I'm not a fan of many vegetables but this place has the most flavorful veggies ever. I've only had the buffet and it has been worth it every time. The staff remembered my face and were very welcoming. Pro Tip: 1. Don't judge a book by its cover. It doesn't look fancy but the food is wonderful. 2. Choose the buffet. They make it fresh to order with many options. 3. Don't forget the fortune cookie on your way out. read more

This is a review for their $9.99 for lunch buffet Monday - Friday 11am - 2pm. There were 3 different curries, very soupy, phat neng? (Maybe analogous to panang), green curry, and yellow curry. Green curry was the most flavorful and rich. Also a pot of veggie Tom yum soup, pretty sour but no depth of flavors, would not recommend. Fried appetizers included veggie samosas, fried okra, and veggie spring rolls. Samosas and spring rolls were both crispy and well-seasoned. Def recommend! No salad/cold bar. Entrees offered 3 noodle dishes, a glass noodle one which I didn't try, a pad thai, and a spicy wide noodle stir fry that most resemble drunken noodles in my opinion. The spicy noodle was the best! Does pack maybe a 2.5/5 heat so be careful if you can't tolerate spice. There were 6 or 7 other stir fry dishes. Spicy chicken, jalapeño chicken, broccoli and chicken, string beans and chicken (phat prik king), etc. fried and sauced chicken wings, stir fry mushroom. Some of them were a bit reminiscent of Chinese food, but def all pretty tasty and love the smokiness of the stirfries. Did not have any Thai desserts today. The sweets section included some cookies and a pound cake-appearing sliced cake, as well as a big bowl of fortune cookies. Overall a good friendly and family-owned thai place. Seems to have a loyal following at lunch time as almost all tables were occupied. This is a solid buffet option without your typical overly greasy and lukewarm dishes, the kitchen was constantly bringing out freshly-made portions. They do have a military discount which essentially give you a free thai iced tea with the buffet. Also, the owners are super sweet and really cared for their customers! We were waiting for spring rolls and they had us sit down and brought them out to us. read more

My family was in Oklahoma City on a lark, just a day trip up from north Texas. We stopped at the Murrah Federal Building site, and needed to find dinner before the 3-hour drive home. Yelp led us to Thai Kitchen Cafe, but when we knocked the kitchen had just closed and the last two parties in the dining room were finishing up. So we went on our way. We made it 1/2 block before we heard someone calling behind us--the owner was summoning us back--his wife (the chef) had sent him to get us. We didn't want to inconvenience the owners so we hesitated...and headed back. And I'm glad we did. Yelp's reviews were positive for this restaurant, but I wasn't expecting much. No, I'm not a gourmet, but I've moved around the USA a bit and have had Thai food all over. In terms of decor and the vibe of this place, it's fairly typical for an Asian walk-in restaurant: Simple tables and chairs, a couple of TV's, nothing particularly memorable. Except the food, of course. It was the best Thai food we've ever had. We each had a single dish, no appetizers. Without the menu in front of me I can't recall the price names of each dish (the spelling was atypical, in my experience). I had what I've known as Pa-Nang curry, which is a yellow curry dish, often served with peppers and potato. At this restaurant, no potato, but I didn't miss it--the curry was simply heavenly. The chicken was cooked perfectly. My wife had a red curry dish, equally delicious. Our daughter, a finicky age nine, had glass noodles with chicken--and rather than her usual approach of picking through her food for only the bits she likes, she happily ate with abandon. Behind the food is the staff, husband-and-wife team. As we became the last party in the restaurant, we had the opportunity to chat with them both--first the husband, and then later the wife as we were leaving. Both delightful people. I can't imagine we'd ever go to OKC again without stopping at Thai Kitchen Cafe for a delicious meal--it's that good. read more

