I went to Thai House to grab lunch and had a Pad Thai lunch special with shrimp. The meal was pretty standard, but good. It didn't blow my mind but I also don't think it was nearly as bad as some of the other reviews indicate. The restaurant is much bigger than it looks from the outside. My family has come to this restaurant many times and always loved it; I went for the first time today and can attest to the good food, gret menu selection and fabulous service that we were given! Jeff, our server was super attentive, friendly and remembered my family members. The ambiance is very cozy and warm and elegant and I enjoyed my experience all around. We ordered through ubereats. We ordered the pad thai. We tossed it in the garbage. Is was sickly sweet. Sauce tasted like it they opened a jar up. Noodles were over cooked and stuck together like glue. We ordered the black bean clams. Expensive since the container was mostly empty. Again the sauce tasted like it came from a jar with some water added to it. We also order the green curry. It was good but tasted like something out of a package you buy from grocery store. I read other peoples review and saw that someone found a cockroach in there food. I am not surprise but I am disgusted. So hard to find good restaurants in North Vancouver. Dropped by Thai House for dinner on a Monday night, it peaked our interest as many other restaurants were closed around the area. Atmosphere - a lot of decorations and interesting wood work inside the restaurant. They've a wall lined with booths as well as a private room. One thing I think can be improved is putting padding/cushioning on the back of the booth seats as well lowering the height of the table. Some walls can also use a fresh coat of paint. I do love the big vase at the entrance though. Some plates can also be replaced as there were multiple chips on them. Food - we ordered the combination for 2. It was $53. The set came with 2 chicken satay skewers, 2 noodle wrapped shrimp, a chicken curry with coconut rice, and prawn stir fry with beans and bell peppers. Finally dessert is mango ice cream. Overall I think the value is similar as ordering à la carte. The chicken satay were tender, very good. The noodle shrimp on the other hand, you can taste the lye water used to make the noodles. The curry was flavourful, the chicken was a bit tough, but not bad. The prawn and bean stir fry was the better dish. Really nice flavour and the vegetables were still crispy. One thing I didn't get was coconut milk/flavour from the rice. It tastes and smells just like regular jasmine rice cooked with water. Service - due to covid, there were only 2-3 tables when we arrived. They didn't have a host at the entrance, but I think it's to reduce staffing cost. I ordered lunch through a food delivery service and never received the food. I called the restaurant and the person was not helpful. I was told that the driver keeps the food if I did not receive the order when I offered to pick up the food. I went through the delivery service help line and was told the driver could not find address or get ahold of me by phone. This is my go-to place when craving Thai food. They're always very fast and the lunch menu is very affordable. I ordered the pad si ew which was very tasty. It had plenty of vegetables and the sauce was perfect (not too salty/not too much soy sauce), but I wish it had more noodles in it. read more

Nice restaurant hidden away along the esplanade on lower Lonsdale. Thai is always a good option, but there's not really a lot to offer here on the North Shore. This place wasn't bad, but not quite as good as Pink Elephant downtown Vancouver. I had Pad Sewu (?) with chicken. Lol. Not too bad. My partner had Pad Thai which he also thought was just okay. We ordered about 8 dishes and ALL the dishes we order were delicious, all unique flavours to each one. The dishes were fragrant and fresh. I'm writing this because I went to another Thai restaurant in Burnaby tonight and it was not even close in comparison. Thai house would be a 10 and the Thai restaurant (completely different restaurant not affiliated with the Thai House) in Burnaby would be a 2. So I just had to write this review. We had ordered a few items from the Thai House North Vancouver for Valentine's day, including Pad Khing, butterfly prawns, and sweet and sour chicken. I am guessing the restaurant might have undergone new management (I'm not 100% sure) as the food did not taste like what it used to 7+ years ago. The butterfly prawns were not butterflied and tasted like they were out of a captain high liner box. The worst part was when we opened the sweet and sour chicken to find two or three good-sized pieces of chicken that the edges were not even slightly cooked (see picture); otherwise, completely RAW! I called the restaurant to ask for a manager. I was advised the manager was too busy to come to the phone. I called back a second time. Some lady answered the phone, and I asked for the manager again. She replied, "he is supposed to call you back or something, maybe." My response was that I would like to speak to him immediately. He came onto the phone, and I asked for his name. He replied that his name was 'Michael.' I mentioned the problem to him, and he barely acknowledged the problem and seemed hesitant to offer any compensation. Finally, he asked if I wanted to bring it back and get a new one. Given that we are over 10km away, we said 'no.' He then offered to provide a complimentary sweet and sour the next time we order. I said I would see and call him back. After discussing with my wife, I called back and asked for Michael. At first, the person who answered the phone said, "we don't have a Michael here." Then I said, "Michael - The manager." I was put on hold, and he came back onto the phone. I advised the manager that we would prefer a refund for the dish as we would not be back at the restaurant. He then informed me that it is not their policy to refund a dish; they can only offer a credit. My thoughts were that a refund should be issued for uncooked food. This chicken was not just slightly pink - it was COMPLETELY RAW! A horrible experience. The food is not the same as it once used to be (perhaps a change in ownership) and atrocious customer service. I've had 3 or 4 of the lunch menu items, and they've all been tasty and medium spice (despite being rated 4 chilli peppers!) The lower-rated reviews are a puzzlement. I went there with three other people to celebrate my uncle's birthday. It was a great dining and service experience. The restaurant interior was clean and modern looking. hostesses dressed like Cactus Club servers. We went there on a sunny Saturday evening, beautiful by the water. We had two Entertainment coupons and I was worried it would compromise the quality of the service received. Our male server said that they love coupon users, gave us time to decide and even guidance on what to order. I went with ostrich stir fry, seafood fried rice (no egg), vegetable Pad Thai and a curried chicken dish (plus a bottle of wine) All the dishes (and the wine) arrived within reasonable amount of time and servers came by no less than seven times how we were doing. It's good when they are friendly and attentive. The dishes were all delicious, beautifully presented. Upfront, the dishes did not look big but they were indeed filling. The ostrich meat looked and tasted like beef, I loved the experience...and really should dine at Lonsdale near the water more often! read more

