It was truly a shock at how even with my expectations exceeded, I was still blown away. I ordered the Bison Curry, -the bison was tender, but lean (my favorite type of meat), the curry was flavorful and pretty spicey, the rice was cooked right and the naan was pillowy soft with a nice bounce/chew. I also had the Coconut Ginger Green Beans, which came with naan and rice. I was worried that the ginger would be overpowering, but it was a very good balance. The green beans were cooked perfectly with a slight crunch. This was my favorite dish and although I love trying different things on the menu, I might have to come back for this again. Other things that make this food cart a 5/5 is the fact that they are organized. The line up was really long, but I managed to order my food, pay for it and pick it up within 20 minutes. As people were waiting in line, the staff also apologized for the long wait and distributed menus so you can decide on your order before getting to the window. When I grabbed my cutlery, I noticed they used recycled and enviromentally safe forks and napkins. While I was about to leave, the owner came by and shook everyone's hand and thanked them for coming. This is a well run establishment and I have no doubt they will be around for a long time!

This is not a hot dog stand, people! These are high quality ingredients, cooked to order while you wait. Sure, you aren't sitting down like you would in a restaurant, but you still get what you pay for. Food trucks still have to hire & train staff to prepare your food - there are costs associated with running the truck as well as cost of maintenance and repairs. Yes, you could go buy the ingredients yourself and make it at home for less, but that's the whole point of going out to eat - you're paying a premium for someone else to cook it, and chances are very slim you'd do a better job than the folks at Vij's Express. You will not get this kind of quality for the price of a Happy Meal, so if you're just concerned about the cost, I believe there is a McDonald's not that far from where Vij's is located, so head on over there and save your $3-4 - but ask for the heart attack on the side. For the rest of us who appreciate better quality "fast" food, Vij's is incredible. I've eaten just about everything on their menu, and they manage to keep things exciting by changing the menu according to what's seasonal, local and fresh. I have to admit, my favourite dish is the chick pea & rice puff salad, even though I used to hate chick peas. These guys converted me! The flavours (and colours) are vibrant and well balanced; although, I wouldn't mind if they kicked it up another notch on the spice belt. But that's just me - my friend thinks the heat is just perfect. If you're not quite sure what to order the first time you're there - you have to try the cassava fries - they're so good! Bowl - comes with a poached semi solid egg, wonderful flavor; the crispy fried chicken was amazing, tender and juicy and very crispy; the pork belly succulent and flavorful. Everything adds up to a memorable eat. Fries have a spicy Mayo like sauce which has just the right kick. Love it. The Brussels sprouts are the BOMB. Crunchy, buttery, sooo delish. You simply line up, receive a ticket stub from a staff member, and redeem it for a food item. It's strictly one per person. The event happened every Wednesday in September and usually sold out quickly, so you had to come early to wait in line. It started at 12 PM, but I waited from 11:15 AM and got my food an hour later. According to social media, it was sponsored by Cadillac Fairview, a commercial real estate company that owns the nearby Pacific Centre mall. The location of the event was at Robson Square, right outside the Vancouver Art Gallery. As for the food at Disco Cheetah, it's absolutely delicious--it's the bomb! I got a bowl of Korean food with battered boneless chicken thigh, multigrain rice, greens, corn, edamame, pickled red cabbage, and scallions. You also have a choice of sauces to go with the dish. I chose garlic ranch sauce and chili sauce. The chicken thigh was crispy, and every bite had a satisfying crunch. It was full of strong, salty flavors. The greens and rice complemented the dish nutritionally, balancing the salty flavors of the sauces and adding softer, saucy textures to contrast the crispy battered chicken. Big 5 out of 5 stars to the Disco Cheetah and Cadillac Fairview event staff based on this visit. I'm so glad I came out to this event and waited patiently for an hour for the food. The weather was nice, but the air was a little chilly, so it wasn't too bad of a wait. The lines were neatly organized by the event staff, which made the wait less stressful, so kudos to them for that. Disco Cheetah has a restaurant on Davie Street in downtown, so I will definitely consider visiting Disco Cheetah there to try their other dishes.

I recall the portions were always large, so I usually got for salad bowl to make it lighter. I just noticed that customers were using the self-serve sauces. The chicken was very large and juicey. The salad had a mix of corn, beans, shredded carrots and pickles. Strictly take out, but can get a seat around Robson Square.

I wondered if the food would be similar to what I had when in Siem Reap. It was a slow afternoon as the lunch rush was over, and I was given two broths to try. The seafood soup (tasted so much like fish amok) and beef soup. Both were rich and flavorful. After a few visits, I have tried the seafood noodle soup (limited quantity), beef noodle soup and chicken noodle soup. All were so good. The owner was so passionate about his food and personable. We chatted about Cambodia and his take on his food -- a bit of fusion Cambodian. So do not come here expecting the exact same things as in Cambodia. Eventually I will want to try the rice and sandwiches. For now the seafood noodle soup really called to me as I missed fish amok. Just too bad it is usually served during the colder months so it is not on the menu for now.

However, every time they were supposed to be at Joyce Station (the only location I can easily get to), they would cancel, to my disappointment (they were good at updating their website, though). I had pretty much given up hope of ever trying Rice+Soup, but nearly two weeks ago, on Thursday May 6, I once again spotted them by Joyce Station after work, so I immediately called my husband and told him I was picking up dinner. For the both of us, I ordered two Nom Banchok Nam Ya (lemongrass chicken soup) and one Lemongrass Chicken Num Pang (sandwich) to share. The food was FANTASTIC -- the soup was flavourful, and the sandwich bread was delicious and crisped to perfection. I knew I would like the soup, but I wasn't expecting to like the sandwich so much! In addition to being DELICIOUS, the portions were huge! My husband and I are piggies, but even we couldn't finish the soup -- they were HUGE! At $13 per soup and $8 for the sandwich, I have no idea how they can make a profit with such generous portions -- the food is not only tasty, but excellent value. I highly recommend Rice+Soup and hope to visit soon; however, the owner (who is super friendly) indicated that they likely won't be returning to Joyce Station and will primarily be in the River District and Mount Pleasant.

We order two things and they were the Halibut Taco and the Fish and Chips. The halibut taco was too plain for me. It lacked flavor or depth. The fish itself however, was delicious and tasted very fresh. The fish and chips was better than the taco. The fish was lightly battered and the batter was fluffy. The fish was melt in my mouth good. The coleslaw was bland and nothing great . The fries were average. I'd give this place another shot though, it has potential.