I like to visit this little Thai kitchen whenever I have to go downtown. I was recently called to jury duty (again!), so I knew I wanted to stop in here for my lunch break. You can order from a menu or the have a buffet, and due to the current circumstances, all items are served to you. I like to get the buffet because you can try a number of dishes and see which you like best. Everything I tried was great - green curry, yellow curry, spring rolls, pad Thai, and spicy chicken. Most of the food had a nice level of spice to it, so you have a lot of flavor, but the heat doesn't blow you away. I love the sweet coconut milk with the spice of the curry...such a great combination. The restaurant is small, so you can expect to wait a little while to be seated, but it wasn't too bad at all. read more

One of my favorite restaurants in the city. Food is always fresh, well-seasoned, and delicious. Can't go wrong with anything on the menu, but love the yellow curry, pad thai, and chicken satay. Hopefully covid will end soon so I can go back to the lunch buffet, it's amazing. read more

Small lunch buffet with about 14 different selections. A few spicy; I don't like spicy so fewer choices for me. However, the food I had was AMAZING and authentic. Everyone was very genuine. I was asked on each trip to the buffet if I needed any of the items refilled. I live downtown OKC and will be visiting often. read more

Finally went by and they were actually open. The food was delicious and the wait was not bad at all. We took everything home and enjoyed our dinner. We had the Penang curry chicken and the Thai tea. Both amazing! read more

Awesome thai food, great lunch buffet with many fresh and tasty options, but the place is old, worn and tired. The 'server' tries his best to keep up with the busy lunch crowd, busing tables and serving drinks, but it's not great. Come for the food and leave happy. Family owned authentic and delicious. They were so kind to open their doors and offer to cook (take out) for me and my son after they'd closed down for the holiday. He had pad see ew with chicken and loved it and my massaman curry tofu was among the best I've had. Their kind hospitality made it all the better. read more

First impressions of this place were "outdated and homey". We came in for lunch and there were a few other patrons enjoying a meal. I wanted to know if their pad see ew could be made vegan so I asked if there were any animal products in the dish besides egg. After he confused my request with one of a gluten free request (lol sadly this isn't the first time someone has confused those two), he asked one of the cooks for me. Success! It was delicious and the tofu was marinated really well. The dish was filling and did not lack flavor. We were asked on a level 1-4 for spiciness. I said 2 but it tasted like 1. Next time I will ask for spicier. I love eating with chopsticks while enjoying asian cuisine but we were not offered anything other than a fork and spoon. I'm sure I could have requested some as well. One of the chefs or owner brought us complimentary veggie spring rolls which was so nice and thoughtful. My friend also enjoyed pad see ew with egg and chicken and enjoyed it. He also said his "2 spicy" level was not spicy at all. I would definitely return to this place! read more

Most beautiful tasting Thai food I've ever had. LA, New York, Houston, Denver Thai places have nothing on Thai Kitchen OKC. Their food is so well balanced in flavor it has brought me to tears (pad spicy). Their basil fried rice is floral yet has all the deliciousness of Thai flavors. Their green curry is the perfect balance of creamy delicious and fiery spice. The veggies are never over cooked or underdone. And they have an amazing in person lunch buffet special (pre covid). WARNING: they know how to make spicy food SPICY. You can order on a scale of 1-4 however it can vary based off of other ingredients in the meal. I'm a huge fan of spicy, but I'd be cautious of going past spicy level 3. read more

The Thai kitchen is definitely a dive serving up some awesome Thai food. At lunch it's a buffet, and after 5pm no buffet, just off the menu goodness. If you get there before 12pm you can get right in, after 12pm there's a line out the door. read more

This is a favorite for downtown workers- the buffet is delicious and has tons of great options! The jalapeño chicken, pad Thai, curries, and spring rolls are my favorites. They also let you do need to go buffet which is really helpful when you're in a hurry I need to take lunch back to your office. read more

The interior of the restaurant is simple and perhaps even a bit tired. But his actually adds to the warmth of the experience as a local treasure. The service is very welcoming and attentive. The food itself was fresh and delicious. The vegetable fried spring rolls fresh, crispy and flavorful. I ordered Pad Thai with pork at a three out of four stars. The spice level for me was good, similar to what other area Thai restaurants rank as a 3 out of 5. The appearance of the Pad Thai was much darker than I am used to but the flavor was excellent and rich. The pork was tender but grilled to the pint of having a nice brown or even char. Overall a balanced flavor and the portion size was appropriate. I'm eager to return to try more of their offerings. read more

