai offerings that are solid. Would rec the panang curry

I'm finally getting around to writing a review for Pattaya Thai located on Cooke Street. Pattaya Thai is another option for authentic local Thai food when I'm craving it. I like getting their crispy salad and pad see ew (stir fried chow fun). I've had it at other restaurants and it's pretty good here. If you're adventurous and can handle the spice, auntie makes one mean Laos papaya salad. Parking is street metered or along the wall of their property. They don't have a designated parking lot.

Rice packed in an open sandwich bag lol
    Keli F.

I just had a delivery from your restaurant and one of the orders of rice was packaged in a sanitary container and the other was thrown into this open sandwich bag and then just thrown into my delivery bag. This is lowkey unsanitary and very unprofessional - super disappointing, was really excited to try your restaurant for the first time.

people are friendly here but portion its very small. the chicken we ordered is just size of one chicken thigh cut up. one and a half scoop of rice. tom ka soup is very good lots of seafood. i dont recommend the chicken the portion is very small for the price (i was shocked) but the soup is good.

    Outdoor seating and dog friendly
    Malia D.

I swear, I've never had Thai cuisine in Hawaii anywhere as good as Pattaya Thai by Chef Yuri ‍ I frequent this spot, and never had a mediocre dish. Also, where else on island has outdoor seating, dog friendly and BYOB AND THEY OFFER KAREOKE?!!! Seriously, check it out for yourself. So, I order any and all things on the menu, everything is killer, fresh and flavorful. Pad Gra Prow, is epic no one in the state has better, and same for her Pad Thai and Drunken noodles These dishes are absolutely perfect at Pattaya. So, go, go check um out

If you're looking for authentic Lao food, this place definitely delivers. We ordered the Soop Noor Mai (bamboo shoot salad), Lao-style Som Tum, Beef Red Curry with jasmine rice, and Seen Haeng (beef jerky). The standout dish for me was the Soop Noor Mai. It was unlike anything I've had before, with an earthy, herbaceous flavor and plenty of texture from the shredded bamboo shoots, toasted rice powder, fresh herbs, and greens. Every bite had something different going on, making it both interesting and deeply satisfying. The Lao-style papaya salad was fresh, vibrant, and packed with bold flavors. The beef red curry was rich, creamy, and fragrant with tender beef that paired perfectly with the jasmine rice. The only dish that missed the mark for me was the Seen Haeng. While the flavor was good, the beef was cooked a little too long and ended up drier than I prefer. I personally like Lao beef jerky with a bit more tenderness and chew. Everything else was excellent, and the relaxing garden setting made the experience even better. If you're craving authentic Lao cuisine in Honolulu, Olay's is well worth a visit. I'll definitely be back to explore more of their menu.

Since it was later in the evening, there were only a few tables filled, so we were seated right away and had plenty of time to check out the menu. My wife already knew exactly what she wanted--the Thai Beef Salad. I had my eye on the Thai Fried Chicken, and we added an order of Pad Kee Mao (Drunken Noodles). We requested it mild spicy--and definitely not Thai spicy, because we know better! There were a couple other things we wanted to try but we didn't want to overdo it with just the two of us. The food came out fast. First the Drunken Noodles, and wow... that was ono. The thick, chewy noodles reminded me a little of a chow/look fun, tossed in a a sauce with tender beef. Every bite was packed with flavor. Next came the Thai Beef Salad and the Thai Fried Chicken. The salad had that classic tangy dressing with vinegar and fish sauce that paired perfectly with the beef. If I had one small kine suggestion, it would be to add just a little more beef, but the flavors were on point. The fried chicken was cooked to crispy perfection--lightly seasoned so you could actually taste the chicken. Dipped into the Thai sweet chili sauce, you know the one, it was the perfect combination of crunchy, savory, and sweet. Even though we were pretty full, there was no way we were not going to order dessert. We shared the Mango Sticky Rice, which was the perfect sweet and tart ending to a great meal. Last but not least, one Thai iced coffee to go. Yeah it's late but wanted to stay up and binge watch a couple of episodes of a K-drama, don't judge. Overall, Siam Garden Café delivered. Great food, friendly service, quick turnaround, and now with later Sunday hours, it's an even better option when those late-night Thai cravings hit. We'll definitely be back to work our way through the rest of the menu.

After a recent visit to Siam Garden Cafe, I thought I would post a brief update/review:…read more I ventured to SGC with my mom, brother, and SIL last month for lunch (on a Saturday, no less). We arrived shortly before 11:30am, and thankfully we were seated immediately (in a booth!) as there was only 1 group dining (this would be the antithesis when we departed as the restaurant was packed after 12:00pm). We got settled in our booth and looked over the menu. Collectively, we ordered/shared: Spicy Eggplant Pad Thai with shrimp Papaya Salad Siam Jungle Curry with chicken Steamed Fish with Soy Sauce I honestly couldn't decide which dish was my favourite, as I thought they were all a generous portion and flavorful. My mom complimented the eggplant and steamed fish repeatedly, and while I also favoured the eggplant, I found myself gravitating to the curry throughout the meal. My SIL also liked the fish and eggplant, while my brother had many good things to say about the pad Thai. We did take some leftovers home, and as we packed up the food I wondered to myself why I hadn't returned to SGC sooner. SERVICE The staff friendly, patient, and very polite. BOTTOM LINE We will certainly be back.

First time visiting and I gotta say, this place is delicious!…read moreAunty had on the traditional attire and was kind as can be. Summer rolls were wrapped pretty with peanut sauce as the dip. Fried chicken app was amazing, nice and crispy, fried just enough. Fried rice was nicely seasoned, tossed beautifully in the wok, with big pieces of egg and onions, with chicken as our choice of protein. Cucumber on the side for a nice crunch. What really stole the show here, was their papaya salad. We always order it Lao style, with extra funk and medium spicy which this place does very well. For non spice eaters, they are tame with their spices here. With the right amount of cabbage, and lettuce for dipping and wrapping. Prices are par with other Thai shops, you can even find Lao classics on the menu. Nice and clean, delicious Thai tea, and easy parking. Will definitely return.

As some reviews indicate, we have noticed that sometimes we get a "what-in-the-world" experience with a few food orders: the lack in flavor, tenderness of protein and even customer service. However, when taking my overall experience, I wish I could add a half-point to make it a 3.5 for Thai Village. Our favorite Thai food orders include: Chicken Satay, Tofu Pad Thai, sticky rice and yellow curry with a side of a papaya salad. Yum! Parking: If you arrive during peak hours, parking outside the establishment will be challenging. However, parking abounds on the street (metered) and in the bigger lot located mountainside (mauka) of the smaller lot located right outside of Thai Village. Restrooms: They do not have their own restroom; all establishments share the same key-only restroom, located in the center of the main building, ground level.