Ive been very excited to try this place. Finally made the trek out to the north shore. Was promptly seated. Sat and waited, and waited and waited. After 10 minutes of absolutely no acknowledgement we left. We told the guy at the front we were leaving because we couldnt wait anymore. We asked what was going on, and he said he had a big order he was taking on the phone. ??? There were other servers in the restaurant. It's a real shame that they were so mismanaged yesterday. When I called to talk (nicely) to them about it they literally could not have cared any less if they'd tried. We headed here when our fave Thai restaurant was closed for vacation this Mother's Day. It was my first Mother's Day and I had been craving Thai, and this was such a let down! First, why is this place so damn expensive?!? It cost $14 for some veggies in black bean sauce and the portion was so small and was 70% cabbage, which is CHEAP. Secondly, the chicken in the red curry was so dry it literally had the texture of sawdust. I've never had curry like this where the protein is inedible. The sauce was delicious, but I didn't pay for sauce... Thirdly, our Pad Thai came as one congealed clump of noodles with shrimp that hadn't been deveined!! We ordered 3 dishes and it was $55 and not a single one of them was executed properly :-( read more

I have been going to the Thai House for over 20 years. I have tried Richmond, Vancouver, and North Vancouver Richmond was the best of the lot. Unfortunately has closed. We miss the Lunch soup Richmond used to sell North Vancouver was my backup. I usually have great service there, but last night was not a great experience at all. I doubt we will be back They used to have a Yellow Curry Chicken dish that included Bell Peppers, Pineapple, and Bamboo, shoots. (Old Style) I have had no problems ordering that in the past, except last night, and was flatly told NO. The new style has carrots and potato (no veggies) I considered leaving the restaurant at that point, but decided to stay The best part of the meal was the Tom Kah soup The Pad Thai has gone down in quality The Yellow Chicken Curry was not made Old Style - don't like the new The Coconut Rice was barely Coconut flavoured I only gave two stars because the Tom Kah soup was good. All the reviews for this restaurant location are a mixed bag but I agree with the average score of 3 stars. We came here over the weekend for a late lunch (around 3pm) so it wasn't busy at all. There were about five other tables occupied with two servers running around taking orders, bringing out food for the patrons, and getting their bills. We ordered... The matsaman curry with beef. I was displeased that it didn't automatically come with rice and to add a small bowl of rice is $2.70. I had my mind set on the curry and when the server asked me if I wanted to add rice I feel it's a little steep already paying $16 for the curry dish. One simply cannot eat this curry without a carb! The curry itself was delicious and came with lots of slices of beef, albeit almost every bite of beef was a little too chewy. The khao pad sapparod came out at the same time as my curry. The details of this dish entails "fresh pineapple, peanuts & raisins topped with pork floss & egg served in a fresh pineapple shell". Lots of things off with this dish that we weren't told about. Hardly fresh pineapple - few canned pieces at best. Peanuts were subbed for cashews. No raisins. Not fried with egg. Not served in a fresh pineapple shell. If you ask me, it's a completely different dish! Hubby ordered this particularly because he likes his rice fried with an egg. We complained to our server about the cashews/peanuts sub and the egg. His excuse was that they haven't been frying the rice with egg for a very long time and they would have to make a new fried rice if he wanted it that way. Well, yes. It's why we ordered it. Anyway, he took it back and brought it back 10 minutes later with some egg pieces. And still the cashews. At this point we were almost done sharing my curry dish so it wasn't worth another complaint. Luckily we had an entertainment book coupon we planned to use (buy one entree, get one free up to $15) so it was less painful in the end. read more