It is so difficult to find good Thai food in Oklahoma! Look no further, because Thai Kitchen Cafe is the hole-in-the-wall, authentic Thai you've been craving. For lunch, you'll be served by walking through a buffet-style line, with the options: egg rolls, wontons, choice of rices, choice of curries, jalapeno chicken, choice of noodles, vegetables, & meats. I always get the pad thai, jalapeno chicken, and thai crispy spring rolls - and I am never dissapointed. read more

Cluttered, ugly, and unassuming? Yes. Easy to miss in busy downtown OKC? Absolutely. Horrible downtown parking opportunities? That's a given, baby. Good food, though? Bingo. Friendly service? BOOM. This is a family owned Thai eatery, not an expensive chophouse. Expect large portions of home cooked food and VERY cheerful service each and every time you go in. It is what it is, and what it IS is a great little place to eat. Parking is a real bitch sometimes, and this place can get super-crowded at lunchtime. (Hey, lots of people who work downtown love this place as much as I do, apparently.) Be sure to try the green curry! read more

I got three words for ya...PHAT SEE EW. That's all you need to know. Kind of a sketch looking restaurant but the Lord was thinking of OKC when He let Thai Kitchen come to town. I'm sure everything else on the menu is incredible. But if you're feeling some rice noodles, egg, broccoli, and soy sauce and sweet vinegar...you know what to order ;) read more

I love this place! I am usually downtown once a week, so I try to make it for lunch. It's the best pad Thai I have had and it comes with two spring rolls. You are waited on but they also leave you alone. It's a great combo; I can read or watch tv while I am eating. Everyone here is so friendly. I wish there was one close to me. read more

What a diamond in the rough! I'm so glad I took a chance on this place. The waiter was quick to greet and seat me. I ordered some veggie spring rolls and they came out quick and hot. They were stuffed with veggies! I also had chicken pad Thai that had lots of chicken, noodles, and fresh veggies. It had just enough spice to give it a little kick. I don't live in OKC but if I did, I would make this place a regular stop! read more

I just started a new job downtown. My boss wanted to take me to lunch. He suggested a couple of places, with this being one, & I said, "let's do it!" We walked the block down to Thai Kitchen. I've driven by it numerous times & never thought it was open before. When you walk in, the lunch buffet is set up RIGHT THERE. If there are people paying or waiting their turn at the small buffet, you're just going to have to wait your turn, Missy! We ordered buffets. They had like 3 or 4 curries, steamed white rice, fried rice, a few fried things, 2 or 3 noodle dishes, chicken wings, spicy chicken, jalapeno chicken, a tofu dish, and something else with vegetables. They did have cookies & fortune cookies are well. I got 2 noodle dishes, the spicy chicken & jalapeno chicken. Oh. My. Lort. This was fantastic food!!! Now, I'm not going to lie. I was worried when I saw the stairs & how small it seemed, but trust me. This is some goooood Thai eatin'! I'm so glad I work right down the street. This will be a regular for me as it seems it is for many downtown employees. read more

I'm not sure what was more endearing: the fact that even though they were closed between regular lunch hours and dinner they let me in, or how nice and accommodating they were with me once I got in. The open sign was on, I was in dangerous blood-sugar-dropping-angry territory. But the door was locked! I only hope I didn't yank repeatedly on the door or look up to the sky and angrily ask why! Because before I could storm off in the way that only a spoiled girl can, they opened the door and warmly welcomed me in. I ordered, interrupting their short break, but never feeling less than an honored guest. My food was ready in two shakes of a lamb's tail. I took my yummy green curry back to the station to eat. The meat was quality, the sauce rich and spicy and full of crispy (not soggified) veggies. Perfect rice. I wanted to eat all of it and also wanted to save part of it, which is my barometer for good take out. I found the inside to be shabbily reassuring. If I were in Seattle, I'd be like, Seattle's so cool, look at this place that's been around forever with weird stairs and carpet. And in OKC, you're like, what is this place? But in OKC, we get the yummy, edgy downtown Thai place, but ours is run by some of the nicest people you're likely to meet. Reason number 4,726 I love this odd little city. read more

The BEST Thai restaurant in OKLAHOMA! Super hole in the wall in the middle of downtown. It feels like you're entering a small home. The owners are the sweetest people alive & are so caring about their customers. Get the buffet on Wednesdays because they have the most amazing cheese roll appetizers. All the curries (Panang/ Green/ Massuman) are phenomenal and rice/ noodle dishes are good as well. Thai tea is amazing as well. Nothing beats the price, service & quality of food. Love the home-feel! 10/10 would recommend. PS. Go during the BUFFET hours- it may not be the same experience during after hours/ to go meals read more

The place is a little small and the ambiance is of that in a Thai place in the city - not one of those posh ones. All of the staff is quirky, detailed, and enthusiastic, though we did need to ask for some more water a couple of times. Both the appetizer -fried cheese- and our curries took a little while, but I truly believe it is because it is made fresh - the taste and how hot it was was astounding! Perfectly spiced! A heat level of two is really a two - and a three a three! I can't tell you how many times I ask for a two and I can't taste any spice or it's so spicy that I have to ask for a ton more rice. Can't pick a favorite between the musaman and the green curries. The amount of food in their portions was amazing! I take half of my curry home every time! read more

It kind of blows my mind how anyone could give Thai Kitchen less than five stars. It is so good. So. Good. My mom told me about this place a few years ago, and I have only been a few times but it is a hidden gem downtown. Yes, warn your guests that it's a bit grungy, but once they taste the food, it won't even matter. The holes in the wall are sometimes the best restaurants! The weekday lunch buffet is phenomenal. You can pretty much sample the entire menu for less than $10. My favorites from the buffet were the jalapeno chicken, which was sauteed with bell peppers, onions and jalapenos, and the spicy chicken, which was just lightly breaded and cooked in some goodness. Pad Thai is my favorite Thai dish, and it was great as well with some of the chicken dishes mixed in. Green beans were good, spring rolls were good, and I tried the red and yellow curry - both delicious. Surprisingly, the desserts were really good too. They just looked like store-bought cookies and cakes, and maybe they were, but the chocolate cake was so soft and delicious. I think the environment is just part of this place, and I kind of love it. It doesn't look like much, but is always packed at lunch with people in suits - obviously it's not too grungy for them! read more

I really enjoyed my meal here. The restaurant was very quiet, but we did come at an odd time on monday. We split some rolls, and Girlfriend had the Kaeng Pha Naeng while I had the Phat Thai. Incredible. Amazing. Wonderful. Delicious. Hot, fresh, rich, and. . . how do I phrase this. Intact? The flavors are intact. They aren't ruined by each other. They don't fight like some poorly prepared thai places. They cooperate. There are a scarce few places I'd be willing to brave downtown for, and this is definitely one of them. I hope to return sometime soon. read more

My Thai food obsession is getting a little out of hand, but really though, Thai Kitchen Cafe is at the top of my list. The only thing I've actually had is the Pad Kee Mao (shocking) and vegetarian spring rolls, all of which were wonderful. My only problem is that I have come back and had the same thing and it wasn't as good as the time before so problem #1 is that the consistency is off a little since the first time I had the Pad Kee Mao it was AMAZING and the second time it was ehhhh and then the third time it was great, although not as good as the first time. Run on sentence, anyone? Anyway, I don't know what's up with their consistency but it's a little off. Their buffet looks fantastic and I have been a little disappointed with myself for not ever splurging on the buffet because they are constantly bringing out fresh food. The location of this restaurant is pretty terrible considering parking and the inside of the restaurant is iffy but that's not what matters. The food is good and the price is right so I will keep going back and hopefully can give them another star if they become a little more consistent with their noodles. read more

They may have got our spiciness requests reversed. She enjoyed it. It was hardy, flavorful, and served in a large bowl. It was enough for two. The restrauant is ordinary, uninspired, and lacks imagination. The table spacing is so far apart it seems odd. The service was good. The prices were $13.95 and $13.75 for the two dishes.