Price: I went for the lunch special with some co-workers and for $7.50 for some chicken stir fry and rice isn`t a bad price at all considering that you can easily spend that on fast food. Haven`t seen their dinner menu, therefore, cannot comment on the prices in regards to that. Menu: Good lunch special options. Basic stir fry`s, curry`s and rice dishes at lunch portions. Service: Great service, not steller, however, they were fast and friendly but not personable even though for lunch in the area they weren`t that busy. Food: I haven`t eaten a lot of Thai food, therefore, I cannot make a comparison, however, for what it was, it tasted great by my standards...the chicken ginger stir fry and rice. I love their Curry Noodle soup in their lunch menu. I have had it many times and it was always excellent. Portion was always good too, enough that you don't feel the typical feeling of lacking a bit of something after noodle soup. Well today, I ordered the same noodle soup and it arrived on the table. Guess what. Size of portion has shrunk down to like half. I am serious. It well maybe the shrinking of 30% and I have felt it such a way. Same good quality though. I asked the waitress about size and she gave me this extremely rude blank stare and just walked away as I asked silly question. We were at Stanley Park one night. My husband noticed the Lions Gate Bridge and decided it would be something cool to drive across. And, so, the next day we drove across the bridge to North Vancouver and meandered our way to Lonsdale Quay. (I'd been there via SeaBus before, but never by car.) It was lunchtime and we were hungry. Being the family Thai food fanatic, when I spotted the Thai House, I had to go check out the menu. My husband is less enthusiastic than I about Thai food, but will eat certain items on the menu. Finding things on the menu that he will eat, we went in. We were seated at a comfortable booth. The lunch menu has a number of tempting selections for only $7.50. (This include entrée, rice, salad and egg roll.) I think of Vancouver as being expensive, but a $7.50 lunch special is less than I'd pay at any Thai restaurant here in Seattle (at least any of the ones I'd actually eat at). He had the chicken w/ spinach and peanut sauce. I had the green chicken curry. We were both very happy with the quality, quantity, flavor and spiciness of our meals. Service was friendly and efficient. Our water glasses were never empty. Our bellies and wallets were happy when we left. No complaints at all. A very satisfying meal. read more

It's funny how the Thai House is so close, but I don't get there much. That's probably because most of my friends and family aren't into spicy food, and are afraid to try it, even though not all Thai food is that hot. (I will say, though, that the hottest Thai food is hotter than anything else I've ever had: Mexican, Indian, and Sechuan included.) First, the decor: personally, I liked the old location better. It had a traditional feel to it that suited a country with such a long and proud history. The new place looks like it belongs in some trendoid style magazine. That doesn't affect the food, of course, but I found it mildly annoying. Next, the service: friendly, helpful, but not too pushy. Once we declined cocktails before dinner, they never pestered us on the drinks issue again, and they were very diligent in keeping our water glasses full. The one stroke against them is that two people in my party ordered tea, but it never arrived. Finally, the food. Everybody in my party had different constraints on their diet: this one can't eat nuts, that one can't eat shellfish, the other one is avoiding carbs, and most of them can't handle spices. However, everybody managed to find something safe to eat, and everybody seemed to be pleased with their choices. I like Thai House, we go their fairly often, but we always get the same thing - I get the satay chicken on spinach and my partner gets the chilli cashew stirfry (62 and 63 on the menu). Bit boring of us I know, but that's what we go there for. Have taken some friends there, and they were rather disappointed with their meals (pad thai and a curry) so I think it depends on what you get... I can recommend the satay though!!! read more

We had the Pad Thai, Lamb Skewers, and the Soup that night, and nothing was good, and the price was not cheap either for what you get. The Pad Thai was literally ketchup served with noodles, with barely any ingredients in it. The soup was okay, but the skewers were dry and tasteless, even with the sauce. I've been to Thailand for a long trip before, and was really disappointing at the quality of food here. I thought that this was one of the first Thai restaurants in Vancouver, but it seems like their quality has gone down a lot since I last visited Thai House on the Robson location. I must say though, the interior of this Thai House is gorgeous and chic, which was nice. I will probably not go back to the Thai House here. read more

What a bummer take-out experience. I ordered the Pad Se Ew lunch special with vegetables, and it was possibly the most bland bit of noodles I've ever had.....in my life! In fact, it was so bland that I had to use three packets of soy sauce to give it a little 'umph'. The vegetables were good, but that's about as complimentary as I can get. Next time around, I'll head to Krua Thai on Lonsdale. They always have consistently good Thai. read more

One of the best Penang curries I have had...the dish was not overcrowded with ingredients but with an incredibly fragrant coconut curry with julienne peppers and shredded kaffir lime leaves. The service was very warm, attentive and prompt. My only gripe is I found the side of brown rice to be fairly expensive. And since mangoes are in season, I got mango and sticky rice for dessert and it was to die for. I highly recommend Thai house when you have a craving for Thai cuisine. Lastly, I really don't understand why they've only received a three stars on Yelp...to me, it is some of the very best Thai food I've ever had with service to match.