I am glad I didn't take any names (save for Lindsey) because knowing names would make it so much worse for this review. I arrived before the rest of my family expecting the normal craze that N.J. has on pretty much any given day. It was surprisingly slow. Walked in, went to the Host desk and stated I had a party of 4 adults and a child. I asked if I could have the "half and half" table by the door leading to the patio. I should have taken heed by the "deer in headlights" look i received that I was not dealing with a full deck of cards person. The table was empty, but she tried to convince me that i should take one of the crescent tables. Trying to remain calm at the total incompetence before me; I finally stated that I'll take a table outside...to which I received the reply: "I don't think we can do that because the tables are worked in a diagonal" I know at this point I had a, "Tha Fook" look about my face. I also got a text that the group had grown by an adult and a infant; knowing this was going to confuse the hostess even more, but best to update the count. She then said she would have to go and check with the manager if it would in fact be possible to move tables that are not bolted down, outside to fit 5 adults and 2 children. Thinking, "I'm glad I showed up early", the restaurant then began to get busy. Not too long later she returned with the manager...who explained it would not be a problem to put some tables together. He informed me that they would get it set up, but they they would wait to seat when the rest of the party arrived; rules I understand and stated as much...I did ask the manager though, why the hostess said it would be an issue...He honestly replied he didn't know why she had said that. So kudos to the Manager with the blonde hair and light colored shirt. So I sat down in the waiting area for everyone to arrive. About 5 minutes elapsed when they finally arrived. As my party entered the restaurant, i stepped up to the host stand and informed them everyone had arrived and that the party had reduced back down to the original number (4 adults and 1 child). The male host informed me that it would be another 5 minutes...not so they could set up the table...but so that the server would not be overwhelmed by a third table. Yes, that look came across my face again. The female hostess walked away to go talk to the server as I was explaining to the male host that its fine to seat us; we can wait for the server for when she was ready. At this time he was confused. Which made no sense. I mean this is a restaurant that if normally PACKED...with a line that wraps around the building and cars are fighting for a spot to park. So to say the server needed time to acclimate from two tables, to three...THAT is a major problem for your restaurant that is always busy. Well, a few minutes had gone by and we were still waiting to be taken to our table. The male server noticed (which I had noticed the whole time) that the female hostess was still talking to the server. He proceeded to run back there and they and a different manager came to the front. The manager asked confusedly if I wanted to be sat down...I replied, "Yes, we never expected to be immediately tended to by the server, we just wanted to sit down and get out of the way of all the people now coming in. He showed us to the table and asked if there was anything else (wrong question). So I told him that the hostess was incompetent. How I had originally asked for the half and half table, etc. Then the whole diagonal thing and now about the server needing time to acclimate from two tables to three. Now, the worst thing you can do as a manager of any installation is stand there and look stupid (this is not the same manager as before, mind you, this guy had brunette hair and a blue shirt). Whish was exactly what he was doing, and giving responses that sounded like he went into default mode. They didn't address the situation, they didn't acknowledge the situation...They were literally "filler talk". My reaction was again, that look. We sat down and the original server finally came out, provided us with menus and took our drink order, and left. Maybe 5 minutes later Lindsey came out with our drinks. THAT is when the experience turned for the positive. She was jovial, polite, informed us of the special (which I ordered; they need to rename it the Wilford Brimley - iykyk). She gave us the perfect amount of time. Never rushed to refill coffees or anything...and the BEST part: she didn't ask when everyone has food in their mouth how everything was...I HATE THAT!!!!. Truly, Lindsey saved the day. She needs a raise and a promotion (she should take the second manager's job because he was useless). I hope next time is better... from the beginning.
